"It looked really good on the website." Hazel chatted as they climbed out of the taxi. They had only just managed to catch the third train by the skin of their teeth, surprisingly, pushing it later on in the night by the time they got to the hotel. "Not far from where Lola is getting married either."
Hazel paid the taxi driver as Jackson and Aaron took their suitcases out of the boot of the taxi. The hotel looked like any other to the young mechanic. He wasn't fussed as long as there was a bed and a bathroom he was happy. But Hazel felt otherwise, she'd told them all about what the hotel had to offer, so many times already, the amount of stars it was awarded, the spa and the swimming pool, along with the bar and restaurant.
"Come on then, let's get booked in. I could do with a lie down after that journey." She said before she yawned. Hazel grabbed the handle of her suitcase and pulled it along behind her as she headed towards the lit up entrance, leaving Jackson to struggle with not only his own suitcase but also the suits and dress covered neatly in their dust bags, while Aaron tried not to laugh at the sight.
After booking in and reaching their floor, they parted ways to their rooms. Hazel had purposefully booked it, so she was down one end of the corridor and Jackson and Aaron the other. They wouldn't know she was there, she hoped she'd leave the boys to themselves, to have a weekend together without anybody disturbing them. She'd go with them to the wedding and go home Sunday night after spending a short time catching up with her sisters, leaving Aaron and Jackson a whole day to themselves and three nights in Manchester. She'd booked Aaron and Jackson a nice room especially for them on her behalf as a treat. They'd been through far too much, it was the least they deserved. Their room over looked the twinkling city below and owned a lovely King size bed.
"I'm Knackered!" Aaron sighed as he ditched his suitcase as soon as he entered the room and crashed out on the beautifully made bed.
"Aren't you going to unpack?" Jackson teased, rolling his suitcase to the wardrobe and parking it in front before handing the clothes bags that contained only their suits on the front. He didn't bother to unpack either, joining Aaron the bed instead and letting out a contented sigh as he sank into the soft blankets.
The builder rolled onto his side and propped himself up by his elbow as he watched Aaron staring up at the ceiling, unaware that his boyfriend was looking at him. It was a little while before he didn't realise, he rolled his head to face Jackson and pulled a face to say "What?" Jackson just laughed, leaned over and planted a sweet kiss on Aaron's lips before working his way to ease the worry from the young mechanic's face.
"What was that for?" Aaron smirked when they pulled away to catch a breath.
Jackson ran a thumb briefly over Aaron's swollen bottom lip, causing the teen to subconsciously bite his lip before the builder shrugged slightly and said "Do I need a reason to kiss my boyfriend?"
"Guess not." Aaron breathed, staring at Jackson's mouth wanting more as he spoke.
The older man noticed and pulled Aaron closer to him, before swinging a leg carefully over the teen's hips and manoeuvring himself on top, so he was straddling the younger man. Jackson was careful not to put any weight on Aaron's cast, even thought it was just twenty days until the cast would be removed, he couldn't help but worry in case something else might happen to make the injury worse. There had already been complications with it. He worked his hands up Aaron's arms, trailing his finger tips softly along his skin as they locked themselves in a longing kiss. It had been too long. The odd hug or kiss now and again and that had been it really He wanted Aaron so much as they began to get carried away, but they couldn't go any further then they were already tonight. It was later, very late, they were exhausted from their journey to Manchester and they needed to get up tomorrow morning for the wedding. Besides there was no way they would be able to work round Aaron's cast. It wasn't long before they tired each other out, tossing their discarded clothes on the hotel room floor they feel asleep.
Morning came quicker than either of them wanted it too. Jackson had smartly put an alarm on his phone to make sure they woke on time. Un-purposefully he left his phone in his jacket pocket, slung over the back of one of the luxurious arm chairs on the far side of the room, causing Aaron to half heartedly punch the builder in the arm until he got up to cease the noise.
"You need to get up." Jackson yawned, scratching his chest as Aaron remained under the covers trying to get back to sleep most probably.
"No I don't." Aaron argued. The bed was far too comfortable for him to get out of at all that day if not forever. "I'm fine here."
Jackson raised an eyebrow, challenging the teen. "Oh yes you do." He said walking back over to the bed with a plan to get the teen up.
