Chapter Nineteen: Once More Down the Broken Highway
They hadn't really talked about how they were going to tell their friends that they've decided to be together. Also, Wes hasn't exactly decided if he's going to be with Rachel in New York, or stay with David in Ohio. Of course, he's torn between his girlfriend and his best-friend. They've always had the "bros-over-hoes" policy, since they have been friends, but never has Wes been more torn than he is right now. He knows beyond all, that he wants to be with Rachel, but he doesn't want to leave David. That is what he knows, and that is what goes through his mind as he knocks on the front door of Kurt, Blaine, Nick and Jeff's house. He's come all this way, he may as well talk to people that can knock some sense into him, and who better to do that, then Kurt Hummel. He's about to turn around, almost having talked himself out of it, when the door opens, and he sees Kurt, standing there, smirk on his face, arms crossed, making a joke about David kicking him out already. He keeps calm, and asks if he can talk to Kurt about something, the countertenor nods, and lets the former Head Warbler into the house, closing the door, and showing him through to the study. If Wes knows anything right now, it's that he's never been more terrified in his life. This is just him and Kurt talking… about girls… but still. They sit in silence for a moment, before Kurt asks him what is going on. Wes takes a deep breath, and then manages to squeak out something about having to choose between Rachel and David, and not knowing what to do, wanting Kurt's help. If Kurt is surprised, he doesn't show it. If he is thinking many different insulting things, or teasing things to say, he doesn't voice them. It's times like this, where Wes is super impressed that Kurt can say a lot without actually saying anything. The countertenor instead, looks at Wes, not saying a word, and then simply replies with the simplest reply of them all:
'You already know the answer Wes, you're just afraid to admit it to yourself…'. How can he compete with that? If he's ever been lost for an answer, he knows the person to come to is Kurt, but how can he argue with that? Truth? He can't, because it's right. Kurt's right, as always. He already knows what he wants to do, and it's going to hurt someone he loves very much.
He hadn't stayed long, only about fifteen minutes, just as Blaine was returning home, Wes was leaving, he didn't even stop to say hi to their former Lead Warbler, instead completely ignoring him, and heading for his car. He must get back, talk to people, and work out his life. Blaine raises an eyebrow as he reaches Kurt, but nothing is said between the two, Kurt just kisses him, and then hugs him, asking how his first recording session went. They enter the house, talking amicably about their day, and lamenting on how tomorrow, they're hardly going to see one another, because Kurt starts Law School, and Blaine starts recording, and school as well, but mostly recording. Kurt stops, mid cut of the carrots, to make Blaine promise that no matter how busy they are with school and whatnot, they're going to try and make time for one another. Blaine, sensing that something else is going on, walks around to where Kurt is making dinner, places his hands either side of Kurt's face and kisses him, only pulling back to mutter the words "promise" and "always". Tomorrow, they officially start their freshmen years of college. Kurt, Blaine and Jeff at Harvard, and Nick at Emerson. It's a new beginning, a chance to move forward, to leave everything else behind. Kurt wants to be able to do that. He doesn't want to be living in the past, where it keeps coming back to kick him and get him down. He's not doing it anymore. He's going to make the most of every day, and not waste anything. That's what he's taking out of his sessions with his therapist. Nick is happy that his best-friend has gone back to counselling, and Kurt has noticed that he's been less aggravated, probably because Kurt's not such a burden on them anymore. He's getting better, they all know it. He just has to keep getting better. The surprise visit from Wes doesn't stay secret long, because Blaine brings it up when they're all seated around the dinner table, laughing and talking. All Kurt says, is that he has a choice to make, but he already knows what he's going to do, that he can't be afraid to do it. Nick just nods, and the conversation returns to shenanigans by the Warblers at Dalton, before Kurt was there. Kurt likes listening to those stories, especially ones about his boyfriend doing something silly that he can one day, hold against the man he loves, or just as a way to make Blaine laugh. This is just the beginning.
