After about 2 hours of writing, Nick was starting to get a severe cramp in his paw. However during the two hour writing session, he believed he had come up with a perfect plan for Judy to tell him her feelings. Nick decided that it was best that he tread carefully. Nick didn't want his plan to backfire.
Nick had formulated that if he continued with his relationship with his current girlfriend, than that would put him and Judy's friendship at the risk of them breaking apart, a thought he refused to think of. He could tell how much this was eating away at Judy He was kinda angry and disappointing that Judy had not told him of her feelings. But at the same time was glad that she hadn't, he wouldn't of handled it pretty well. Nick thought as to how cute Judy was and reflected on how his friendship with Judy had grown. Nick was surprised on how much had changed in the past year, How he had gone from being a shady fox, to being a officer of the law. He was so glad he had met Judy and that he was able to get his life turned around. Nick didn't want to think what had happened if he hadn't met Judy.
Nick looked at the clock, it was around Noon. His stomach growled and he decided that he should get something to eat. All this thinking and planning was tiring work and he was in the mood for some good food. He felt like a vegan hamburger topped with crickets was in order. Nick pulled up a number on his phone and twenty minutes later, a nice hot cricket burger arrived at his doorstep.
After paying the delivery mammal, Nick retreated to the comfort of his couch. Nick ate while he contemplated on what would be the best method of breaking up with his current and soon to be ex-girlfriend. On one hand, Nick could just flat out dump her. On the other he could maybe get her to break up with him. However, there were some problems with his current plan.
For starters, Nick knew personally what it felt like to be treated like trash and to have his hopes crushed. Nick knew that he didn't want to put his girlfriend through that. Nick wanted to either break it off easy, or to have her break it off. Nick didn't want to come out being portrayed as the bad guy. The only problem was that Nick getting his girlfriend to break up with him was going to be a long shot. His girlfriend Tatum seemed very happy and seemed like she was very determined to the relationship.
Suddenly Nick's phone rang...
Nick grabbed his phone and realized it was Tatum calling.
"Hello?" Nick asked into the phone
"Nick? Is everything okay? Are you alright?" Tatum replied. Nick could feel the concern in her voice.
"Yes everything is okay, umm, Im sorry that I had cancel with you this morning, I had an emergency that I had to take care of. "
"Oh... Well I hope everything is okay!" Tatum replied.
"Hey Nickkk?"
"Yes Tatum, what is it?"
"If your not busy, can we have dinner tomorrow night at my place?"
"Why sure, I would love too, what time should I swing by?"
"Stop by around 7:30 and I'll have dinner ready for us too eat."
"Okay, Ill see you then."
"Okay see you then" and then she hung up.
Well Nick, that was easy. Now all I got to do is get her to break up with me. Nick said to himself, in his empty apartment.
Nick's Plan consisted of two things, Breaking up with his current girlfriend, and to get Judy to admit her feelings towards him.
The first part was going to be a whole lot easier than the second.
"How do I even know this will work?" He said out loud to no-one.
Nick's original goal was to bring the carrot pen and call her out on it tomorrow. Yes it sounded stupid but that was the best he could come up with. His worst fear however was that she would deny it and play it off. However he didn't see other option.
"No, I got to play it cool, and bring it on slowly, give her no option but to tell me the truth." Nick thought to himself. Nick hoped that tomorrow was going to be a good day. He wanted to break the news of him "getting his heart broke" to Judy and to try to get a reaction out of her. It was settled. Nick's plan was going to work, it had to work.
Nick woke up the next morning and got ready for work. Around 7:45, a certain rabbit knocked at his door.
"Nick you ready yet?" Judy asked.
"Yes Carrots, I'm coming" Nick replied, happy to hear her voice.
Nick finished getting ready and met Judy at the door.
"How did you know I was still home?" Nick asked
"I didn't, I was just wondering if you wanted to walk to work together?" Judy asked, looking at her feet avoiding Nicks gaze.
"Walk to work together? Why yes I would love to do that." Nick replied smiling
Nick really wished he had a camera, because the look on Judy's face after he said that was worth a thousand words.
Nick was quickly engulfed in a hug, which he so gladly returned. Nick thought of just confronting Judy right now, but he knew that right now wasn't a good time. Both needed to get going if they didn't want to be late for work, and face an angry Bogo. Just as quickly as Judy had hugged Nick, she broke away and started down the street, Nick followed suit.
Nick and Judy walked to work in almost complete silence. That was until Judy broke the silence. "Nick, I just wanted to apologize, for how I've been acting lately. I've just been going through some stuff and I took it out on you."
"Only if you forgive me, I'm really sorry if you thought I was ignoring you or blowing you off " Nick replied.
