Hey guys! I am finally back with an update! Forgive me for taking so long… School and my other fics had me busy!

I hope you guys enjoy this!

Klaus and Caroline snuck out of the palace through the secret passageway that Klaus showed her. Caroline didn't want to run away, she wanted to stay. She wanted to be close to her family even though her older brother thought that she was a whore. She couldn't just leave her people to fend for themselves. For the few days that she has been with Klaus, she felt horrible. Caroline knew that it wasn't fair that she was sleeping in a comfortable bed with all of the fruits before her. She knew that it wasn't fair that her people were suffering because of some grudge a pharaoh held on them all those centuries ago.

"Klaus, I want to run. I do, but I simply cannot leave my people to suffer." Caroline said as she stopped walking in the dark passageway.

"Love, you do not understand… My father… He will take you for himself. He will treat you horribly. He will take your virtue and when he sees the blood when your hymen is broken, he will have both of our heads. Please, we have to go!" Klaus cried out as he motioned towards the sunlight that was cracking through the window.

Caroline kicked at the floor unsure of herself, but she still shook her head.

"I cannot leave. I cannot run away. That would make me a coward, and I am not a coward. I have been a slave my entire life, and as much as I want to run away… I can't… Not without my people. I am sorry, Klaus." Caroline sighed sadly as she turned away from him and headed back towards his chambers.

"Caroline, please!" Klaus begged.

"Do you think that I wanted this life!? No I did not, and if your father is to take my virginity then so be it. I will not run away when I know that my family is trying to survive from the lack of food they are receiving."

"If he takes your virginity, that memory will be engraved in your head forever. What will happen if he plants his seed in your womb? He will kill you and the bastard."

"First of all, I learned a long time ago that my life is not one that will have a happy ending. I am going to lose my virginity one way or another. Will it be to a man I love or to a cruel pharaoh, I do not know, but either option is what stands before me and the second one seems to be more plausible than the first." Caroline said even though she hated knowing that what was in store for her, was not what she dreamt of as a child while looking up at the stars.

"How can you say that!?" Klaus shouted as he marched over to her and grabbed her by the arm, harshly.

The blonde girl looked down at the hand that was clasped around her arm and she shook her head.

"I am grateful to you for what you have done. I am grateful to you for allowing me to keep my virtue for a little longer, but I cannot walk away. I cannot walk away knowing that I am a free woman while my people are prisoners. I am sorry."

"You know what, Caroline!?" Klaus shouted. "You do not get to make that choice. I do." He spat, venomously.

Her eyebrows furrowed in sadness as she looked at the man that was once so kind to her. Klaus removed his hand from her arm as if her arm burnt him. He backed away with sorrow in his blue eyes.

"Please do not do this. I cannot let him get you. Caroline, please." Klaus begged, hoping to get through to her.

"I do not want this. I do not want him putting a finger on me. And do you know why?" She questioned.

"Why?" He asked softly.

"Because then my older brother would be right."

"About what?" The Prince wondered.

"About me being a whore." She said as a tear escaped her eye.

"You are not a whore. Caroline, you are not. Please, run away with me. For now… Let my father's hunger for you subside, and then we will return."

"I want to. I do, but—" She began.

"You cannot," he finished for her.

She nodded and Klaus shook his head in anger. He couldn't let Caroline go through such a thing, he simply couldn't.

"I have a plan." He told her.

"A plan?" Caroline asked, her bright blue eyes hopeful.

Klaus nodded as he outstretched his hand for her to take. She put her hand into his and the two walked towards the exit.

"We aren't running away, are we?" Caroline questioned.

"No," he shook his head.

"Then where are we going?" She wondered.

"To the brothel."

"Brothel?" She questioned.

"Women that sleep with men for a living." He clarified.

"You aren't going to… you know…" She started as a blush crept onto her cheeks.

Klaus chuckled at Caroline's shyness on that matter and gave her a reassuring smile.

"No, I am not going there for myself. I am going there to buy a woman that my father could mistake for you."

"How will that work? Your siblings… They saw me… And your mother, she saw me as well."

"That's the good part about having a father that cannot keep it in his pants." The Prince smirked.

"What do you mean?"

"He has a separate wing in which he sleeps with a bunch of different women every night… My father might be getting to that age in which he gets tired quicker, but he definitely does not get tired when it comes to a woman."

"Your mother… How does she stand such a thing?" Caroline questioned.

"My mother has no romantic feelings towards my father. They were forced into an arranged marriage and my mother thought that maybe she would be able to fall in love with him, but she could not and so they had my siblings and I in order to have their families united… See, my father's father was a pharaoh and so was his father before then… My mother comes from a royal family… Both of their families arranged the marriage in order to form an alliance. My mother was originally meant to be a Grecian Princess, but when she married my father and his father passed, she became Queen Esther of Egypt."

