Facing the Future
Chapter 13
*Flashback*
He watched her pace once again, from the couch to the wall and back. Goku sighed, laying his arm on his raised knee, wondering why women had to be so complicated.
"Bulma," he said softly, "It'll be fine. Stop worrying so much. It will all work out."
She suddenly whirled around, practically bouncing up and down.
"But Goku!" Bulma exclaimed, "It has to be perfect! It can't be an off the rack dress….it has to be perfect!"
He pinched the bridge of his nose. "You can get something made, you have the money. And besides," he looked up at his best friend, giving her a little smile, "You'll look beautiful in anything you pick out."
Bulma shook her head as she crossed her arms. "No Goku. I want THE PERFECT dress."
"It's just a party."
"No it's not!" Bulma screeched, "It's the International Capsule Corps Convention! Every investment owner and stock holder will be at this party. From around the world! I have to have the perfect dress! And I know just how to get it!"
Goku stood, a displeased look on his face. "You do not need to waste the dragonballs like that," he stated, holding up a hand when she opened her mouth. "No Bulma. I mean it."
He turned, ignoring the disgruntled and aggravated look on Bulma's face.
Bulma stewed for the rest of the afternoon over her friends' words, before deciding that she was a grown woman, and she could do what she wanted.
She grabbed the remote off the kitchen island, throwing on a jacket before heading outside. She pushed the button, starting the airplane as she jumped in. She flipped her hair over her shoulder, grabbing the handles and lifting off into the sky. I will have my perfect dress! Goku is not the boss of me!
It was dinner time at the Son's house, Goku and Chichi conversing as they ate, while Gohan focused on his food, now and then grazing his eyes over the pages of the book sitting next to him. It didn't take long for them to finish, and Goku was just sitting down on the couch when the phone rang. He didn't get up, figuring Chichi would want to answer it. It was usually for her anyways.
"Goku! Can you get that!"
He got up, grinning at his wife's soapy arms as he came into the kitchen. She scrunched her nose at him, making a laugh burst out. Goku picked up the phone, still chuckling.
"Hello."
There was sobbing on the other line. Goku's brows furrowed in confusion. "Hello?" he said a second time. There was a hitch in the person's voice.
"Goku," Bulma's voice came over the line, wet and really weak.
"What's wrong Bulma," Goku held his breath, swallowing with difficulty. He knew something was really wrong.
"You have to come. It's…..it's Yamcha. Oh God!"
He dropped the phone, bursting out the front door and into the sky before the phone smacked the wall. Chichi stood there staring at the front door for a moment before picking up the receiver.
"Hello," she said hesitantly, knowing whatever caused her husband to take off like that wasn't good.
"…..chichi…."
Her face drained of color as Bulma relayed to her what happened, dropping the phone much like her husband did. She covered her hand with her mouth, a sob escaping. "Oh, no…"
Goku landed outside the building, hurrying in. He hoped it wasn't too late. He was met with a cry and someone throwing themselves against him.
"Hey Bulma," he said gently, patting her back as she sobbed on his shoulder.
"Goku," she whispered brokenly, "Yamcha…"
"Shhh," he tried to sooth her, hugging her as he tried to detect the man's energy. His heart jumped when he couldn't find it.
"What happened?" Goku asked softly, gently pulling his friend away to look at her face.
Bulma messily wiped her eyes and nose, not carrying she was getting it on the dress she was wearing. Her breath caught before she spoke.
"He….he was running late for the dinner," Bulma paused, fighting tears as she tried to keep it together, "Someone ran a red light, and crashed into him. I know he's a strong man, but…."
Goku stayed silent as Bulma regained her composure once more. Her eyes were huge as she gazed up at him.
"They said that there's a slim chance he'll make it."
"Look, everything's going to be okay. Yamcha is strong, so you have noth-"
"Mrs. Bulma Briefs?"
Goku was cut-off by the doctor, watching as his friend walked towards the man, hoping that it was good news. He finally took notice of what she was wearing, and his heart sank. They weren't going to get the chance to use the dragonballs for this one.