"So..." Judy asked, not sure of the best way to ask her question. "Umm, Nick? Do you have a girlfriend?"
Nick was quite frankly blown away at the question. He wasn't Judy expecting to ask.
"Yes I do, her name is Tatum" He paused before continuing, "I've been seeing her for about a week."
Judy was fighting back tears. "I can't believe its true." Judy thought, "No, I can't let Nick see me like this."
"So what is she like?" Judy asked sadly, looking at her feet.
"Oh she isn't as emotional or as cute as you" Nick smirked as Judy smiled and playfully smacked his arm
"Did Nick Just call me cute!?" Judy thought as she was fighting a incoming blush.
"She's about my age and shes pretty nice." Nick continued. "Like I said we have only been dating for about a week. I don't even know if shes the right one or not."
"Well don't foxes usually have only one mate for life?" Judy asked, afraid of the answer.
"Well, usually. We date and stuff, but we usually know when we find the right partner." Nick exclaimed.
Nick and Judy were so deep in conversation, they realized that they had just arrived at the station.
"Well lets get in there before Chief Buffalo Butt goes savage." Nick said as he changed the subject and Him and Judy went to roll call.
Nick and Judy spent a boring day together doing their patrol. Judy was just happy to be around Nick. "I can't think this way about Nick, he has a girlfriend." Judy kept telling herself. However Judy was finding it extremely difficult to take her own advice. Judy loved all of Nick's features. How soft his fur was, how Nice it was to hear his voice. Judy was finding it very hard not to think her feelings. "You should tell him your feelings!" Her Mind said to her. "That would be perfect, Until I would destroy our friendship. Then I would be truly alone" Judy fired back."You don't know that.""Yes I do, he wouldn't be dating someone if he did like me like that" Judy roared back. Judy's thoughts were soon interrupted.
"Carrots?" Nick asked. "Hello? Earth to Carrots?"
"Huh" Judy said as she didn't realize that Nick was trying to talk to her.
"Carrots you were staring off into deep space, is everything alright?" Nick asked concernedly.
Judy wanted to lie to him, to tell him that everything is okay. But she couldn't take it anymore.
"No Nick, everything is not okay." Judy breathed out
"Well whats on your mind?" Nick replied as he put his phone down, fully diverting his attention to her.
"I don't know, I Just feel like i'm all alone. "
"All alone? Carrots you got to be kidding me."
"No Nick, I mean you found someone that makes you happy, I just hope that I find that special someone." Judy was shaking.
It was at that moment that Nick almost lost his self control, there was nothing he wanted more to do was to confess his feelings towards her. But over the years, Nick had learned when to speak and when to hold his tongue and that training had payed off. Nick fought himself from confronting Judy about her feelings towards him. But he knew now was not the time, nor the place. Nick knew that Judy was really upset and this was really bothering her. Just hang in there for another day Judy. Nick silently begged to himself. Nick saw the perfect opportunity.
"Judy. Listen to me, You are the most annoying, cute, honest, hardest-working, stubborn, emotional, smartest, and nicest mammal I have ever met".
Judy was in complete shock, she couldn't believe all the nice things Nick had just said about her. Her heart did a little pitter patter in her chest. Sometimes Nick could be the most annoying fox in the world. But there were times when he could be the nicest mammal around. This was one of these times, and it was the one's the Judy treasured the most, the times when she got to see the better and sweeter side of Nick, the side of Nick she had fallen for, hard.
"Nickkk, that the sweetest thing you have ever said to me" Judy said as she pulled Nick into a hug. To her surprise, Nick hugged her back, hard. "I sure hopeee I meet someone as nice as you." came the muffled reply.
Nick just couldn't resist."Oh I have a feeling you will, trust me."
Nick and Judy broke the warming embrace and returned to their respective seats in the police cruiser. Nick just happened to look at his watch and he almost yelped!
"Our shift ended 30 minutes ago."
"Why would you look at that." Judy replied looking at her watch. She couldn't believe that the day had flown right by her. Of course she had spent the entire day right next to her dreamy fox. "Did I just call him dreamy?" Judy was kind of bummed that her shift was over, because that meant her time with Nick for the day was over. As Judy and Nick were driving to the station, Judy's Mind was racing at the thought of a crazy idea.
"Hey Nick?"
"Yes?"
"Umm, I was wondering if maybe you would still be free to hang out once we get back to the station?"
Judy's expression changed when Nick answered her
"Sorry Carrots, as much as I would love too, my girlfriend already asked me to dinner tonight and I said Yes.
Judy decided to play it cool, "It's no problem, I figured you were busy anyways.", Nick and Judy arrived back to the ZPD about ten minutes later.
"Well Nick, I'll see you tomorrow okay."
"Okay Carrots, have a good night and Ill see you tomorrow.
