Lyra grinned happily to herself as she walked through the streets of Goldenrod City. It was huge! People dressed in sharp business suits bustled around her, shoving her this way and that, but she really didn't mind.
"Eeeeeveeeeee~!" a small voice cried out. Lyra glanced around, then saw a small little Eevee running up to her with the biggest grin on its face. "Eevee!" it exclaimed its name again as it scrambled up onto her shoulder.
"Eevee! Come back girl!" a woman cried, rushing up to her. She had two little girls-one with her hair down the other with her hair in braids, holding hands next to her, cradling a little baby in her right arm, dangling from the same wrist was a sack of groceries. One of her daughters held onto her hand, which seemed almost limp. "I'm sorry, she doesn't normally do this."
"No, it's fine. I think she likes me!" Lyra laughed.
"Mama, Mama, can we have the ice cream now?" asked one of the girls. The woman shook her head.
"When we get home, okay?" she said.
"Do you want help?" Lyra asked. "It looks like you have your hands full!"
"Yes, please." the woman said, letting out an sigh of relief. She glanced around, then looked down at her two daughters.
"Okay, girls, help Mama and hold William, okay?"
"Alright Mama!" exclaimed the one with pigtails, and gently cradling her little brother. Once sure the baby was safe, the woman turned back to Lyra, her left arm indeed hanging limp.
"Here, can you take the bag, please?"
"Sure!" Lyra said happily, taking the groceries from her. The woman turned back to her two daughters.
"Can you give Mama William back?" she asked.
"Yeah, Mama!" the said in union as they passed the baby back to her. Once having him settled securely in the crook of her right arm again, she grinned at her daughters. "Alright, Paige, Chloe, take Mama's hand, lets go!"
"Alright!"

"So you lost the use of your left arm about three years ago, Daisy?" Lyra asked, taking the cup of tea that Daisy offered her while Paige and Chloe played in the other room and William took a much needed nap.
"Yeah." said woman smiled. "It took a while, but I adjusted to being reliant on only one arm. Technically, they thought I wasn't going to wake up for at least a year from the coma, but I did, and came out with one arm less. Now look where I am," she smiled. "I have a wonderful husband, darling twins and a little baby boy."
"You're lucky. Team Rocket is ruthless." Lyra commented. "So, going from Pallet Town to Goldenrod must be a big change, huh?"
"Oh, do you think we live here? No we live in Viridian, close to my brother and his gym. Maybe you'll get to challenge him one day!" Lyra chuckled to herself at Daisy's statement. "Anyways, this is just a small cottage-house that Bill rents out whenever he needs to go on a business trip. We came here to surprise him."
"Aw~! That's sweet!" Lyra said as Eevee curled up on her lap. Lyra looked down at it. "I think she really likes me." Daisy smiled.
"I suppose so." she said. "Bill was always fascinated by Eevee and its multiple evolutions. He plans to have Eevee become the starter pokémon for our children when they come of age."
"But aren't Eevee's incredibly rare? Won't it be hard to find one let alone three?" Lyra mused while trying to hide a laugh as Eevee scurried up atop her head. Daisy smiled at this, and shook her head.
"Bill has connections." Daisy answered with a wink. Lyra tilted her head to the side, then looked at Daisy.
"Excuse me, but do you have connections with Leaf Green?" Daisy paused putting away a can of alphabet soup, then nodded.
"Yes, though she isolated herself atop Mt. Silver, of all places. Rarely ever comes down." Daisy said, placing the soup in the cupboard and turning to sit across from her with her own cup of tea. "It's so sad, really. All she wants when she comes home is peace and quiet and some dinner with Gary, but instead she gets cameras shoved in her face. She's just a teenager, and she barely ever got to live!" Daisy exclaimed angrily. She took a deep breath. "I worry about her, you know? I mean, she's practically a sister to me, and I know that the minute she finds what she's looking for, my idiot brother is going to pop the question... But I worry. She used to have this shining light in her eyes like you wouldn't believe. Like she could read your moves in battle, and always seemed to have a witty counter remark or attack, depending on the situation. But now its practically gone... All because she won the Championship title and became the youngest person ever to hold it."