Rachel isn't expecting the knock on her door at three in the morning. Regardless, she answers it, only to be kissed by Wes, who pushes her back into the apartment, closes the door, and presses her against it. Kurt was right. He had to make a choice, and this time he's following his heart. If David can't be happy for him, then he isn't the friend that Wes thought he was. Just as he's about to suggest they move their rendezvous to Rachel's bedroom, she stops them, and knowing that she's about to start talking, Wes decides that if kissing her is going to delay the talk until at least tomorrow, then that's what he's going to do. The former ND member just smiles, and leads Wes through to her bedroom, closing the door. They don't talk much that night, obviously, but in the morning, they're going to have to definitely have a discussion about what this is and where it's going. Rachel tries to keep thinking of things, and then Wes pushes her t-shirt up and over her head, and begins kissing down her neck, over the top of her chest, reaching her breasts, kissing each of them tenderly, before slowly pushing one of the straps down her arm, and sitting back to remove his own shirt, already feeling the tent in his pants. He wants this, he wants Rachel. Maybe a part of him has always wanted her, but he's never been able to condone it before, considering they were competition. Now though, now he just wants her. All of her. They got lost in one another, falling asleep curled together and not worrying about what they're going to have to tell their friends, or anything like that until a later date. It doesn't become a big deal until Wes wakes up, pulls his clothes back on, and heads out to the lounge area to find Rachel, talking with Santana, who smirks and winks at the shorter brunette, before leaving. Wes looks at her, confused, and then realises what Mercedes must have said. Rachel had wanted to keep them on the downlow, until she could tell Finn face-to-face. This was not what Wes wanted to hear.
'We need to work out if this is a relationship. Are you my girlfriend?' he asked
'Yes Wes, I'm your girlfriend. But that doesn't change the fact that I still…'
'Want to fly to LA and tell your ex-boyfriend to his face. I understand. I need to head back to Ohio and talk to David,' Wes replied
'So, you're going to need a place to stay then, since all the on-campus housing will be gone? You can stay here, Brea won't mind,' Rachel replied, knowing that this is a conversation that will take longer than ten minutes to have
There are three notebooks that Wes had reserved for classes, that have now been taken up with scrawled speeches, or lines that he's thinking of, that could possibly make this easier for David to stomach. He's been trying to figure the whole thing out on the trip back to Ohio. He really wants to give this the best he's got, and tell David that this is something he needs to pursue. It was never his intention to ditch CSU and move to New York. He never wanted to do that, but he believes in fate, and Rachel coming into his life, he believes that New York is where he's meant to be. Tomorrow, he's going to call the admissions officers at NYU and get his transfer started. It was never his intention to hurt David, he loves the man like a brother. Rachel, on the other hand, must tell Finn to his face, because she doesn't want this to make it to LA, without her first having gone through all the facets. She and Finn might not be as close as they used to be, but they're friends, and they're exes, and it's always going to be awkward, no matter what the situation. But if she's going to give her relationship with Wes a real shot, then she must talk to Finn. She takes the day, and lands at LAX at about seven thirty that night, only a small bag, and a list of topics in her mind. She thinks about how she's going to approach the subject, on the taxi ride to Finn's apartment. However, when she gets there, everything she had planned in her mind falls apart, and she's left with fears, and doubts that this is a good idea. Without being conscious of it, she knocks on the door, but is surprised when it is opened by a young woman, her age. She asks if she has the right apartment, explaining that she is Rachel, a friend of Finn's. The girl introduces herself as Alisha, and tells Rachel that she's Finn's girlfriend, and that it's awesome to meet someone from his highschool days. Rachel, shocked at the news, but nods and smiles. Alisha calls to Finn, who appears in the lounge, and upon seeing his ex, drops the book he's holding. Alisha frowns, but leaves the two of them to talk, at Finn's request. To say that the silence in the room isn't awkward, would be a lie. Rachel decides to just come out with it, even though apparently, what she thought was a two-way street, is closed off on one lane.
