A/N: It's weird. I've been writing this story for almost two years I think, and i've almost finished it. Yes that's right, this is the second last chapter. After this, it will be the last chapter. I think what's been holding me back, is mainly writers block and Uni, but also, sometimes I just wonder whether or not my work is good enough. Today, in Australia (25/4/17) it is ANZAC day. If you like history, google this. You might learn something you didn't know before. But oh well. I am able to express myself on here, and it's fiction so it doesn't matter. But I hope you're enjoying this story. This is almost the end of The Abandoned Child. If you're new to the story, welcome. If you've been here since the beginning, thank you. Enjoy. Read and Review and put me on alert because I might be doing another Glee Fiction, or even something from another show. So stay tuned. Enjoy. JusticeIsn'tEasy0083. D.

Chapter Twenty-One: New Year, New Starts, Old Habits

The hotel they're staying at in New York is new. It only opened a week ago, and yet his boyfriend somehow managed to get them a room for a week. He's not sure how he did it, and he's a little afraid to ask, but he needn't have worried, because Blaine tells him that one of the producers of his CD had booked it for him and his wife, but then they had a little tiff (he caught her cheating on him), and offered Kurt and Blaine the room for the week, to spend some time together, because he looks up to their relationship. Blaine had taken him up on the offer, and so here they are, curled up together on the large bed, in the master bedroom, naked still, with the soft sheets covering them, watching Netflix re-runs of Gilmore Girls. It's the first time in a while, where they've just been able to be… without having to worry about constant interruptions from Nick and Jeff, or Santana and Brittany. Also, wanting to have the peace and quiet to get some of their school work done. Blaine has an assignment for his English class, that asks the question "What If you had been thrown into a different life?". He and Kurt had been discussing it briefly, over their dinner, which was being paid for by the producer, and Blaine had happily gone ahead and ordered everything he could, at the urging of Tate (the producer), who said it was on his wife's card. It was interesting, to hear what Kurt's what if scenario would be, and compare it to his. Blaine had decided that he was going to focus on his life, if he had been the one in Kurt's shoes, and Kurt had been the one in his. Whilst his boyfriend thought that getting that deep inside each other's minds could be dangerous, Blaine wanted to explore it, so that he can better understand his boyfriend, or even just to see the world the way that Kurt does. They are different in so many ways, and alike in so many ways. It would be interesting to see how they would've reacted in each other's shoes. Blaine wasn't worrying about the assignment right now though, he's too distracted by his boyfriend, who is paying attention to the TV. Blaine curls up to Kurt, resting his cheek on Kurt's torso, whilst the countertenor wraps and arm around his shorter boyfriend, and presses a soft, chaste kiss to his forehead.

Blaine's 'What If' Scenario

Blaine sat by the window, staring out at the snow, falling all around the street. He had been sitting here since early this morning, waiting for his mother to come home. Last night, he had been brought back to his father, Burt, by a woman named Mandy, and her son Nick. He wasn't really sure what had happened, but he knew that his mother had left him at a gas station, miles from home, in the freezing cold. His father had hugged him close, piled clothes on his thin frame, and turned on all the warmers. But he had woken up this morning, bright and early, expecting his mother to be making breakfast in the kitchen, like she usually does. When he plodded downstairs, and saw the kitchen void of life, he decided to take up residence in the window, thinking that maybe she would come home, and be with them again. This is where his father found him later that morning, asking him what he was doing. Blaine, in his tiny little squeaky voice, replied that he was waiting for her. He saw his father's expression change, but wasn't old enough to understand why he didn't' want to talk about her. Nick and Mandy came over again that afternoon, and he and Nick decided they were going to be best-friends forever. Mandy had mentioned something to Burt about enrolling Blaine in school with Nick, but he didn't have the money to move him. As much as Blaine wanted to be in school with his new found best-friend, he also liked the school he was currently at. Some of the people were nice, like that Mercedes girl, and Tina. Some were strange, like Brittany and he was terrified of Noah and Santana, but they didn't really bother him all that much. Rachel was also a little strange, and eccentric for a five-year-old, but considering she had two daddies, he couldn't blame her. He missed his mother, and Rachel grew up without one. Not that there was anything wrong with that. He had been told by his mother and father that some people have two mummies and some have two daddies, and that it's okay. Blaine had never had anything against Rachel, except for the fact that she seemed to get all the solo's, and always took over. Blaine didn't really hang around with anyone in particular, he was always kind of just on his own, but he'd sit with Rachel, Brittany and Mercedes at recess sometimes, because they were nice to him, and the boys didn't really care that much. Finn was best-friends with Noah and Mike, and he didn't really like Blaine that much.