"Youngest? I thought Gary was..." Lyra said thoughtfully to herself. Daisy smiled.
"Leaf is a year younger than my brother. She's the youngest, and has yet to loose it. She never lost to anyone, not once since she started her journey. Only person who came close to beating her was Gary, but she still went out with a bang." Daisy smiled slightly, a hint of pain hidden behind her eyes. She smiled, though, when Eevee crawled back onto Lyra's shoulder and snuggled her cheeks against hers. "Honestly, Lyra, I think you should take her with you."
"Who, me? No! I can't!" Lyra said, looking at her though trying to hold back laughter. Daisy smiled.
"I think you should. She really likes you!" Daisy smiled, then glanced at her tea cup, pain hidden in her eyes. "Hey, I want to tell you something. I know this may sound strange now, but if you ever obtain the championship title, do me a favor and turn it down, okay?" Lyra looked at her and laughed.
"Me, Champion? Come on!" Lyra said. "I'm no good at anything..." she said, a hint of pain in her voice, though quickly covered up with a smile. "Besides, I don't even think I deserve the honor of owning a pokédex! I'm nowhere near the same level as Leaf Green." Daisy smiled, a hint of amusement in her eyes.
"You know, Leaf didn't start out as an almighty trainer." Daisy said. "While Gary pursued power and the ultimate team, Leaf had a tendency to take in those who were unwanted or helped her. Her Venusuar was a shy little Bulbasuar when it started out. Her Pidgeot was the weakest Pidgey in the flock. Her Pikachu was an abandoned baby, and her Slowking was left behind by his previous trainer. Her Flareon was a bruised, beaten, and broken Eevee in Celadon City's allyways, and her Lapras had not only saved her life, but also Gary's." Daisy said, staring into her tea as if it held all the answers. "She changed them into a strong and powerful team, Lyra. She didn't pick and choose pokémon, her pokémon sought out and chose her. That's why," she reached out and scratched Eevee behind her ears. "I think you should take this Eevee. She sought you out and chose you as her trainer, and that's a bond that can't be broken once it is formed."
Lyra mulled over this as Daisy pulled her hand back, thinking about how crazy deep her little speech was. She took a sip of her tea, the first time she touched it since Daisy set it out for her. She widened her eyes.
"Oh my Arceus..." she said. Daisy looked up, a knowing smile on her face. "THIS IS THE BEST TEA I EVER HAD!" Lyra shouted happily.

Silver wound through the streets of Goldenrod, not at all happy with the people crowding around him with every turn. Finally, he managed to spot the pokémon gym. He smirked. Normal types? Wouldn't be all that useful against his Haunter. He smirked to himself and turned, only to run smack into a woman guarding the doors. He looked up at her and glared.
"Move." he said.
"Huh?" she asked stupidly, as if just noticing his presence now.
"Move out of the way, I want to challenge the gym." Silver said. "How much clearer do I need to make it for you?"
"The gym leader isn't accepting challengers right now." the woman answered. Silver glared, and the woman flinched. "Um, uh, she went to the Radio Tower to try to win a radio card!" she exclaimed.
"Any idea," he said, patience thinning with every passing moment. "When she'll be back?" the woman shook her head.
"Nope. No idea." she said. "Between you and me, she's not very bright, but very persistent. She'll keep answering those questions over and over again until she gets it." she glanced at her watch. "She's been gone for an hour or so..." Silver rolled his eyes, and turned to go towards the radio tower.
He rolled his eyes, walking inside, only to spot none other than Lyra standing across from a receptionist, and Eevee on her shoulder.