'I didn't know you had a new girlfriend, or that you were living together,' Rachel said, not venomous, just… Rachel-like
'Why are you here Rachel?' Finn asked, almost exasperated
'I just wanted you to hear from me that Wes Montgomery and I are dating. I wanted to be the one to tell you, because I thought we were friends, and I despite everything, I loved you. I just needed to tell you to your face, so you didn't hear second-hand,' Rachel replied
'Rachel, we are friends. I'm glad that you've been able to move on. I'm happy now, you're happy now. This is good. I'm happy that you're happy. Congratulations,' Finn said, and that was the end of their conversation, Rachel thanked him, and said goodbye, before leaving
FLASHBACK
Burt has "the talk" with Kurt, after accidentally walking in on them
He never wanted to see that. Don't get him wrong, Burt loves his son, but he didn't need to see that. Ever. He had given the boys time to compose themselves, and when the bedroom door opened, and Kurt appeared in the doorway, Blaine behind him, all the confidence he'd built up came crashing down when he remembered that his little boy isn't so little anymore. He told the boys to sit on the bed, and then sat between them, so that they couldn't touch each other. If Kurt wanted to be like that in this house, then both he and Blaine are going to have to endure this speech. Burt started it like any normal parent would with the whole 'birds and bees' metaphor. He chuckled when Blaine cringed and moved a little away from him, as if Burt was going to reach over and hurt him. Kurt had gone beet red, and wasn't looking at Blaine, or his father, choosing instead to look at the white carpet on the floor. Burt continued, saying that he understands that it's different for them, because they're gay, and he's not trying to say that he doesn't approve of them (because he does, he doesn't need to have the visuals though), but that he just wants them to understand and be safe like everyone else. Using the information Carole had gathered, so that he could have this talk with Kurt when the time was right, he proceeded to tell Kurt and Blaine about all the ins and outs of their physical relationship. Blaine wasn't looking at Burt now, he too was staring at the ground. Finn had come home halfway through this talk, and decided he wanted to watch them squirm. Burt had told him he could listen, because he needs to talk to Finn about this as well. Kurt had never seen his step-brother move faster out of a room. Burt chuckled, and went back to talk to Kurt and Blaine about different kinds of positions, protection and massages. At some point, Blaine had moved so that he was sitting on a chair, close to the door, whilst Kurt was now rocking back and forth, as if he was being tortured. Finally, Burt stood, and said that he loves them both, he just wants to them to be safe, and that he's installing a lock on Kurt's door because he doesn't need to see that again. Then he hugs his son, pats Blaine's shoulder (whilst giving him a silent warning), before leaving the room. Kurt and Blaine studied all night that night… far away from one another.
It's Nick and Jeff's four-year anniversary, and to celebrate, they're apparently getting matching tattoo's, which isn't' what Kurt thought Jeff was going to say when they excitedly entered the kitchen that morning. Blaine is also looking at them like they're crazy. It's September, and the snow has started lightly falling, so the fireplace is lit, and that light is filtering through the house, and onto the brightly coloured pieces of paper that Nick and Jeff have laid out on their dining room table, so that Kurt and Blaine can help them pick out which tattoo they should get. Kurt tells them they're crazy, and that he must leave for his first day of Law School. He kisses Blaine, tells him to rock it in the studio, then leaves the three boys standing around the table, Nick holding different pictures up to the light, and talking with Jeff. Blaine watches the interaction. He and Kurt have been together for a year and six months. Whilst their relationship is shorter than Jeff and Nick's, Blaine knows that it's long lasting. He also knows, that when they reach their four-year anniversary, they're not getting matching tattoos, like their two idiot roommates. Blaine stands, telling them that they should do something that symbolizes their relationship, but not destroy their bodies, then gathers his things to head to the studio. If he can start early, maybe he can be home before midnight tonight, then he and Kurt can talk about Kurt's first official day of law school. Nick and Jeff take a moment to let Blaine's words sink in. He's right about tattoos destroying their bodies, and when they're old and wrinkled… ugh. Nick shudders at the thought, and they discard the pictures in the recycle bin. Jeff brings up several suggestions about what they can do, or get for each other, but none of them seem to be right. Then, as they're watching TV, something hits them like a tonne of bricks, and they share a sly smile with each other, before sprinting off to their bedroom, changing and heading out of the house, to put their plans into action.
