Innocence Lost

Chapter 1

August 2nd, 1985- Little Whinging, Surrey (Mid Morning)

Hadrian James Potter or as he knew himself as "Boy" or "Freak" was spending his morning like normal, cooking breakfast for his "loving" family. He had just turned five two days ago but he did not quite know that. The boy quickly worked on frying the bacon and eggs and making the toast the best he could trying not to burn it. He had been cooking for a year now and he did not want another painful punishment of his hand going into the fryer for burning the food. He had just set down the plates heaped with food and glasses of orange juice as he heard his family thundering around upstairs. He quickly took one slice of bread, as that was his allowed breakfast and quickly made his way back into his cupboard knowing that his Uncle would be less than pleased to see him.

Little Harry sat silently in his cupboard quickly eating the piece of bread and watching one of the many spiders make their web. Today felt like a normal day for Harry, but he did not know that today everything would be changed. He sat quietly waiting for when his uncle would leave and then his aunt would come get him to start his chores. He knew it would be about an hour of sitting quietly in his cupboard before then, so he busied himself with one of the books he had stolen from Dudley.

As Harry was reading inside of his cupboard a severe yet regal looking woman who was walking with a younger man who looked just as regal down the street of Privet Drive. Both had sneers on their face at the blandness of the neighborhood and both were drawing stares. Both individuals were finely dressed and though it was a well to do neighborhood the clothing they were outclassed anything the residents of Little Whinging could afford. Soon enough both individuals stopped in front of Number Four a dark look on the woman's face. She turned to look at her companion, "This is the place Regulus?"

The man looked at the woman before turning back at the boring house, "Yes mother, from my resources this is the place."

"Well then, let us retrieve our charge. He shouldn't be stuck with such filth, it is unbecoming of a Pureblood and the fact that he has been here so long already." The woman shuddered in revulsion before a perfectly neutral expression passed on both hers and her son's face.

Both residents walked through the wards, the woman sneering at the inadequacy of them before stopping at the door her son joining her and he rose his fist and knocked. A few minutes later the most hideous woman the older woman had ever seen stood at the door. The ugly woman gave them both a once over, her eyes widening at the clothes they both bore and the fact they both had an air about them that oozed wealth, "Hello, how may I help you?"

The older woman held back what she wanted to say to this filthy muggle and forced a smile on her face, "Are you Mrs. Dursley by chance?"

Mrs. Dursley looked closely at the other woman, "Yes, I am, is there something I can do for you."

"Yes, Madam, I believe you can," the man said smoothly a bored tone to his voice.

The blonde turned to look at him a slight recognition before her face became sour, "You! What are you doing here!?" She shrieked out.

The man sneered at her, "I beg your pardon? I have never seen you before and yet you start shrieking at me?"

Mrs. Dursley glared at him, "You have the nerve! You ruined things for me and you show up here."

Lady Black's patience was now at its final thread and she swiftly pulled out her wand pointing it at the muggle woman a look of loathing on her face as she said primly, "Mrs. Dursley believe me, neither one of us," she then made a show of looking the woman up and down before darting her eyes around the property and sneered, "want to sully ourselves with your presence but you see I have to retrieve something or I should say someone that you have that belongs to my family."

Petunia's eyes widened in fear and she quickly stood aside, "I take it you want the boy. You can have him. He's in the cupboard under the stairs. Take him and go we didn't want him from the get go."

The woman's eyes widened in that declaration and she quickly hurried to the aforementioned cupboard and opened it finding a small child huddled inside looking at her with wide eyes. She smiled sadly at the child in there and spoke softly ignoring the shouting of her son behind her, "Hush child, I'm not here to hurt you I am here to take you away to a better home than this."

The boy looked at her with bright teary green eyes, "You taking me way?"

She made a note to herself to fix his speech pattern before nodding, "Yes Hadrian, my son and I are going to take you home with us. You weren't supposed to live with these people. Come now."