"I don't think I do." Aaron teased as Jackson began to climb across the covers to him, until both of his hands were either side of Aaron's head as he looked down at the younger man.
"Aaron . . ." Jackson breathed carefully, lowering his head slightly to place a soft kiss to the younger man's lips. Aaron slinked an arm round the back of Jackson's neck and pulled him closer as he teasingly bit down on his lip. He wasn't sure whether it was because he knew Darrel wasn't around but Aaron wasn't troubled in his sleep last night at all, plus Jackson might have been a contributing factor.
"Stop." Jackson moaned as he tried to pull away. "If we're not in reception in half an hour, mum will come and get us." He promised.
Aaron scrunched his face up. No way did he want Hazel walking in on them. "Thought that would work." Jackson laughed as he hopped off the bed and headed towards the en-suite bathroom. "I'm going for a shower. You better be up by the time I'm finished."
Jackson hadn't been in the shower more than five minutes before there was a knock on the door. Aaron hd reluctantly swung himself out of bed, dressed only from the waist down in a pair of thin jersey sweatpants as he went to answer the door. There was no way Jackson was going to hear whoever was knocking whilst in the shower and he doubted if it were hazel they would go away.
"Room service." The woman dressed in a crisp lilac blouse and black pencil skirt smiled once he'd opened the door. "Breakfast sir." She informed him as she indicated to the trays on the trolley beside her.
A little surprised, Aaron stepped back to allow the woman into their room. She pushed the trolley towards the coffee table by the window and twin armchairs before she carefully placed each tray onto the wooden surface. She removed the lids of each tray and left the room after sending a "Have a nice day" Aaron's way. He hadn't ordered any room service but he wasn't about it turn it down, he was starving!
When Jackson came out of the en-suite bathroom, Aaron was happily tucking into French toast, scrambled egg and bacon. The builder tied a knot in his bath robe and sat down opposite the teen, eyeing the food in front of him.
"What's this?" Jackson asked, pouring himself a mug of fresh coffee while Aaron shovelled a forkful of bacon and egg into his mouth.
"Breakfast?" Aaron answered sarcastically.
"Did you order room service?" Jackson asked. He hoped not. With a hotel with as many stars as the sky he wouldn't be surprised if it cost just as much as one weekly shop for smithy cottage, just to have breakfast sent to their room.
Aaron shook his head, swallowing his last mouthful. "Just eat it." Aaron told the builder as he pushed a plate of untouched yummy looking food his way.
By half ten they were downstairs in reception, showered and dressed up in their suits and ties, waiting for Hazel to meet them. Just as they were about to go up to Hazel's room, the older woman entered reception via the lift, dressed in a deep purple dress and a subtle fascinator in her hair.
"About time." Aaron muttered under his breath as Hazel walked over to them.
"Don't you boys look smart!" Hazel praised as she admired them both.
"That's pushing it a bit for him." Jackson joked looked at Aaron who scowled at him in response to the comment.
"Don't be so mean. I think you look gorgeous, Aaron." Hazel said with a little wink in his direction.
"Mum, no." Jackson cringed knowing exactly what was hidden behind that compliment.
"I was just commenting on how handsome he looks in his suit." Hazel protested mocking innocence.
"What time are we going?" Aaron interrupted loudly, he didn't want to listen to their conversation any longer. When he'd first met Jackson's mother, Hazel had admitted that if she were younger there would be nothing stopping her from climbing over the table between them to get to him.
"The Taxi should be outside." Hazel told them. They'd left Aaron's crutches at home by accident. With the rush to catch a train to Manchester at all the previous night, they'd forgotten to take them with them. Even though the hotel were Lola and Harvey were getting married was only just a mile down the road, there was no way they were going to allow Aaron to walk that distance on his cast alone.
"Right then, let's get a move on!" Jackson encouraged slapping his hands together to emphasise his suggestion.
