What?! A new chapter? I'm back! Also I had several chapter on an old computer that died. I am trying to remember what I had going on. I think I had Hot Rod get drunk and "kidnap" a sleeping Sarah for a bit and something about a new paint job but then I was like, forget it, I'll just make a new story.
******************************Hologram deck***************************
Hot Rod couldn't help but feel bitter disappointment at the all sparks choice of companions. He was so sure, being the first ever autobot brought back to life, that the all spark would have picked him. Bee was an amazing scout but Hot Rod was a right on the front lines kinda bot. He just felt that he was better than Bee, but…the choice had been made.
Daniel would have loved that speech about having fun and she was about the same age as him so why has she chosen Bee? Hot Rod had only know her for a short time but perhaps she didn't care too much for his high energy. Bee was, so very quiet sometimes, comes with the territory of being a scout.
Turning on the Holoprojector to level 8, Hot Rod decided to work out his feelings the best way he knew how. By kicking decepticon afts. Hot Rod flipped and kicked and fired his weapons. He was panting by the time it was over and all the black decepticon drones were destroyed.
"Clap clap clap" came through the stillness.
Hot Rod whirled around. "Ironhide. You startled me."
"Nice to see you haven't lost your moves kid." Ironhide said coming over. "You want to tell me what's bothering ya?"
Hot Rod looked away. "Nothing's going on." He said. It was an obvious lie.
Ironhide frowned. "I trained you Hot Rod, I know when you are working through something." Hot Rod stayed silent, so Ironhide continued. "It's about the all spark, isn't it?"
Hot Rod nodded his focus on the floor. "Why didn't she pick me Hide?" he spoke almost in a whisper to his mentor.
Ironhide flushed air through his vents in a form of a deep sigh. "Hot Rod you and Bee have very different personalities. This all spark, Sarah, although young for her species is more stoic and quiet then other humans the same age. You were the perfect guardian for Daniel, both of you so full of energy and mischief, but think about it. What you know of Sarah, could you have been a proper guardian?"
Hot Rod thought back. He loved the idea of Sarah being his charge but sometimes she was so quiet, so strangely somber. That Hot Rod often found himself filling that quiet with talk but that really wasn't what she wanted or needed. Bee could be quiet with her, content to stand silently by her side for hours watching the stars pass by. Hot Rod had to admit, he…really wouldn't have been the best choice of guardian.
"She likes you plenty, she likes all of us." Ironhide assured the depressed looking bot before him.
Suddenly Hot Rod looked up and gave his old teacher a smile. "Guess I have been acting like a spoiled sparkling."
"More like a bratty one." Ironhide smirked, "But seeing as you've come to your senses how about a match?" Ironhide dropped his face plate down and charged up his cannons.
"Anytime old man." Hot Rod smirked from behind his face plate.
******************************Main Bridge*****************************
A few hours passed. The ships quiet was interrupted by a beeping from the computer. Ratchet was on duty when the encrypted message came through. Once decoded he sent an emergency call for everyone to come to the bridge. Everyone but Sarah who was currently in a rest cycle.
"What's wrong doc bot?" Hot Rod asked. He was the last to arrive but he sounded better than he had in weeks.
"It seems we have intercepted a coded autobot distress signal." Ratchet said, trying to hide the excitement in his voice.
"Where's it coming from?" Optimus asked, as Ratchet changed the computer screen to display a habitable looking planet some light years away.
"Here on Terrain Three. It appears to be a simple world but consisting of an oxygen based atmosphere and carbon life forms. There should be some safe edible plants we could see about gathering for Sarah.
"Alright!" Hot Rod cheered. "New bots and a new planet to check out? This is great."
Bee had to agreed. There were so few Autobots still around.
"Don't get too excited." Ratchet said as he changed course of the ship. "This message is very old. We may not find any survivors."
"But we have the all spark." Hot Rod countered.
"That may be true," Optimus said. "But she may not be physically able to bring more than one back. You remember what happened to her last time. For now let us just wait and see."