He'd had an easy start to the day. Kurt had studied so much, that he was ahead of some of the other students in the class, and had been put in a study group, consisting of five other people. They had to think of a creative name for their groups, as they would be working together a lot over the next four years. Kurt had wanted to give some suggestions, but decided to stay back and let the others fight over what they should be called. In the end, their group decided on the name Corporate Crew. Kurt didn't like the name, but it makes sense he supposes. They're in school to become corporate lawyers, and they are kind of a crew. He had bonded, mainly with some of the guys in the group, and one of the girls. Obviously, in every group, there has to be a leader, and the girl, formally known as Renee, but dubbed Queen Bitch, had taken that post, along with her sidekick, Captain Stupid (real name Chad). Kurt had chuckled with the others when the origin of the names was explained. Honestly, it's the first time he's felt included in a group, so he was fitting in. Late that evening, Blaine manages to make it home by nine-thirty, and Kurt is impressed, but stresses that Blaine shouldn't rush, that he understands, and he'll be here always. Blaine loves Kurt for that, and the two head to their bedroom for their talk. They've been trying to get a good solid talk in before they go to sleep. Either that, or they just completely spend the time together, not doing anything else, just being with each other. It's about eleven-thirty, when their bedroom door is thrown open, and Nick and Jeff are standing in the threshold, holding hands between then, whilst Nick holds a piece of paper in the air, and begins ranting about he and Jeff coming up with the perfect idea for their anniversary. Kurt and Blaine just watch the two have a conversation between themselves, still not knowing what's going on. Nick is talking a mile a minute, and Jeff can't wipe the stupid grin from his face. Kurt has a funny feeling they've done something dramatic, that they can't just take back with the snap of a finger, and Blaine wonders if they got high, or got their tattoo's. Finally, Nick and Jeff settle enough, and Kurt asks them what's going on.
'So, after Blaine said that tattoos would completely ruin our skin, we had to think of something else to do for our anniversary. It was completely unusual at first, but totally worth it. It's so amazing, I can't believe we actually did it,' Nick said, excitedly
'WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO? You've been dancing around it for half an hour. Just tell us so we can go to sleep,' Blaine shouted, frustrated
'Jeff and I co-signed a loan for a piece of land,' Nick said, and Kurt just gaped at them, whilst Blaine frowned in confusion
'What?' Kurt asked, not sure he'd heard them correctly
'We signed a loan with the bank, for a piece of land, and when we save up enough, we're going to build a house there,' Jeff replied, and before Kurt or Blaine could say anything else, Niff left the room, and confusion in their friends.
FLASHBACK
Dalton Shenanigans with Kurt III: The Greatest Detention Escape Ever
Their latest prank had gone terribly wrong. What that means, is that when Kurt woke up this morning, he never expected that he'd end up in detention with the rest of the Warblers. He's going to kill Wes, and pin the murder on David, because they're the reason they're all in this mess in the first place. Their teacher for detention, Mr. Fisk, was sitting at the front of the room, reading a magazine. Kurt had brought some homework with him, and was trying to do it, but Wes kept throwing little bits of paper around the room, and some of them kept hitting him. It didn't help that Fisk wasn't paying attention, or that Blaine was at the other end of the room, and couldn't stop Wes without drawing attention to himself. But of course, until the twins come up with a plan, they're stuck here. Kurt can't believe he's going to be party to their detention break. But according to David, if they can pull off something epic, it will go down as one of the best detention breaks that Dalton has ever seen. When David said that Kurt was intrigued, to say the least because it will be a story to tell one day, or even at the reunion in twenty years. He's still going to kill Wes. He's halfway through an assignment for their English class, when the speaker crackles to life, and they head Emmanuel's voice, saying that all students and teachers need to congregate in the school yard immediately, for an important meeting. Mr Fisk looks up at the students before him, most of whom look inconspicuous doing work, the stands and tells them to follow him. Wes nods at David, who hangs back to get the supplies they need. Fisk tells them to wait in the classroom, he's going to find out what's going on. Before he can open the door to leave, there is a bang from outside, and the Wes stands up with a pee wee gun, loaded with foam balls, and starts shooting them at the teacher, yelling to the others that they need to take back the halls, this is Warbler Warfare. Kurt grabs some paper, and throws it in the air, then runs out of the classroom, and down the hall towards the common room, where the other Warblers are waiting. Mr Fisk arrives, as does the headmaster, to find the Warblers just sitting on the couches, and without making any facial expression, congratulates them, smirking before turning to leave. Wes stands, bows and shakes David's hand, the twins get a standing ovation when they re-join the group. They're most definitely going to win most epic detention break.
