Hi people of the fanfictions. Um, I apologize for disappearing for a while. I didn't have access to a computer for about a month so I couldn't post or type. Well I don't have much else to say, I hope you guys stick with me on this story and I'll try to update more frequently now.

Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon

Ch.11: Don't Give Up Till the End

"Prepare yourself Ash" began Viola with a Pokeball in hand, "My lens is always focused on victory-I won't let anything ruin this shot."

Viola then tossed the Pokeball into the air, and a bulky brown Pokemon with a pair of large spiky pincers on top of its head appeared in a flash of light,

"Pin-sir" Crackled Viola's chosen Pokemon.

"What Pokemon is that?" Serena muttered to herself before she took out her pokedex,

"Pinsir, the Stag Beetle Pokemon. Pinsir grips prey with its pincers until the prey is torn in half. What it can't tear, it tosses far."

A shiver went through Serena's spine, "That doesn't sound too pleasant".

"Well, I wish I had a Metapod right about now." Ash gripped the front of his hat and played with it for a bit before turning to Pikachu,

"All right buddy, are you ready?"

Pikachu didn't need to be told twice as he got of Ash's shoulder and went to take his position on the battlefield.

"This will be a gym battle between the leader of the Santalune city gym Viola and the challenger Ash Ketchum. Both sides will use 2 Pokemon, the victor will be decided once either sides Pokemon are unable to continue. The challenger is the only one allowed to make substitutions" the ref looked at Ash and Viola to give her the okay, "begin!"

"Pikachu!" Ash wasted no time to begin, "Thunderbolt!"

Pikachu attacked with the always reliable Thunderbolt which hit its target, full force.

"All right, it hit!" Ash's traveling companions cheered as the attack hit its mark.

Paul stood at a distance when he noticed the group.

Something was off. He could swear that there were only 3 in the Ash Kalos fan club, but there was somebody else.

"Honey Blonde?" Paul thought as he caught sight of Serena.

"Is that another one of his friends… Wait a minute, let's see, orange, brown, blue, and purple. Well, it's not one of those."

"Pinsir, Takedown!" Viola quickly countered.

Pinsir's quick turnaround took both trainer and Pokemon off guard.

"Pika!" Squealed the Mouse Pokemon as it was hit by the reckless tackle.

Pikachu was sent across the field as its body was scraped by the floor.

"Follow up with Mega Punch!" Viola quickly ordered.

"Pikachu watch out!"

Pikachu quickly got back on all fours and grunted as it jumped back to avoid avoided Pinsir's fist.

"Quickly, without missing a frame, Stone Edge!"

Pinsir created space as it followed its trainer's orders and sent a multitude of stones flying at Pikachu.

"Thunderbolt!" Ash called out hurriedly.

Pikachu let loose a power electric strike, taking down the Stone Edge and causing a dust cloud to appear.

"What's going on? Why does it seem like Ash and Pikachu are slow to react?" May asked no one in particular.

"I think Ash thought he had Viola's battling style figured out, but as a good gym leader, Viola realized using the exact same battle style and strategies would be unwise since Ash saw her battle. So she changed it up, to test Ash, which is the main job of a gym leader. He needs to adapt quickly or he's in trouble."

"Well I wouldn't worry too much about that" May said confidently.

Clemont looked back at her confused,

"Ash has always been good at adapting to a situation."

"Pikachu, quick attack into Iron Tail!"

"Pika!" Pikachu suddenly came up into Pinsir's grill and gave it no chance to react as Pikachu slammed a steel hard tail into the center of its body, sending it back.

"I see" Clemont's mind began to churn as he looked on, "maybe that's another reason why they're always at odds. Not only are their styles complete opposites, but they clash. Paul has battling down to a science, moving his pieces and is relentless at attacking weak points. Ash battles with a lot of passion, emotion, and fire. He relies heavily on instincts and his bond with his Pokemon. And he would rather fight strength with strength. Ash was born to battle, but Paul is a genius."

"Pinsir, use Stone Edge!"Pinsir regained its balance and fired off another stone edge.

"Pikachu, dodge them all!" Ash called out confidently.

Pikachu backed up its trainer's confidence as it dodged every stone thrown at it.

"Looks like their getting their rhythm" thought Viola as she saw Pikachu dodge the attack, "let's how you react when that rhythm is broken."

"Volt Tackle!"

Pikachu found a clear path towards Pinsir and took it as it went into a powerful Volt Tackle.

Viola then made a command at the last second, "Endure!"

Pikachu slammed into the bug type with fulforce, which pinsir took in the chest.

But even with Volt tackle's great power, Pikachu could not send Pinsir back and both Pokemon remained in a struggle for the moment, Viola then made her move.

