I slumped forward, tears forming in my eyes.
"Hatch," I stammered. "You will regret this."
I heard him chuckle. "In some ways yes, killing you is a huge waste of potential. I will regret killing you for that very reason. As for your girlfriend, not so much. She was expendable. A lowlife, if you will."
My rage was at a breaking point. Electricity began crackling in the air around me. The death of Wade, the pain our Electroclan had to go through, and now the death of Taylor. It was too much. I couldn't take it.
The RESAT attached to my forearm started to quickly beep, and Hatch shot his head towards a microphone on the table.
"Make it twenty!" He shouted, glancing at me.
The RESAT beeped faster.
"I can't!" A voice came back. "The RESAT is overridden!"
Hatch turned his attention towards me. "Michael!" He uttered, fear growing in his voice.
Instantly, the RESAT made a loud squeling noise, then went silent. Shock and Quentin immediatly doubled over in pain, and Torstyn began swaying. The girls screamed in unison, and my pain stopped. It was replaced by power. Pure power.
I am lightning.
I don't remember much of what exactly happened. It felt like a dream, of sorts. I do remember the screams, and the thumps of bodies falling to the ground.
After my initial shock, (no pun intended,) I stood, and the bands restraining me completely disintegrated. I turned to Hatch, who was writhing in pain on the floor. He was drenched in sweat, and muttering something about an 'Electric Angel'. I knelt down next to him.
"Pathetic," I spat. He looked up to me fearfully, pointing to something behind me.
"Wings..." He muttered, eyes wide with fear. "You have wings!"
I turned my head, and suprisingly, a sparking wing was emerging from my back. I looked to my other side and sure enough, a wing seemingly made of flowing electricity was emerging from the other side. Each wing spanned from my lower back, up to a foot above me. I turned back to the terrified man.
"You hear me, Hatch, and you hear me well," I stammered, almost to the point of growling. "This little game we've been playing of tag, it's over. You kidnap my mother, you hurt my girlfriend, you hurt my friends . . ." I felt my anger boiling up. "Our Electroclan doesn't stand for killing, but for you . . . you, I can make an exception. I -"
And then something strange happened. Being me, I have never felt any kind of shock before. I always just end up 'absorbing' the shock. But I felt a wave of painful needles shoot through me, and I was knocked down to the ground ahead of Hatch. I quickly spun over myself, and saw the boy named Hawk standing in a defensive stance towards me in the doorway, with another pair of electric wings sprouting from his shoulders.
