Steve was leaning against a sign in the lobby waiting for her, a cheeky grin on his face when she came up in the lift.

"I beat you back," he mocked, and then immediately stopped. The grim look on Elise's face gave everything away. "You saw it, didn't you," he muttered.

"Fury showed you?" she asked back. He nodded. "I am going to kill him," she cursed under her breath.

"Come on," said Steve, grabbing her arm and dragging her back towards one of the lifts.

"Do I want to know?" Elise asked, as she begrudgingly followed.

"You and I both need to let off a bit of steam, might as well teach the recruits a thing or two while we do it," he said as they hopped in the lift. "Training floor," said Steve and the lift started to move. Elise quickly pulled out her phone.

"I need a mat cleared on the training floor by the time my lift reaches it," she ordered, hanging up immediately.

"Would it hurt you to say please?" joked Steve, lightly jabbing her in the ribs

"You know I have to maintain my reputation. Unrelenting asshole" she joked back, and he gave her a hug. "No signs of affection at work," she muttered, and he gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"Its fine, I know the boss would let me off the hook," he muttered back, quickly kissing her on the lips.

"Or you know someone who could bribe the boss to get you off the hook," replied Elise with a cheeky grin, giving him a quick kiss back. It was moments like this that the two of them had learned to cherish. Between Avengers and Asgard, S.H.I.E.L.D and secret missions, the two could go for some time without seeing each other. And with everything the two had gone through, they had come to realise how much they truly needed each other. Even if it was for the occasional fight. "And don't think for one second that I am going to go easy on you," she warned. He smiled.

The lift opened and they stepped out, the entire training floor dead silent, every eye glancing at them. The first time they had fought down here, there was only a handful of people and Fury watching. Looks like this time the rumour had spread quicker and people had been able to rush down. Yet they all tried to stand there as though they were going about their business as normal. Elise had to stifle a laugh.

"Recruit!" she yelled, her voice echoing across the silent room. Every recruit in the room started to jitter, hoping they weren't the ones being singled out. Elise slowly stepped towards one, a young male who exuded self-confidence. "What are you looking at?" she asked, and he quickly lowered his head. "I said," she started again, trying so hard to hide the grin that wanting to etch itself on her face. "What are you looking at?" she repeated. The recruit started shaking, and Steve placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Come on," he whispered. She looked down at the recruit once more, before walking away. "Did you have to do that?" he asked, looking slightly disappointed.

"Alright Mr. Morality, calm down. That recruit's name is Josh Pace, joined a couple of months ago. Been giving his instructors hell, tormenting the female recruits, he needed bringing down a peg. Being terrified by me, that's a good start," Elise replied back and it was Steve's turn to smile.

"I really shouldn't underestimate you should I?" he grinned at her.

"Considering you are about to fight me, that would be a good idea," she replied back, pulling her jacket off and stepping onto the training mat. Steve stepped up as well, and they both began circling each other. The two made a habit of not fighting, but when it came to letting off steam, the two fighting worked perfectly. Steve had the upper hand in strength and combat training, Elise in agility and her powers.

"Ready?" yelled out Steve and Elise nodded. Then it began.

For those recruits this was a fight they would talk about in hushed whispers for years to come. New recruits would believe it was a myth, a legend the old recruits made up. The agents watched in awe at the fight, the skill that they both possessed. Elise struck first, just as both her and Steve expected her to. She went straight for a low jab, one that Steve found easy to block, but that was the point. Using the support of the air, she flipped him backwards, jumping on top of him and pushing her arm hard against his throat. Steve quickly retaliated, kicking his legs up to knock her off him, then flipping up to stand on his own two feet again.

"Are you going easy on me?" yelled Steve. Elise laughed, sending a rush of air at him, knocking him to the ground.

"Oh sweetheart, of course I am," she replied, just as Steve stood once more. He rushed at her launching punch after punch, every one artfully blocked. It was as close to a match between equals as they would get. Everyone watching could have sworn that it was choreographed. As the fight progressed the two started to show off more, Elise integrating her powers more into each move, Steve using combat training to deflect her moves before she even made them. It became clear neither of them was going to win, not without seriously hurting each other.

"Draw?" asked Steve ten minutes later. Neither were even remotely tired, but if they went for much longer, the training floor would never be able to focus again. Elise nodded and they both lowered their hands to their sides.

"You have gotten better," muttered Elise, picking her jacket up.

"Well, I have to be able to keep up with you somehow," mocked Steve. They both headed for the lift, once in, they both cracked up laughing.

"Their faces are always priceless," said Steve, leaning with his back to the glass. Elsie nodded.

"Listen, I need to go out of town for the night. Do you want to stay at the flat and I'll meet you here tomorrow morning?" asked Elise and Steve sighed.

