It's been almost another year just for this one chapter. I haven't given up on this story and I doubt I ever will. It took me until last month to come up with one of the parts of this story, I had the other part planned out and the first part was written months ago. I hate taking so long to write but I didn't know what to write so I made sure to write a little of something every day for every story i have. I have three or four new stories in progress but I will work on this one more.
Thank you for all the reviews even when I took so long. It helped me focus on the story and find new ideas.
Mukuro had years of learning from her and still couldn't deal with her life lessons. Having a whole class based on them would be too much. She had a habit of using illusions to make people experience the situation she described.
Nana stood up and started walking down the stairs of the stands. "We're just going to do a simulation. I'll start easy for today. Any questions?"
"What type of simulations?" Takeshi asked.
Mukuro gave him a 'Why would you even ask her that question it's obviously going to lead to our deaths' look.
"Things to challenge all of you. Let's do a simple one first. If I did this." She walked over to Tsuna, who was between his friends, then swiftly placed him in a headlock and put a gun against his temple. "What are you going to do?"
"I'll fight." Hayato growled. He reached for Tsuna and Nana placed the gun even harder on his temple. Tsuna's wince of pain made Hayato freeze.
"But my gun is against his head. I can splatter his brains all over the floor before you can even twitch. " The horrible thing was, she still had a smile on her face.
"But he's your son." Takeshi argued.
"I could be an illusionist disguised as his mother just to get close and kill him. Right now I'm the enemy."
She made sure to make eye contact with all of them before speaking again. "So, can anyone tell me what the answer it? What. are. you. going. to. do?" After each word she tapped the gun to his temple.
They were silent, they didn't know what to do in this situation.
"The answer is, you should find a way for it not to happen because you just let an enemy in your ranks and threaten your boss's life."
Tsuna was resigned to being used as an assistant in every class- except Verde's- but it was still uncomfortable to have a gun pressed against his head. He knew his mother wouldn't shoot him but it still hurt seeing the horrified, shocked, and helpless looks on his friends faces. He already knew how to get away from a gun to his head, he was trained for it. His friends weren't.
"If this ever does happen you have be strong enough to protect him and anyone you care about. Even from a gun pointed at your love one's head. People will always come up with new ways to kill each other. Getting yourself killed trying to protect a loved one will hurt them. You have to change with the times and learn how to keep yourself safe and them safe also."
She released Tsuna and took a step back. His friends immediately crowded around him to check if he was ok.
"I'm fine." He reassured. It didn't do much good since they were still tense and wary of Nana. They stood in a protective circle around him. Tsuna was touched but knew that if his mom was an enemy, something like this would not stop her. She told him a lot of stories of some missions that sounded impossible to complete but she completed it anyways.
Her eyes softened as she looked at them. "I'm not asking you to be distrustful of everyone that comes near your boss. I just want you to think of what can happen and with the path you are taking, something bad will happen. Just be prepared."
"This is why we're starting with simulations. These are small lessons you should learn to become stronger in both body and mind. You have to be prepared to face the worst situation and to get the best situation out of the worst. I can't entrust my son to people who don't know what choice to make to protect him. Right now your goal is to get strong enough to beat Varia. Being put in the situation will help you learn faster and react quicker. Even when I'm not teaching simulations be prepared, It could happen at any time."
Tsuna placed his hands on Hayato's shoulders and peeked over him. Hayato's cheeks warmed at the contact and closeness. "What do you mean by 'any time' mom?"
"Anytime means those times you aren't training." She replied.
"Eventually I will put you in real life situations which is why we also travel with this class. Our first destination will be Italy where most of us are from. We'll go camping."
Tsuna narrowed his eyes in suspicion. He could see where this was going and he certainly did not want to go camping if it was anything like uncle Reborn told him. "Is it going to be like that infamous camping trip you took uncle and his friends on when they were younger?"
Nana giggled. "Maybe, maybe not."
Tsuna pouted. "I don't want to get lost."