Harry slowly moved towards her like a scared animal once he was close she pulled him towards her and she noted the flinch. Anger clouded her eyes, yes, she could say she wasn't the best mother and she was harsh on her children, she though had never laid her hands on them in such a way. The most she had ever done was slap Sirius once. She knew she was considered a harsh and unkind woman but to harm a child to this extent, she crushed down the rage and slowly stood carrying Harry with her. She saw her youngest son look at her, his eyes widened in shock at the state of the small child and he turned again glaring at the muggle woman his wand focused on her, "Regulus, now is not the time. Leave this filth we will have them pay their dues another day." She then turned her wand on the woman focusing it on her, "Obliviate." With that said both man and woman walked from the house going down the road until the came to an empty alley where they called upon a triple decker bus and vanished.

August 2nd, 1985- Little Whinging, Surrey (Evening)

Petunia and Vernon Dursley currently found themselves sitting happily on their sofa in their sitting room, enjoying a glass of wine. Their perfect little Dudley sat enamored by the movie they were watching on the telly. Both older Dursleys were elated, they no longer had to worry about their bothersome nephew and his freakishness. They were brought out of their silent celebrations with a nock on the door. Vernon slowly stood, his excess weight giving him a slight hinderance, as he went to get the door. Petunia focused down on her son who was starting to look a bit drowsy. Smiling fondly she began to play with his hair, while her husband saw to their guest.

She jolted slightly at the sound of her husband's angry voice, "What are you doing back here!? We already gave you the little abomination."

She heard a smooth voice respond as she slowly stood pulling her son behind her, "Now, now, Mister Dursley. Is that any way to speak to a guest?"

"Guest!? GUEST!? I don't want anything to do with any of you FREAKS! We gave you the boy and there is nothing left to discuss."

"On the contrary, there is a lot of things to discuss."

"What are you doing!? GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!"

Fear flashed in the woman's eyes as the younger man from earlier casually strolled into her living room and proceeded to sit down on one of the armchairs. Her husband hurriedly waddling behind him, his face purple in rage, "NOW LISTEN HERE! I DIDN'T INVITE YOU IN HERE! YOU NEED TO LEAVE!"

A sinister smile crossed the mans face, "Are all muggles," he spit out the word muggle like it was a piece of dirt, "as hospitable as you? If they are it is leaving quite the bad impression I must say."

Petunia sensing the danger as it was cleared her voice and spoke drawing her husband's attention to her, "Vernon, perhaps we shall see what he wants." Furious eyes were now on her, "Please Vernon."

The obese man let out a huff and sat down on the couch glaring at the uninvited guest, "What is it you want? Hurry up so you can leave."

The sinister smile never left the mans face, "Now, now muggle. Not even offering a spot of tea. The manners are quite appalling."

Petunia quickly put her hand on her husband's arm to stall him from going into another angry rant. All of her instincts were screaming at her that this man was dangerous, and she did not want to insult him further than he already was. She grabbed Dudley's hand pulling her with him, "I'll go get us a spot of tea and we can talk, Mister Black. Just give me one moment."

The man's eyes held some amusement and she knew he was most likely mocking her fear. She swallowed, knowing full well that against a fully trained wizard, her and her family held little hope. She pulled a surprisingly subdued Dudley with her and stopped by the stairs, "Diddums, go to bed for Mummy. I will be up after our guest leaves."

She gently placed a kiss on his head and he stomped up the stairs. She was glad he gave little fuss, but she knew he probably sensed her worry and because of that was being amicable. Her son truly was precious and a blessing unlike her nephew. Shaking her head, she quickly hurried to the kitchen, not wanting to keep their visitor waiting, especially with her temperamental husband. She quickly set the kettle on and grab her favorite set of china, even though the freak didn't deserve such a thing, she didn't want to insult the obvious danger and instead decided to behave amicably.

