Screams could be heard as Pein's body fell forward, slumping onto the ground a few feet from where Konan's body lay.
"Open fire!" Danzo screamed at his men, watching as they started to shoot randomly at the people now scrambling away, running for their lives.
He laughed as he watched some of them get hit. Bodies lay all over the yard as his men managed to shoot some of them dead.
"Sir, they're escaping,"
"That's alright, we just need them gone," Danzo said as he looked over the yard, grunting in displeasure at the bodies strewn over his yard and the ones still breathing crying and screaming trying their best to escape the chaos. Smirking, Danzo walked through the mess of bodies and blood to enter the house. He opened the door and looked back at his men still shooting at the others. He knew they had to get the supplies this group had and leave as quickly as possible. The sound of the gunfire echoing around them is most likely going to attract those things.
His smirk widened as he thought of the destruction, he was going to order his men to blow the mansion up so that the other group won't return. Turning around, he let out a soft gasp as a body slammed into his, causing them both to fall to the ground. Once on the ground, the body on top of him let out gurgling noises before ripping into his shoulder, ripping pieces of flesh from Danzo's shoulder. Danzo screamed in pain as all he could see was slicked back silver hair before he passed out. The zombie, whom was previously Hidan, tore into Danzo's throat, blood rushing from the wound and up his throat and out of his mouth as he tried to breathe with the wound on his neck. Danzo's men were momentarily distracted by Danzo's dying screams, rushing to the man to try and help him, though it was already to late. With the men distracted it made for the perfect moment for the others to escape and run for their lives.
Kiba felt his heart pound in his chest as Danzo screamed those two words.
"Open fire!"
He quickly stood, grabbing Shino's hand and dragging him along, trying to get away. Kiba managed to drag Hinata along, trying to save his friends. He grunted out of pain as he was shot in the leg. Quickly letting go of Hinata and Shino he screamed, fear clearly shown in his eyes;
"Get out of here! Go! Save yourselves, I'll only slow you down!"
"No, I won't leave you!" Hinata yelled wanting to go and help her friend, only to stop when Shino fell to the ground, his dark blood splattering on her face as Kiba started screaming, but was shot as well, his blood joining Shino's on Hinata's face. Hinata sank to her knees, staring at her friends' bodies in front of her, feeling a drop of the blood on her face sliding down her cheek.
She could feel the tears prick at her eyes, wanting to slide down her pale cheeks, but Hinata was too shocked to let them fall. Sasuke ran for Hinata, grabbing her and lifting her to her feet and sprinting off, dragging her behind him. Sasuke glanced around, noticing Choji and Kankuro laying facedown a few feet from where Kiba and Shino lay. He felt a tug at his heart, knowing a lot of his friends were dead. Gone, never to come back. He wouldn't be able to see them again, talk to them, see them smile or hear them laugh. He shook his head, noticing Danzo's men were distracted by Hidan eating their leader. He felt a small smirk tug at his lips. Even though the zealot was dead, he still managed to make a good enough distraction for them to escape.
"Sasuke!" He heard Itachi yell from a distance.
Sasuke nodded to himself and ran off into the direction he had heard his big brother, still dragging Hinata behind him.
A few miles into the forest were Naruto, Gaara, Itachi and Kisame waiting for anyone to arrive, hoping that they weren't the only ones who escaped.
"Sasuke!" Itachi said in relief once he spotted his baby brother walk through some bushes. He rushed forward and enveloped the shorter Uchiha in a big hug, relief the only thing he was feeling at that moment.
"Hinata?" Naruto asked, stepping forward, noticing the blood on her pale face as she was breathing heavily, trying to stop herself from crying. Naruto wrapped his arms around her small form as she collapsed into him, sobbing on his chest as she tried to tell him what had happened.
"S-Shino and K-Kiba t-they were- and shot a-and there was so much blood," she whispered, her shoulders shaking violently.
"Shh, it's gonna be okay," Naruto said, running his hand up and down her back, trying to comfort her as best as he could. Kisame stood there, watching awkwardly as Itachi hugged his brother, feeling out of place. Gaara was staring to the side, watching for any sign of their enemy.
"Did you see anyone else?" Itachi asked as he pulled away from his brother.
Sasuke shook his head, then turned to Gaara.