When they got to highschool, Blaine knew that he would be going to McKinley, and he knew that Nick would be going to Dalton, because Nick lives in Westerville. Dalton Academy is a private, boys boarding school. McKinley Highschool is the public highschool in Lima. It's almost a two-hour drive between the two schools, but Burt promised Blaine that as soon as Blaine passes his driver's test, and gets his licence, he and Nick can meet up as much as they want. So, when Blaine turned sixteen, and took his driver's test, he was ecstatic to finally be able to drive to Westerville to see Nick. He had joined the Glee Club, because he could sing, and dance, and Rachel had practically begged him to, as soon as they go to highschool. Mr Schuester, their teacher, was talking about the importance of kick-ass songs for sectionals, but Blaine had tuned out. He wasn't having the best day, and constantly being picked on, and ignored… it was grating on him. Nick lives two hours away at Dalton, and he wants so badly to be there with his best-friend, or have his best-friend here with him, at least then he has something in common with someone, because as far as he can tell, no one else in the Glee Club is gay. He wears bow ties to school, and he's the only one. Unless you count Schuester, but that's just because he's a teacher. For months, since he started school, he's been getting the brunt of the jocks' bullying. Finn's mother and his father have been dating, so Finn has kind of taken on the role of overprotective step-brother. Blaine isn't sure whether or not he's ready for that, but let's Finn play his part. He's halfway towards finishing an assignment for Spanish, when his father, Finn and Carole burst into his room, and demand to know what happening at McKinley. When he tells them, Burt immediately puts in motion, the paperwork to have Blaine transfer to Dalton with Nick. As much as that should excite him, it doesn't. he doesn't really find much joy in a lot of things, and Dr. Zucker said that he needs to try, but he hasn't been back to see his therapist since the last time he tried to self-harm, which was about six months ago. But his nightmares are back, and he knows that staying in a dorm room with Nick, is going to alert his best-friend to this fact.

Nick had been trying to convince him to join the Warblers for about two weeks. He had finally relented, and went along to one of their "impromptu performances", where he noticed that the Lead Warbler, whose name he thinks is Kurt, had an amazing voice. He couldn't help but stare at Kurt, as they danced through Worthington House, stopping other students in their tracks as they watched the Warblers perform, and for a moment, just a split second, he could have sworn that he and Kurt locked eyes, and that the Lead Warbler had made Blaine smile like he's never smiled at anyone before. Immediately, Blaine knew this was something more than it should be. He knows that it's something akin to a crush that he has on Kurt, but he just can't take his eyes off the boy. When the song ended, and all the Warblers had returned to the common room, Nick led Blaine over to the council table, and introduced him to all of the Warblers. Blaine knows his best-friend better than most people, they've been friends since they were five, and he knows that Nick saw him staring at Kurt, which is why he deliberately sits near the Lead Warbler, who raises an eyebrow at Nick, when he demands that Blaine sit between them. Reluctantly, he does, feeling uncomfortable. Nick seems to be having a silent conversation with Kurt, who is then broken out of thought when Wes calls his name, and asks what he has come up with for their performance next week. Nick winks at him, before turning to talk to his boyfriend, Jeff. Blaine and Kurt had ended up spending the rest of the time chatting amicably, and it was the first time that Nick had seen his best-friend laughing and smiling since he'd been here. Blaine was taken aback by how accepting the Warbler were, when he was walking beside Nick, just chatting, and Jeff ran up to his boyfriend, kissed him, winked and ran off. Nick just grinned, whilst Blaine waited for the ridicule, the insults, instead the only thing that happened was Wes and David making kissing noises, and singing 'Nick and Jeff sitting in a tree' over and over. Blaine spotted Kurt, who smiled at him, as they entered their English class, sitting beside one another.