"Revenge!"

"Wait! That move…"

Pinsir's body quickly became surrounded in an orange aura. And before Ash, or Pikachu for that matter, could react, Pinsir sent a fist into Pikachu's back.

Pikachu went wide eyed for a split second before he was sent into ground with a gut wrenching crack.

"Pikachu!" Ash called out to a damaged Pikachu,

Pikachu responded by opening its' eyes slowly, his eyes landing on the Pinsir above him.

"Let's end this Pinsir" said viola as her arms spread out wide.

"Not yet! Pikachu, Quick Attack!"

"Pi-ka!" In an instance, Pikachu recovered and slammed into Pinsir.

Being caught off guard, Pinsir was sent flying back before hitting the dirt battlefield hard.

The referee took a quick glance towards the fallen Pinsir before calling the match,

"Pinsir is unable to continue, Pikachu is the winner!"

"Yeah, good job Pikachu!" Ash celebrated with a fist pump.

"Pika!" Pikachu answered with his own smaller fist pump.

Viola on the other hand had a somewhat blank look, her eyes where wide and he lips were small and straight.

"Never underestimate Pikachu's fighting spirit, he's a battle hardened warrior."

"Pika!"

A sudden smile appeared on Viola's face, "My first day back and I get a couple of challengers like this; looks like it's my lucky day."

"Impressive Ash, but having a strong fighting spirit doesn't always guarantee victory" Viola took out her next pokeball, "Vivillon, the stage is set, let's show them why the camera loves you."

Viola threw the Pokeball high into the sky, and after a bright flash of light, Vivillon appeared, but this one was different as well.

"Oh wow, it looks just as beautiful as the others, but it's wings, they're different as well" Serena said as she marveled the Vivillon.

"That design…" began May.

"It looks like a Pokeball!" Bonnie said excitedly.

"Pokeball pattern Vivillon? I've heard of them but they're supposed to be really rare" Clemont added as he looked at Vivillon.

"Well if anyone is going to have a Vivillon like that it's going to be Viola."

Ash noted the Vivillon and its' wing pattern,

"It definitely looks cool, but we're here to win!"

"Pikachu, return."

"Pika" nodded the yellow Pokemon before it scurried to Ash's side.

"Let's take this battle to the sky!"

Ash's auburn eyes lit up, "Fletchling, I choose you!"

With an emphatic gesture, Ash released the flying type,

"Fletch!"

"Let's put the pressure on them."

"Fletchling, use peck!"

Fletchling quickly gained altitude before nose diving down towards Vivillon.

"Gust!"

Vivillon began flapping its' huge wings in an instant, creating a gust attack just as strong as Viola's other Vivillon.

The gust completely repelled Fletchling and sent the Tiny Robin Pokemon back where it came from.

"Now, time to set a natural stage, Vivillon, Quiver Dance!"

Vivillon began to slowly spin around and teeter as it began to glow red.

"That's not good! Ash, you need to attack now!" Clemont said hurriedly.

"I know!" Ash began with clenched teeth and fists, "Fletchling, Razor Wind!"

"Fletch-" cried the flying type as its wings began to glow white before firing, "-Ling!"

At the same moment, Vivillon stopped its' dance,

"Struggle Bug!" Demanded Viola with an out stretched arm.

Vivillon quickly responded with its' wings glowing a bright green before firing several green small projectiles.

Fletchling's Razor Wind collided with Vivilons' Struggle Bug causing a small explosion midair, but before anything else could happen, a couple of the green projectiles appeared out of the explosion and hit Fletching hard on its' back,

"Fletch!" Cried the Pokemon in pain as it fell towards the ground, but managed to straighten itself out before hitting the dirt.

"Not good, I need to get a hit off, I need to get pass that gust."

"Fletchiling razor wind!"

Fletchling's wings glowed white before firing a Vivillon,

"Struggle Bug once again!" Responded Viola.

Vivillon countered with the same attack as last time which ended with the same result as both moves collided.

"Go Fletchling!"

At Ash's command Fletchling appeared out of the smoke,

"Peck!"

"Vivillon!" Cried Viola warning of the incoming attack

With Fletchling coming in hard, Vivillon had barely enough time to shift its body to avoid a direct hit. Fletchling grazed Vivillon as it passed by, much to the challengers dismay.

"So close!"

Ash quickly decided to follow "Fletchling keep up the attacks! Steel Wing."

"Fletch" cried the Pokemon affirmatively.

Fletchling started to attack vivillon repeatedly, diving and charging from different angles, all which Vivillon skillfully dodged.

"Speed is one of the attributes Quiver Dance raises, that and others. That's what makes Quiver Dance so dangerous" Clemont said from the sidelines as he thought out loud.