"You're sense of direction isn't that bad…" She trailed off.
"My sense of direction is amazing." Tsuna protested.
"Then you don't have to worry about getting lost." Nana teased.
"What's the infamous camping trip?" Takeshi asked curiously. Tsuna was glad to see that the banter between him and his mom was making his friends start to relax.
"It's a trip that happened before any of us were born. Mama took uncle Reborn and his friends on a camping trip and just left them there for them to find their way back a week later." Tsuna explained.
"It was a bonding exercise." Nana added.
"I found it weird that they decided to go on another camping trip with mama a few months after that one."
"They went on another one!?" Hayato exclaimed in disbelief.
"I told them I would stay that time, which I did. They honestly wished I would have left them again." Nana looked proud of herself.
Hayato let out a soft snort and Takeshi, Chrome, and Ryohei started to laugh. Hibari smirked and Mukuro let out a chuckle.
The class ended up becoming a question and answer session for the past and upcoming camping trips. By the end of the class everyone was more relaxed around Nana and were all seated on the floor in front of her.
She clasped her hands together and smiled. "Congratulations on completing the first day of the knight class. Isn't it nice to just sit down and talk sometimes?"
The seven of them agreed with her but Hibari and Mukuro refused to say it out loud.
"These classes will get harder but I hope all of you can work well with each other in the future. Now go your tutors should be waiting for you. Mukuro. Chrome. You two can stay we'll practice here."
On their way out pitying looks were cast at Mukuro and Chrome but there were no offers of help.
Mammon looked at the arguing Varia members from under her hood who sat at the dinner table. She sat between Bel - who was like an annoying little brother- and Lussuria - who acted as the mother of the group. Her boss, Xanxus, was sitting in his throne like chair with his eyes closed. It was amusing how none of them knew she was female but she had a suspicion that her boss, Xanxus, knew. It was actually easier to let them guess since she got money in the end when they tried to bet on her gender.
She found it better to listen to them argue and gather information than say anything and mess with their plans and boasting. Besides, it wasn't the right time in the conversation to give any important information.
The Varia haven't members even met those they were fighting but they were confident that they could beat them. The only mist user I know stronger than me is Nana and if she's training the mist guardian then it will be tough. I've known Reborn long enough to see that he would only get the best to protect his nephew.
Her phone buzzed and she read the text that she had been waiting for.
-Basil is leaving with the fake Vongola rings soon- R
-I still wonder why i'm going along with this.- M
-We're practically family and family helps each other with their schemes- R
-You had the Vongola rings delayed so Tsuna's guardians could have more time to train.-M
-It would have been difficult for anyone else but, I am the best. Do your part so this all doesn't go to waste.- R
-Besides, Tsuna's guardians needs to know how strong the Vaira are. I don't want them thinking they can easily defeat a group of trained assassins without working hard.-R
-Why don't you just give them an easier group to go up against?-M
It was an old argument in the month they've been having it. No one trustworthy outside their circle. All of the Arcobaleno cared about Tsuna as if he were their own to protect and Reborn trusted them to care for Tsuna.
-No one else in our circle is a part of a group that Tsuna can fight with. Well, Skull is, but a five year old with a gun can defeat his group. Which Tsuna already did. At five.-R
-You're just bragging about your nephew now. You're starting to sound like the idiot leader at CEDEF. Aka, your brother-in-law.-M
-Don't remind me of my relation to him, let's just get this started-R
Mammon rolled her eyes in amusement. She looked up from her phone and spoke, causing the argument that just started up between Bel and Leviathan to pause. "My contact just told me a CEDEF agent is about to leave with the Vongola rings."
Xanxus slowly opened his red eyes and briefly stared at Mammon. Mammon refused to make any suspicious moves and continued to eat as normal. Mammon didn't shift nervously and pull her hood down since she knew her eyes were too expressive. She didn't want her boss to suspect anything of her plans. She's still loyal to him and will follow him anywhere but her family does come first and Reborn rarely ever calls in for favors.