His head shot up as Bulma practically screamed. He ran over to her as her knees buckled, and she sank to the floor. She was sobbing loudly now, not caring who saw or who heard. Goku crouched down, laying a hand on her back.
He hesitated for a moment. "….Bulma…."
She continued to cry, finally breathing in hard as she turned her head, her tortured gaze meeting his.
"He's gone."
* End Flashback*
Goku finally washed the rest of the blood off his hands, letting the memory go of why this particular venture was taken. His friend wanted the man she loved back. He sighed, shaking the excess water off his hands as he stood, straightening his shoulders as he looked out at the sky. This wasn't how this was supposed to go….He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. Goku whirled around at the sound of dirt moving. He crouched down a little, ready if something was coming after him. He threw his senses out, only finding a very weak energy. Goku's brows furrowed, slowly straightening back up.
"Who's there?" he called out, his attention going to the small mountain of dirt a few feet from him. A white clothed foot appeared first, followed by the sight of a green skinned child. Goku blinked, a little surprised at seeing such a small namekian around, especially when Frieza was roaming around before.
"Hey," he said softly, slowly crouching into a sitting position, so as not to seem so threatening to the child. "What's your name?"
The young one scrambled back out of sight, not saying anything.
"I'm not going to hurt you, little one," Goku stated in a gently voice, staying crouched down as the namekian child came back into view. The boy studied him for some time before taking another step away from the dirt formation, apprehension apparent on his face. He stopped several feet from Goku.
"Are you the one that killed the white devil?" the namekian boy whispered, his eyes huge as he studied the saiyan.
Goku gave him a soft smile, nodding his head. "But I'm not going to hurt any of you. You have my word."
The boy stared at him for a moment before saying anything. "Then why have you come?"
The smile slid off Goku's face, and his brows furrowed. "I lost a friend, and we needed to come here to bring him back," he stated, wondering how he was going to bring the rest of his friends back as well.
"But your friends just perished," the boy stated, "how would you know they would die before coming here?"
Goku stared at the boy in confusion for a moment before his face cleared. "Oh. No, We all; the others that were with me, lost a friend on my planet. And we came here to bring him back," Goku closed his eyes, "But now they are gone as well."
"I am….sorry for your loss," the little boy said, watching Goku in curiosity before roaming his eyes over him. "Does that hurt?"
Goku looked down at the wounds he had received fighting Frieza, his lips twitching once as he looked up at the namekian boy.
"Yes, they do."
The boy studied him some more before suddenly grinning.
"You have a good heart. You mean no harm to me," he stated, "I can see into your heart."
Goku nodded, surprised at this boys' intuition. "Thank you."
The boy, now with a confident stride, walked up to Goku and laid his hands on the saiyans' massive forearm. "I can heal you."
Goku's eyes widened, his lips parting as the namekians' hands started glowing.
"Wow….." he whispered, watching his wounds disappear and feeling the bones mend.
"That's like a sensu bean," Goku stated softly, still staring in awe at his newly healed body.
The namekian boy shot a confused look at him before deciding to dismiss it. He stepped back once the tall man was healed, taking a deep breath.
He bowed slightly, "By the way, my name's Dende."
Goku shot him a grin, straightening to his full height. "My name's Goku," he stated, shooting his hand out and ignoring the boys' eye widening.
"Whoa," Dende whispered, "You're tall," he stated, finally looking down at the arm stretched out. "What's this?"
Goku blinked at him before a chuckle came out. "Oh, this is how we introduce ourselves on my world."
Dende looked from Goku's stretched out hand to his face. "And what species are you exactly?"
"Oh, well," a hesitant laugh escaped the man, "Well, I thought I was human. But then my brother came and told me I was saiyan, whatever that is. And now I guess I'm a saiyan with earthling manners."
Dende continued to stare at him, blinking once for several seconds.
"Are all of you this….weird?" Dende finally asked, hoping that the man wasn't going to be offended.
