The next afternoon, the Sabaku siblings were at the gateway with Team 7 to wish them farewell. Apparently, Naruto and Sakura did not take kindly to Kakashi wanting to take Sasuke home when he told them hours earlier at breakfast. They were adamant on cutting off their vacation together to be with Sasuke. The Uchiha felt very touched by their concern but didn't dare voice it out, she hated that people think she was becoming softer since she turned to a girl.
"Take care on your journey you guys" Temari tells the group after hugging Naruto goodbye.
"We will" answers Sakura, smiling.
Kankuro shares a one arm hug with Naruto before slapping the blonde on the back in a brotherly gesture. The blue-eyes genin smiled sheepishly in response before Gaara comes close to him to squeeze the fellow jinchuuriki's shoulder.
"We'll be waiting for your letters."
"Of course!" Naruto says, grinning widely.
Once the two groups finished exchanging goodbyes, they seperated; Team 7 hurried on home to Konoha while the Sabaku Siblings leisurely made their way back to their mansion.
Hinata's injuries healed up quite nicely and walked close by Itachi, holding hands with him. She couldn't believe how happy she was and how whole her heart felt now. She had been feeling incomplete since the Uchiha brothers left her life those few years ago but now she had Itachi again so really couldn't be happier.
Suddenly, the raven-haired lifts her hand to his mouth to kiss her knuckles.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Things" answers Hinata vaguely, trying to keep a neutral expression.
"Liar, the corners of your mouth is twitching like you're going to smile."
Hinata pouted a little at him before sighing a little in defeat at his keen observation skills, "I was thinking about you."
Itachi smiles hearing that and squeezes her hand before moving it back down to their sides again, "What about me?"
The girl shakes her head, feeling a little shy to tell him but when she turns her head to meet his eyes, she was shocked to be knocked off her feet by Itachi who held her close as they fell together on the grass. Hinata was the first to rise and narrowed her eyes recognizing Kabuto.
"Hmm, you look a lot like the Hyuuga Heiress but you don't have the eyes or that ugly hime-cut hairstyle of hers."
UGLY?!
I'll kill him!
3 other Sound ninjas came to Kabuto's side and turned to see an angry violet-eyed girl glaring hatefully at the spectacles wearing medic nin.
"Why are you here Kabuto?"
Everyone turned to see Itachi rising to his feet slowly, his Sharingan flaring at the Sound ninjas.
The Sound ninjas minus Kabuto gulped, afraid and silently prayed that the male medic nin would have enough sense to call a retreat.
There was no way ninjas like them could beat Itachi!
Hell, Kabuto may be pretty brilliant but Itachi has a reputation of being a ruthless killer.
No way any one of them could even hope to beat him!
Let alone stay and fight!
"My word Itachi-san, you have a rather scary face right now."
"You ruined my good mood. I have every right to be angry" answered the Uchiha, the irritation evident in his voice.
"Awww did I ruin your date?" Kabuto taunted with an amused smirk on his lips.
"What are you even doing here?" Hinata asks, running out of patience.
"Well I see no harm in telling you since Itachi-kun is not affiliated with Konoha anymore and I assume you're a missing nin since you are wearing ninja clothes but no apparent village symbol thus I need not worry."
Itachi's frown deepens at his words, already feeling that he won't like what Kabuto will say.
"I'm on my way to pick up Sasuke-chan or well kidnap if she does not see reason."
Hinata's eyes narrowed, "For what purpose do you want Itachi's sibling for?"
"Why various things! Firstly, to study her and see how thoroughly that ancient hot spring water affected her. Secondly, to turn her into an Oto nin and a loyal subordinate of Orochimaru-sama. Finally, to look after her and nourish her properly till she becomes of a ripe age so that Orochimaru can take her body."
Itachi blinked, "You are trying to take my brother again?"
"Sister" corrected Kabuto, adjusting his spectacles.
Hinata deadpanned, realizing something, "How did you know what specifically changed Sasuke to a girl?"
The male medic nin smirked, "Because I set her up."
The former Hyuuga heiress grabbed onto Itachi's arm, knowing that the teenager was angry.