"Do you have to?" he asked and Elise nodded.

"You know I wouldn't go unless I had to. Besides, you can manage for one night without me, can't you?" she mocked, planting a kiss on his cheek.

"Why do you think I'm marrying you? I've got to keep you around somehow," Steve replied, returned the kiss on the cheek.

"You could just ask nicely," Elise whispered, hugging him tight. The lift reached the reception floor and they both headed out towards the car park. A car pulled up, an agent stepping out and holding the keys out to her. She nodded and the agent walked off. "Need a lift?" she asked Steve and he shook his head.

"I've got my bike, and I need to make a stop on the way. Be careful tonight," he whispered, giving her one final kiss on the cheek.

"I always am," replied Elise, and Steve cracked up laughing as he walked off. He may have had a point. Elise hopped in the car and pulled out her phone. The report on the Project Insight had been in her mail inbox less than an hour after she had demanded one. And while she was smart, she could see that Tony had a hand in these designs. So she needed to consult with him about them. Elsie started up the car, plugging her phone in. "Call Stark," she said, the phone doing the work for her.

"Elise, what can I do for you," said Tony as he picked up the phone.

"Tell me everything you know about Project Insight. Now."

Elise hung up the phone, her hands immediately dropping it from all the shaking.

"God damn you Nick," she muttered, racing back to her car. She needed to get back to Washington, back to Steve quickly. Nick Fury could not be dead, this had to be a trick of his, part of his master plan. But Steve had seen him die, as had Natasha, surely he would not have needed to put them through it. And at least he would have told her, he would not want to risk her wrath when he revealed himself to be alive. Elise drove as fast as the road limit allowed, and occasionally went over. A speeding ticket was not a worry for her right now, and with government plates on the car, she could probably weasel her way out of any anyway. For now she needed to do what she did best, distract herself. When someone around her died, she directed her attention to something else, normally revenge. With Steve, they would both make whoever had done this pay. She drove into the Triskellion, dumping her car at the entrance.

"Where is Captain Steve Rogers?" she demanded at reception.

"In a meeting with Mr. Pierce, would you like me…?" The receptionist started, but Elise's phone rang. The receptionist was smart enough to shut up so she could answer it.

"Steve, where are you?" Elise quickly asked.

"Coming down in a lift now, I will meet you in the foyer as soon as I can," he quickly replied, the signal being cut out by the lift. Elise looked up, and could see the glass lift Steve would be in. She turned to face the receptionist.

"He is on his way, don't worry," she told her, and the receptionist had to work very hard not to sigh with relief. Elise did feel bad sometimes for how she treated the people at SHIELD. The reality was though that she lost respect and fear when she didn't. In her case it was better to be called a bitch than be seen as weak. The spy world was cut throat, and she didn't fancy the idea of her's being cut.

The sound of smashing glass filled the room, screams echoing out. Elise quickly turned, to see Steve lying on the ground, slowly getting up and brushing the glass off.

"Steve," she yelled, running over to him.

"We need to run," whispered Steve finally getting to his feet. Elise knew the tone well enough that she did not question it for a moment. They ran straight for the garage, Steve starting the bike up as Elise jumped on the back. "They'll try to stop us," yelled Steve back to her.

"I will make sure they don't," yelled Elise back. The garage doors in front of them started to close. Elise focused, trying to stop the doors, solidifying the air, slowing the fall. They barely slid through, racing down the bridge. A quinjet appeared on top of them.

"Stand down, Captain Rogers. Stand down," yelled out the quinjet on the speaker, lowering its machine gun.

"Have you got this or do you want me to handle it?" asked Elise. Steve gave a small smile.

"Repeat, stand down," said the quinjet once more before the bullets started to fly. Elise quickly put up an air shield around them, redirecting each bullet.

"Keep those bullets away from us, I've got the jet," said Steve, braking on the bike. Elise skidded the bike, landing on the ground. Steve jumped across the jet, destroying it methodically. Elise loved that man. As fire and smoke burst from the ship, Steve leaped off, landing in the ground, in what you could only describe as a dramatic pose. Elise struggled not to laugh. "Laugh later, run now," said Steve, as they both headed for the exit, darting quickly across the barrier and disappearing from SHIELD. Steve hotwired a car, and Elise looked at him. "Nazi Germany," Steve replied and it made jet smile. She really did love him.

"Do you want to explain why you leaped out of an elevator and SHIELD tried to kill us both?" asked Elise, jumping into the driver's seat. She was the better driver, and Steve knew better than to argue that.

"I'll explain, you need to drive us back to the hospital. There is something I need from a vending machine," replied Steve, and Elise glanced at him.

"Very specific candy tastes huh?"
