Author's Notes: Hey fellas! For some reason I've actually had the motivation to write this story, which is fantastic. Thanks for hopefully not hating me for the sluggish updates! You're the best!

"Commander, er, Councilman Nebula…?" Buzz stammered.

"Not a word Lightyear," Nebula responded wearing a gray suit that didn't really fit him, and didn't do well to conceal his peg leg. "I didn't want this job. Two things I hate most in the world: Lawyers, and Politicians."

"Why did they take Bo?" Woody asked severely. He wasn't in the mood for small talk.

"Relax, will ya? Jeez, he's just as bad as you," Nebula groaned gesturing to Buzz. "She's fine. The council thought it'd be best if she was off the station just in case-"

"Just in case what?"

Nebula's thick eyebrows furrowed. "That's what we're going to figure out. C'mon" He beckoned them past the frustrated nurse and led them out of the hospital bay.

While following behind, XR whirred blindly scanning a few more files in his data banks. Jessie noticed he was stuck on a beam. She rolled her eyes but shoved him out and walked briskly next to him.

"Does it say anything else about Bo? Like why she'd be in trouble right now?" the redhead asked him.

"No… other than that she's a good guy in our books. Your guess is as good as mine," he replied, eyes coming to life again.

"They took her off pretty fast. They didn't know about it beforehand, did they?" Woody asked accusingly, keeping right in pace with Nebula.

"Woody…" Buzz interjected. "Let's just get to Capital Planet. We'll figure everything out."

The cowboy considered making a derogatory comment on Buzz's judgment of people, but held his tongue.

Nebula led them through a series of corridors and then finally to the launching bay where they loaded into a private carrier and launched immediately. Like the one they had taken to get up to Star Command, it was small and only contained three rooms, but it was a bit fancier. Nebula had stepped out to talk to the crew, so that left the others in the main room to wait.

Woody was pacing while Buzz tried to console him, and Jessie sat next to XR, who had followed them on. Jessie seemed to be the only one paying attention to him though.

"So Nebula, what's his story?" she asked the robot.

"He used to be our old Commander. I guess after the war he joined the council, which doesn't really make sense because he usually can't stand anything that has to do with paperwork. His first love is the fighting. Did you see his peg leg? It doubles as a cannon," XR replied trying to contemplate on his own what was going on. "What about your friend?"

"Bo… She's my brother's girlfriend. They were gonna get married until her brother turned crazy and blew up the whole town."

"Talk about your overprotective brother…"

"Anyway, she's been through a lot. She got really sick, so we took her here… We had no idea this would happen," Jessie said letting her head drop in her hands.

"Hey, buck up. Star Command's protecting Bo. What's the worst that could happen?"

As soon as the shuttle touched at Capital Planet, Nebula resumed leading the others to the Galactic Alliance headquarters, a gigantic building in a large city. He showed a pass to allow the others to come in and they clammered in an elevator filled with other representatives in smart attire.

Buzz couldn't help staring at Nebula. This deal about being a councilman was very out of character. He wondered if he had been fired from Star Command…

On level 283 they stepped out, where the interior was crisp and clean with metallic blues and grays lining the walls. Thousands of offices littered the hall, important sounding names etched on a plaque next to each door. They walked a little ways and finally stopped at an office labelled 'Executive Secretary-of-Defense Carter McNairy.' As they went in they were greeted by a slender woman who told them to sit and wait.

"What happened to Secretary Prany Krale?" Buzz asked thinking about the Secretary of Defense before his leave of absence.

"He was murdered," Nebula replied simply as if this was nothing.

"What? By who?"

Nebula sighed. "How much of the war do you really know, Lightyear?"

Buzz looked stunned by his comment, but after truly thinking about it, he realized how little he knew about what happened other than the events surrounding Bo. Even then, he didn't even know why Alan wanted her blood.

Similar thoughts raced through the minds of everyone else except for XR, who once again was searching through data. When he finished, he broke the awkward silence that had fallen over the group.

"So… Pop, why exactly are you a Senator now?"

Nebula looked over at the robot and grumbled, "Don't call me that."

XR twiddled his fingers. "Avoiding questions Dad? You're a natural at this Politics thing."

"Listen tin can, things have changed a little bit since you and Buzz had a leave of absence. A lot of good people died, and now it's our responsibility to make sure that doesn't happen again, Kapeesh?"

Before XR had a chance to respond, the lady at the desk cleared her throat. "Mr. McNairy will see you now."

The five of them entered the spacious office with modern black furniture and a large window looking out on the city. Atop a few steps was man wearing a smart black suit, but that couldn't disguise his odd face consisting of orange skin, an enormous overbite complete with sharp protruding teeth, and several beady black eyes. Jessie and Woody felt extremely uncomfortable as he extended a claw to Nebula who shook it.

"Welcome back to the Capitol, Senator," he said in a low gravelly voice.

"Have you contacted the President?" Nebula asked.

"He's en route to the briefing room as we speak."

"What about Bo?" Woody brought up anxiously.

McNairy turned and saw the cowboy and chuckled. "Woody Pride, good to meet you. Secretary of Defense Carter McNairy at your service. The Porcelain Cowgirl is safe. They took her to a local government run institution for protection."

"Can I see her?"

"We were hoping you'd be on the response team Pride, given your past experience with Star Command. The team would be led by Lightyear, of course," McNairy responded gesturing to Buzz.

"Of course sir, but with all due respect what exactly are we responding to?" Buzz asked.

The Secretary crossed over them and walked to the window. "We're not exactly sure yet. The council is meeting in an hour to figure out this mess. I suggest assembling your team and then attending. We're going to need details on why they want with an Earthling. I hope you have more information than we do on the matter."
