Readers,
It's been like… Five years. A lot has changed with me, including my writing style. I have graduated college with an English writing degree and I am currently waiting to become a published writer. Who knows, maybe I'll become the next E.L. James (;
Anyway, I've always loved this FanFic, and I know this is probably the only one I'll continue out of my old collection because my old collection is a lot of BDSM stuff and I'm out of that lifestyle and currently waiting on my (new and different boyfriend from the last time I published on here) of two years to ask me to marry him. HA.
Anyway, please enjoy this chapter, and as always, review. It's good to be back.
Chapter Seven: Midnight Music
Rosalie and Alice were eyeing up Jasper and Emmett as we walked back from our dinner and they waited until our parents were out of earshot.
"Are you going to the dance tonight?" Alice asked smiling at me with her excited electric eyes.
"I think… Are you both?" I asked blushing as I watched Rosalie nod and giggle, and Alice rolled her eyes.
"Duh," Alice chirped happily.
"Good, I am kind of excited," I admitted as Rosalie's eyes shined brightly at my upbeat mood.
"Really? You are never one for breaking the rules and doing something that could be more trouble than it's worth. Who are you and what have you done with my sister?" Rosalie asked laughing.
"What are we telling our parents?" Alice asked, she was two feet ahead of Rosalie and I by now.
"I don't know, I didn't think that far ahead," I weakly admitted. Rosalie's finger began to pat her lower red lip as she thought up a plan. Rosalie was never very sneaky, but she always had a good cover story. She'd go to the drive ins with different people that our parent's didn't think were good for us to be around and she'd have a plausible story as to where she really was supposed to be.
"Well, there are literally tons of activities at night around here, tonight they are having a magic show down at the west pavilion next to the croquette lessons, and we can say we're going to that. There is going to be very little lighting, and I hear the magician is kind of slow, so they'll expect us to be a while. We can say that Jasper, Emmett, and Edward are accompanying us, so Dad doesn't worry about our safety." Rosalie spun a story that was impressive, to say the least.
"You are so clever," Alice marveled at Rosalie's talent for making up cock and bull stories, but I too was in awe.
"She's right, Rose, you're so smart," I paid Rosalie a compliment I'm sure she wouldn't normally pass my lips.
"I have a little more experience with these things," Rosalie reminded us of how she's two years older than Alice and I. I shrugged and walked into our cabin, with Alice in tow.
"We need to pick out outfits that will work for both," Alice reminded us as we began flipping through our clothes, and Alice was by my side to help me the most.
"I think mom has something tucked away for you, Bella, she knew you'd abuse the whole 'summer vacation' and only pack things meant for an amusement park rather than a resort," Alice snorted.
"How thoughtful," I grimaced. Mrs. Brandon always packed at least half a suitcase full of clothes for me and for Alice because she felt that we didn't always wear things that were appropriate for our age or for the activities we'd be expected to participate in. She had no worries for Rosalie, and I was shocked she still worried about Alice because Alice took after her in the fashion world.
"I'll go grab you something quick!" Alice chirped as she left my side to go to her cabin. I sighed and put down the peach sundress.
"Bella, you knew Mrs. Brandon would do it," Rosalie laughed at my embarrassment.
"It's weird," I complained. "I'm not even her child."
"We may as well be, or we may as well be her nieces. We've been family friends for decades. It's no surprise she spoils us with fashion samples," Rosalie smiled smugly at me.
I was dressed in a beautiful evening dress. Sheer navy sleeves down to my elbows, and a deep V neck line in the matte navy dress. It had an A line waist and two slits, one up each side. The dress was admittedly, gorgeous, and perfect for both occasions. Alice looked pleased with her choice of outfit, but my father wasn't very happy.
"You're wearing that?" Dad asked as Rosalie, Alice, and I were beginning to depart for the false alibi.
"Daddy, Rose is wearing something similar," I shrugged, uncomfortable with the fact that my father cared more about my modesty than Rosalie's.
"Rose is an adult almost," he said gruffly. His hands were folded over his chest. Rosalie was an adult, she was 20 years old as of last week, and I was 17 years old. I was almost an adult… Dad only considered you an adult when you were done with all schooling and you were living on your own; so not Rosalie or me.
"Daddy, her birthday is in a little over a month and she'll be 18," Rosalie reminded him gently. My mother touched his arm and smiled at me.