"An Eevee?" Silver wondered. "Where does this girl get such rare pokémon?" He watched as the receptionist went and gave her back the girls pokégear, smiling happily.
"Congratulations, your reward is a Radio Card for your pokégear!" she exclaimed in a voice that said I'm-paid-to-smile-and-act-like-this. Lyra, of course, seemed oblivious to the whole act. She just grinned stupidly as she took back the device. Silver moved off to the side, seeing that it was a questionnaire that participants had to fill out and answer to win the prize. He glanced them over, noticing that some of the questions would be rather hard to answer if the trainer didn't have half a brain. He glanced back at Lyra. Maybe she wasn't an idiotic, stupid, bubbly klutz like he thought she was?
"Wow!" exclaimed a pink haired girl as she walked up to Lyra. "You got that on your first try! I was sure the third answer was apricots!" Silver turned his gaze to the girl, who seemed to be about the same age as Lyra. "Anyways, my names Whitney! I'm the gym leader of Goldenrod City!" Silver blinked in surprise. The girl with pink pigtails and blue and black striped knee socks was the gym leader? That was what lead the normal type gym? Well... it is a normal type gym... "Anyways, you should stop by and challenge it!"
With that, the young girl bounded out of the building, barely noticing anyone else around her. Lyra glanced at the path she took, then turned to walk out. Only, unlike Whitney, she took notice of Silver's presence.
"Oh! Hey Silver!" she exclaimed, grinning. Silver scowled, turning around and walking out the door. Of course, Lyra had to follow him, and persistently grabbing ahold of his jacket sleeve. "Silver, didn't you hear me?" she asked. Ripping his arm free from her grip, he crossed them, turning his head away.
"Hey." he responded simply. "No, I didn't hear you."
"Oh." she paused. "So, did you come to win a Radio Card to?" she asked.
"No." Silver said, crumpling the paper in his hand. "I don't own a pokégear."
"Why?" she asked. "Don't you have friends? Or a family? They must be worried without a call or anything!" she paused. "Now that I think about it Silver, I don't think I got your last name, but then again, you don't know mine, so-" Silver responded by calmly putting his gloved hand over her mouth, fixating his face into the hardest, coldest glare he could muster, both good manners of shutting up the talkative girl.
"I hate my family, and have no last name." Silver said. "It's just Silver. I have no friends, nor do I need them." His hand dropped to his side, then turned to walk away, sure that he had intimidated the girl to the point of not bothering him. He smirked. She may be a capable trainer, but spineless nonetheless. That's when he heard it, a soft whisper that barely accounted for among the people bustling around him, though he heard it.
"But aren't we friends, Silver?"
As he turned around to look, he just barely saw the top of her stupid marshmellow hat as she disappeared into the crowd.

"Hi! I'm Whitney!" Whitney exclaimed happily, only to narrow her eyes at the sight of Lyra. "...You! I saw you at the Radio Tower just now. Everyone was into Pokémon, so I got into it, too! Pokémon are super cute!"
"Yeah!" Lyra agreed, pumping her fist in the air. "C'mon, lets battle, Whitney!"
"You want to battle?" Whitney asked, enlarging a pokéball in her hand. "I'm warning you-I'm good!" she tossed the pokéball into the air and grinned as a Clefairy came out.
"Chikorita!" Lyra exclaimed happily, her partner jumping onto the field. Her starter cried her name happily upon getting out of the confined space. "Start with Magical Leaf!"
"Mimic!" Whitney exclaimed. The two attacks clashed, creating a small explosion. In the middle of the smoke, Clefairy burst forward. "Doubleslap!" smacking Chikorita harshly, Clefairy jumped back.
"Poison Powder!" Lyra exclaimed. Chikorita slashed its leaf through the air, sprinkling the dust all over the battlefield. Clefairy winced as the poison took effect.
"Doubleslap!"
"Magical Leaf!" Lyra said. As Clefairy bolted forward to smack Chikorita yet again, the grass-type suddenly unleashed the attack, sending the normal type back from surprise of the sudden, up-close attack.