*******************************Sarah's Room********************************
"It's beautiful!" Sarah exclaimed looking out the windows of her room. Gone were the specks of starlight in the inky black. Before her was a was a large field of green filled with flowers clustering in blues, pink and yellow. The sky was a deep navy blue and she could just make out the edges of a forest in the distance. "Where are we? Cybertron?" She asked her guardian.
Bee stood beside his ward and laughed slightly. "No, this is Terrain Three. I suppose the best translation would be "Third Earth" in your language."
"It's more beautiful than anywhere I ever saw on my earth. Can we go outside? Chirp?" Sarah practically begged, eyes shining with human curiosity and excitement.
"Well…Although Ratchet said the atmosphere was within your tolerance. I'm not sure we should leave the ship." Bee shuffled his foot. Sarah has been asleep when they landed and the others, except for himself and Hot Rod, had gone to find the distress signal beckon a few miles away.
"I don't think we can get into any trouble here in this field and it's been awhile since I've really stretched my servos." Hot Rod added. He had come to terms with his feelings and now found that he was content to be a good friend to the all spark and her guardian.
"Please Bee? If we stay right by the ship it would be okay, right?" Sarah asked, looking outside once more, pressing her hands against the glass. She watched the flowers sway slightly in the gentle breeze, the sunlight dancing on them.
"Okay." Bee couldn't deny her simple request. "But we stay right by the ship."
Moments later the trio stood at the exit ramp. Hot Rod punched in a sequence and the door opened. The warm breeze found its way in quickly and the sunlight chased after it. It was more beautiful than it had been behind her window glass.
"Oh wow…" Sarah murmured, stepping out of the ship and into the grass. It smelled so fresh and clean. Butterflies dances around the blooms, here and there a bird called. Sarah was immediately drawn to the flowers and began picking them.
Seeing Sarah was already distracted Hot Rod spoke up. "How about a game of hyper ball Bee?" Hot Rod offered producing the dish shaped light sphere.
"You're on! And I've had a lot more practice in the last 500 years." Bee smiled, easily catching Hot Rod's first toss.
As the bots played competitively, Sarah wandered here and there until she had enough flowers to weave herself a crown of them. Then she began to pick a large bouquet of flowers intent on making a crown for Bee and one for Hot Rod when she hear a distant sound.
It sounded like a horse. Curiously she moved towards the sound near the forest edge. She stopped a few feet from the forest. It was like no forest she had ever seen before. All of the trees looked like old growth, with trucks so big it would take 4 or more people to reach around. The ground looked mossy and soft and unlike the fresh smell of the field the forest smelled rich and deep of dirt and plant life. Sunlight broke through some of the branches, dotting areas with beams of light.
Sarah didn't see anything and she turned to go back to her bots. She wasn't foolish enough to enter a forest alone when the sound of hoof beats stopped her. Slowly she turned back and standing a short distance away in the forest…was a unicorn.
Sarah dropped her flower bouquet in surprise. Was she dreaming? Was this really and truly a unicorn? Every young girl's dream come true? For a moment they just stared at each other before the unicorn turned quietly, looked over its shoulder at her and began to walk away.
"Hey! Wait a second." Sarah said forgetting she was supposed to stay close to the ship as she stepped into the forest and began to follow the unicorn. Seeing she was following the unicorn walked a little faster but never quite running from her. After some time the unicorn stopped in a clearing and turned to face her, possibly it was annoyed at being followed.
"I won't hurt you. I just, really want to look at you up close. Please." Sarah promised, wide eyed with wonder. She took a few steps forward and the unicorn let her. She was so focused on the magical beast she did not see the trip line. There was a loud THWANG! Sarah screamed as her world flew around her; the unicorn whinnied and ran off.
Sarah found herself in a large net, several feet off the ground. It took her a moment to shake off the dizziness of sudden flight but when she did she frowned. "Help! Bee! Hot Rod! Someone get me down!" She called out shouting as loudly as she could, very much aware they she was now lost in the woods.