"No, although, Gaara, I'm sorry, Kankuro-" Sasuke started, but cut himself off as he noticed the small frown on Gaara's face as he closed his eyes, taking a deep breath.
"Who else?" Gaara asked, his voice slightly more scratchy than usual.
"Choji, Neji and TenTen, I think," Sasuke answered, a saddened look on his face.
Gaara let out an annoyed sigh before placing his right hand over the left side of his chest, blood dribbling down between his fingers as he placed pressure on the wound. Kisame frowned, knowing the redhead's wound was serious and that he could bleed out. Kisame himself was wounded on his right side, but knew it was only a graze, but it still stung and needed to be cleaned and stitched up. He glanced around thoughtfully, thinking of a place they could go.
"Are you hurt?" Itachi asked, looking his little brother over, checking for any signs that Sasuke was hurt.
"No, I'm fine," Sasuke answered, frowning at his brother.
"Good, we should leave, the forest is going to be covered in them," Itachi stated, looking at the others, his gaze lingering on Gaara before moving on.
"Where are we going, 'Tachi?" Kisame questioned.
"Maybe there's a house nearby?" Naruto asked, still holding onto Hinata.
"The college," Itachi said quietly to himself.
"The college? But they broke down all the doors, there's no way we could lock them," Sasuke said, a frown on his face.
"No, not the room we were in, Pein's room, right Kisame?" Itachi asked, looking at his lover with concerned eyes. Kisame felt his heart clench at the mention of his friend's name. He nodded slowly;
"Yeah and it was cleared when we were evacuated, so the chances of those things being there are a lot less," Kisame answered, starting to smile at the idea of having a secure home again.
"We should go then, get there as quickly as possible. Gaara's wound needs medical attention as soon as possible, we don't want him passing out at the wrong time," Itachi said, glancing at the redhead who had a scowl on his face, completely offended that they would even think he would pass out at all. Kisame grinned, knowing if it were to happen, he would do everything in his might to save his friends, even if it meant carrying them should they pass out. He didn't want what just happened to happen again. Slowly, the group moved on after waiting a few more minutes should anyone else arrive. They were soon back on a road heading towards the college, eventually slowing down as Gaara was becoming faint, his chest aching and out of breath. His left arm was slung over Sasuke's shoulder who tried to help him walk, wincing every time Gaara let out a grunt or moan of pain.
"Alright, I think we should take a break," Itachi said, noticing how much they had slowed down. Sasuke nodded and half walked half dragged Gaara to rest him against an abandoned car. Gaara grunted as he was leant against the car before sliding down and resting his head against the slightly warm metal. Gaara glared half heartedly at Sasuke who smirked at him. Itachi soon joined Gaara and sat down as well, the others following and sitting in a sort of circle. Naruto sat next to Gaara, looking at him worriedly, hoping the redhead would pull through and make it.
"Are you okay?" Naruto asked. Gaara glanced at him, nodding slowly.
"Are you tired?" Naruto questioned once again, feeling his worry double at the redhead's slow replies. Gaara slowly shook his head before he went limp, his head lolling to the side as he slumped against the car.
"Gaara!" Naruto yelled, attracting the other's attention as well.
Sasuke scrambled forward, placing his hand on Gaara's neck, feeling for a pulse. It was silent before Sasuke let out a breath and turned to the other's, a small relieved smile on his lips.
"He's okay, he just passed out," Sasuke explained, noticing the look on Naruto's face, relief, worry, nervousness and something else that Sasuke couldn't pinpoint was showing on his best friend's face.
"H-How are we going to keep m-moving?" Hinata asked timidly.
"I'll carry him," Kisame said as he stood up and walked to the redhead.
"Are you sure?" Naruto asked.
"Yeah, we're not that far from the college so it won't be that bad," Kisame explained as he lifted Gaara and slung him over his shoulder.
"Let's hurry," Kisame said, grunting at the added weight of the boy.
"Jesus, he's a lot heavier that he looks," Kisame grunted as they started walking at a fast pace.
Fifteen minutes later and they had arrived at the college. Naruto glanced around, noticing that his father's corpse was still there. He sighed as they silently walked into the building. Everything was eerily quiet as they climbed the stairs, moving quickly. Once they arrived at the room, Sasuke quickly closed and locked the door behind them. Kisame placed Gaara on one of the two beds, sighing in relief when the added weight was gone.