It didn't take them long to reach the venue at all. Jackson's cousin was holding her wedding at a similar hotel to the one they were staying at to them down the road, at least it looked all the same to Aaron as he followed Jackson and Hazel into the events room which had been decorated tastefully with light blue and white decorations. All three took a seat on the bride's side of the room, sitting patiently as the other chairs filled. Both Hazel and Jackson were constantly being greeted many different members of their family who hadn't seem them in a long while, each time they had introduced them to Aaron. The young man was finding it difficult to keep track of who was who to them, let alone their names, he was glad when the ceremony started and along skipped a little flower girl down the aisle.
"Wasn't that bad was it?" Jackson whispered to Aaron with a slight smirk as they followed the others out of the ceremony room and towards the bar for drinks. He'd had to nudge his boyfriend a couple of times throughout the vows and exchange of rings to keep him awake.
"Yeah, whatever." Aaron shrugged.
"Come on, I think Lola is dying to meet you properly." Jackson teased knowing Aaron didn't feel the same some how.
Aaron rolled his eyes as he allowed Jackson to tug him through the crowd, leaving Hazel behind as she chatted to one of Jackson's aunts, and towards the newly wed bride standing by the bar with a smile on her face as she thanked numerous people for their well wishes.
"Jackson!" Lola exclaimed throwing her arms out to hug the builder.
"Lola! Congratulations on getting hitched!" Jackson laughed.
"Thank you. Couldn't have happened any sooner." Lola said quietly so only Jackson could hear, looking at the man for his response.
Jackson's eyes widen briefly before he quickly pulled together a neutral expression to not give anything away. "Your not?" He hissed.
"I am!" She almost squealed in excitement.
"Well thats. . . fantastic!" Jackson grinned before quickly adding quietly. "If you ever want anyone to baby sit- Aaron here is great with kids." Which only earned himself a deathly glare from the young mechanic.
"You what!" Aaron growled.
"I'm only messing." Jackson laughed.
"Better be." Aaron mumbled. He hated kids. They never listened. They were too loud and whingy most of the time. Like the time charity made Cain allow Belle and her friend Will to wash the cars at the garage. He'd wanted to jam their heads into the buckets of water the whole time they were there just to shut them up!
"So this is Aaron then . . ." Lola commented as she looked at Aaron making him nervous. What was it with Jackson's family? "Your mum happened to mention a few things to my mum about Aaron after you'd introduced him to her."
"Like what. . ." Jackson dreaded.
"Oh, just a few . . . things." Lola teased.
"Oh god." Jackson groaned.
"Don't worry, I won't repeat." Lola laughed.
"Good. Please don't." Jackson said.
"Ah it's been so long Jackson!" Lola suddenly said out of no where. "We need to catch up at some point! I haven't seen you in months- Months! So much has happened, changed- No wait it's been over a year! What happened?"
Jackson shrugged. "I don't know." He said. "Things just happened." He answered truthfully. He'd met Aaron, that's what happened. He'd gotten himself so wrapped up in everything about Aaron that he hadn't allowed himself to step back and take anything else in. He hadn't wanted to.
"Tell me about it!" Lola sighed. "Sorry, but I've got to finish saying hello and thanking everyone as yet!" Lola panicked. "I'll catch you later!" She quickly added before she skirted off to a group of other people.
"That's Lola." Jackson sighed as he looked at Aaron who didn't look at all impressed. He'd grown to realise that the younger man didn't go much on bold, loud, bubbly people which he found to be quite odd considering his own mother was known to be a in your face kinda woman.
"Yeah, I gathered." Aaron said.
"She's lovely once you get to know her." Jackson promised, guiding Aaron to a few stools by the bar. "C'mon, I'll get us a few drinks in!"
It took a while for the wedding reception to get started. They had wanted all sorts of different wedding pictures first. The photographer had a whole list to get through before he was finished. Aaron had found himself dragged into quite a few with Jackson at his side and few without him. He was glad when they were over, realising just how much he didn't like weddings. When the reception started he found himself seated on a table with Jackson and Hazel, as well as a few of Jackson's relations, his Aunts, Jill, Andrea and Pam and their husbands Mike, George and David. Aaron had found it quite funny when Jackson's Aunts and Uncles and Hazel decided to tell little stories about their kids when they were younger, a few of them showing the builder in an embarrassing light. A few times he had begged his relatives to shut up.