****************************Meanwhile********************************
"All this way for nothing." Ironhide grumbled hiding his disappointment. They had found the wrecked ship but it was beyond old and long past the point of being able to work.
"Ratchet any life scans?" Optimus asked as Ratchet scanned the ship.
"None here but on the other side of the mountain I am getting a interesting reading. There is definitively autonomous life in that direction."
"Optimus to Hot Rod and Bumblebee. Please respond." Optimus called over the com links. There was only static in reply. "We seem to be cut off from communicating with the ship."
"Looks like this mountain range contain a trace amounts of Thunderllium. That would be cutting off all communication links in the vicinity." Ratchet surmised.
"So what now?" Ironhide asked looking at Optimus.
"Hot Rod and Bumblebee can hold down the ship. Let's keep heading in the direction of the autonomous life. Perhaps we will find answers there." Optimus said gazing out. You could just make out a small village in the valley below the mountain.
Ironhide laughed. "After all they can't get into too much trouble in a place like this."
****************************Back at the field*****************************
"That's game Hot Rod!" Bee cheered loudly, as he scored the winning point.
"You weren't kidding about getting better Bee. I've never even seen some of those moves." Hot Rod praised the slightly younger bot.
If bee could have blushed he would have. " I learned some of those moves from the Junkions. They loved this game. Geez it got late." Bee said checking his internal clock. "It way past lunch time for Sarah."
"Yeah let's get little spark some grub.. Hey Sarah!" Hot Rod called. There was no answer. Both bots looked around. She was no where to be seen.
"Did she go back into the ship?" Bee asked hopefully. A quick check with the computer indicated no life signs aboard.
"Fan out, look for any sign of her." Hot Rod ordered and being the senor officer Bumblebee obeyed.
"Sarah!"
"Sarah!"
"Sarah!"
"Hot Rod over here!" Bumblebee called by the edge of the forest. He had found the pile of flowers Sarah had been carrying.
"By Primus, we told her to stay close. Come on." Hot Rod said as the duo rushed into the forest. Sarah's foot prints were small and difficult to follow.
"I wish Trailblazer was here. He could always find even the slightest pathway." Bee said frowning as they lost her trail a third time.
"Don't worry Bee. We'll find her." Hot Rot said his face to the ground looking for tracks. They just had too.
**************************In the clearing********************************
Sarah sat in the net trap being rocked slowly by the same gentle breeze that blew the leaves in the tree tops. No one had seemed to hear her calling for help. As she sat pondering her best course of action the bushes near her rustled.
"Well now what have we here? A poacher caught in her own trap?" A voice called with a laugh, as the bushes parted. Sarah wiggled in the net to turn to face the speaker. A man, no a tiger standing on two legs like a man or a man cat or something, was staring at Sarah from just below her.
"I'm no poacher." Sarah assured this cat man.
He laughed at her. "I saw you in the forest chasing that unicorn into this clearing."
"I didn't see you." Sarah stated. Though to be fair she had been paying all her attention to the unicorn in front of her and not the woods around her.
The tiger man laughed again. "I'm only seen when I want to be seen." He said vanishing before her eyes only to reappear on the other side of Sarah.
"Look, if I was a poacher, I wouldn't walk into my own trap, would I?" Sarah argued logically.
"That makes you a very foolish poacher. Perhaps I should leave you hanging there as just punishment." he threatened.
Sarah put her hand to her heart. Bee and Hot Rod would find her, she could feel it. Sarah was about to speak when the bushes rustled again. The tiger man vanished.
"Ah Captain Hammer-hand we caught something!" A voice said. Coming out of the bushes was a very strange looking man, no men. Half human, half machine. Five in total. So very strange.
"Argh, I can taste that roasted unicorn now...Wha?" The metal armed viking like man looked up at Sarah in the net. She shivered. "Arh! You fools! Does that there look like a unicorn to you?" He growled pointing at Sarah. "That there be a...a...whatever that be...it ain't a unicorn! What be you girl?"