When he found out that his boyfriend, father and best-friend had known all along where his mother was, and had kept it from him, he felt betrayed. He felt as if this was something that had been executed and planned out, to keep him locked out of it on purpose. He's eighteen. Doesn't he deserve to know where his mother is and why she left? That's why he forgives Kurt, and Nick when the apologise to him, and explain that they wanted to tell him, but they were worried about him, and didn't want him to run off before graduation. Blaine tells them that he's taking the summer off to find her, and Kurt tells him that he'll be right beside him, just like the first night they slept together, and he'd said the same thing after Blaine had told him everything. Nick, reluctantly, and against his own morals, agreed that he and Jeff would be there as well, to help Blaine find the answers he deserves, because he's kind of sick of the moodiness that comes with this whole thing. Blaine thanks them, knowing that they mean it, and then returns to studying. He can't bear to face his father right now, doesn't know how he'd be able to look him in the eyes and ask him why he kept this from him for so long. But he knows that he's going to find the answers, and he's not stopping until he does…. Blaine springs awake, sitting up in the bed, and looks over to his left to see Kurt still fast asleep beside him. They had been talking about their 'What If' assignment, and Blaine must have fallen asleep, and dreamt what it would have been like if he were in Kurt's shoes. He'd literally put himself in his boyfriend's life, and realised that all the things that Kurt has been through, the pain, and the loss of his mother, he had never realised until now, was completely savage. He was never able to ask Kurt about it, or say 'I know how you feel', but now he kind of can, because, whilst he's never personally been in the same position as his boyfriend, having had that dream, being put in his shoes for that long, he has a new appreciation for Kurt, and everything that he went though and felt. Laying back down, he hugs Kurt tighter to him, and whispers that he loves him in his ear, before drifting back off to sleep. They're going to talk, no doubt, about this in the morning, but right now, he wants to drift back into dreams that he and Kurt made together.

Everything had been going perfectly. Almost too perfectly. Any minute, something was bound to happen that would throw everything off balance. Just like clockwork, Brittany stormed through the door, slamming it closed, and walked into the living room to find Santana huddled over bridal magazines. She threw her bag onto the table, knocking her fiancée back to reality, then slumped into the chair opposite her. Santana could tell by the look on her face, that everything was about to fall apart. She knew this would happen. It had been way to easy up to this point, and she knows that it's not meant to be as easy as this. Kurt had even told her that, when he was planning his father's wedding, that it hadn't been easy, but because Carole had been helping, things were able to be done to their upmost standard. However, Santana and Brittany wanted to get married as soon as possible, and rushing everything just seemed to be making it harder and harder. Or it was easy, until Brittany came home and told her that the place they wanted to get married in, is closing, and the date they wanted coincides with that, so now they can't get married there, unless they bring the wedding up four weeks, and get married next month. Santana and Brittany both knew that wouldn't work. They couldn't plan it in that amount of time. They began brainstorming places they could go to get married, but none of the places they came up, with were good enough. Or they were, but Santana had always had a vision in her head of where she wanted to get married, and now it's been ruined because the stupid place is closing down. She really wishes that Kurt were here right now, so she could vent to him, and he would come up with a simple solution. She's not a close to Jeff and Nick, and the only other person she could ever dare to ask, is back in Lima, and she's not going back there. Not if she can help it. After that, everything else just seemed to go wrong. Brittany had called Lucy's Florals to enquire about flower, but had been abruptly hung up on when she mentioned that it was for a same-sex wedding. Santana had fumed, because this is New York City… and it's 2016…. But Brittany had just tried the next one on the list.

After four hours, about fifteen hang ups, and seven messages, they decided to call it quits for the night, and go get dinner. Santana had never doubted that she wanted to get married to Brittany. But walking down the street to get dinner, after all their failings today, she was starting to have those doubts, and she hates them. She hates them because she wants this, more than she's wanted anything in her life, and she knows that it's a lot to ask, and maybe she's being a little selfish by wanting things just to go right just for her, but she's finally out from under her parents, and she's making her own choices, and living in New York. Brittany pulls her into a local restaurant, and they're taken to a table, where they sit down. Santana should be listening to what Brittany is talking about, but her fiancée is off on a tangent, something about Lord Tubbington or something, and she's turned her out, instead choosing to focus on the doubt that has been clouding her since this afternoon. Brittany, ever the talker, stops when she notices the Latina's thoughts on something else. Brittany isn't one for "smart" thoughts, but probably right now, Santana is doubting their decision to get married, and she would be lying if she said that she's not having doubts as well, because she is. After fifteen hang ups about flowers, just because she said it was two women getting married, you kind of being to lose faith in people, or just in humanity in general. Brittany may not be the smartest person in the room, but she understands that. She takes Santana's hand over the table, gives her a reassuring smile, but it's mainly just to keep her mind on good things, and maybe it will take them longer than they thought, or maybe they won't be able to do it where they want, but even if they do it at their house, with their friends and families, that will be enough. It doesn't have to be some big, extravagant thing. It can just be simple. Just Brittana. Everything they are, and everything they love about one another. It doesn't need to be an over the top thing. Santana orders for the both of them, and then they talk quietly about anything other than weddings. Halfway through dinner, Santana gets a phone call from someone she hasn't seen in a while, and smiles slightly, before excusing herself to answer it, away from the table. Britt just watches as she walks a little away, before returning to her thoughts, as the doubts start to creep back in.