A burst of laughter escaped Goku, making Dende jump. The saiyan rubbed the back of his head. "Nope! Just me."
"Huh…" Dende really didn't know what to say. This was the first alien he'd ever met. It was a little…..disappointing. Well, except for the light show earlier.
"Well," he said softly, "I'm glad you beat that bad man for us. He's been killing my people, trying to find the dragonballs."
Dende's eye went huge as he smacked his hands over his mouth. "Oops," he mumbled, taking a step back from Goku.
Goku raised a brow.
"I wasn't supposed to tell you about that," Dende explained, slowly lowering his hands from his mouth.
Goku's lips twitched. "It's okay. I already know about them. That's why we came!"
Dende looked disappointed, taking another step back from him. "So….so what? Were you just going to take them? Like everybody else?"
Goku's eyes widened, and he started shaking his hands. "Noooooo," he stated loudly, "we were going to ask! Honest!"
Dende finally nodded, biting his lip for a moment before waving his hand at Goku. "Come on. We should go talk to my father, Guru."

He wasn't sure what woke him, but his senses immediately took over. Vegeta kept his eyes closed as he surveyed the room, wandering what was different. His brows scrunched a little when he didn't find anything out of the ordinary. He finally cracked his eyes open, staring straight ahead before his brain caught up to the realization that he was in the med room. How the fuck did I get in here! Vegeta scowled, a little puzzled before remembering; he had came in here a few hours ago, checking on his comrad's vitals before sitting against the machine. He must have fallen asleep. Dammit! How the hell could I let my guard down like that! To just….fall asleep here! He stood with a snarl, turning to check the man in the tank. Vegeta stopped short, studying Raditz before pushing a button on the monitor. The only sound in the room was the draining water, before the door finally lifted. Vegeta crossed his arms and scowled at the man stepping out of the tank, his feet making a messy slopping sound as they hit the floor.
"It's about fucking time!" Vegeta snapped, his tail tightening around his waist as Raditz paused in picking up his uniform. The long-haired saiyan looked over his shoulder, his lips pressed into a thin line.
"I didn't ask you to save me," Raditz stated softly, before turning back and grabbing his black uniform and began to pull it on.
A growl emitted from Vegeta's throat. "Don't give me your bullshit, you third class bastard!" He took a step towards the tall man, gritting his teeth.
"You had no right interfering in my fight!" the Prince barked, "It's your own fault you almost died. You would have, if it wasn't for me!"
"And what do you want?" Raditz asked, straightening his uniform as he turned to fully face Vegeta. He donned his armor before speaking once more. "Do you want me to grovel at your feet, thanking you for saving me?"
Raditz shook his head, meeting the Princes' gaze. "That's not going to happen," he stated, standing still as Vegeta walked up to him.
The Prince backhanded him with his fist, his teeth bared in anger. "Don't you dare talk to me like that. I am your Prince! You better show more respect before I kill you!"
"You're welcome, sire for taking the blast that would have killed you. You're welcome, sire for putting you, my prince before myself."
"Don't you dare mock me," Vegeta stated softly, a muscle jumping in his cheek. He went around the taller saiyan, stalking through the doorway.
Vegeta's voice echoed back to Raditz. "We have to find your stupid brother."

Raditz let a low growl out as he followed the prince out of the ship. Neither of them said anything as they took to the air, heading towards where they saw his brother and the lizard tyrant last. There weren't any bursts of power, no booming blasts, and they didn't detect massive powers. Both saiyans furrowed their brows, quietly landing where the Earthling space ship used to be. They overlooked the jumbled pile of wreckage that used to be Zarbon's pod, not even glancing at the body still laying there as they surveyed their surroundings.
