It was silent, eerily so. It was well past midnight and Naruto had finally stopped crying, though he had fallen asleep in Sasuke's arms. Kakashi and Kisame had taken it upon themselves to move Gaara, taking his body out of the room and the building. Sasuke stared at the dark ceiling, not being able to fall asleep himself. Naruto had clutched onto him and refused to let go, even in his sleep. Sasuke guesses that he somehow reassured his friend or gave him a strong sense of comfort. Now, he lay here on his back with his blond friend still holding tightly onto him. Hinata lay on his other side, her back pressed against him as she slept. They were all forced to share beds, seeing as they didn't want to be separated again. They managed to squish in another mattress and everyone could sleep at least a little comfortably.

But it was too silent. The room felt cold, despite so many people being in there, a chill still crawled up and down Sasuke's spine. He felt as though something was going to happen, something very bad.

Still, Sasuke lay there, not moving as he stared at the ceiling, the image of his brother's bloody body still fresh in his mind. He turned his head, choosing to stare at the back of Hinata's head instead, wanting something to distract him from the pain that gripped tightly onto his heart. There was a noise from downstairs and it caused both Sasuke and Lee to sit up straight. Lee was keeping guard, sitting by the door on a pile of folded blankets so that it wouldn't be to uncomfortable. Lee couldn't sleep either, so he decided to keep watch instead, to be useful.

Lee stood slowly, staring at the door before he turned to Sasuke, wondering what he should do. A loud crash caused them both to jump and Kakashi to sit up, staring at the door as well. The silence caused their ears to ring, their hearts to beat in anticipation. The sound of footsteps finally reached their ears, causing them to jump up, waking most people in the room, whispering harshly at them to get up. There were zombies in the building and by the sound of the footsteps as well as the groans, it was probably a horde.

Silently, they all gathered their things, knowing that if they didn't get out now, they might be stuck there for who knows how long. Once they were ready, they all stood by the door, getting ready to run if they had to.

Kisame slowly opened the door, cringing when it creaked rather loudly in the deathly silence. He stuck his head out the door, looking both ways before he stepped out silently and carefully. He motioned for the others to follow as they slowly walked down the hall. It was silent and eerie, everyone feeling tense. A loud bang made them all jump and whip around, only to see a large group of zombies clumsily turn the corner, roughly bumping into each other. Once they spotted the group, they started moving for them, grabbing at them and snapping their teeth. The group started running, trying to get away as fast as possible, but another group came around the corner they were aiming to escape through. Kisame cussed loudly as one tackled him, nearly biting into his flesh.

The group started killing zombies, knowing they had to get a way through them, but it seemed futile at that moment. Temari struggled against three as they desperately tried to bite into her, but she was saved by Shikamaru who smirked at her arrogantly. They managed to get through with everyone unharmed and started running, killing and shoving random zombies that got in their way. They ran onto the open road. The sound of them panting harshly and heavily was the only thing to be heard at that moment.

"Where do we go now?" Shikamaru asked, standing up straight, his back cracking.

"I don't know," Kakashi shook his head, his hands on his knees as he tried to catch his breath. Tobi clung to Zetsu, whimpering quietly. The boy was afraid and refused to let go of his lover.

Kisame stared at the road in sadness, his heart beating in pain as he caught a glimpse of the lovers. He missed Itachi, but he wouldn't let the others see him cry. They had to be strong, at least until they found a new place to stay, then he would allow himself to mourn the loss of his own lover.

Sasuke watched his best friend from the corner of his eye. The blond was unusually quiet as he stared at the ground. Hinata stood by his side, but kept quiet, knowing that it was probably best to leave him be. She lost her cousin, but with the way things are going, she would have to wait a while before she could mourn the loss of her brother figure. That's when she realized something, they could to the Hyuga mansion, she was sure that they could go there, but it would be a rather long walk from here, all the way back towards the high school and further.

Should she speak up and tell them? Yes, she had to! At least it was a place they could go and the walls were high so none of the zombies could have gotten inside. They would have to climb the gate, but it wouldn't be too hard, she had done it a few times herself. Nodding quietly, she took a deep breath.

"Hinata? You look like you want to say something," Kakashi spoke, staring at the girl.

She made a sound of surprise before blushing, noticing that everyone's eyes were on her, she slowly spoke up.

"T-the Hyuga mansion, we could go there," she spoke softly.

"Mm, but that's quite far away," Kakashi spoke, a thoughtful expression on his face.

"Yes, but it would be the safest place. We already have gardens full of fruits and vegetables, the walls are high, so no zombies could get inside, even if they lay all their weight on it, it would be impossible. The only zombies that could be inside are family members. There's a special code on the door to go inside the house and only a Hyuga knows it, so no one else could be inside," she explained, her voice soft.

"We might as well, we have no other place we can go," Iruka spoke, trying to convince Kakashi, he knew it was the safest place to go for now, and the only place they have.

"Alright, we stick to the open road and try to find a place where we can rest before we go on," everyone nodded in agreement and started walking.

It was silent as they walked, each of them tense and looking side to side, not wanting to be caught off guard.

Hinata stayed close to Sasuke and Naruto, feeling very nervous. The fog from earlier was still there, but not nearly as thick and could easily be seen through.

"I-I think I should tell everyone the code for the door," Hinata spoke softly, causing the two boys to stop and turn to her.

"Why?" Naruto asked, looking sceptical.

"Just, i-if something happens, t-then we'll know where to find each other again and anyone who gets there, can wait inside, safely," Hinata looked down to the ground, feeling shy.

"Hn, that is a good idea, Hinata," Sasuke complimented, causing the young women to blush severely.

Sasuke called the others, gathering their attention as Hinata spoke up, giving them the code and reason as to why she was doing so.

As they were about to continue, a large horde could be seen coming their way from nearly all directions. Panicked, the group ran into the woods where they were constantly being intercepted by zombies. They dodged as they ran, hoping that they won't loose anyone. Hinata and Sasuke were cut off by a large group, causing them to still as they tried to look for a way out.

"This way!" Sasuke yelled, grabbing Hinata's hand and dragging her along with him.

They dodged most of the zombies, sprinting as they ran in the clear direction, but as they got closer, Sasuke stopped, his feet dragging in the dirt as they came to a stop, Hinata slamming into his back.

"There's no way out, we're stuck!" Sasuke said, his breathing heavy as he panted.

Hinata turned, looking with wide, panicked eyes as the horde of zombies slowly made their way to them. She turned her head to the left, looking down the edge of the cliff they were standing on. It would be scary, and the water down below would no doubt be freezing, but she'd rather take her chances with that rather than the zombies.

"There is a way out," she said as she dragged Sasuke back slightly.

"What?" Sasuke asked in confusion.

"We jump," she said, turning to look him directly in the eyes. Sasuke's eyes widened in disbelief. Was she insane?! Though, he did glance back, a troubled look on his face. In a world like this, insane might just help them survive. Nodding slowly at her, he tightened his hold on her hand, feeling slightly nervous.

"On three," Sasuke said, gathering his courage. It was a long way down.

"One, two," Hinata started.

"Three!" The two yelled together, running to the edge of the cliff, they jumped, still holding each other's hands. The water was freezing cold, enveloping their bodies, but it was better than being eaten alive. As the two surfaced, they gasped out, breathing heavy as the coldness instantly had their bodies shaking, but they were alive, and currently, that was the only thing that mattered.