New Year's had been something else. They had rung in 2016 in New York, with their friends. Something was going on between Nick and Jeff, but they had managed to put it aside, and spend New Year's with them. Kurt and Blaine had been spending this time, just being together, before they head home, and back to school. But it's officially 2016. It's officially the year that Kurt plans to go back to being Kurt Hummel. He has his list of resolutions, the biggest being that he is going to be happy. He is going to have a great year, because he has Blaine, and he has Nick and school is going well, and Santana and Brittany's wedding, and Finn and Alisha are having a baby, and there is a Warbler catch up in April… it's going to be the best year. It's going to be Kurt Hummel's year. They spend New Year's Day at the house, Nick and Jeff are avoiding one another, and Kurt has a feeling it has something to do with the email going around the Warbler vine, about Jeff going to California. Obviously, something else had happened there, but he's not getting involved, unless his best-friend comes to him. Blaine is humming a song under his breath, whilst he writes his essay for English (the one that Kurt had already finished before they even left New York), and Kurt had decided that he was going to start cooking again. after fending off jokes about knives from Jeff and Blaine, (surprisingly Nick didn't chime in), he went about making them dinner. He finds himself really happy right now. He has everything he could ever one. The perfect boyfriend, the perfect house, the best-friends anyone could ask for, he's at his dream school, studying to be a lawyer, which is also his dream, and he and Blaine are stronger than ever. He's seriously, having the best January 1st that anyone has ever had, and it's not even noon yet. In the back of his mind, he knows that the shoe will drop any minute, but for right now, he's ignoring that feeling, and those words, and he's embracing this part of his life. Santana and Brittany arrived at twelve-thirty, and had been trying to hide whatever was going on, but were finally forced to spill by Blaine, who had told them that it was ridiculous they were treated like that. Santana said that she didn't want to talk about it anymore, and then they dropped the subject, promising to have fun again. Kurt was a little too excited, but Blaine let it slide, because he's never seen Kurt this happy… neither has Nick or Jeff either.

Jeff had been offered the chance to move to California and take up the rest of his studies at UCLA, which was better suited to his career choice, as he would be able to get some work out there, where here, there really isn't much to do. Nick, had not been told about this offer yet, so hearing about it from the Warblers, wasn't exactly what he thought would happen. Yet, he kept to himself for about a week, thinking that Jeff would tell him when the time was right. Then after a week, he thought that he might have wanted to wait until Kurt and Blaine got back, but Blaine had been talking with the Warblers in their online forum thing, and apparently, he and Kurt already knew about it, so the only person who "doesn't know", is Nick, and he's been waiting and waiting for Jeff to come to him, to tell him that he's moving to California, that their relationship is doomed, because everyone knows that long distance relationships don't work. Look at Wes and David. He moved from Ohio, to New York to be with Rachel, and those two have barely spoken to each other in three months. Wes has made plans to go to Ohio, take Rachel with him, but they've been so busy with school, they haven't been able to make it happen. Nick has had to watch Wes and David both come to terms with the fact that the next time they see each other, is when the Warblers get back together for one of their impromptu "catch-ups", which according to Blaine, is happening this year in April. He doesn't want that to be him and Jeff. But he knows that it will be. The thing that hurts the most though, is that Jeff never asked Nick if he wanted to go with him. It happened one night, when Nick was just flipping through channels on the TV, and Jeff came into their bedroom, carrying some of his school books, and some papers, and he saw the word 'California' printed on one. He asked his boyfriend about it, and Jeff turned to face him, saying that he's been offered the chance to move to California, and finish out his course at UCLA, so that he can pick up some work whilst he's out there as well. Nick just nods at him, and then asks why he wasn't told two weeks ago, when everyone else seemed to find out. Jeff's smile faltered a little, and then he angrily sighed and turned away from Nick.

