A/N: This is my set of drabbles for the DMHG Challenge over on LiveJournal. Each month we are given a prompt word, and all submissions must be Dramione-centric and exactly 100 words.

Disclaimer: I do not own the Harry Potter universe or franchise nor do I make any money off of these.

October 2014 Prompt: Bloody Baron

Title: In Defeat, But Not in Death

Rating: PG-13

Warnings: drama, angst

Draco paces the corridors of Hogwarts, sometimes searching, sometimes brooding, ever watchful. He sees her sneaky movements, hears her bossy arguments, smells her perfume.

But mostly, he senses her magic, and it infuriates him.

He grips his wand tighter, waiting for an opening. Just one shot is all he needs…

"Don't," whispers a voice out of the darkness.

He turns to see the Bloody Baron close to him. "Why ever not?"

"That way lies the Heart's death." Without saying more, he floats away.

Draco turns back to her, heart and mind in turmoil. Eventually, he lowers his wand in defeat.

A/N: I won first place for this one, too! I was surprised. I hope you all enjoy these little drabbles of mine. Reviews are love.
