Author's Note
Just a quick note to say a few things. Thank you to everyone who's reviewed this so far. I can't describe how much I love opening my email account to see a 'Review Alert' email nestling in there. Writers love praise like cats love catnip.
For anyone who's wondering if this was written as a response to the rumours regarding the script for the movie, no it wasn't. This was written because, odd as it may sound, I actually didn't enjoy Spiderman 2 all that much. I found the dialogue clichéd (I defy anyone to make sense of "I'm standing in your doorway, Peter"), and the structure of the movie itself was off; the train sequence was breathtaking and effortlessly the climactic scene of the movie, and yet the movie had another half-hour or so to run afterward. Plus, all that will-they won't-they with MJ and Pete – it was a chick flick with webslinging, basically.
I came out of the cinema buzzing with opinions on what Spiderman 3 should be – a movie with less dewy-eyed fawning between MJ and Pete, less misery and more action. And that's where my take on Spiderman 3 came from. As will show, this script was posted in January / February 2005, long before any Topher Grace / Thomas Haden Church casting news leaked out.
Now I'm hearing that the movie will feature the return of the Green Goblin in the form of Harry, Peter having to make use of the symbiote to beat him, the symbiote slowly taking control of Peter's personality, and eventually Harry returning to help Peter in the final battle…
Hmm. Interesting.
Where do they get their ideas from?