"What the hell?" Prince Vegeta murmured as he looked around, scowling deeply when he didn't depict Frieza's presence anywhere. He scanned the vast land before shooting back into the sky, taking off and leaving the long haired saiyan standing among the rubble from their earlier confrontation. Raditz scowled, his face darkening as he scanned his surroundings, trying to pinpoint his brothers' energy. His scouter beeped for a few seconds before it stopped, beeping rapidly. Raditz grunted, lifting into the air slowly. He took another look around, swallowing hard without realizing it as he took in the wreckage below him. The girl flitted through his thoughts, the expression on her face when he had finally taken her from that bastard Zarbon. His fists clenched tightly as a sound emitted from his throat. He looked up, absently gazing towards where his brother's energy was coming from, still thinking about Athea and wondering why he didn't take advantage of the chances when she was alive. Raditz scowled at himself, his lips twisting as he thought of the plenty of chances he had while they were on the ship. But he hadn't wanted to scare her away, a small part of him hoping that at the end of their journey, he would be able to make his move. But she was gone now. Raditz winced at the sharp pain in his chest, letting out a breath before ignoring it. He wanted the girl, wanted her underneath him, moaning his name. But he wouldn't get the chance to slate his lust, to eleviate the burning in his abdomen at the thought of the woman.
"Fuck it," he growled through his teeth, putting the woman firmly out of his thoughts as he blasted towards his brothers' energy. She was dead. There was no reason to dwell on the should-haves' that swirled through his mind.

Goku listened intently to Guru, still in awe at the massive size of the ancient namek. He nodded when the old namekian asked if his intentions were pure.
"I trust that you are ready to make your wishes," Guru asked softly, taking a deep breath before continuing, "Dende will accompany you," he stated, laying a hand on the boys' head. Dende nodded, a pleased expression on his face as he went to stand beside Goku.
"Thank you," Goku said softly, shooting the namekian boy a smile before looking back at the matriarch of their race. Guru breathed deeply again, a small smile appearing on his face as he settled back into his seat.
"Your friends are on their way," the old namekian stated, a cough coming out of him.
Dende shot him a worried look as Goku spoke up. "I'll make sure they don't ruin the wishes."
Guru nodded, quietly watching them as they left. Goku and Dende sped off, the small namekian boy having difficulty keeping up with the large saiyan. Goku let out a chuckle, grabbing the boy and holding him close, much like he used to do Gohan, before speeding up and quickly making it to their destination. He landed, letting Dende down. A chuckle escaped him as the boy weaved across the grass for a moment, murmuring a "whoa" before plopping onto the grass. The boy shook his head, trying to dispel the dizziness caused by flying so fast, before he got back to his feet. They quickly got to work, rolling the dragonballs out of their hiding place and setting them in a circle. They both heaved a sigh before Dende looked back at Goku.
"Are you ready?" he asked softly, watching as determination seeped into the tall man's eyes. Goku nodded, his body tensing as the namekian boy turned towards the balls, holding his hands out. Dende shouted a command in his language, both of them gasping and jumping back as a light shot into the air from the balls, the brightness making them both squint.
"What's your first wish?" Dende asked softly, staring up at awe at the massive dragon above them.
"Bring my friends back, all of them," Goku almost whispered, staring up at the dragon without blinking. Dende hesitated for a moment before nodding. He turned back, stating the wish in loud and firm namekian words.
They both watched the eyes of the dragon glow, before turning back to red. "IT IS DONE."
Goku sucked in a breath, his hands shaking as he felt the faint ki of his son. Of his friend Krillin. Of Bulma. A smile spread across his face for a moment before he realized he didn't feel someone else's.
"Wait," he said softly, stopping Dende from announcing their second wish that they had discussed. The boy glanced over his shoulder in confusion, his lips parted in surprise.
"What's the matter Goku?" Dende asked, swallowing at the troubled expression on his face. The saiyan looked up at the dragon, a muscle ticking in his jaw.
"D-dragon!" Goku stated loudly, swallowing as those red eyes focused on him. "You-you didn't bring everyone back!"
Dende's eyes widened as his head whipped towards the dragon. They both stayed silent as a sound emitted from the dragon, his expression stating that he was concentrating.
"All of your friends have returned. The wish has been fulfilled."
"No, they haven't," Goku stated firmly, his mouth turning down into a frown. "You didn't bring back my friend Athea."
