Chapter Six
"So his magic's Ice Make? That's not dark at all!" Dumbledore exclaimed, narrowing his eyes at the Four. "So that means his other magic is dark?"
"Not dark," Ravenclaw corrected, "Lost."
Dumbledore blinked, "But isn't most lost magic dark?"
"True, that's very true," Godric said. "But don't worry, I think."
Dumbledore resisted the urge to facepalm. "You think? That's not reassuring… Why can't you tell me what his second magic is?"
"He has three actually!" Godric said cheerily.
Dumbledore's eyes went wide, "Three? But, didn't you say that three is too much?" He leaned forward, suddenly fearful for the boy's health. "Is he going to be okay?"
"Oh three is not too much for a mage's sanity," Helga said, waving it off. "It might start weighing on him, but it depends on the strength of the mage. The stronger he is, the less of a strain. The weaker, well, let's just say two would be too much for a lesser mage. So Harry is going to be fine. He's a strong young man."
"Harry, you didn't tell me you had progressed so far in your wandless magic!" Draco said indignantly. "And for your shield to be so strong it can withstand the troll!"
Hermione frowned, "What happened after Professor Snape and Harry showed up?"
"Well, you see, after they showed up, you so gracefully fainted," Draco said with a flourish. He really did have a flair for the dramatics. "Then Professor Snape distracted the troll with a cutting charm, and somehow defeated it. I wasn't really paying attention to his spells. Then, the troll started to fall backwards since it was unconscious, and nearly squashed Harry flat like a pancake. But then, Harry's wandless magic had apparently improved so much that he was able to conjure a shield of ice to protect himself, and us. However, trolls are not the lightest creatures, so Snape had to pull it off of Harry's shield for us to escape unharmed. Then Dumbledore showed up, obviously very concerned for our wellbeing. Harry chose at that moment to also fall unconscious. Then Professors Snape and Dumbledore carted us off to the hospital wing."
Hermione's eyes went wide, "Harry, you were able to conjure a shield out of nothing and have it hold against the troll?"
Harry fidgeted, "Yeah, since ice's my natural affinity, it's been pretty easy for me to learn it."
"Oh, I'm so jealous!" Hermione exclaimed, "It would be an honor to learn wandless magic form the Headmaster himself!"
Harry nodded uncomfortably. However, he was saved from his discomfort by Ron, who barrelled into the hospital wing. "Hermione! I'm so sorry for saying that to you! You could've died!"
The three turned, and Draco was the first to react. "Yeah, and where were you when the troll came? Stuffing your face in the Gryffindor Tower? If it wasn't for Professor Snape and Harry, we would be dead!" he sneered spitefully.
Ron glared at the blond Slytherin, sharp retort on his tongue, "I wasn't talking to you, snake!"
"Ron! If Draco wasn't there, I'd very much be dead. He was very calm in that situation, and helped me a lot," Hermione scolded. "But I accept your apology."
Ron nodded, "Thanks, but I really am sorry. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that. Like Harry said, you were only trying to help me."
Hermione just smiled tiredly. "So," Harry started, "What are you guys going to do over the Christmas holidays?"
"Oh, my family's going on a vacation to France! I'm so excited, I can't wait to visit the Louvre Museum! It's going to be so fun!" Hermione gushed, cheeks flushed with excitement.
Draco smirked, "I'm going to France as well. Maybe we should go together." Ron raised an eyebrow in disbelief. "If my parents agree," Draco amended.
"Which I doubt they will," Ron muttered lowly. "What about you, Harry? I'm staying at Hogwarts," he asked/ The other two leaned forward, curious of Harry's life outside the school.
"Eh, just going home," Harry said lazily. "Not really doing much. Probably going to have some friends come over."
"Oh, that's it?" Draco asked, frowning slightly.
Harry nodded, "Too many parties to actually go anywhere." As if he was going to tell his friends what he was really going to do for the holidays.
"Hey, Harry? Can you show me what else you can do with your ice powers?" Hermione asked, eyes alight with hopeful eagerness. "If you don't mind…" she added on, sheepishly.
"Oh yes, Harry, you're such a big shot. Everyone's heard about you holding off the troll," Draco said grinning.
Harry just smirked, and held his hands in his Ice Make stance. "Ice Make Floor!" and ice materialized onto the floor, and Ron let out a yelp, slipping on the slippery ground.
"Oi!"
Harry smiled sheepishly, "Sorry about that."
Draco snickered, amused at Ron's mishap. Ron glowered at the Slytherin, who just smirked. Hermione ignored the two, and beamed at Harry, "Is there any way I could learn that?"
With no distraction, Harry just blinked. "Well, your magic right now has adapted to Holder Type magic, which is where one uses a medium to direct their magic…"
"Oh," Hermione said, downcast. "So if I hadn't used a wand, I could have learned this type of magic?"
Harry shrugged, "Maybe, but I know a few Holder Type magics that you would like."
Immediately brightening, Hermione leaned forward, "Really? What're their names?"
"Is there a chance I would also be able to learn a Holder Type magic?" Draco inquired, grey eyes bright with curiosity.
"Yeah, sure," Harry said. "There's Archive, which let's you store any information in it and allows you to access it whenever. There's Card Magic, which allows you to use cards to channel your magic. You can use guns that shoot out bullets of magic."
Hermione's expression was one of elation, "Can you teach me Archive? That would be wonderful! I could read so many books and not forget them!"
Draco rolled his eyes, "Of course you would think that, Granger."
"The guns sound nice," Ron mused, "My father is obsessed with Muggle toys, so maybe learning the gun magic would be cool."
"A gun is not a toy," Hermione muttered absentmindedly, still dazed with Archive.
Draco just scoffed. "So, Draco, what magic do you want to learn? You can also use other weapons," Harry suggested.
"Most purebloods learn how to swordfight, so swords or daggers would be better to work with for me. Easier to learn," Draco said, shrugging. "It'd also be easier to use as well, because it's tradition for purebloods to carry around a sword or dagger." He turned his gaze to Ron, "However, I don't know how you're going to carry around a gun."
Ron blinked, "Oh, right, well, I can just learn how to conjure guns or something."
After arriving at King's Cross, Harry was properly introduced to the Weasleys, Grangers and even the Malfoys. The expression on Lucius Malfoy's face when Draco mentioned going to France with Hermione was priceless. It was as if he had swallowed something unpleasant.
"Of course, Draco, dear, that would be wonderful to know you lady friend," his mother, Narcissa Malfoy said, smiling warmly, if not a bit mischievously.
"Mother!" Draco's pale face was tinted pink.
Harry and Ron tried, but failed to keep the smile off their faces. Ron politely greeted the Malfoys, despite the animosity between the two families' older generations. "I have to go," he said, gesturing to his family, who was waiting for him, "Have a nice holiday!"
"Mr. Potter, what a pleasure," the older Malfoy said, inclining his head in greeting.
Harry smiled charmingly, "Lovely to make your acquaintance as well, Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy." He looked up, eyes locking with Mr Malfoy. "I do hope you have a wonderful holiday. I must be going now, my guardians are waiting."
Draco bade him farewell, and Harry exited through the barrier, walking into nonmagical London once more.
He walked towards a shady alleyway, not hesitating as he stopped in the middle to check his surroundings. Wouldn't be good if anyone saw him.
He concentrated, visualizing his home, and Ultear. With a swirl of magic, he vanished into another world.
