I just had a reviewer leave me an absolutely brilliant idea for the next chapter and quite frankly, I'm a little disappointed I didn't think of it first! So thank you RavenThePirate for this amazing idea! While I said I was going to make a note and write it later, I ended up imaging what I wanted to do and now I'm really fired up to write it now. XD
So her idea was to have Ben find the four sword again and end up split into four halves again. I am just cracking up inside thinking of Red's personality. I'm using the personalities from the four swords manga so for those who haven't read it, Green is the focused and motivated Link, Blue is the short tempered and aggressive half, Red is the innocent and optimistic personality (Lol), while Violet is the calm and collected one. (As stated in the Zelda wiki -_-)
Gwen wasn't sure what to expect when she received a call from Ben early that morning announcing he wasn't going to school for an indefinite amount of time. She couldn't detect any sign of strain in his tone of voice that could signify an illness nor was he suffering from an injuries that could have been inflicted in the midst of a battle that he refused to mention.
When questioned the reason as to why he was essentially ditching school, he made some passing comment about a four sword before a loud crash commandeered his attention as he shouted at someone in the background before he hung up on her.
So here she was standing outside Ben's front door, Kevin by her side and two others who were determined to be present to whatever trouble her cousin managed to land himself in this time.
It was those two girls, Leslie and Yuuhi, that Ben had been hanging out with after the return of his memories. To her surprise, both were princesses in their past lives and, no surprise here, both knew her cousin from his adventures to free their kingdoms from evil.
That one took a bit of time to settle in, her cousin was the literal hero who slayed evil and rescued princesses from towers that she had always read in fairy tales as a child. And this wasn't a one time thing either, it happened in every life he had.
Gwen sighed, she was letting her thoughts stray and ignoring the supposed problem at hand. She could hear Yuuhi cackling loudly behind her and one glance behind her told her Leslie was smiling widely.
'She knows,' Gwen mentally grumbled, 'She knows what happened and she's only told Yuuhi what's going on.'
The other red-head in the group finally ceased laughing as she wiped a tear away from her eye, "Oh, I can't wait to see this! This is gonna be so damn funny."
"What is?" Kevin asked her, growing impatient that no one was explaining what was so damn amusing.
Yuuhi just grinned, big and wide as she said, "Now why would I just go and ruin the fun like that? If you want to know so bad, go and ask Wolfy yourself?"
As it turns out, they didn't have to wait long. Drawn out by Yuuhi's laughter, the door slammed open, revealing Ben bearing a bright and cheerful smile. They had little time to notice that he wasn't wearing his trademark green jacket but a red copy of it when he shot towards Gwen and hugged her tightly.
"Uwah! It's so nice you guys came to see us!" He chirped happily. Yuuhi burst to a cackling roar again while Kevin and herself were left to gawk at Ben's strange behavior. Even Leslie was struggling to contain her giggles at Ben's oddly adorable demeanor.
The former princess of twilight's laughter drew Ben's attention towards her and his smile somehow got brighter. He quickly released Gwen and launched himself at Yuuhi, wrapping his arms around her waist. "Midna!" His smile fading as a horribly sad expression took it's place, "Why'd you have to leave? I missed you so much!" Tears began to fall as sobbed loudly into Yuuhi's stomach.
It was an effective way to stop her laughter but it was just plain weird. None of them had ever really seen Ben cry and to see it so openly like that was unnerving.
Yuuhi was growing increasingly uncomfortable with the crying hero that was behaving like a weeping anime character and the others really couldn't blame her. As a matter of fact, so was Gwen and Kevin, having to watch their friend's strange and very out of place emotional display. Once again they were questioning just what the hell Ben did now to end up like that.
"Oi would you just shut up already!Nobody wants to hear your useless crying anymore!"
The shout came from inside the house and...it sounded like Ben?
Outside, Ben stopped crying and looked back inside with watery eyes and tearfully cried back, "Why are you being so mean to me Blue? It's been so long since we've seen Midna and-" His speak was reduced back into tears and he hugged Yuuhi tighter.
Angry grumbling swiftly became louder as something, or rather someone, shot out the doorway and very painfully whacked Ben over the head. It was another Ben only this one was wearing a blue version of his signature jacket, wielding an furious expression on his face as he pulled the red-clothed Ben off of Yuuhi.