Whilst Rachel was in LA, Wes had gone back to Ohio to talk to David. The other boy had taken it better than Wes had expected him to. He thought there would be yelling and a huge fight, and their friendship would be ruined. But David just told Wes that he's right, he needs to see if this thing with Rachel has any merit, and that he wasn't going to stand in the way, if that's what Wes needed to 's sitting in his first lecture for the day when he gets a text from David, saying that he's in town, and when he's finished in class he wants to talk, then texts him a location. Wes frowns at his phone, but replies okay, and goes back to paying attention to his lecturer. He and Rachel have been adjusting to their new relationship and living status, but it's going well. He's enjoying her company, and Brea, their roommate, is nice, when she's not playing video games, and yelling at her boyfriend. But of course, that's not something that Wes can argue with. After class ends, he goes to meet David, who is waiting for him at the apartment that he and Rachel share now. There is something so strange about seeing his best-friend here, especially when he should be in Ohio, starting the first semester with the rest of them. David doesn't say anything, even when they're inside. He stands in silence, looking around the small living area of the apartment building, before tuning to look at Wes. He could avoid it whilst Wes has been in New York, try and push it away, not think about it, but now that he's here, and he sees that Wes is happy, he can't help but wonder whether or not his plan is pertinent now. He doesn't want to ruin their already rocky friendship, but he can't keep hiding half of himself. Of course, he'd talked to Kurt and Blaine, and Nick and Jeff. He didn't want to go into this blind, and even though they were surprised, (Kurt wasn't, apparently, he knew), they told him that he needs to tell Wes, if that's what he's feeling, and then let the former Head Warbler decide. So, David is in New York. He's sitting on one of the bar stools at the counter in the kitchen, whilst Wes just watches him from the opposite side of the counter. He's about to ask what is going on, when David says something he never thought he'd ever hear come out of his best-friends mouth
'Wes, I know you're in a relationship with Rachel, but I just need you to know… I have feelings for you. I have for a while. I know it sounds selfish, but I thought that you coming to Ohio State with me, meant that you felt the same way. I honestly thought you knew.'
'I… you have feelings for me…. Like…. David, are you… what?'
'I'm… I have feelings for you Wes,' David replied
'I need to process this. David, I didn't know that you were gay. You never said anything. All these years. You come here and tell me this now? I can't tell whether you're being serious, or if this is a ploy to get me back to Ohio. I just… I need some time to process all of this,' Wes replied, moving into the lounge, to get as far from David as possible.
He thinks about it though. Really, he does. Something springs up inside of him, something that feels like attraction, but he pushes that down. He really likes Rachel. Really likes her. But something about what David said, has him thinking about all of this again. He doesn't know how he's feeling now. David moves to stand in front of him, a little way away, but far enough so that if Wes were to reach for him, he'd be able to touch him. But, instead of doing that, he turns around and slams his fists against the wall, and then mumbles something to himself that David doesn't quite hear, before telling Wes that he's staying in town for a couple of days, at the Victoria Hotel, in room 5108 if he wants to talk, and leaves. Wes slumps down onto the couch, knowing that he must talk to someone about this, but unsure of where it leaves him now. He can't help but think about it, and the things he's feeling… he's never thought about them before, because he never acknowledged that there might be something more than friendship between him and David, but obviously, he's not the only one who has been thinking about this. It's odd though, that David wouldn't tell him that he's gay. He knows that Wes would have been supportive. Or maybe it was because Wes has never given any inclination that he himself is gay, so David hid his feelings, for the fear that it would ruin their friendship. Perhaps Wes is bi. He would know, if he's getting these feelings about David and he has the same feelings about Rachel, then he must be bi… right? He needs a drink, but he's underage, and he can't afford to be caught doing something like that, especially because he's studying to be a lawyer. It would be kind of ironic if he was caught breaking the law he's studying to protect. He heads out of the apartment, texting the one person he knows beyond all, will give him the truth: Santana Lopez. Apparently, she's the best when it comes to giving honest, to the point advice. She'll know what to do, and what to say, and Wes needs all the help he can get right now.