Soon enough the kettle whistled, and she quickly set up the tea on a tray. She hurried back into the sitting room where her purple faced husband was glaring at the man across from him while the man had a pleased smirk on his face. She set the tray down onto their table and quickly bustled about making hers and Vernon's tea to their liking before looking questionably at the man, "Just a splash of milk."

She shakily handed him his tea and sat down next to the man she had settled for and looked at him. Still smirking he took his time taking a sip before setting the cup back onto the saucer and setting it down. The smirk slowly changed into a truly malicious smile and she felt her heart plummet and grabbed onto her husband's hand. She knew that he could sense her fear as he pulled out a long stick from his sleeve as he slowly stood, gracefully, a true predator going in for the kill. He tapped the wood onto his palm as he stared at them both and Petunia continued to clench onto Vernon's hand and she felt her husband squeezing back in what she knew was just as much fear as her.

The man stalked forward till her was right in front of them, his blue-gray eyes alight with such anger and hatred. The cruel smile on his face, "Now, since of course you are both high profile. I cannot kill you sadly. Though death is what you deserve for what you did to that poor little boy. There is though, so much more I can do, and I do indeed plan to do it. You see you both will be only fit for an insane asylum when I'm done with you. You won't even remember this visit."

Petunia's heart clenched as that stick of wood, which she knew was a wand, leveled itself on her. A word she didn't understand was spoken before she was engulfed in a blinding red light. After that all she knew was pain. She heard the background of Vernon's screams of alarm before after what felt like hours her mind blissfully snapped. It's inability to handle such pain for so long and she gladly followed it into the blissful unawareness. Soon though the pain stopped, and she heard the fat man beside her start to scream. Eventually the handsome man in front of her held his stick, what an odd thing to carry, in front of her and a silvery mist shot out of it and she remembered nothing.

The next day the bobbies were seen outside of the immaculate lawn of Number Four, Privet Drive. Carting a woman covered in blood out of the house. The woman was completely mental, and the corpse of her husband was in a body bag. One of the men were carrying a wailing child, having witnessed his mother stabbing the man repeatedly, the only witness to the crime within.

December 20th, 1990- Grimmauld Place, London

Hadrian James Potter sat quietly in the Black Sitting Room. Today he would be meeting with his betrothed, a man 16 years his senior, but for the wizarding world that was not an uncommon thing. He knew at the age of 18 once he was fully considered an adult he would be marrying the man as was custom. At the age of 5 his whole world was turned around for the better. His Grandmother Walburga and Uncle Regulus had rescued him from muggles that were not truly his family. When he had arrived, he had met his Uncle Sirius, who was unable to claim him due to him being falsely imprisoned, until his mother and brother had fought for a trial and proving his innocence.

The three adults had then helped raise him. He had never met his Grandfather Orion due to him passing a year before. With the tutelage of his two uncles and his pseudo grandmother he had learned how to be a proper pureblood heir. They had done extensive medical treatment due to the hands of the muggles he was severely malnourished and had a few burns and lash marks to be healed. They also took care of all of his inoculations and had found out he carried the bearer gene making it to where he would play the submissive role in the relationship. Throughout his five years with the Blacks he had learned a lot and had grown up in a house that had more love for him than the one he had come from.

His Uncle Sirius loved to tell him stories of his parents and their achievements and taught him all kinds of pranks which made his Grandmother angry. His Uncle Sirius and his Grandmother did tend to shout at each other an awful lot. His Uncle Regulus made sure to teach him the foundations for magic while his Grandmother focused on Wizarding Customs and what was expected of him once he was married. All in all, he at this point in time was a well-rounded child who knew what the world was going to expect of him.

He pulled from his musing at the sounds of footsteps that were drawing closer to the drawing room. He stood up smiling happily when a group of people entered. His Grandmother was first followed by his Uncles, Sirius looking slightly contrite, and two men and a woman close behind them. His grandmother and Uncles sat down the man and woman who were obviously together sat on a loveseat next to them and the other man walked over to him picking him up and ruffling his hair making it stand on end more than the mess that was normal.