'If you already knew, why didn't you say something?' Jeff asked, agitated at this conversation, and feeling a little guilty

'WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME? I HAD TO FIND OUT FROM THE WARBLERS…. The Warblers Jeff. Kurt and Blaine knew about it, and they're still away, and the rest of the Warblers were asking me if I was going with you, but I didn't know, until Wes told me. Were you going to tell me? Are we going to talk about how this affects our relationship?' Nick asked

'I wanted to tell you Nick, but I just couldn't find the right time, and every time I tried to bring it up, I lost my nerve. As for our relationship, we can make it work Nick. You and I are meant to be together, just like Kurt and Blaine. We can make it work,'

'What, with you on the West Coast and me here, on the East Coast? When would we see each other? I can afford to fly back and forth between here and California, and we both know, that with classes, we're hardly going to be able to talk, and even if I did come and visit you, then you'd still be busy, and I'd just be alone in the apartment. You just took this offer without even considering what it would mean for us Jeff. I love you, but long distance? Eighty percent of all long-distance relationships, end in failure. You say we're meant to be? Then why are you moving to California, and why didn't you ask me to come with you?' Nick said, leaving the room when Jeff didn't reply

In the morning, when he woke up, Blaine was standing beside the bed, looking at him oddly. He then realised that he had made his way into Klaine's room, and fell asleep. He sat up, wiping the sleep from his eyes, and apologised to Blaine, who just asked why the hell he had fallen asleep in their bed, and that if he missed them that much, he could've just called. Nick chuckled, and then proceeded to tell Blaine about the fight he and Jeff had. Blaine sat down beside him, and let Nick just cry and ask the same questions over and over, wondering why it was so god damn hard to be this way, and why Jeff hadn't asked him to go to California. Blaine said that he wasn't the person to be asking that question to, and that Nick knew what he had to do, and who he had to talk to about all of this. That seemed to perk the boy up a little, and he nodded, thanking Blaine, before promising to never sleep in their bed again, and then joking about showering, to get all the Klaine germs off of him. Kurt just winked from where he had been standing by the doorway, to the bathroom, and hugged Nick, before letting him be alone. Blaine had never seen Niff like this before, but he knew that there was something else going on, underneath everything else, because Jeff wouldn't just transfer to UCLA without reason, and he knows that it's stupid to pry into the lives of all his friends, but something just nags him, and he pulls out his laptop, setting it up on the kitchen table, before logging into the Warblers special website, that David insist they make so they can "keep in touch with one another and keep updated". Blaine pointed out that they have a Facebook Group and Chat Group, but that didn't deter the former council member from making the website. He and Kurt had seen the post that Jeff had made, about being offered a scholarship, and the chance to work with some of the top engineers in his field, if he transferred to UCLA. Kurt had, at first, said that Jeff would never move across the country without Nick, but then they had heard that Jeff hadn't told his boyfriend he was leaving… and Kurt became worried and concerned. He can't blame him, Nick is like a brother to Kurt, and even Blaine is a little pissed that Jeff would do this, but he's going to let Kurt have this one, because it's hard enough between them, what with the distance that is surely going to be between then when Blaine goes on tour.

FLASHBACK

The day/night after Kurt and Blaine's "first-time".