"Shark-Trash, go after the CEDEF Trash and bring me the rings."
"VOIIIII-"
Mammon blocked out whatever he said as soon as he started screaming. Why did he have to be so loud? He's going to do whatever the boss said anyways. How was he such a successful assassin? It was a mystery she still couldn't solve.
She was glad her boss trusted her enough not to ask for her contacts name but it did make her feel a little guilty for doing this.
The last favor from Reborn was called when Tsuna just turned six and had a fight with Reborn. Unfortunately at the same time something bad happened to Tsuyoshi's wife so Reborn had to leave Tsuna behind. Mammon had to watch Tsuna for a little over a month in the Varia mansion but she had to leave for three days during that time to block Takeshi's memories.
I hope that doesn't get in the way of this fight. Tsuna was young so he shouldn't remember it and none of the Varia ever saw his face so it should be fine. At least I think so.
*****.*** Line Break ***.*****
It was finally friday. Tsuna, Takeshi, and Hayato were walking home after their last class of the day.
Takeshi had his hands behind his head and was looking up to the sky as he walked on Tsuna's left side.
Hayato was walking on Tsuna's right side since he had an argument with Yamamoto that the right hand man should walk on the right side.
Tsuna was massaging his temples. His hyper intuition was acting up since this morning and had been for the past two days. It was giving him a mild headache. Tsuna was sure Reborn had something to do with it since his intuition had been acting up every time Reborn was near. Plus, his uncle seemed more suspicious than usual.
People normally wouldn't notice if Reborn acted suspicious since he is the greatest hitman in the world. Tsuna could only tell since he's been around Reborn most of his life. Everytime he was planning something, Reborn would send Tsuna away more even though he usually kept a close eye on Tsuna. Since Tsuna had to stay with him because of training, Reborn would make Tsuna do solo training or send him to check on his friend's training. What is he planning?
"Nothing bad has happened yet. It has been so peaceful." Takeshi said with what sounded like frustration.
"Those words sound like bad luck." Hayato grumbled.
"Haha, If something comes I'm sure we can defeat it."
The headache started to get worse. All Tsuna could hear was the blood rushing through him and the thundering sound of his heart. Suddenly the headache and sound stopped. That's not good.
A loud sound was heard ahead of them. A large cloud of dust rose up from the destroyed part of a building and someone came flying right into Tsuna. Tsuna used his reflexes to catch the person and only stumbled a few steps back. Tsuna had an arm wrapped around the person's waist to keep them steady.
Tsuna looked at the person's face. It was a boy, older than Tsuna, with light brown hair and a blue flickering dying will flame on his head. His hyper intuition didn't say he was dangerous which, luckily for the boy, kept him from being dropped on the ground. Tsuna held his hand out to stop his friends from attacking the boy.
"He isn't dangerous."
"Who is that Tsuna?" Takeshi asked while taking a step closer to Tsuna. He had his sword out and was scanning the area ahead of them. Hayato had his dynamites out and was doing the same thing but he was alternating scanning the area with glaring at the boy.
Tsuna shrugged. "I don't know."
"VOOOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII-"
"Hahaha. Why is someone yelling 'you' in Italian?" Takeshi questioned but still stayed on guard.
"CEDEF TRASH, WHERE ARE YOU?"
The boy's eyes snapped open revealing blue the same color as his flames and moved away from Tsuna's arms.
His eyes widened when he looked at Tsuna. "Sawada-Dono -" Dono? "I am Basil, a CEDEF agent."
He pushed a small box in Tsuna's hands and gave a relieved smile. "The Vongola rings, I am glad they they have reached thou safely."
Tsuna opened the box and touched the boss ring he immediately took his hand off the ring and shut the box. He frowned. The rings felt off almost as if they were…
Tsuna sighed and shook his head. He knew what his uncle was up to now.
Another figure came towards them quickly and Tsuna sighed again. No time to worry about the rings. They had a fight on their hands.
