Aaron and Jackson returned home late from the pub that night, stripping quickly for bed and crashing into the mattress. They didn't care where they had abandoned their clothes, as they sleepily threw them blindly across the room. It had been a couple of hours later, after Jackson interrupted Aaron and holly outside the toilets, did they go home close to midnight. Leaving Hazel to tidy up the state of their bedroom yet again the next morning when they were downstairs. She made their bed first, getting that out of the way before she started to throw the majority of their dirty clothes and towels towards the door to pick up and take downstairs when she went, completely oblivious to the clear packet that fell out on the floor. Hazel quickly put Aaron's and Jackson's clothes in the correct drawers and wardrobe space, knowing if she didn't they would only confuse them with dirty items when she'd only just washed them.
"Alright mum?" Jackson asked, walking in to the bedroom and catching her putting the last of their clothes away.
"Yeah, I'm alright. Just putting your clothes away." Hazel sighed, knowing that at nineteen and twenty three both Aaron and Jackson were capable of tidy their own room.
"Thanks, there was no need for you to do that. I could have done it." Jackson said before Hazel fixed him with a knowing look. ". . . Or not."
"I know you. Look at the pile of clothes there!" Hazel said pointing to the mount of clothes by the door way that Jackson had to step over to get inside.
Jackson shrugged.
"Right, I'm going to put those in the wash." Hazel said picking up the dirty clothes and heading back downstairs again.
"Thanks again!" Jackson called after her as he looked for his Van keys. "Where the hell did I put them?" Jackson muttered under his breath as he crossed the room, stepping on the clear packet with his boots without realizing. He spotted his keys poking out from underneath his pillow, snatched them up and headed back downstairs again.
They had yet another meeting with Harrison later in the morning and they were running behind again, due to Aaron making him finish a game on the Xbox. If he wasn't stupid he would have thought Aaron was making the game drag out as long as possible so they were late getting there. He knew the teen hated going there, but it had to be done.
"When was the first time you met Darrel then?" Harrison asked Aaron who had to talk now whether he liked to or not.
"Bar west." Aaron answered.
"Who were you with when you met him?" Harrison continued, looking at his notes to prompt him.
"Jackson."
"Anyone else . . ."
"A few of Jackson's mates."
"And who spoke to whom first, Did Darrel introduce himself to you?"
"Yeah, I think. . ."
"Did you guys get on? Did you feel intimidated in anyway at all?"
"No, not at first."
"What do you mean at first?"
"Well, What I said. He seemed alright."
"Alright?"
"That's what I said didn't I?"
"You did Aaron. . . When was the earliest time Darrel showed an interest towards you?"
". . .Er, in the toilets."
"Toilets?"
"Yeah, in Bar west, he tried to kiss me."
"Did you allow him to?"
"Of course I didn't! What do you think?" Aaron shouted at him.
"Aaron you can't answer who ever is questioning you at the time in court like that." Harrison told him, halting his questioning for the time being. "It won't win you any favors."
"Don't go asking stupid questions like that then!" Aaron growled at him. Of course he didn't allow the sicko to kiss him! He was with Jackson and even if he wasn't he wouldn't have.
"Sorry, Aaron but I have to. You're going to have to get used to these sorts of questions." Harrison told him harshly. "It's what you'll be facing in court."
"Can we continue?" Harrison asked when Aaron just glared at him.
Jackson wanted to reach across the short gap between their chairs and place a reassuring hand on top of Aaron's but he wasn't sure whether Aaron would be comfortable enough for him to do that. The teen wasn't used to public displays of affection.
"Okay then, did you tell Jackson about Darrel's advances?" Harrison continued.
"Yes." Aaron gritted out through clenched teeth. He didn't like the constant questioning.
"Would you say you and Jackson have quite a trusting relationship?"
"Yes."
"Would you Jackson?"
"Yeah, course." Jackson answered without a second thought.
"When did you tell Jackson about Darrel trying to kiss you?" Harrison asked Aaron.
"The next day I think."
"So not straight after? Or later on that night?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because I didn't!"
"I thought you and Jackson had a trusting relationship, surely you would have told him as soon as it happened."
"We don't live in each other's pockets!" Aaron snapped.
Harrison shook his head. He had his work cut out with this particular client. "Aaron I can't insist any more that you keep calm throughout the questioning. A loss of temper of any sort could be turned round and used against you."
"I don't care!"
"You will do, when they have you tied up in knots and tripping over your own words!" Harrison back fired.
"I can't be done with this." Aaron mutters under his breath as he stands up and heads for the door.
"Aaron, where you going?" Jackson asks, starting to follow Aaron out the office. "Aaron!"
"Sorry about this." Jackson throws towards Harrison before he rushes down the corridor after Aaron, who, despite being on crutches, was getting a move on. "Aaron!" he called after him again.
"What?" Aaron snapped as he stopped halfway down the corridor towards reception and whirled round to face him.
"Where're you going?" Jackson asks again.
"Home." Aaron says before turning on his heel and continuing heading away from Harrison's office.
"Aaron, stop." Jackson orders him. "You can't just walk away from this. Harrison is only trying to help-."
"Well I don't need it!" Aaron shot at him.
"Yes you do! If anything Harrison proved that you do." Jackson said. He'd listened as Harrison had used Aaron's words against him. It was exactly what would happen in court.
"Well I don't!" Aaron growled.
"Aaron!" Jackson said trying to stop the teen once more. "Just come with me back in there . . . we've only got ten minutes left." He tried to persuade. "You'll have a long wait if you stay out here. I'm going back in."
Aaron ignored his boyfriend and continued towards the exit. Jackson was left to go back on his own and finish off the end of the meeting with Harrison, apologizing for the younger man throughout. Aaron however, sat down on a wall outside waiting for Jackson as he took out a cigarette and lit up. He didn't want to sit inside that office and have his stupid stuck up solicitor twist his words and make him look like an idiot. He didn't need all that. He was getting inside his head, making him think and doubt himself. He didn't like it one bit.
"How'd you get on this morning?" Hazel asked when they returned.
Aaron went straight through to the living room and switched the stereo on, turning it up loud.
"Not well then. . ." Hazel commented when the living room door flew shut behind the teen followed by loud thumping music.
Jackson shook his head. "You could say that." Jackson sighed. "He walked out towards the end."
"Why? What happened?" Hazel asked.
"Solicitor was asking him questions, twisting what he said and Aaron didn't like it." Jackson told her. "He just got up and left . . . found him outside smoking."
"Why ever was he twisting what he said? I thought he was on your side?" Hazel exclaimed. No wonder the teen had stormed out; he was going there for help!
"He was-is. He was just showing us how unprepared we were." Jackson sighed running a hand down his face. "I doubt I'll get Aaron back in that office again. He didn't want to go in the first place."
"He will do, he's gonna have to!" Hazel told him beginning to pull the clean laundered clothes out of the tumble dryer.
"I wish it were as easy as that." Jackson argued. "He's not going to be much fun this afternoon is he." He told her, gesturing towards the living room door where the music continued to play loudly.
"I'm not getting involved." Hazel told him as she folded the clothes up carefully.
"I wish I didn't have to sometimes." Jackson admitted. He loved Aaron no end but he was such hard work at times he thought he could do without it all.
"You don't mean that." Hazel said. "Right, I'll go put these away for you now that they're all clean."
"Thanks." Jackson smiled at her as she headed upstairs.
He was going to leave Aaron for the time being. There was no point trying to talk to him while he was still worked up from the meeting with Harrison. For the rest of the afternoon, he'd make them lunch, go through a few more sheets of paperwork and take Clyde for a walk.
