"Half Blood Harry Potter"
By Loki Palmer
Author's Note: Harry Potter and all related characters belong to J.K. Rowling. Percy Jackson and all related demigods (with the exception of Loki) belong to Rick Riordan.
DZ2: Yes, the culprit will have trouble coming, that's a guarantee.
To author lonewolf420: I don't think Lord Moldyshorts would be behind removing Igor Karkaroff's mark, nor are the Titans nor their allies are behind it, for a simple reason that I can explain within this upcoming chapter …
I'm glad everyone has been enjoying the story, and I will try to update it as often as I can, though that may not be as often now that Spring 2016 has begun … you know, classes and work and all that jazz …
Chapter 30
A nest of shivering Slytherins cowered under the table while Loki glared at his Father and his Uncles.
"Well, Loki, My son? We want to hear what in Tartarus could be behind this stunt," said the Lord of the Underworld.
That scary being is Loki's Father? That explains a lot, thought the Slytherins.
"A stunt, Father? I am as stunned and upset about this as my demigod cousins are! People have died in this Tournament before – that was why the Ministry canceled it all those years ago! Why would You think I want to put my life and the lives of my friends in any form of danger?"
"You laugh in the face of danger, don't you, lad?" said Zeus. "Have you given no thought to Thalia – what should happen if you die?"
Thalia yanked Loki back into his seat as she glared at her Father and said, "Daddy, how DARE You insinuate something like that?! Loki, you had better tell us – all of us – did you, or did you not, put the names of your two best friends, as well as your name, into the Goblet of Fire?"
"Τουτο απαξ λεξω ... εν τω Κυπελλω Πυρος το ονομα μου και τα ονοματα των φιλων μου, Χαρις Ποτερος και Περσεως Τζαξονος, ου εθηκα. Μαθητη παλιοτερο εκ μερους μου τουτο τελειν ου αιτησα. Νη την Στυγα τουτο ομνυμι." (I will say this once … I did not toss my name and the names of my friends, Harry Potter and Perseus Jackson, into the Goblet of Fire. I did not ask an older student to do this on my behalf. I swear this by the Styx.)
A rumble of thunder shook the ground. The faces of the Big Three relaxed a bit as Zeus said, "Well, Loki … since the Styx accepted your oath that you have not tossed your name nor the names of Harry Potter and Perseus Jackson into the Goblet of Fire, nor have you asked an older student to do so, and you have not died, you are in the clear as far as anyone could suspect you."
"Oftentimes, My Brother makes Me out to be the bad guy," said Hades. "I may be the Lord of the Underworld, but I am not evil! Scary, yes. Evil, no. As for Harry and Percy … they do not seem as suspicious, even with Harry's uncanny ability to land in trouble every bloody year … a peaceful existence at Hogwarts is too much to ask, I am sad to say ... and Percy would be the type who does not want his friends in danger either, so that consideration clears him, Lord Earthshaker."
"Quite," said Poseidon. "Is this true, Percy?"
"Yes, Father … how could I, or Harry, put our names into the Goblet when Loki added in his pranks to Headmaster Dumbledore's Age Line?"
(Hades shot Loki a grin and a thumbs up.)
"I did not want any part of this Tournament, Father," said Harry.
"I know you didn't, My son, which makes this situation all the more troubling."
"My Lords?" said Headmaster Dumbledore. The Power he could sense rolling off of these Strangers filled him with an awesome terror but he held it down by sheer willpower so his mind would not crack apart. "If You and Your sons would like to come with me into the Trophy Room behind the Great Hall with the other Champions, I am sure we can all find the answer to this … mystery ..."
"We will be right there, Headmaster," said Zeus. "Hermione, Annabeth, Thalia … you three may come as well."
"As for the rest of you," said Headmaster Dumbledore, "go off to bed. Good night."