"There should be a first aid kit here somewhere," Itachi mumbled as he shuffled around, looking for said first aid kit.
"Over here," Kisame said as he went into the bathroom and got the kit from the cupboard.
"Thank you, Kisame," Itachi said, a small smile was flashed at Kisame before the raven went over to the redhead.
"We should get another bed in here, don't you think, Itachi?" Sasuke asked, glancing around the room. It was small, but big enough to be able to fit another bed in.
"Moving a bed would make to much noise," Kisame stated, watching as Itachi cut off Gaara's black shirt.
"A mattress then?" Sasuke questioned, looking at Kisame.
"Yeah, let's go," Kisame said, motioning for Sasuke to follow.
"We'll be back," Sasuke said as he walked to the door, following Kisame out.
"Hn," Itachi grunted as he started to look over Gaara's wound. Luckily he had medical training.
"M-maybe N-Naruto and I should look for food, weapons m-maybe?" Hinata said, a her arms wrapped around herself.
"Very well, just hurry up and don't leave this floor," Itachi instructed, glancing at the two.
"Alright, see ya, Itachi," Naruto said as he and Hinata left the room, going down the hall.
Kisame walked over to the next room, looking it over before nodding, motioning for Sasuke to come in. They lifted the mattress and started to drag it out of the room.
"Where are you guys going?" Sasuke asked once they were in the hall, noticing Naruto and Hinata walking down the hall.
"We're gonna look for food," Naruto said, a wide smile on his face.
"Okay, be careful," Sasuke answered, nodding slowly.
"Sure, hey, be sure to get extra blankets and pillows, oh and some clothes too!" Naruto said excitedly as he turned and walked away with Hinata.
"Bossy bitch," Sasuke muttered as he narrowed his eyes at Naruto's back.
Kisame chuckled as they moved the mattress again, walking into the room.
"Where do you think we should put this, 'Tachi?" Kisame asked.
Itachi looked up from cleaning Gaara's wound, looking at the two behind him. He thought for a moment. Deciding that they should put it by the door. The other two beds were directly in front of the door with a wide walk space between the two. The bathroom door was to the right of the door and to the left was a desk and dresser. The right side also had a closet. Sasuke and Kisame placed the mattress by the desk and dresser, deciding they would move the desk out the next day and use the dresser to put in front of the door at night as a precaution. Sasuke and Kisame left again to get the extra blankets, pillows and clothes Naruto had requested.
Itachi began stitching the redhead's wound, glad that he was able to get the bullet out and that there was minor damage. Once he finished stitching he quickly wrapped a bandage around it and stood, pulling a blanket over the unconscious boy. He glanced over his shoulder at the sound of the door opening. Sasuke walked in with multiple blankets, pillows and what looked like clothing. Kisame had the same, though a noticeable amount more than Sasuke. They placed the items on the unoccupied bed. Sasuke sighed before collapsing on the bed and groaned. It was silent a few minutes before Naruto and Hinata entered, carrying arms full of canned foods and bottled water. Naruto dumped his things next to Sasuke, snorting when a can of food hit Sasuke in the face.
"Is he gonna be okay?" Naruto asked, sitting down next to the redhead, a concerned look on his face.
"Yes, he just needs rest," Itachi stated, staring out of the window before turning and motioning for Kisame to sit on the bed.
"Take off your shirt, I need to check your wound," Itachi stated, pulling multiple tings he needed from the kit. Kisame did as instructed, pulling off his shirt and watched as Itachi examined him. It was dark when everyone settled down to get some sleep having just finished eating, though Gaara was still unconscious. Naruto crawled in next to the redhead and almost instantly fell into a deep sleep. Itachi and Kisame decided to take the mattress on the floor as they settled in too. Hinata blushed as she climbed into the bed she would be sharing with Sasuke. She was laying by wall, her back facing the raven. Sasuke smirked before wrapping his arm around Hinata's small waist and cuddled into her, nuzzling his face into her neck. He smiled when he heard her breath hitch as she stiffened in his arms, but relaxed soon after. Sasuke sighed in content, enjoying the silence before Naruto started snoring lightly. He rolled his onyx eyes, but closed them soon after, greeting sleep happily after the hectic day.