"Bless him . . . He cried for a whole week when Lola and Grace took his plastic tool set home with them accidently." Hazel sighed remembering her son when he was five distraught when he couldn't find his favourite toy.
Aaron sniggered behind his glass.
"Mum. . ." Jackson groaned but thankful she'd skipped past a few awkward and embarrassing tales.
"Oh! Hazel, don't forget that time that the girls got Jackson to join in with them when they pretended to be the spice girls!" Pam exclaimed, suddenly remembering.
"Oh my god, Yes!" Hazel grinned. "Aaron, did I ever tell you about that one?"
"No, you haven't." Aaron gleamed despite his boyfriend wishing for the floor to swallow him up. "Which one was he then.
"Don't. . ." Jackson warned.
"Scary spice." Hazel smugly told Aaron, causing the teen to lose control of himself in a fit of laughter.
"I think I have it on tape somewhere." Mike commented idly.
"Oh yes, they all put on a performance to us didn't they!" Jill said excitedly.
"I should have known then really." Hazel sighed, teasing.
"Moving on!." Jackson announced. "Let's change the subject or better yet quiz Aaron on his embarrassing childhood stories."
"Sorry. . ." Aaron managed to get out between his laughter. "I don't -. . . have any embarrassing stories to tell."
"Find that hard to believe." Jackson pushed.
"Well believe it." Aaron smiled smugly. "I never dressed up as a spice girl."
"bet you wished you could have." Hazel teased.
"funnily enough. . . no." Aaron grinned back sarcastically.
"Calling bride and groom to the dance floor for their first dance as Married man and wife!" The Dj announced across the room capturing everyone's attention as they watched the newly wed couple take to the wooden dance floor.
"Aaron. . ." Jackson began, unable to finish his question before the teen jumped in already knowing what he was going to ask.
"No."
"You don't know what-."
"Yes I do. No." Aaron quickly made clear.
"But-."
"No."
"Aaron don't be such a-."
"Still no."
"Aaron!"
"I said no."
Jackson looked pointedly at his boyfriend before trying again. "Aaron listen to what I've got to say before you even dare about saying a word." He threatened. When Aaron made no move but ot listen to the builder Jackson carried n satisfied. "I don't care what you're going to say, you're going to whether you like it or not. Dance with me."
Aaron glared at the builder. "Your joking?"
"No I'm not." Jackson grinned.
"I don't dance. Ever."
"Liar. I've seen you." Jackson smirked remembering catching the teen flicking about his bedroom with the radio on loud as he got dressed, throwing around a few moves when he though nobody was watching.
"No you haven't." Aaron argued.
"Yes I have. So therefore I know you can dance, so you have no option but to do as your told." Jackson said. "Don't make me bring out the 'eyes'." Jackson added.
Aaron sighed and rolled his eyes.
"Aaron. . ." Jackson sung sickly pulling his cutest face.
Aaron looked away embarrassed trying to hide his face.
"How can you resist these eyes?" Jackson said.
"Trust me I can-." Aaron started.
"No you can't. C'mon." Jackson said grabbing Aaron's wrist and pulling him up, almost toppling him over.
"Careful!"
"Oh, shh." Jackson laughed, evidently having consumed a few too many drinks.
Once they reached the dance floor, where a few other people had joined the married couple, Jackson slipped his arms around Aaron's waist and Aaron did the same, linking his hands behind Jackson's back as they begun to sway in time to the slow ballad that played out on the speakers.
"See it's a slow one. No serious dancing needed." Jackson teased into Aaron's ear.
"You're lucky." Aaron joked.
"This could be us one day . . . hopefully." Jackson whispered, staring Aaron straight in the eye.
"Don't be stupid." Aaron mumbled embarrassed as he ducked his head.
"It will be." Jackson said even more quietly, thinking Aaron hadn't heard him.
A/N – Oh my god, I'm so sorry for such a long wait. I'm terrible! I'm so sorry. I just haven't had the time- I've been all over the place lately. I managed to catch a free moment and get this done. I have a lot planned for that one. I struggled a lot with this update, so hopefully it's not incredibly bad! Forgive me. Thank you for all the such a kind reviews and feedback, (story/author/favorite alerts), they help so much to gain and understanding one where you hope for this to go and such like! Thank you.