"Metronome!" Whitney exclaimed. Clefairy stood thoughtfully for a moment, then, as if making up its mind, it jumped into battle stance and was glowing orange. With a roar that seemed almost to mighty for the small pokémon, Clefairy unleashed a wave of tangible and seeable heat, slamming into Chikorita and sending her flying.
"Oh my Arceus! Holy Miltank!" Lyra exclaimed, returning her fainted Chikorita. "What was that?"
"I think it was Heat Wave." Whitney said thoughtfully. "Metronome is a move that chooses any move at random. We, luckily, got Heat Wave!"
"So cool!" Lyra exclaimed, pulling out a pokéball. "Eevee, lets make your first battle your first win!"
"OMG!" exclaimed Whitney as she laid eyes on the little fox. "It's so cute! Those little guys are do rare, how did you get one?"
"From a friend~!" Lyra sang. "Use Covet!" Eevee blinked her eyes cutely, walking up to Clefairy. With a sudden burst of speed, Eevee slammed into Clefairy. Much to Lyra's surprise, and joy, the normal type was knocked out. "Wow, Eevee! You're so strong!"
"Eevee!" Eevee cried happily.
"Wh-Wha? I'm not finished, ya hear?!" Whitney exclaimed, sending out a Miltank. Lyra swallowed nervously. Oh, how she had heard tales of this thing! How it was almost impossible to beat, especially if you had a male pokémon. Lyra suddenly found herself extremely grateful that all her pokémon on her current team was female. Whitney pointed towards Eevee. "Use Stomp!"
Lyra watched as the pokémon leapt up, and with its right foot glowing white, it slammed its hoof into Eevee, practically crushing her under the force.
"Wah! Shadow Ball!" Lyra exclaimed. The swirling ball of darkness slammed into Miltank, and Whitney ordered Rollout. Miltank began doing multiple summersaults towards Eevee, slamming into her and then rolling her over. Lyra watching in horror as the Miltank repeated the process... five times. "Oh, Eevee! Covet!" Eevee repeated the move from before, hitting Miltank again.
"Milk Drink!" Lyra blinked, watching as Miltank created a small bottle in front of itself, full of milk. It took the bottle, ready to drink it.
"Use Covet again!" Lyra exclaimed. She wasn't really sure what was going on at this point. Who takes a break in the middle of battle to drink some milk, anyways? Eevee repeated her move, but this time stole the small jug of milk right from Miltanks hands. Lyra watched in curiosity as Eevee took the milk and drank it, then suddenly seemed much stronger and healthier.
"Wha? No fair!" Whitney exclaimed. "You stole Miltanks Milk Drink!" Lyra blinked.
"We did?" she asked herself quietly. "Well, I'm not sure what happened, but Eevee, use Take Down!" Eevee charged towards Miltank, slamming into it.
"No! We aren't down and out yet!" Whitney exclaimed. "Rollout!"
"Shadow Ball!" Lyra shouted, watching as the shadow ball grew, then slammed into Miltank, growing until it engulfed the cow. With a moo of defeat, the normal type fell. Lyra grinned, pumping her fist in the air as Eevee bounded back to her side, grinning, then crawling up onto her shoulder and licking her cheek joyfully. Lyra looked over at Whitney, who stared at the battlefield in disbelief. "Um, aren't you supposed to give me a badge now?" Whitney's face screwed up, and suddenly she burst into tears.
"Waaaaah! Waaaaah!" she sobbed, rubbing furiously at her face as the tears fell. She sniveled. "Hic," she hiccuped, calming down slightly. "You meanie!" Lyra stood there for a moment, and a gym trainer who she defeated walked up to her.
"Oh, you made her cry... Don't worry, she'll calm down soon." she said calmly, like this sort of thing happened all the time. Lyra glanced at her, then bounded up to the girl.