Somehow, Rachel hears about what happened with David, and it's not surprising, because Brea was probably in her room when he came over. Santana was helpful. She told Wes that he could be bi, but that it's not something to take lightly, that he needs to explore both sides and work out what he is, before he can tell anyone else anything. Rachel tells him that she understands his need to work all this out, but does question whether he still wants to be with her. At the thought of a break up, Wes tells Rachel that of course he wants to be with her, he loves her, and that's the truth. Now he just has to work out what feelings he's having for David, and make the choice between them. Either way, he's going to either lose his relationship, or his friendship. Or both. Regardless, this is the worst time for this to be happening. He can't even go to talk to Kurt or Blaine about it, because they're both busy, like he is, with school and recording, as are Nick and Jeff. He's basically go no one, unless he's desperate enough to call Sebastian, but that would then open a whole different can of worms. Rachel tells him that one of the most effective ways of working out feelings is to get physical. She tells him that he needs to kiss David, and if he feels something more, then he's got his answer. This doesn't seem like it will work. It's going to make things exponentially worse if it goes the wrong way, and if it goes the other way, then Wes may as well be one of those hamsters running on a wheel to nowhere. Wes doesn't like the idea, but Rachel assured him that she's okay with it. Wes is nervous when he gets to the Victoria Hotel and knocks on door 5108. David answers, looking tired, and lets Wes in. The former Head Warbler explains what Rachel said to him, and David, says that it's worth a try. Wes nods, and stands still, letting David come to him. When their lips meet, it's anti-climactic… for both boys. David frowns, confused and then chuckles. His chuckles turn into full on laughter, and before he can comprehend or ask what is funny, Wes is cackling away as well. When their fits of laughter finally die down, and Wes asks what's funny, David explains.
'I don't have feelings for you Wes. I just thought I did. I know that sounds harsh, and I'm sorry, but that kiss was…'
'Anti-climactic? I know. Look, for what it's worth, whomever you do decide to pursue a relationship with, isn't going to be disappointed in the kissing department,' Wes said, winking
'This just got awkward,'
'Yup. I love you bro. You're my best friend David. You always will be,' Wes replied, and they hugged, vowing to never speak of this again…. or at least the next ten years.
She'd been thinking about it, ever since Blaine gave Kurt his promise ring. She wanted to be with Brittney. She wanted to have that life with her, and she wanted the world to know it. It was completely spontaneous. They had been invited to Kurt, Blaine, Nick and Jeff's for a "first-month-of-college" party, and thought that it would be the perfect time to tell all their friends about their lives together. Santana was surprised to see Finn and his girlfriend Alisha had flown over for this party, she didn't think they would be able to make it out, considering they're on the West Coast. Mercedes managed to get out here too, as well as most of the Warblers. Kurt and Blaine are laughing and chatting with people, and it's the first time in a long while, that Santana has seen that in either of them. They're really working hard on their relationship. Rachel has told her that Kurt is still attending therapy, and that he and Blaine make time to talk, and just be together. The sex must be great too, because Blaine is literally glowing, and beaming whenever he looks at Kurt. She always knew that Kurt was a closeted sex god, waiting for the right man to unleash his wild side. She catches Kurt's eye and smiles, as they make their way over to her and Brittney, who have taken to standing by the fireplace, where it's warm. When Brittney catches sight of Kurt, she latches onto him, hugging the life out of him, and telling him how happy she is and excited for them, and proud of them. Kurt just tells her that he feels the same about her accomplishments, and they go off on a tangent talking about something else. It's Blaine, who catches on first. He lets out a high-pitched squeal, and then hugs Santana, congratulating her. Kurt looks at them, confused, and Santana takes Brittney's hand and announces to the room that she and Brittney are engaged. There are cheers, and then Mercedes proposes a toast, and laughter fills the room. Kurt is the one who leads them into a karaoke sing off, Warblers vs New Directions. Alisha sits out and watches them all gather around. Rachel picks the first song, and sings with Artie, the second song, is the Warblers re-creating their Train cover, and then Blaine gets up and sings his first single from his album, which he dedicates to Kurt.