The dragon was quiet before he spoke. "I know not of who you speak," he stated, "Now speak your next wish."
Dende opened his mouth, only to be interrupted once more. "NO! I mean no disrespect," Goku's hand clenched into fists, "But the wish is not fulfilled."
The dragon growled, and they both took a step back. His eyes started glowing for several minutes as they waited with baited breath. The dragon's eyes finally turned to normal. "It is not time yet for the young one to return."
Goku's brows furrowed, and he scratched the back of his head in confusion. "What?" he murmured, his face showing clearly his bewilderment.
"Goku," Dende said hesitantly, hating that the saiyan hadn't gotten all his friends back. "Can we go ahead and make the second wish," he almost whispered, biting his lip as the man glanced at him.
"Y-yeah. Go ahead Dende." Goku absently murmured, glancing back at the dragon. What the hell did that mean? Oh man! Raditz is NOT going to be happy! He swallowed, thinking of his brother and the obvious attraction between the man and his friend, even if they didn't see it themselves. His brother wasn't going to take this news very well.
Goku whirled around at the energy he felt behind him, his face turning into a scowl at the sight of Vegeta behind him, the prince's eyes sparkling with an unholy light. The shorter mans' hands were clenched into fists, his arms shaking with rage. Goku barely heard Dende speaking the second wish as he stepped in between him and the volatile saiyan before him.
"What do you want Vegeta?" he asked firmly, narrowing his eyes as the man glared daggers at him, the coldness in them causing him to shudder.
"You son of a bitch!" The prince snarled, moving before Goku could react. Light burst before his vision as pain exploded throughout his head. The man packed quit a punch. "How dare you! That is my fucking wish you've taken!" Vegeta swung at him again, and Goku caught his fist, squeezing slightly as the man tried to pull away.
"There's more important matters than your selfish wants, Vegeta," Goku stated, a muscle jumping in his jaw as the princes eyes widened for a second before he snarled, attacking the taller saiyan in a flurry of punches and kicks.
Dende quickly got out of the way, thankful that he had already wished all his extended family back to life, those that were killed by Frieza and his henchmen. He felt the connection of his village leader spark back to life, a small smile appearing on his face as he sighed in relief. It had worked! His family was alive again!
"WHAT IS YOUR LAST WISH!"
Both saiyans abruptly stopped, Vegeta pushing the taller saiyan roughly away from him as he looked up at the dragon.
"I want my immortality!"
The dragon stayed silent, causing the prince to snarl in anger. He suddenly reached over and grabbed the namekian child, shaking him roughly.
"Tell him!" the prince shouted at the frightened boy. He angrily threw him towards the dragonballs, a muscle bunching in his jaw. "Now!" Vegeta snapped when the boy hesitated.
Dende stared at him with frightened eyes, before looking behind him at Goku. The man shook his head, his face grim. Dende looked back at the cold eyes glaring at him. "I-I can't."
The murderous expression that darkened the prince's facial features caused Dende to suck in a breath, his blood running cold. He blinked at the bright light blinding him, his heart stopping for a moment before it disappeared. Goku tackled the prince as he raised a hand to blast the namekian boy, pinning him to the ground and doing his best to keep the man there. Just then another unpleasant surprise showed up. Raditz. His brother stared at him holding down the prince, the long-haired saiyans' expression completely devoid of emotion.
"What's going on?"
"Get the fuck off me!" Vegeta tried to whip his arm around, trying to smack the shit out of Kakkarot, but the man just pinned his arm firmly to the ground, the grip making him grind his teeth. "You fucking third class trash! Raditz! Get your defected brother off me!"
Raditz stayed still and quiet for a moment, before turning his attention to the dragon before them. He swallowed, taking a step forward. His tail twitched for a second before settling. "So this is the dragon," he stated thoughtfully, before looking down at the boy in front of the dragonballs.
"Are there any wishes left?" he asked gruffly, watching the hesitation on the boys face as he stayed silent. Raditz smirked, getting his answer.