Fletchling's assault ended unsuccessfully with the red and gray flying type breathing heavily.

"Now, end this with gust!"

"No, what now" Ash's mind raced a mile a minute, then he found what he was looking for, "You can't fight it, just need to go with it."

"Fletchling, don't fight the wind. Do everything you can to ride it."

"Vi-vi-llon!" The scale Pokemon flapped its pokeball pattern wings creating an even more powerful gust than last time.

"Fletch" cried the flying type as it struggled against the gust.

"Don't fight it Fletching, ride the wind!" Fletching heard as its trainer called out from the trainer's box.

Fletchling then figured it out.

Its expression changed from one of hopelessness to determination.

Suddenly Fletchling changed its' body position and began to ride the wind.

"Alright! Fletchling you did it."

"Look at that, Fletchling is using its tail feather to stay balanced in the gust."

"Now, Razor wind!" Ash commanded with an outstretched arm.

"Fletch-ling!" The Tiny Robin Pokemon followed up by firing crescent shaped waves of energy at Vivillon, who had no chance to dodge and was hit directly.

"Yes!" Shouted Ash while his friends on the sidelines cheered. But the cheering didn't last long when Viola retaliated without missing a step,

"Vivillon, Psybeam!"

"Fletchling, watch out!"

Vivillon quickly gathered itself before firing a streaky blue and purple beam of energy at an unprepared Fletchling.

Fletchling was immediately sent to the ground unable to get up.

The ref took a quick look at Fletchling before calling out, "Fletchling is unable to continue, Vivillon is the victor."

Ash walked up to Fletchling and took a knee next to it, to which Fletchling responded defeated.

"Hey, don't beat yourself up, you were great out there" Ash then took out Fletchling's pokeball, "take a long rest, leave everything else too Pikachu, alright?"

Fletchling nodded affirmatively before Ash returned it to its pokeball.

Ash slowly walked back to the trainer's box where he took a deep breath before giving a quick nod to Pikachu who immediately ran onto the field.

Ash closed his eyes for a moment, "Viola and Vivillon are strong, there's no doubt about that" he then slowly opened them and looked straight ahead, "But that doesn't change the fact that we're going to win."

"Give it your best shot, Ash" Viola replied inwardly.

"Electro Ball!" Ash called out with force.

"Pika!" Replied Pikachu as he formed a ball of electricity and flinged it at the opponent.

"Struggle Bug!" Countered Viola and Vivillon.

Both attacks collided, creating a large amount of smoke which Vivillon quickly dispersed with Viola's next move,

"Gust! Let's go!"

Vivillon quickly flapped its' large wings, blowing away the smoke and catching Pikachu who was holding on for all its worth.

"Pikachu, hang on!" Ash called out desperately.

His mind raced again, and this time he found an answer in Paul's match with Viola.

"Pikachu, dig in! Use your tail!"

"Pika!" Replied the Electric Mouse Pokemon as he fought against the gust and slammed the end of its tail into the ground, creating a stable base.

"Wow! That's so cool" marveled Bonnie, "Go Ash!"

"I can't believe he's able to think of that so quickly. He still has that same spirit that I saw when we first met" Serena thought to herself as she saw Ash and Pikachu battle.

"The Gust assault soon stopped, which Ash quickly took advantage of,

"Pikachu, Quick Attack into Iron tail!"

Pikachu quickly closed the distance between him and the aerial opponent with a lock and loaded Iron Tail.

"Vivillon, evade!"

Vivillon quickly shot upwards, causing Pikachu to whiff on the attack.

"No!"

"Your over aggressiveness is going to cost you Ash. Quickly, Psybeam!"

Vivillon fired the psychic powered beam which hit Pikachu at the exact moment Pikachu landed, giving him no chance to put up a defense.

"Pikachu!"

The dust slowly cleared and revealed Pikachu still standing, but with swirls in his eyes. Pikachu began to teeter.

"What's wrong with Pikachu" Bonnie asked worried.

"Psybeam can cause confusion, that's not good, this is the last thing they needed right now" Clemont replied.

"Pikachu, snap out of it" Called out May.

"Alright Vivillon, Quiver Dance."

Vivillon began its terrifying boosting dance right in front of helpless Ash.

"Pikachu!" Ash began, "Snap out of it!"

Pikachu didn't reply, giving Ash no choice but to act,

"It's no use; we just have to go for it."

"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"

"Pika-pika-pi?-chuuu!" Pikachu finally fired the electric attack right at Vivillon even in his confusion.

"It worked!" May called out happily.

"Looks like Pikachu heard Ash after all" Clemont added.

By that time though, Vivillon was done with its Quiver Dance, but the lightning strike reached in time and hit Vivillon for a super effective attack.