The man sat down smiling at him fondly, "Hello Hadrian, how are you doing this evening excited for Christmas."

Harry sat down happily and nodded excitedly but quickly stopped at his grandmother clearing her throat, "Yes, Rabastan, I can't wait. How are you? Anything exciting you can say about the Department of Mysteries."

The man gave a wry smile than leaned in closer whispering, "Well I'm not supposed to say anything, but we found the strangest creature a couple weeks ago."

Harry's eyes lit up with delight, "Really? What is it?"

The man leaned back and winked at him, "That, I cannot tell you just yet."

The boy proceeded to pout as the man laughed and Walburga glared, "Between you and Sirius you both are going to corrupt the boy."

Sirius proceeded to pout and shot a hurt look towards his mother before batting his eyelashes at her, "I do not know what you are talking about Mother Dear, I would never corrupt anybody."

Instead of answering the woman shot a stinging hex at her son earning a loud yelp and the man's silence as he sulked. Harry turned his focus back to Rabastan as he told him all kinds of stories of things he "wasn't supposed to say." Followed up with Harry letting him know how his studies were progressing and how he was doing. Soon enough the family left leaving the Blacks to their devices and Walburga ushered their young charge off to bed smiling to herself. Of course, there wasn't sexual attraction between the two betrothed yet, because of course Harry was too young but she was happy that the man was trying to at least know the boy. Over all she felt it was the perfect match.

December 23rd, 1990- Lestrange Manor

Rabastan brushed the traces of ashes and soot off himself before making his way to the dining room to partake in breakfast. His brother and sister-in-law were already both seated sipping on tea and eating the food laid out before them. His brother looked up at him smirking, "Welcome back little brother. Did you have fun with your latest conquest last night?"

Rabastan let out a snort as he took his seat, "Don't be so vulgar Rudo, its unbecoming."

The woman let out a cackle, "You are the one to talk about things that are unbecoming, dear brother-in-law of mine."

He shot a glare towards the woman, "Bella, you are the last person I would take advice from."

The woman pouted and twirled a finger around one of her long dark locks of hair, "Come now Rabby, I think I have much wisdom I could share with you."

His brother let out a snort, "Bella dear, while you are indeed talented, I do not think you are the best verdict in things that are considered inappropriate or not." He then winked at the woman causing a flush to spread on her cheeks.

Rabastan let out a laugh, "You know we only jest Bella." He then let out a wince as she whipped out her wand and shot a stinging hex at him.

"Come now children, no wands at the dinner table." Both shot the smirking older man a glare who then returned his focus on his younger brother, "So Rabastan, I know that there has been something on your mind as of late especially given the number of affairs you have been partaking in."

Rabastan flushed, "I don't think the number of affairs I have has much account on anything, brother. I am being discrete and taking all the precautions, so it should not matter."

Bella let out another cackling like laugh, "What would your betrothed think about you whoring yourself around like some cheap whore in Knockturne Alley."

"What my betrothed may or may not think is irreverent at this point in time, Bella. After all he is still a child, is he not? He won't be the one warming my bed for years to come."

The woman cackled again, "Come now Rabby, you can't keep yourself pure for your little consort to be."

At that Rudolphus let out a snort, "The day that Rabastan is pure is the day I will gladly see."

Flushing the man glared at his two companions he stood up, "As riveting as this conversation is, I do not wish to talk about such matters. If I choose to partake in enjoyment outside of my betrothal that is my own choice. There is no such clause in the contract that says I cannot and after all I am a man and if you have forgotten I highly doubt Hadrian would be interested in any sexual activities till he is much older, and I have no desire to bed a child."

"Come now brother you know we only jest. No one expects that of you and if you were to even contemplate that there probably wouldn't be a you left."