"Don't you dare! You piece of shit! Don't you dare take my wish! That's an order!"
Raditz ignored Vegeta's yelling and cursing, slowly looking back up at the dragon. What should he wish for? He wanted the immortality as much as his prince. After all, that's the reason they came here. But….he swallowed, narrowing his eyes. What about the woman? Raditz scowled, shoving the thought away. He didn't know if the woman could be wished back, and he didn't want to waste a wish finding out.
"Relay my wish," he snapped at the little boy, ignoring the wince from the namekian as the boy got to his feet.
Vegeta continued to thrash beneath Goku, and Raditz heard his cursing, which almost drowned out his brothers words.
"Raditz, what are you doing?" Goku sounded surprised, almost hopeful. What was the man hoping he wished for? Raditz thought of the woman, of her soft skin, her tempting lips and body, of those green eyes that portrayed every emotion. He let out a snarl, his muscles twitching. No, he seemed to be getting soft, thinking of things a warrior, a Saiyan warrior, shouldn't be. No. He wouldn't resurrect the girl. He thought of something better.
"I want….I wish…" Raditz studied the dragon with an unwavering gaze as he spoke the rest of his wish. "Immortality."
"NO!"
Both men behind him shouted, the princes' voice full of rage and….surprise. Kakkarot's voice was full of sorrow.
Raditz absently heard the boy speaking in his foreign language, before the dragons' eyes glowed for a second. Their eyes widened as the massive lizard started smoking, the grey smoke coming out of his eyes and ears. Their attention turned to Dende as he let out a cry of sorrow, the small boy falling towards the ground.
"What happened?" Raditz snapped, still studying the dragon who was now slowly shrinking. "Am I immortal!?"
Dende cried out once more as the dragonballs turned to stone, the bright light they were emitting just a few seconds before slowly diminishing. A sob escaped the boy.
"What the hell happened!?" Raditz snapped, grabbing the boy off the ground. Dende didn't seem to care that he was shaking him, tears running down his face.
"Guru's dead."
Raditz stopped his actions, his brows furrowing in confusion before turning at the gasp that came from behind him. His brother's eyes were wide and full of sadness. "No," he heard him whisper, letting out a snarl as he dumped the boy back on the ground.
The prince took that opportunity to violently shove Kakkarot off him, his face dark with murderous rage. His dark eyes flashed as if they were lit with the coals of hell. He didn't say a word as he launched himself at Raditz, tackling him in a blinding rage as they both started fighting viciously. Goku grabbed Dende, taking off towards his friends ki and leaving the two fighting saiyans behind.
Goku was still in shock. He couldn't believe how….selfish his brother was. He thought for sure that, due to the way Raditz had acted towards Athea, that he was going to wish her back. It was like a punch to the gut when Raditz uttered those words, not seeming to care if the woman stayed dead. Goku swallowed passed the lump in his throat, finally reaching the site his friends where last alive. He took a deep breath as he sat Dende down, looking around. His face broke into a grin as he was suddenly tackled to the ground, arms and legs flailing around him, going around his waist and neck. Goku let a relieved laugh out, feeling the tears threatening to slip from his eyes as he opened them. Smiling, he hugged his son and friends back, taking a deep breath.
They immediately noticed his sad smile, their identical expressions of happiness slowly melting away at the pain in his eyes.
"Goku," Bulma said hesitantly, laying a hand on his arm.
"I'm sorry," Goku said, letting out a sigh. "Just, it's…..I found out what my brother truly is."
They all looked at each other before looking back at that tall man. "What are you talking about bro?" Krillin asked, not liking the dimness in his friends eyes.
"He had a chance to…" Goku fell quiet, shaking his head. "It doesn't matter. What matters is that I have all you back, and-"
"Goku," Bulma suddenly cut him off, looking around. "Where's Athea?"
The tall saiyan stayed quiet, letting his head fall forward. "The dragon," he paused for a moment, taking a breath. "He said that she couldn't come back yet."
"What?"
"Why?"
