Sakura: Hime does not own Naruto!
Inoichi opened one eye, finally moving after one agonizing hour of everyone watching Sasuke undergo the mind jutsu.
"What's the diagnosis?" Kakashi asks softly, knowing fully well that something was really wrong for Inoichi to take so long.
"There's a memory suppression seal."
Naruto, Sakura and Ino all widened their eyes in surprise when they heard that. Ino was the first to speak, "Dad, you can remove it can't you?"
"I need your help love. Once I remove the seal, I would have almost completely exhaust my chakra. I need you to use your chakra to help me get out of Sasuke's mind with you."
"Understood" she answers, nodding her head firmly.
Kakashi frowned, wondering why did Sasuke have a memory suppression seal to begin with. It completely tossed out his theory that Sasuke lost her memories due to the trauma she got from the Uchiha massacre. Now, it seems that someone had hidden away the genin's memories but for what purpose?
Was it Itachi?
Meanwhile, Naruto was pondering on the same thing. Did Itachi suppress Sasuke's memories?
If so, why?
Naruto wished Itachi wasn't so damn aggravating to think about. Pondering on the mystery of Uchiha Itachi and his intentions hurt his brain not to mention it took a toll on his emotions.
Firstly, Naruto was never convinced Itachi killed the Uchiha clan for the purpose of power like Sasuke had claimed. Itachi was never a man who cared about power. All he cared about was being able to protect his precious people. Obviously, killing off his parents and traumatizing his sibling for life was something Naruto would ever expect of Itachi and yet that was what he did.
Secondly, it was just was too out of character for someone like Itachi. Itachi was Naruto's senior, sempai, sensei and most importantly, brother. Naruto knew Itachi. It was just too wrong. Naruto had seen himself the aftermath of the massacre. That bloody style of brutality was Naruto's thing on a bad day. Itachi's killings were always the silent assassin type; quick, clean and minimal casualties just like Hinata. It was just way too unlike him. What could have happened to make him go a 180?
Lastly, this whole situation now just didn't make sense at all. Why the suppressed memories of Hinata? Hell, Sasuke having suppressed memories because of a seal on her brain was very odd to begin with. A memory seal was complicated work and Itachi as far as Naruto knew, was never interested in sealing. So why did and how did Itachi cast a memory seal on Sasuke in the first place? Damn it Itachi, what are you up to?
Out of nowhere, Sasuke screamed causing everyone to look back at her in alarm only to see the blonde Yamanakas very tired and exhausted, panting heavily in front of a very loud, aggravated Sasuke.
"What the hell is going on here?" Sakura demanded.
Sasuke stopped screaming then and dropped her head causing a very frantic pinkette to rush over to check on her with Naruto and Kakashi not far behind, also concerned.
"Is she okay?" Naruto asks worriedly as Sakura performs the diagnostic jutsu she learned. After a while, the green-eyed kunoichi breathes a sigh of relief, "She's fine."
"Let us know if Sasuke gets any headaches or any other symptoms after she wakes up tomorrow" instructs Ino suddenly making everyone turn to her as she helps her tired father out of his chair, supporting him by the arm.
Kakashi nods to the two blondes, "Thank you for your help."
Inoichi nods too, unable to say anything back, too exhausted to speak.
Sai pinched himself and to his dismay, he found that it hurt. He raised his own hand and slapped himself as hard as he possibly could but still he could see the nightmare.
It was a nightmare. It had to be a nightmare. There was no way in hell that what he was seeing right now could be real.
Maybe what he was seeing was a prank?
A really cruel vicious prank?
He wouldn't put it past Naruto though, his sadism was terrifying. Whenever he was in one of his bad moods, he was more violent and tortured whatever poor suckers that became his victims longer than really necessary.
Hinata could have pulled it off too though. She doesn't usually prank people but if she was bored enough, she would try something fearsome. It didn't help that after becoming Kurenai Yuuhi's apprentice, Hinata's genjutsu skills grew drastically and she made very good use of that with her extensive imagination.
The albino undercover Root nin nodded his head firmly, the explanations he made for this current situation in his head had to be true. It just had to. It had to be a prank.
Yeah...it was a prank!
A really sick prank!
Sai continued telling himself that. Everything he was seeing was an illusion. It wasn't real. It was a genjutsu, all a genjutsu. None of what he was seeing could be true.
There was no way it could be anything. He put his hands together confidently and strongly he called it out loud, releasing the supposed genjutsu, "Kai!"
Sai opened his eyes but to his horror it was still there. He tried again and again. Five tries later, he dropped to his knees, realizing then that he was not dreaming, he was not hallucinating and everything he was actually seeing was all real. Painfully real.
Hinata, formerly Hyuuga Hinata, his best friend and the girl he secretly loved lay there in front of the river bank; right before him, lifeless and eyes closed.
Hinata was dead.
She lay there, her right arm raised next to her ear with her fingers curled and her midnight blue hair fanned out on the grassy ground. Hinata's eyes were closed and Sai at first, thought she was sleeping since she didn't have a single bruise on her. He remembered trying to wake her up but her skin was cold to the touch. Scared, he had checked her pulse, she had none.
He had just tried to see if it was a genjutsu and it wasn't.
Hinata...really was dead.
Sai wept, cradling his first love's cold, lifeless body in his arms.
No...