Sarah couldn't find her voice when one of the crew came closer, a mace in one hand a shield in another. "I can make her talk Captain."
"Yar, be still Top Spinner." Hammer-hand ordered as he stepped closer grabbing Sarah's foot through the netting and giving her a shake.
"What be ye girl?"He asked again.
Sarah gulped hard before squeaking out. "I'm Sarah...a..a human."
"Human? Don't know that species." He turned toward his men. "Cut this Sarah human down Ram Bam." Hammer-hand ordered and Sarah felt herself drop to the ground, net opening as she fell.
"Looks like my berserkers have a new cleaning wench. Or failing that...lunch. Hahahaha!" Hammer-hand licked his lips and reached down for Sarah when a laser blast shot through the air.
Bee and Hot Rod broke through the cluster of trees. Sarah had never seen them in battle mode before. They looked so fierce. "Yar! Fire back you lubbers!" the captain commanded and returned laser fire.
There was smoke and, laser blasts. Confusion and yelling and dust and dirt kicked up blocking the light. Everything was so loud and Sarah felt something strike her head. A broken tree branch maybe. She could still hear shouting and just as she blacked out she felt someone picking her up.
*******************************Unknown place*************************
Sarah whimpered slightly as she opened her eyes. Her head hurt. Touching her forehead she found she had a large bandage wrapped around her head. Where was she? She didn't know this blue gray room, or this large bed with white blankets she was tucked gently into. She sat up moving to get out of bed and immediately regretted it as the room spun suddenly.
"Be careful! snarf snarf." A voice called as Sarah leaned back onto the pillows a smallish creature climbed on the stool nearby. He looked like a dragon cat mixed with a hobbit or something like that. His fur was white and red. His tail long and fat. "You took as nasty hit to the head snarf."
"Who are you?" Sarah asked her voice surprisingly weak.
"I'm Snarf." The small creature answered. "Here I brought you some soup, snarf. You've been unconscious for hours." He held out a bowl to her. Sarah took it gingerly. "Sit up slowly and eat it. Careful its hot! Snarf." Snarf warned as Sarah went to sip the broth.
"Wow! This is really good!" Sarah praised eating quickly.
"I'm so glad you like it Sarah human, snarf snarf."
"Snarf how many times do I have to tell you? Her name is Sarah and she is a human. Her name's not Sarah human." Tygra said entering the room with Lion-O, Panthro and Cheetara.
"Feeling better I see?" The spotted cat women said coming over to the bedside. Sarah was not sure if she should be afraid or not.
"Who are you?" Sarah asked softly.
It was the lion man who answered. "I am Lion-O, Lord of the Thundercats, this is Panthro, Cheetara and Tygra. You've already met Snarf."
Snarf nodded at his name, taking the empty soup bowl away.
"I believe I owe you an apology Sarah, had I helped you out of the trap immediately, you would not have become caught in the cross fire of the fight that followed." Tygra stated.
"What trap? I don't remember I..." Sarah frowned in concentration then panic began to spread across her face. " I don't remember anything. Who am I?" She asked looking towards Lion-O. The four adult thundercats exchanged looks.
This wasn't good.
"Well..." Tygra started after a moment. "I know your name is Sarah and you are the species known as human, but other then that. I'm afraid we had just met before you received that blow to your head." Tygra indicated the bandage around her head.
"Let me try something. Sword of Omens give me sight beyond sight!" Lion-O commanded bringing his sword to his face. His eyes glowed. "Yes I can see it. Two robot creatures appear to be looking for her in the unicorn forest on the other side of the mountains. But what's this. The berserkers also seem to be searching for something or someone." Lion-O put the sword away and thought. "Hm...well we know the berserkers are up to no good and until we find out the intentions of these robotic beings I will not be taking you to them. You will remain here in the cat's lair under the protection of the thundercats."
Panthro took a light from his belt and shined it into one of Sarah's eyes than the other. "The swelling is going down. You should get you memories back over time."
Sarah nodded, "I...Thank you for caring for me. Especially since I have forgotten who I am..was...are."