"Gwen? Please tell me that's just Ben and Damian playing a really bad prank on us..." Kevin muttered, staring wide eye at the twins as Red held his head where a painful looking bump was forming from Blue whacking him again.
That's what she really hoped it was but it seemed like fate was against her this time.
"I'm afraid not." Once again, Ben's voice came from the house, and looking back unveiled a third Ben, this time wearing a violet jacket with a serene smile.
"Dear God, did Ben accidentally clone himself or something?" Kevin asked almost hesitantly, slapping himself in the face wondering when this turned into a nightmare.
"Oh haha, very funny!" A fourth version of the hero stepped out, wearing the green jacket they were familiar with a rather annoyed expression on his face, "And for your information. No, I did not clone myself...At least, not the way your thinking of."
Gwen stared at the four different versions of her cousin, mouth gaping open at the sheer impossibility of what she was witnessing. Sure, cloning with the aid of alien technology wasn't all that far-fetched but somehow this was simply to much to bare. How the hell did Ben manage to create so many copies of himself in such a short amount of time?
"Please tell me there's only four of you." Gwen almost begged, watching as each of the differently colored Bens looked at each other and simultaneously said, "Wellllll."
A loud thump was all she heard to know that Kevin fainted and she wasn't sure how much longer she could stand either.
"OH MY GOD!" Damian shouted, scaring everyone half to death. He had strolled up the sidewalk unnoticed just in time to see Kevin keel over in shock, "Emo totally fainted! BUWHAHAHAHAHA!" He exploded with laughter as he lost balance and toppled to the ground.
Leslie looked on at the scene in front of her, an anime sweat drop above her head, "Oh my, This got out of hand fast."
Violet sighed as he watched the situation spiral out of control, "Why don't we move inside before anyone else faints."
Damian and Blue had the pleasure of whacking Kevin until he regained consciousness and dragged him inside where the rest of the group was waiting because they refused to carry him inside. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to exact revenge on the Osmosian for every joke he pulled on the two.
Once everyone was settled and likely to not faint again, those in the know began the explanation regarding the four Ben involving a magic sword (Honestly at this point they had given up on being surprised) and an ancient wind mage they had accidentally unsealed when they pulled the Four Sword from it's pedestal in order to defeat a shadow version of themselves and the journey that followed.
Apparently, each Ben represented a piece of his overall personality, much to Gwen's amusement. Red was happily chatting with Yuuhi and Leslie about how much he missed them while Yuuhi was gleeful poking fun at Blue in a deliberate attempt to upset him. Leslie was calmly patting Red on the head and smiling, occasionally speaking to Violet in between Red's chattering.
Damian was still laughing at Kevin which then started a big argument between the two with Green trying to pacify the two of them.
"So...Hey!" Gwen shouted, successfully gaining everyone's attention, "Why haven't you replaced the sword and fixed this mess Ben...or Green, I suppose?"
At this, each of the Bens turned away in embarrassment. "Well," Green coughed, "We, uh, sort of... don't know...where the pedestal is...Anymore..."
Gwen was seriously considering banging her head against the coffee table.
Yuuhi grinned a knowing smile, "You got lost didn't you?"
"Yep." Violet calmly stated.
"We weren't really looking for anything when we found it..." Blue muttered.
"So we weren't paying attention to where we had come from." Green went on with a touch of red dusting his checks.
"And we totally don't know where to find it again!" Red chimed in, not in the least bit down.
"-sigh-You're hopeless Ben." Gwen let her shoulders sink, simply amazed by the trouble Ben could find when he wasn't even trying. "Alright, where's this sword?"
Each Ben pulled out a shining blade with a golden hilt...Well, only Green, Blue and Violet did.
Everyone turned to Red who, for once, was nervous and poking both his index fingers together. "Ummmm, well...You see..."He started nervously, "I sorta...lost it..."
Several tic-marks appeared above Blue's head.
"GODDAMMIT RED!"
Oooooh this was way too much fun to write! Once again, Thanks RaventhePirate for suggesting this! Maybe later I can have another chapter with the four Links. X)
I want to do one with the Minish somehow, so maybe that be my next chapter.
Sooooo, how was this one? If you guys have a suggestion on a scene I should do, leave a review for me.