"That doesn't make any sense!"
Goku just shook his head, his face darkening for a moment at the selfishness of his brother, before his face cleared. He looked into the worried eyes of his friends and family, giving them a soft smile.
"Let's go home."

Raditz and Vegeta separated once more in a volatile burst of energy. The prince growled at him, his canines showing. Raditz just made his anger worse as he smirked, running his tongue over his teeth. Vegeta let out a roar of outrage, at the seemingly mocking saiyan in front of him. First the bastard reached a whole new level of power before him, now this. Vegeta shot forward, bashing his forehead against the saiyans' nose, listening to the satisfying crunch as it broke. He watched dispassionately as blood flowed freely, soaking the long-haired saiyans' uniform. Vegeta's smirk darkened.
"Well," he chuckled in satisfaction, "I guess you didn't get your wish, you bastard!"
Raditz growled, a crack breaking the silence as he set his nose back into place. He wiped the blood from his hand onto his chest plate, getting back into stance as Vegeta prepared to attack him once more.
They both froze as they saw their ship lifting into the air. They both took off, neither speaking as they came abreast of the massive cock-pit window. The prince bared his teeth in anger, ignoring the ashen faces of those inside. He took a remote out of his armor, pushing a button. He smirked as the faces inside stared at him in shock, their eyes round. His ship landed safely back onto the ground, the boarding ramp slowly descending as he pushed another button. He started up it, only pausing for a second when Kakkarot appeared. They stared at each other before the taller saiyans' head snapped back. Vegeta snarled at him as he passed, not caring about the growl the man shot at him. He made his way towards the cockpit, knowing that he was going to enjoy this.
Goku rubbed his jaw as he glared at the retreating prince. A growl emitted from his throat before he looked outside once more. His brother was at the bottom of the ramp, an amused smirk on his face. Goku felt his face darken.
"You're not coming with us," he stated firmly, his mouth pressing into a thin line as his brother started up the ramp.
Raditz snorted. "As if you could stop me," he sneered, brushing past Goku and going into the ship. "This isn't your ship anyways, dear brother," Raditz mocked before disappearing around the corner.
After a moment, Goku followed them, entering the main part of the ship. He could hear the arguing before he even entered the control room.
"This is my ship, you little harpy! Now leave before I kill you. And I won't regret it," The prince finished softly, ignoring the hurt that flitted over the woman's face and stepping to the control panel. He started pushing buttons, not saying another word.
Raditz snorted in amusement, earning a growl from behind him. He lifted a brow at his brother, Kakkarot actually looking more saiyan than he's seen him with the pissed expression on his face.
"Neither of you have a right to talk to my friends like that! Especially you Raditz," Goku almost sneered, not thinking twice about the way he was acting towards the man. What his brother did with the dragonballs was still too fresh in his mind to stay civil.
"Goku," Bulma said hesitantly. Honestly, the expression on his face was making her uncomfortable. "What did your brother do?"
They all looked from Goku's unusual pissed expression, to Raditz, who was smirking back at him. "What's the matter brother," Raditz taunted, "Everything not made of sunshine and rainbows like you thought?"
A deep growl emitted from Goku's throat, causing his friends to gape at him.
"D-dad?" Gohan said hesitantly, eyeing his father warily. He'd never seen his father like this….well, except for when he'd been kidnapped.
"Raditz made a wish," Goku finally stated, the disdain in his voice apparent.
"What? For what? A-about Athea—"
Goku firmly shook his head, cutting off their questions. "His wish was purely selfish," he stated, looking away and glaring at the wall. "He wished for immortality."
There were gasps around the room. "Oh, no!" Bulma exclaimed, eyeing Goku's brother warily. She swallowed. "Did….did it work?"
There a pregnant pause. "No."
"Well, Goku…" Bulma hesitated for a moment. "If it didn't work, why are you so upset."
Goku slowly turned his head, studying his blue-haired friend before meeting his brothers' gaze.
"Because he's a selfish bastard."

A/N: You all hate me now don't you!