Everybody cheered as Vivillon became surrounded in electricity, everybody except Paul who looked at Vivillon more closely,

"Thunderbolt isn't going to get the job done."

Suddenly, everybody else looked on in bewilderment when Vivillon dispersed the electric attack easily.

"Vi-vi-llon!" Cried the Pokemon, showing that it was still more than capable to continue.

"What happened wasn't that super effective?" May asked.

"Of course" began Clemont in realization, "Quiver boosts special defense as well, and with all those boosts-"

"Vivillon can now shake off super effective special attacks easier" Paul cut in causing everybody to turn, "the only way they he can win is if he can touch Vivillon with a physical move. If not, he's done."

The group gave a worried look while Paul kept his eyes on the battle.

"Quick Attack and Iron Tail, go!"

Pikachu finally shook of the confusion and performed the combo attack, which Vivillon dodged easily, causing Ash to ground his teeth.

Pikachu landed back on Ash's side on the field and Viola made her next move,

"Gust, once more."

Pikachu tried to dig in once again, but this time Pikachu couldn't hold and was blown back violently.

"Pikachu!"

Pikachu continued to fight against the gust, but to no avail, as the Electric Mouse Pokemon kept being pushed back.

"There has to be something we can do."

"The answer is there dumbass, or are you too hard headed to find it?"

"That's it!" Ash closed his fist, "use your Iron Tail, and dig in with all you have.

"Pi-ka!" Pikachu slammed his steel hard tail into the ground and anchored himself into the ground to withstand the powerful gust.

"Pika-pi!"

The Gust finally stopped as Viola realized the Pikachu wasn't going anywhere.

"Impressive Ash" she began as made a camera sign with her finger, "but now Pikachu can't move, giving Vivillon a perfect snap shot at Pikachu."

"I feel sorry for her Pokemon. Listening to those terrible camera puns all the time must be torture." Paul thought as he leaned on the concrete wall separating the spectators from the battle.

"We'll see about that" retorted the raven haired trainer with auburn eyes a blazing.

"I guess we will" responded Viola, "Struggle Bug!"

"Thunderbolt, don't hold back!"

Both attacks collided head on, canceling each other out.

"Pikachu can still match Vivillon" May said positively.

"Not for long" Clemont pointed out a tired Pikachu on the field.

"You can do it Ash, I know you can" May said to herself.

Meanwhile Viola observed the situation,

"It's time."

"Vivillon, Hyper Beam!"

"Hyper what!?" Ash went wide eyed, "Pikachu can't fight that off."

A ball of pure energy began to form in Vivillon's mouth.

"What can we do" Ash suddenly closed his eyes one last time, trying to find the answer that was nowhere to be found.

Suddenly a semi familiar voice reached his ears,

"Don't give up till the end!" Serena Shouted from the sidelines, causing everybody including Paul to look on in surprise.

Those words echoed in his ears, bringing up some flashes of memories but most importantly, reviving his fighting spirit.

Ash quickly opened his eyes. Then Vivillon fired a dark purple beam of energy at Pikachu.

"Pikachu, Electro Ball, don't move from your spot!"

Pikachu began to form an Electro Ball at the end of his tail which was anchored in the ground and began to create friction.

Vivillon's Hyper Beam was barreling down on Pikachu and at the last moment the ground beneath Pikachu exploded, causing Pikachu to shoot upwards as the Hyper Beam collided with the ground.

Pikachu was sent flying, his eyes closed tight and a trail of smoke trailing him.

"Pikachu!" began Ash and his friends in unison, "Do it!"

"Volt Tackle!" Ash called out.

Pikachu managed to open its right eye in response.

"Pikapikapikapikapika" Pikachu was transformed into a destructive electric missile.

Pikachu rammed into a Vivillon that was as shocked as it trainer.

Pikachu and Vivillon crashed onto the battle field in a spectacular fashion with Pikachu not letting up at all. They both crash landed and picked up a large amount of dust

Everybody looked on in suspense; Ash clenched his teeth while Viola was agape.

The dust cleared revealing a heavily injured Pikachu on top of a fallen Vivillon. Then Pikachu gingerly got onto all fours, clearly on his last legs.

The ref finally called the match and declared Pikachu and Ash the winner.

Ash didn't hear any of it though. He ran too Pikachu and picked up his partner,

"Pikachu that was awesome" Ash looked at his buddy, "are you alright?"

"Pika-Pi" he nodded.

"You did it. You always come through."

Ash's friends came running onto the field congratulating him on his victory,

Paul looked on for a moment from the top of the stairs before turning and walking away,

"Don't get too excited dumbass. The real monsters have yet to come."