As Harry walked towards the Trophy Room with the rest of his group, he could sense Ron glaring at his back …
~HALF BLOOD HARRY POTTER~
"Headmaster Dumbledore," said Zeus, "over his years at Hogwarts, Harry has encountered some form of danger. Let Me count these off: first year, Harry went through a whole maze of puzzles with Hermione and Ron to save the Philosopher's Stone from Voldemort, who was in the back of Professor Quirrell's head. Second year, he had the incompetent, cowardly egotist Gilderoy Lockhart as a Professor and faced off against Salazar Slytherin's Basilisk, controlled by the shade of Tom Riddle, so he could save Hermione, and the school by extension. During his third year, at least he had a competent Defense Professor, but you allowed Dementors to be around the edge of the grounds, all to hunt down an innocent man – not that those monsters care about innocence or guilt – meanwhile, the real traitor himself was living as a rat Animagus right under Ron Weasley's nose … Harry, did Ron suffer too harsh a blow to the head, like a kick from a donkey, or what? His half siblings are not that stupid."
Harry shrugged.
"Ah, I digress … now Harry's fourth year has arrived, Headmaster, and in spite of your best protections, somebody managed to put his name, and the names of his two friends, into the Goblet of Fire. As great a man as you may claim to be, Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, your track record shows you to be one of the most untrustworthy people around. Do you have any idea who could have done this?"
"Well, Milord, the sole guesses I can give would be Lord Voldemort, or, if not him, one of his servants."
"Lord Voldemort's hatred of My nephew is a well-known fact to everyone, even to the gods of Olympus and the Underworld, Albus," said Hades. "However, at the present time, he does not have the strength to go anywhere, so it must have been a servant acting on his behalf."
"Neither Professor Snape nor Headmaster Karkaroff could have been behind it," said Loki. "Professor Snape swore on the River Styx that he would protect Harry, and Headmaster Karkaroff seems livid about this unexpected development. As for the other Death Eaters, they are dead. All of them."
CLUNK, CLUNK, CLUNK! Professor Moody's pegleg scraped along the stone floor.
"Well, the young Creepshow has the right idea: the best Death Eater is a dead Death Eater. Are you sure about Headmaster Karkaroff?"
"Why would he put our names into the Goblet when that would offer the host school three extra chances, Professor Moody? Four Champions – the three of us and Cedric Diggory – competing against one Champion, Fleur Delacour and against another Champion, Viktor Krum? It would not be good odds for the other two schools, am I right?"
"Maybe he doesn't care about the odds for his school," said Professor Moody, "but regardless of whether he was the one to put your names into the Goblet of Fire or not, whoever DID put your names into the Goblet of Fire wants the three of you dead … perhaps within the Tournament … or … perhaps after the Tournament. Whoever did this cast a Confundus charm onto the Goblet of Fire, confusing it into accepting the three of you in a fourth school – a magical skill way beyond the skill of any Hogwarts student in his or her Fourth Year, regardless of your demigod abilities, aye?"
"I may not know Headmaster Karkaroff," said Percy, "but, for the reasons Loki mentioned earlier, I do not think he could be behind it … and for one additional reason: there is someone else that is more fitting for this kind of feat." Everyone looked at him. "Remember your conversation with Lady Artemis, Loki?"
"Remember it? To this day, I remember the way She socked me in the face … Son of a Gorgon! You mean to say Luke Castellan, don't you, Percy?" Percy nodded as Loki's face heated up. "I thought we sent that backstabbing bastard down to the depths of Tartarus when we fought him over the skies of New York City!"
"It is obvious that you didn't," said Hades and Professor Snape in a stereo deadpan.
Percy shivered. "Okay … now THAT was freaking creepy … the both of you sounded like twins for a moment … to some extent, with all due respect, you two look like twins."
Professor Snape smirked at him. "As you know, appearances can be deceiving, Mr. Jackson. If you and Lord Potter were in the same House, I confess I would have had a hard time telling the difference between the two of you, in spite of your different Fathers and your different … accents ..."
"Touché, Professor Snape. Can anyone tell us what is the first of the challenges?"
Barty Crouch said, "The first task will be a test of your bravery. Since the unknown can be such a terror to face, we will not tell you what this challenge will be."
"Fair enough, Mr. Crouch. So, since the three of us are in this deadly magical competition, what do my demigod cousins think?"
"Certainty of death?" said Loki.
"Small chance of success?" said Harry.
The three demigods nodded. "What are we waiting for?" they said.