"No there wouldn't be," the woman said with a suddenly sharp look, "after all if you were to even contemplate such a thing I don't think my cousins would leave much of you to find and what is left I would gladly dispose of."

The standing man gave both a haughty look, "I am glad you understand my predicament then and realize I have no desire of such things with a child no less. If you excuse me I have things that have need to be done."

"Rabastan sit down you haven't eaten. Again, it is only in jest. There is something though so talk, I can't have you going around the manor brooding again, it is quite annoying."

The man sat down giving his brother a glare, "Alright, now that you are wanting to actually be serious and on matters that are important."

"Well, Rabby, what is so important that has you in the state you are currently in." The woman got a shark like grin, "It must be very interesting indeed if it has you this way and I think I will find it quite amusing."

He glared at the woman and Rudolphos shot her a look, "Bella, don't start a fight."

The woman sat back giving her husband a dejected look and proceeded to pout and Rabastan decided to spill the news he had found out a couple days ago. "I fear that Hogwarts will not be safe."

The woman let out another cackle, "Ohhh so you are worried about your ickle betrothed then."

He glared at the woman once more, "My sources within the school state that Dumbledore has been rather odd as of late. I think he might try something this next upcoming school year, though we don't have enough yet to throw the man out."

"Well, I know that Regulus had mentioned something about Hadrian possibly being sent to Durmstrang instead."

"Yes, they had discussed it. Though, it was decided they would send him to Hogwarts regardless." He balled his hand in a fist. Even though his betrothed was a child still, he did not want to see him come to any harm the kid had grown on him with his adoration of the tales he would spin for his entertainment. "I just worry what the illustrious headmaster may try to do."

"Well, Rabby," the woman sang, "I do think if he were to try, we would then have enough on him to finally get him out of the way. After all when our Lord returns it would be one less obstacle for him."

"I worry about that too, after all the Dark Lord did try to kill him."

A rabid look crossed the woman's face, "Are you implying that you will turn on the Dark Lord."

The man let out a sigh, "I did not say that Bella, but the fact of the matter is he indeed tried to kill him. The questioning is why. The last I knew he tried to recruit the Potters and deemed them not a threat when they swore neutrality instead."

Rodolphus chose that time to speak, "That is something we do not know. Though when he does return, Hadrian is being raised with our beliefs. I do not think the Dark Lord will see him as a threat at that point in time, especially since he is to be a consort one of his favored."

"I hope you are right Rudo."

January 5th, 1991- Hogwarts Castle

Albus Dumbledore sat pensively at his desk. How everything could have gone so wrong over the years he wasn't sure. It all stemmed from the Potters, letting that baby live all those years ago was the gravest mistake he had ever made. He should have snuffed her out when he had the chance. Now his popularity was slowly falling and most of it came from the Blacks. He could not outright attack the family because that would paint an even bigger target on himself due to it being as prestigious as it was. He would have to wait until the Potter Child was back in his grasp.

That faithful Halloween night he had miscalculated severely. When he had taken control of Thomas Riddle he had hoped to off the entire family he was not expecting Lily to use some form of obscure magic to protect her son. Because of that the boy survived so he carted him off to his relatives and managed to get the boys godfather thrown in jail. He did not expect Sirius' mother to have had a change of heart regarding her son and overturn everything freeing him once more. Then going from there and claiming the Potter boy as part of the Black Family.

The boy was then pulled completely from his grasp and he had no chance of using his fame to help rally his cause. Also, due to falsely imprisoning Sirius Black it caused him to lose not only his Chief Warlock of the Wizagmont Seat but also his Supreme Mugwump Seat on the ICW as well. He sneered at the memory they had declared he had too much responsibility and that he should just focus on running the school. Even that though he was being closely watched by Lord Malfoy and he had the worry that he would soon be losing this bit of power as well. He then looked down at the list of names in front of him an evil smirk alighting his face, it would all change though, the Potter boy would soon be in his domain and it would be rather unfortunate if he were to have a deadly accident.
