Kakashi managed to kill yet another zombie. This was really bad. He thought that they might be at least a little safe here on the open road, but then a thick mist rolled in and he can't see even three feet in front of him. Not to mention the fact that Lee was a sobbing mess in the middle of the road. Lee knew he was in danger and probably endangering his friends, but he just couldn't bring himself to care at that moment. The way he felt at that moment, was making him consider taking his own life. Not only did he loose Gai sensei and Sakura, but his other friends as well. Neji, TenTen, Hidan, Choji, how many more was he going to loose before it got too much for his fragile heart to bare? To make matters worse, they weren't even sure if Naruto and the others are still alive. What would happen if Naruto died? Or stopped smiling, even? Lee had to admit, just one look at that bright and happy smile, could brighten even the darkest of days. A world without Naruto's smile, won't be a world worth living in. Perhaps that's all he needed. One of Naruto's bright, reassuring smiles. Yes, that's all he needed at that moment. Shaking his head, Lee stood in time to save Shikamaru from being bitten. He was confident that the others were fine, they certainly were a tough bunch.
Gaara groaned again, his body shaking from the severity of the pain he felt. Naruto held onto him tightly, trying to be as reassuring as possible, though it was hard when the love of your life was writhing in pain. Itachi bit his lip, the infection was spreading a lot quicker than he originally thought. If this kept up, Gaara wasn't going to make it through the next day. It was already nightfall, but they had to. If they didn't, Gaara was going to die.
"We have no choice, we have to go to the pharmacy," Itachi said, sighing when Naruto started protesting almost immediately.
"If we don't go now, it's going to be too late," Itachi said, a frown on his face.
"Let's do it, brother," Sasuke said, a determined look on his face.
"Tobi wants to come too!" The masked man said, a little bit too cheerful.
"Alright," Itachi walked to the door, opening it, he turned to the others as they followed behind him.
"Good luck, Itachi," Naruto said softly. Itachi nodded, closing the door once the three of them were outside. They managed to sneak out of the building without much trouble. A few zombies lingered outside, but nothing that they couldn't out run. Luckily there was a pharmacy not to far away from the college, Itachi just hoped they had what they needed. Naruto turned back towards the redhead. The blond was sitting next to him on the bed, watching as Hinata placed a wet rag on the pale redhead's sweaty face.
"Just hold on, Gaara," Naruto whispered, eyes narrowing slightly.
Kisame was pacing around the living room of the house he and Zetsu were stuck in. He had a really bad feeling, his stomach twisted into knots, causing him to be nauseous. An overwhelming sense of dread fell over him. He had to leave.
"Calm down," Zetsu said gently.
"I can't, somethings wrong," Kisame said, biting onto his pointer finger.
"Wrong? Like what?" Zetsu asked, alarmed.
"I don't know, I just- I have to leave," Kisame rushed to the door, about to move the sofa out of the way.
"Wait! Are you sure about this?" Zetsu asked, stopping Kisame.
"I am. I don't know how, but I think something might be wrong with Itachi," Kisame explained, his worry shining in his eyes. Zetsu studied the man for a moment before sighing.
"Alright, let's go," Zetsu said, grabbing his weapon before walking towards Kisame.
"Your coming too?" Kisame asked, confused.
"Yes, if something is wrong with Itachi, then something could be wrong with Tobi," Zetsu explained, a stern look on his face, though his own worry could be seen dancing around in his eyes. Kisame stared at Zetsu for a few moments before giving a firm nod, taking a deep breath. He was relieved that he didn't have to go alone.
Kisame moved the sofa, opening the door a small crack to glance around quickly. There were a few zombies littered around, mindlessly shuffling around. Kisame nodded to Zetsu and flung open the door, running out and down the steps, Zetsu hot on his heels. The commotion grabbing the zombies' attention, causing them to turn around and shuffle towards the two men, grabbing at them all the while, though they were really just grabbing at air. Zetsu stabbed his knife through one of them who got a little too close for comfort, quickly following behind his friend. Kisame shoved one away, turning with quick reflexes to stab another behind him.
