Chapter 7: Relentless Pursuit of Truth

Django stepped back till he reached the ledge of the building, An entranced Frida in his arms.

"Next time we meet Tigre, everything will be in place. Give Puma Loca my regards. By the way, tell him poker night is being moved to tuesday, El Oso is feeling…. A bit under the weather. Chau!" Django took one more step back and fell of the ledge. El Tigre pushed the man named Miguel to the side and ran to the ledge to see where they went but there was nobody in sight. There as a ring of green fire down below with what appeared to be a black void in its center. Tigre crawled up the ledge with what little strength he had left. Before taking his courageous leap down below he was stopped by Miguel who spoke in the background.

"Manny, If you fight him now, you will fail and then all is lost for you. He is not stable anymore and in his anguish, he will overlook the lives of others. He is looking to find the man responsible for cursing his family. Find him before Django, well…. Does something you both will regret." A green fire began to engulf the mysterious being with an ever growing intensity.

"You're with him, why would you help me?" Tigre exclaimed confused by the creature with an obvious bad case of multiple personality disorder. Miguel smirked, his eyes changing color from brown to a deep glowing purple.

"There is more to this than either one of you understands, I'm just the referee and spectator playing the humble role of a servant to a meglo maniac, immortal, undead teen having a bad mood swing. Besides, where's all the fun in just letting one side win hmmmm? Look to the far south out by calavera from there you will find-" Miguel was cut short by the rooftop door being kicked open by an exasperated police chief waving a loaded .308 snubnose revolver, who makes eye contact with Miguel. His eyes focused with lethal intent.

"YOOOOU… STOP! WHERE IS MY DAUGHTER! YOU ARE BOTH UNDER ARREST!" The chief exclaimed frantically, firing a shot off but misses the creature in the fire and just like that the fire dissipates, Miguel was gone, leaving a weakened Manny to deal with the angry oversized cop.

"Wait Mr. Suarez, There is a portal down below, just look over the ledge. Django took frida and I, I mean we need to go save her!" Manny tried to explain, The chief looked over the ledge and down below only to find an empty sidewalk.

"Tigre, how dare you mock me in this time of crisis. I am taking you in for questioning and interrogation. I might even thrown in a little torture for this." Chief Suarez sheathed his revolver and grabbed El Tigre by the scruff of his neck with Tigre complaining. He dragged his beaten body across the rooftop, down the stairs, and to his patrol car down on the street below.

"You are making a mistake Chief, We need to go to Calavera! If we hurry, we might find Frida before it is too late!" El Tigre explained but the chief wasn't having any of it. However, he couldn't afford not to listen either. He called in one of his fellow officers from inside the hospital out to his patrol car and explained the situation. He ended his conversation with an order to take El Tigre into custody and leave him in a cell till he arrived to question him himself.

"Pero Mr. Suarez, where are you going?" The officer asked.

"I'm going to Calavera to pay an old friend of mine a visit. Hopefully he can answer a few questions before it is too late and maybe we can get to the bottom of this with my Frida still in one piece… As for you Tigre, I will deal with you later... personally..." The chief looked down at his revolver still in its holster. He unsheathed it and opened the spinning chamber to see he only has 5 shots out of six left. "Bueno" Mr. Suarez exhaled exhaustively, resheathing his firearm and making his way down the city street south, to Calavera.