"What?" she asked as the wiped her nose. "What do you want?"
"Uh, my badge, please."
"A Badge?" Whitney repeated. "Oh, right. I forgot. Here's the Plain Badge." she handed the small piece of metal over to Lyra, who grinned, pinning her third badge right under her Hive Badge. "Isn't it just perfect for a cutie like me?" Whitney asked. She blinked for a moment, then snapped her fingers. "That's right! I heard this thing called a Pokémon Contest is gonna take place here in Goldenrod, one of the first contests outside of Hoenn and Sinnoh!"
"Pokémon Contest?" Lyra asked. "What's that?"
"It's a competition that focus's on the beauty of pokémon!" Whitney said. "The trainers have to dress up in their finest, and perform with their pokémon. There's three rounds, Appeal, where you perform dazzling shows and make your pokémon look beautiful. Dance, where you and your pokémon have to dance in sync with the music. And finally, Battle, where you have to battle and show off your pokémon at the same time!" Whitney took a deep breath from the long explanation. "In this contest, we don't even have to dress up in formal clothes, instead, we dress up in a costume, both audience and contestants! It's perfect for me, isn't it? I'm going to sign up for it now!"
Whitney then bolted out of the gym, going to sigh up for the contest.

"Nights... unclear..." Vale mumbled from a rooftop as she stared down at the people milling about. "Nights been here in anguish and cheers. Nights are adorned with reverent chandeliers. Nights we sleep. Nights we weep."
She caught sight of the redhead teen in the forest. She focused on his red head, bobbing through the dark streets of Goldenrod.
"Nights we think and dreams we keep. Nights have precious relics in ark. Nights turn brightest things to dark. Nights make lightest things to spark. Nights are quiet."
She watched his long stride. Yes, he had a purpose. What was his purpose?
"Nights bring peace to day long fight. Nights are when romance ignites. Nights are true, ever robed in darkest hue. Nights are always touched by blue."
He seemed to be heading towards the Radio Tower, still alit with lights, people bustling for the nighttime radio shows. Was he, perhaps, a music fan?
"Nights love, has left me imbued. Nights are born, with hope in eyes. Nights just long, for day to rise. Nights in love, for day it dies."
She mumbled out the poem, watching as he stopped his strides, looking into the building of the gambling corner. He stared in, then with a new purpose, rage on his face, he yanked open the door.
"Auroras pride left nights in sigh. Nights believe that time is nigh, a day when sun will rise so high, heartstrings will tug for a brighter sky,"
She watched as he dragged out a young girl with brown pigtails. The girl whom Atilla and Hun mistook as the expert catcher. He turned, and began yelling at her, yet she could not hear what he was saying. Was he angry at her for gambling?
"To embrace the stardust night a cry..." she finished with a sigh, shutting her eyes and resting her chin on her hand. "Stardust Nights, author unknown." she mumbled. The device at her hip rang out again, and she opened it, staring at the message.
Executive Vale,
You are in Goldenrod for a reason, and that reason was to find out the motives of the Rockets. But instead, you are now assigned to enter the pokémon contest taking place tomorrow. You will enter under the name Tani Wakare. The contest theme for trainers is masquerade. You will wear your full mask to conceal your face, the costume is up to your choice. The catcher, whom we are seeking assistance from, is planning on entering. You are to apprehend her, and bring her to the National Park. There, Attila and Hun will pick the two of you up, and you will then receive further instructions.
"A contest, huh?" Vale mused, tucking the device away again. "And costume?" she smirked. "He's going to hate me for it, but I already have a great idea..."

Meh, I guess that's pretty good. Sooo, yeah. Vale's coming back! And it seems she has an interest in poetry! Lolz, anyways, I'ma gonna make a promise to you. When the next chapter comes up, we'll see WHY Silver was so angry at Lyra for being in the gambling corner. ^.^
Amy47101 signing off! ^.^