Their first time had been amazing. When Kurt woke in the morning, curled up to Blaine in his childhood bed, the warm arms wrapped around him making him feel safe and loved. Blaine's eyes fluttered open as well, and he smiled when he saw Kurt, pressing a soft kiss to his lips. Want and needs fills his body again, and he can feel his arousal growing. Kurt is about to deepen the kiss, when Blaine's bedroom door bursts open, and his mother enters the room, followed by another man, who isn't Blaine's father, smirking at the two of them. Mrs Anderson doesn't seem to care that they're in bed together, or that they're naked, just smiling at them, saying good morning, and that breakfast will be ready shortly, before calling to the older boy, whose name Kurt found out was Cooper, who at first, just smirked at the two of them, until Blaine threw something at him, and the other boy ran out of the room, pulling the door closed. Noting that Kurt was confused, Blaine explained that that was his older brother, Cooper, who was visiting for a couple of days. Kurt blushed, realising that he had not only been caught by his boyfriend's mother, but also his boyfriend's brother, in the afterglow of their first time. Blaine didn't seem that worried by it, simply returning to kissing Kurt, making the countertenor lose all thoughts, as he lost himself in the kiss, letting his arousal take over, as he pulled Blaine closer to him, crashing their bodies together, still naked, and feeling that they were both aroused, moaned. Blaine moved to kiss Kurt's neck, biting and sucking softly, before moving back down Kurt's torso, and was about to straddle his boyfriend's waist, when his bedroom door burst open again, and Cooper appeared, carrying a bowl of cereal that he was eating, and informing them that breakfast was ready, smirking and winking at both of them, and narrowly avoiding the pillow that Blaine threw at his head. Kurt made to get up at that point, ignoring the groan from Blaine, and moved into the bathroom, albeit slower than usual. Blaine chuckled, mostly because of all the markings on Kurt's porcelain skin, and then stood up himself, realising that it was painful for him too, to which Kurt decided to join in on the chuckling. They showered together for the first time, but it definitely wouldn't be the last…. Unless Burt Hummel found out about this… then it very well could be…. Kurt just kissed him reassuringly when he said this.

Later that night, at the Hudmel house, Kurt and Blaine were sitting on the couch. It was the first time they had been comfortable for the whole day, and even though they didn't regret their first time, (or the second or third… come on, their teenage boys), they now regret the aftermath. Blaine had whispered that after a while, he supposes it won't hurt as much anymore, and Kurt nodded. Neither of them noticed that Finn had been listening to their conversation, and noted that when Blaine stood, or when his brother stood, they were walking a little differently than usual. The first thought that crossed his mind was that they had hurt themselves during something stupid the Twins had done, but then the logic side of his brain kicked in, and he noticed that Kurt was a lot more open with affection, and Blaine's hand was straying a little more south of Kurt's lower back, and he stood up, moved over to where they were talking with Burt and Carole and firmly planted himself in between them, until he got a chance to talk to Kurt and/or Blaine. Both the Warblers looked at Finn, then at each other, Kurt's eyes widened a little, and he sunk back into the chair, wincing a little. This was not missed by Carole, or his father, who was eyeing Blaine inquisitively, whilst the Lead Warbler was looking anywhere but at the adults in front of them. Of course, it had to come out some time. He just thought it would be later… much later than the day after their first time. Of course, they've done it more than once by now, but their first time will always be their first time, and Blaine really doesn't want to be murdered by Burt Hummel. Or Finn. Or heck, even Nick or Santana. But he knew that Burt had figured it out when Kurt winced again, whilst moving in his chair. He was startled by Burt's hand slapping down on to the bench, but managed to maintain his position on the chair, the one that made him wince the least. Finn was smirking at them, but changed his tune when Carole also made him sit and listen to Burt's "Safe sex" talk. Kurt and Blaine looked mortified when he started talking about Finn and Rachel and how that works, but nothing was funnier than the look on Finn's face, during Kurt and Blaine's talk.

'Kurt…'

'Dad, I love Blaine. I made this decision, and I don't regret it,'

'Neither do I sir… Burt,' Blaine replied, taking Kurt's hand, both boys smiling

'Kurt, you're my son and I love you. I just want you to be safe and happy. Blaine… he makes you happy. I just… please be safe. I know it's different for you, there isn't a chance of accidental pregnancy, but still… just be safe,' Burt replied, hugging them both, before nodding at Finn who cringed, and scurried out of the room as fast as he could, Kurt and Blaine just chuckled.

Rachel is straddling his waist as they lie on the couch, making out. They've both lost their shirts, and Rachel is still in her bra and has her jeans on, but Wes has unbuttoned and unzipped them, and she's already pulled his pants off, leaving him in boxers. Wes runs his hands up her thighs, over her arse, and up her back, and is just about to unclasp the strap on her bra, when their front door bursts open, and David appears, shouting that he's here, and ready to party. Wes sits up so fast, he doesn't have time to grab hold of Rachel, and she falls to the floor. David is just smiling, whilst Rachel re-dresses herself, and Wes puts his pants and shirt back on, before asking what David is doing here. Rachel removes herself from the room to cool down a little, and decided to get a little work done on her assignments that are due for NYADA. She's been trying to distract herself from David's visit, and she knows that she doesn't have a very good reputation amongst the Warblers, having been known as the 'screecher from McKinley'. Kurt had let it slip once that that's what the Warblers called her, and whilst she didn't have a care about it back when they were in highschool, she never thought that she would fall in love with Wes, and have to deal constantly with the visiting Warblers, who came to their apartment every other day of the week. She can hear the two boys in the living room, they're talking, loudly, but not as if they want her to hear. David mentions something about missing his best-friend, and wanting to come to New York more often, but also that he misses Ohio, and that he's met someone. Wes goes silent then, and Rachel wonders if there was something between the two. It wouldn't surprise her if Wes was bi, but she wouldn't want to stand in between him and David. She's pretty sure they've been down this road before though. Returning her focus to her assignment, she tries to concentrate on the lyrics in front of her, wanting to be the best she can be for her exam at NYADA.