Well...he was more than angry, he was raging mad.
"What in fuck's name was that for? Changing my brother's gender?!"
Kabuto's smirk grew even wider at the rare display of emotions from the usually stoic teen.
"Why, for Orochimaru-sama of course! Orochimaru-sama wants to use the Sharingan for as long as he can and studies have shown that females live longer than males. Therefore, I was ordered to carry out what he desired!"
Hinata couldn't believe what she was hearing, Sasuke's gender was changed for this?!
Poor Sasuke...
"Is there a way to reverse this effect?" Itachi asked, making Hinata bite her lip in worry at the sheer anger the older teen had in his voice.
"Nope" answered the Oto medic nin, almost cheerfully despite Itachi's growing anger.
"You-"
Before Hinata knew what was happening Itachi broke away from her grip and charged towards the Oto nin.
"No!" she screamed.
But it was too late, Itachi had drawn his kunais ready to attack, running towards Kabuto but the grey haired teen was smart and jumped, somersaulting backwards behind his three Oto nin, becoming a human shield for him.
The three nin was surprised but drew out their kunai, knowing fully well that a fight will break out.
However, a fight didn't break between the three Oto ninjas and Itachi.
It was an execution.
In a blink of an eye, Itachi threw his kunai, hitting his targets directly at their throats. You could even see that the kunais were thrown mercilessly as the whole kunai was embedded into each of the nin's neck, killing them quickly. Kabuto watched emotionlessly as his fellow village nin fell to the ground dead and unmoving.
"My oh my, this-"
Before the teen could finish speaking, Kabuto fell on his back by a brute, heavy and strong force. The force hit him so hard that the medic nin struggled to breathe for a moment but as soon as he took in his drink of air into his lungs after that shock he received, he found that he was being strangled by a strong hand.
Itachi wished he had long nails then he could sink them into the annoying, spectacles wearing bastard. He sat on top of him, his right hand choking Kabuto and his other hand firmly holding down his captive.
"You, Yakushi Kabuto will suffer the full force of my wrath. I will make sure you suffer for a very long time before finally killing you. You will definitely remember every antagonizing moment even while you're in underworld."
Hinata watched, her eyes wide as Itachi relentlessly stabbed Kabuto, causing the man to scream as the Uchiha stabbed him repeatedly with his kunai in the chest avoiding his heart purposely.
The girl knew Itachi could be cruel if he really wanted to but the man she was used to was kind and merciful. She took a deep breath, trying to calm down. That's right, Itachi had it rough the past few years.
Itachi had to work for a criminal organization, do many unforgivable things and all for his cover as a double agent for Konoha. It would make sense that Itachi has changed.
Hinata watched as Itachi dropped the kunai and began using both his hands, choking the man underneath him. Kabuto tried to scratch at Itachi's hands but Itachi was determined. No mere scratches would make him stop.
The violet-eyed girl watched as Itachi continued his torture.
Even Naruto wasn't this sadistic with his opponents.
Oh Itachi...
"I'll kill you for what you have done! Messing with my brother like you did!"
Itachi began punching the Oto nin repeatedly after using his free hand to rip off the spectacles from the man's face before throwing them aside.
Hinata closed one eye, seeing all the blood.
Kabuto's blood.
Hinata hated blood on her clothes. She was used to the smell of blood and death like any other experienced ninja but she still hated it. She liked to do things swiftly. Eliminate the target, minimize casualties and obtain your objective. She liked doing things fast and quickly hence why it was natural to become a assassin as her part-time job.
Naruto on the other hand had a different way of doing things. He was bounty hunter; he liked it loud, long, bloody and sadistic. He was always weirdly serene afterwards but Hinata soon realized that bashing people's heads in was therapeutic for him. It was a good way to vent off his anger and stress was what he said.
Privately, she blamed the Kyuubi for his scary bloodlust.
Was this bloody beatdown Itachi was doing therapeutic as well?
Hinata took a deep shaky breath. She hoped she didn't have to see Itachi like this again.
So angry and so vengeful...
The killer intent radiating off him made her shiver.