Alisha and Finn return to their suite in the Victoria Hotel at about two am that morning. Both fall into the bed, still dressed in their party clothes. When she wakes in the morning, Alisha rushes into the bathroom, and leans over the toilet bowl. She must have eaten too much, or drank too much last night, because she feels terrible. Finn finds her, leaning against the bathroom wall. She has a pounding headache, and her stomach is in shambles. He takes her back to the bed, tells her to lie down, he's going to go out and get her some stuff from the store. He pulls on a jacket, puts his shoes on, grabs the key and leaves the room. He makes it down the hall, and into the elevator, before he begins overthinking everything. She didn't drink much last night, nor eat anything particularly bad that could have made her sick. He shakes it off, and pulls out his phone. Alisha sits upright, and runs back into the bathroom, rummaging through her toiletries, until she finds what she's looking for. The box has been staring at her for two weeks. This isn't how she planned for this to happen. She wanted to have a career first. She's working herself up and she doesn't even know if that's what it is yet. Finn is flipping through the list he made, when he comes across something unexpected. It's a phone number for a clinic in LA, where Alisha must have made an appointment. It's for Monday afternoon. Figuring it's just a check-up, Finn flips to the page he wrote his list on, and doesn't think anything else of it. He's being paranoid to be honest. When he returns to the hotel room, he isn't surprised to find his girlfriend is back in the bathroom, sitting on the floor. She looks up when he walks in, holding medicine that he says is supposed to help with nausea, but stops talking when Alisha sighs loudly. Finn looks at her, worried, and asks her if there is something else wrong, because he found he number for the clinic. Alisha looks up at him and wants so badly to pretend that it's something else, to not have to worry about his reaction when she tells him the truth, but he's sounding so worried and when he says about the clinic she knows she should tell him the truth.
'Finn, I'm pregnant…'

Nick and Kurt discuss how their relationships won't affect their friendship
Jeff and Blaine have been paired together in suicides for PE. Nick and Kurt watch them from the other side of the Gym, where they're waiting for their turn to partake in the activity. Nick and Kurt have been best-friends for eleven years. Burt and Nick's mother calls them the 'Idiot Twins' because they were always doing stupid things, and sometimes they like to dress up in the same colour clothing, and pretend they were fashion gurus or something. Kurt chuckles at the memory, reminding Nick of the day they tried to get their parents to partake in their fashion show, only for Burt to tell them that if they tried to get him to wear something other than jeans and plaid, he would have no choice but to insist they help him in the garden. They had both been so terrified of getting dirty, that they dropped it and it was never spoken of again…... until now of course. But it's just one of the many memories they have together. It's back when things were simpler, before they got into boyfriend's and feelings. They could just be idiots, and no one would care. They've known each other for a long time, and he doesn't trust anyone, more than he trusts Kurt. So, when he and Jeff started dating, he made sure that the boy knew how important Kurt is to him, and when Blaine started going out with Kurt, he too was given the memo of how important Nick was to him. They all get along well anyway, so it's not like it's a big deal, but Nick and Kurt did discuss how their relationships won't affect their friendship. Many a friendship has been lost because of a significant other coming into the picture, but Nick and Kurt are determined that it won't happen to them, and if any two people can uphold that, it's Nick and Kurt. Both boys have decided that as much as they spend time with their partners, they need to spend time together as well, because their friendship is just like a relationship. You must work at it, for it to keep functioning. Nick tells him that they're growing up, and this sends them into another laughing fit, because they're far from grown up right now. They're trying not to think about it, until they graduate, but they both know that Nick is right. They both know they're growing up, and eventually they're going to have to deal with that.
'No matter what Kurt, you will always be my brother, my best-friend. No matter where Jeff and I, or you and Blaine end up okay? Our friendship is important to me, always,'
'I know, and the same goes for me okay? Nick, we've been friends a long time. You know me better than most people, except Blaine. Just because we're growing up, doesn't mean we'll drift apart. I'm not going to let it happen,'
'Me either. I know this is cheesy, but friends forever?' Nick asked, holding out his pinkie, the way they used to when they were younger
'Friend's forever,' Kurt said, wrapping his pinkie around Nicks, then laughing at the kiddie shake.