"Wow…" Caroline said because she didn't know what else to say.

"Exactly… My mother has not had the easiest life because of my father, so I guess that is why she turned into such a monster…" He shrugged.

"Will you be forced into marriage?" Caroline asked him.

"Probably… I know that I am betrothed to the Roman Princess, Tatia… I have been ever since I was of six years."

"Oh…" She said, lost in thought.

"I do not like her. I can barely stand the sight of her… If I had a choice, I would not marry her."

"But you must… As the Pharaoh's son… It is your duty to do as your father says." Caroline told him even though she felt her heart tugging at her chest. She didn't want him marrying another woman…

"May my duty and stature be damned! I am not going to marry her. I will not even if my father drags me to the altar by my ear." Klaus told her with finality.

"Then what do you expect? You must marry…"

"And I will." His voice softened.

"Who?" She asked him.

"You," Klaus said as he closed the space between them.

"Me?" She asked as her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"I fancy you, Caroline… Maybe even more than fancy you and I know that it sounds crazy because just a couple of days ago I did not even know who you were, but I am drawn to you."

"And I, you." She replied because the minute their eyes connected while she lay on the ground after Tyler's first attempt of raping her, she immediately felt drawn to him.

"Really?" He questioned, hopefully.

The blonde girl nodded slowly and Klaus said, "I am going to kiss you now."

Caroline said nothing as Klaus' lips touched hers. Their kiss started off slow. Klaus wrapped his arms around her waist and she put her hand to his cheek. He pulled her closer and so they were flush against one another.

Their kiss grew more passionate and he was about to pull away, but she didn't allow him to move.

When they had to breathe, they pulled away. Both of their lips were swollen and they were smiling at one another like two foolish children in love.

"I am sorry," Klaus apologized.

"Please do not be…" Caroline said.

"I should not have kissed you without your consent…" Klaus told her as he mentally kicked himself in the head for getting carried away.

"If I would not have given you my consent, I would not have returned the kiss. I may have not given you my consent verbally, but I did physically." She reassured him as she closed the space between them.

She stood up on her tippy toes and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"I like you, Klaus… I do, but we both have to understand that us… It is not a possibility." She sighed, sadly.

"Yes it is… I do not care if you are of another race… I fancy you, Caroline…"

"I fancy you as well, but I am a slave."

"No you are not." The Prince shook his head in disagreement.

"But I am… I may not be working at the moment but who am I kidding? These past few days… They have been the best days I ever had, but I know what awaits for me on the other side. A life of slaving away for your people."

"I never believed in slavery… I never wanted any part in it." He told her truthfully.

"And yet you were out back a couple of days ago…" Her voice drifted off.

"I was only outback because my older brother's wife gave birth to a child… My father told me that I had to take over his duty, and I did… I did not want to anger him further."

"I'm not judging you, Klaus… I understand…" She shrugged as if it was nothing.

"You understand? What do you understand, Caroline? You don't know what kind of person my father is."

"But I do. He is a cruel man who only cares about himself. He is egocentric, spoiled, horrific, and all of those other words."

"That's true..." Klaus agreed. "But the thing is that he is worst to his children. Specifically me."

"Why?"

"I do not know… Probably because I am outspoken and do not keep my opinions to myself."

"Does he beat you?" She asked as her eyes roamed over his face for any sign of a faded scar.

"He used to… When I was young, I could not protect myself from his wrath." He shrugged.

"Why…? Why do you listen to him if he is such a monster?" She asked, her eyes wide with confusion.

"I listen to him because I know that if I do not, he will kick me out of the palace and I cannot have that."

"Oh…" Caroline understood.

"I only stuck around for so long because of my youngest siblings… Rebekah and Henrik. I would have been gone by now if I did not have them, but I do and it is my duty—my actual duty to protect them from our father."

"You know what, Klaus?"

"What?" He questioned.

"You are a good person and I think that you would make a great Pharaoh, someday." She smiled at him, warmly.

"Thank you for the compliment, love… Maybe in another lifetime I will be crowned Pharaoh."

"Why can you not be pharaoh in this lifetime?"

"I have two older brothers. Elijah… He is the oldest and he is the one that will take the throne when my father passes."

"Is Elijah as fair as you?" She asked, remembering the brown-haired gentleman from a couple of days ago.

"I do not think so, but he is wise and he has everything that a true leader has to have."

"If he does not have fairness, he is not a true leader." Caroline scoffed.

"Maybe not in your eyes, but in my family's eyes being cruel and unjustly is what makes a good leader."

"That is the dumbest thing that I have ever heard!"

"Maybe so," he shrugged, but quickly shut his mouth when he realized that Mikael's guards were entered the secret passageway.

"We have to go." He quickly said.

The blonde nodded and the two took off running.