Wes and David had been silent for all of five minutes, before David asked Wes if he was absolutely sure that he wanted to pursue this thing with Rachel. Wes looked at his best-friend as if he had a horn growing out of his forehead, and then proceeded to tell him about the first time he saw Rachel. David listened, making fake gagging noises, whilst leaving Wes to reminisce over the first moment he laid eyes of the Lead Singer of the New Directions. David knew that he couldn't compete with that, and that he just wanted his best-friend to be happy. Rachel wasn't expecting the knock on her bedroom door, nor for it to be David who entered, and sat on the end of her bed, facing her, whilst she was sitting at her desk. He took her hands, and looked her in the eyes, and told her that if she hurts Wes, she'll have all of the Warblers, including the Twins to deal with. Rachel chuckled, fighting the tears back when David told her that he's rooting for them, then hugged her tightly, and made her promise to never let Wes go. She promised that she was in this for the long haul, and that nothing would make her change her mind, and David promised that he wouldn't keep trying to sabotage their relationship anymore, by barging into the apartment, whilst they're in the middle of sex. Rachel blushed, but chuckled again, and smiled when Wes appeared, and David repeated everything he'd said to her, to him, hugging his best-friend, before stating that he can't stay, he should get back to Ohio, because as hard as it is now, it's going to be harder to have Wes in New York, whilst he's in Westerville. Wes promised they would never lose touch, and David nodded, patting his shoulder, before turning to leave again. He picked up his bag, and turned back once more, to see Wes and Rachel talking softly, but the love in their eyes was evident. No matter his feelings, no matter their status, he was happy that Wes had found love, and that his relationship with Rachel was heating up. Now, he had to return to Ohio and live his life, letting his best-friend go, was going to be hard, but he would be able to live. Well, he hopes that he can anyway, because he wants to be the one standing beside Wes when he finally marries Rachel.

It happened fast. No one expected it. One minute, he was running around the house at all hours of the night, high on life, and energy, and planning the rest of their lives around them, and the next, he's curled up in bed, refusing to get up. Blaine and Nick know immediately what this is, and call Burt and Dr. Zucker. Kurt hasn't been technically diagnosed with bipolar depression, but it was a likely chance that he would have it, considering his mother. It's just unlucky. Like Russian Roulette, with Elizabeth's DNA. Unfortunately, she passed this on to Kurt. Blaine sits with him, until the others arrive, and manages to get him talking a little, but not a lot. He doesn't get up, and it's hard for him to leave the room whilst Dr. Zucker examines his boyfriend. Nick tells Blaine that he can't go through this again, that he can't deal with Kurt being like this again, and Blaine wants to hit him, for being so selfish, but Burt gets to it first, he doesn't hit the boy, but he says that he wishes the same thing, but that hopefully this time, with the medication, Kurt will be better. Blaine hopes that too, but he will be right beside Kurt, no matter what. He promised his boyfriend that he would never leave, that he would always love him, and that ring on his finger, that promise that he would be there, through sickness and health, that means something to him. He's not leaving. No one is going to make him, certainly not Kurt, and if he has to literally pull his boyfriend out of bed to make him get up, then that is what he will do. Dr. Zucker returns to tell them that he's prescribed medication for Kurt, left instructions with them, and made an appointment for him to come and see him. Blaine nods, and then Dr. Zucker tells them that one of them needs to be with him until he perks up, but that it could be days… even weeks. Blaine says that he isn't going anywhere, that this is the love of his life, and he's not giving up on him, and Nick agrees. They take it in shifts. It's almost two months later, but Kurt is up and going to class, (albeit with someone the whole time), getting used to the meds. It's not perfect, but it's better…