"Charles, let them go. They have three respectable men there to escort, and they look perfectly fine. Did you see what Jane was wearing? She's despicable, and nothing compared to what they're wearing. They're fine." My mother defended her three girls like a champion. She knew how to call off my father, and she was one of the best to do so.
"Oh alright," father conceded and walked back to Mr. Brandon waiting at the edge of the porch. Mr. Brandon was use to Alice's dresses and how she'd wear things that in my father's opinion were not meant for girls our age, because of what his wife did for a living. He was desensitized by all of the low neck lines and long slits up any side of dress.
Alice skipped in her purple heals as her purple/periwinkle dress shinned from the taffeta textured material that covered her bodice. It was one of her mother's designs, because it fit Alice perfectly to a T. Alice was the brighter of us, because Rosalie decided on a black dress that had no straps and a long tear drop pearl necklace. Rosalie was keeping it simple, like Alice had done with me, but Rosalie was easily the most noticeable out of the two of us. Alice had short, bobbed hair, which was of course a rebellious statement to the fashion world still, and her angular features made me think of an Elf. Rosalie looked like a bronzed goddess, her golden hair done in ringlet curls, her full lips bright red and her eyes always heavily lashed. I on the other hand, I was slender, but soft, I had long wavy brown hair and plain brown eyes. I felt as though I was always standing out for my plainness.
"Hello ladies," Jasper Whitlock bowed his head at us, and took Alice's hand and kissed it. "Emmett and Edward will be right along," He said this only to Alice, or so it seemed. "My, my. You three look quite lovely," Jasper said, although, his eyes still only trained on Alice. I smile, and Rosalie did, too but she was bouncing looking for Emmett.
"Thanks," I blushed.
It only took a few seconds when I saw Edward's bronzed hair come into view. I could barely see the sparkle it let off from a fresh shower as dusk approached. His beautiful bright green eyes showed excitement and by his side was a bright eyed Emmett whose eyes were trained on Rosalie.
"Boys," Rosalie greeted as Emmett took her hand.
"Ladies," Emmett greeted as he folded Rose's hand onto his forearm and bicep, Rosalie's smile became proud and smug as she was a piece of arm candy for a handsome, brawny man. I smiled sheepishly at Edward, his gaze thoughtful and it made a blush creep up from my neck into my face and ears.
"Bella," Edward said smiling at me, his eyes looking closely at my dress and my low, low neck line. "You look gorgeous," Edward grabbed my hand and put it in the crook of his elbow. When we were all about to turn and leave Jane came over and stopped in front of us.
Jane was lovely; she had long blonde hair, full maroon lips, and bright light blue eyes. She looked haunting almost with her complexion that was close to color in mine but far more fair. She was wearing a sultry red number that showed entirely too much of her body. She was married and her husband rarely came to the resort all summer, but she was here always.
"Edward, I was wondering when my lessons were," Jane said, her bright eyes were looking at me up and down.
"You never signed up, Jane, I'm booked all summer." Edward shrugged and clasped his hand over top of mine.
"But you said-." Jane sputtered for a second, but gained her composure quickly. "You just said I signed up as soon as I had asked," Jane said in a sickening sweet voice. Edward had told me the same thing, and I didn't end up writing my name on any slip of paper.
"It was a joke, I thought you had understood. I can't keep track of how many people approach me for lessons. I'm sorry, I'm booked now. I have one new student, a returning couple and a new couple. I have too much on my plate," Edward sounded apologetic; "I'm sorry Jane."
"Of course, my mistake," Jane's body language became stiff as she squared her shoulders and stocked back to the magic show.
"Shall we?" Jasper cleared his throat and turned to the hill that had a sign that said "EMPLOYEE HOUSING".
Jasper lead us up the large hill that was covered in gravel and dry red clay. It looked gorgeous when it wasn't raining, but it was a mess when it was covered in rain. We came across a large building that looked like all of the housing cabins around them, but the word CAFETERIA was above the front entrance, and music was blaring from the building and lights flashing in the windows, this must be where the party was.
"This is it. If anyone asks, don't tell them who you are. Only a few people really are okay with us bringing the guests up here. We could get fired," Emmett scratched the back of his neck sheepishly.
"We won't get fired," Edward said with confidence and winked at his friends, a crooked smile on his lips. "Shall we," Edward held open the door for Alice and Jasper, Rosalie and Emmett, and then finally for me.
"Thank you," I said sheepishly as a blush crept up my neck and onto my face.