"This way!" He yelled at Zetsu, the two quickly running back into the forest. Luckily, the of them knew where they were now that they weren't as panicked. Running as fast as their legs could carry them, they moved to the abandoned road that led to the college.
Iruka stabbed another zombie, having nearly gotten bit, he turned in time to shove another away. The group was slowly making their way down the road, however, Iruka was almost certain that a horde was making it's way towards them. With the amount of zombies they had killed already and the figures coming towards them that could be seen through the thick fog, it was definitely a possibility. Lee ducked a zombie, quickly standing up straight and punching it in it's face. Disgust quickly made it's way onto his face as his fist broke through the skull and came out at the other side. Surprised at how soft this one's skull was, Lee drew his fist back, briefly shaking it to rid of the remnants of flesh and brain, he turned and went for his next one, though he was starting to tire.
Kakashi fell as he tried to fight off two zombies that were trying to tear into his flesh, he tripped over a corpse, the two following close behind, snapping their rotting teeth at his panicked face.
"Kakashi!" Iruka yelled, desperately trying to make his way over towards his lover, but was constantly interrupted when a zombie would come at him, grabbing and trying to sink it's teeth into his tan skin. The silver haired man tried kicking at least one off, but couldn't bring his leg up. Just as the female zombie was about to bite into him, a knife was stabbed through her skull, stilling all her movements. The other one was quickly taken care of by Kakashi himself. He pushed the corpse of the woman off him, panting slightly as he sat up, looking up towards his hero's face only to be met by a hand stuck in his face. Kakashi grabbed it, surprised by the strength of the person as they pulled him to his feet without his help.
"Kisame," Kakashi breathed, relief flooding over him.
"Looks like I came just in time," Kisame grinned, his razor sharp teeth briefly glinting in the moonlight.
"Where are the others?" Kakashi asked as he killed yet another one.
"At the college, we were looking everywhere for you," Kisame answered as he roughly kicked a small man away from him.
"We should hurry and go, now!" Zetsu yelled, quickly leading the group down the road.
Itachi glanced around a corner to make sure that there weren't too many zombies around and, to his relief, he could only see about two shuffling and stumbling around. He turned, nodded to the two behind him and quickly ran towards the door that led to the pharmacy. Sasuke opened the door, glancing around as the other two Uchiha's entered, quickly closing the door behind him once inside. Itachi was almost instantly jumped by a zombie though managed to quickly kill it. Grabbing his knife, a line of blood following the blade's exit, he stood straight, listening for any sounds that could be heard in the deafening silence. Nothing could be heard.
"Alright, I think it'd be best to split up, be cautious," he instructed. Sasuke and Tobi nodded before quickly going in different directions. Tobi going behind the counter, searching through the racks and cupboards there. Sasuke snuck down a hall, going to one of the store rooms. The pharmacy was surprisingly large, holding nearly any medication. Itachi looked down at the zombie he had killed, noticing that it was, in fact, a security guard. He bent down, quickly looking for any sign that he might be holding a weapon. To his surprise and delight, he found a gun and a Taser. Shrugging, he took both items carefully and walked down the same hall Sasuke disappeared in. Deciding to start at the end of the hall and work his way back, Itachi entered the last room at the end of the hall, slightly nervous. The room held a number of steel racks, stacked with all kinds of medication. Sighing, he quickly walked to one nearest to him, searching as fast as he could. He was surprised when he found what he was looking for as quickly as he did, but grabbed the package quickly, turning to exit the room. A gasp tore from his throat as he was mercilessly tackled into the steel rack, a piercing pain spreading through him, starting from his left shoulder. Sasuke sighed, frustrated as he ran his fingers through his dark hair. The silence was broken by a loud crash that was followed by multiple crashes, each as loud as the first. Sasuke ran out of the room he'd been searching in, following the sound, he rushed into the room, only to be greeted by a sight he never wanted to see.
"Itachi!"
