Chapter 2: The Hell Just Happened?
The four of them were on the roof top looking down on the city below. The silver haired girl gave her name after Subaru asked three times. Apparently her name was Satella but Virgil, being the faithless guy he is, heard something off in how she said her name almost as if she was lying to hide her real identity. Virgil could understand why though, three strangers who are dressed differently then the town's folk and can't understand the local written language trying to get home. Virgil decided it was best to play along and only confront her when or even if the need arise. Paul finally regained consciousness and that's when "Satella" offered our three heroes a deal.
"I need to ask you for help with something." She gestures towards Virgil and Paul mostly. "You two look like you're guards where you're from, right?"
"We're known as Police Officers in our w-" Paul stops speaking and clenches his chest that suddenly started throbbing in pain. "Wha? My chest feels like it's gonna explode."
"Welp, I have two theories." Virgil decides to be an ass. "Either it's heart burn from what I assume to be the 17 pints of ale you drank judging by the 17 empty mugs I found right next to you or you're about to give birth to a Xenomorph Chest Burster any minute now. One or the other."
"Fuck you man! There's lizard men all over the place so that could happen you know."
"Only time will tell." Virgil grinned.
"Can we focus here?" Subaru chimed in.
"Nah we do this shit all the time so give us a minute 'kay, Outback." Virgil was going full asshole, he never goes full asshole so this is something new for everyone.
"You did NOT just call me a car!"
"So what if I did? Listen, Kid, I'm not in the best of moods today. I'm God knows where,-"
"Lugnica." Says Satella.
"You're not helping. And as I was saying, I'm God knows how far we are from home, I have a brother out for me and my mother's blood, my fiance is definitely wondering why I haven't come home yet, she's probably worried sick, and my two kids who've just turned a year old needs their father to protect them from their murderous uncle AND I'M NOT THERE TO PROTECT ANY OF THEM SO EVERY SECOND IS PRECIOUS BECAUSE FOR EACH ONE THAT PASSES BY PUTS MY FAMILY CLOSER TO DANGER!" Virgil shouted out into the city below. He had tears in his eyes that were starting to stream down his face. Virgil was scared, very scared. His whole life his family was being torn apart starting with the death of his father to his brother's disappearance but that all changed when Sayori came into his world through his computer. Him and her started a family together and Natsuki and Yuri came in then became part of that family as the aunts of his children but since Virgil's brother came back on a murder spree, he's been so fearful of losing his family all over again. Virgil calmed down and continued. "The very least I can do is humor myself to keep my composure because if I lose that then we're all fucked so with that said, through Heaven or Hell, Fire or Rain, we are getting ourselves home and I'm gonna put my brother behind bars or even kill him if that's what it comes down to. Is that clear?"
"Yes, sir." Subaru said softly.
"Look, Subaru." Paul joins in. "I've been around this son of a gun for a long time and he always has a cool head on his shoulders but I've never seen him shout in such frustration before so trust I know he's going through a lot right now. Now the best thing we can do is support him and count on him because the more people that need him the more determined he gets and when he's determined then there's no stopping him and if we believe in him then that determination is gonna get us home much sooner, trust me."
"Okay, I'm sorry."
"No, Subaru, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have snapped like that. Now what were you saying, Miss needs to stop giving me that impatient look before I decide to refuse to give her help?"
Satella instantly corrects her face. "I need you to help me find my insignia that's really important."
"Can you describe what it looks like?" Subaru asked.
"It's a dark purple, triangular, ceramic stone with gold trimming and a red gem in the center."
Paul was wrote down the description on his note pad. Satella also explained that she was pick pocketed by a young girl who had blonde hair and red eyes. Once they had a plan together they set off to look around the capital in teams of two. Virgil was with Satella and Paul was with Subaru. The two groups departed and once they were alone, Virgil started asking questions.
"So Satella, tell me so I can fully understand. You lost this insignia and you need assistance in retrieving it and you ask us because we simply look the part. While true my partner and I are the official authorities where I'm from but you could've asked the local guards who patrol this city who you obviously know for a fact that will help you yet you ask us instead. Why is that?" Virgil had a serious tone, one that tells you that you're story has holes and lacks logic.
"I have the feeling you don't trust me, Virgil."
"On the contrary," Virgil started using a tactic that he usually doesn't like to use in his line of work, intimidation. His eyes started getting serious with that soul piercing gaze. "I'd say you're not telling me everything and the last thing anyone should ever do is lie to me so be honest."
"I-I don't know what you're talking about." She stutters.
"3,291 times I've heard that line before. Not to mention 6,783 times someone stuttered while they lied to me."
"You keep count? You're unusual."
"You'd be surprised about how much I can keep track when it comes to numbers. I was top of my class in Mathematics during my four years in high school."
"Okay so what makes you think I'm lying?"
"Your facial expressions when you talk. I noticed it happen first when we asked for your name, Satella. If that really is your name."
Her eyes went wide.
"There you go, I caught you right there." He grinned.
"What do you want from me."
"Your trust."
She just looked at Virgil completely confused.
"Look, there's something obviously important about this insignia you're looking for but you're not going to find it if you don't trust us. This is the only way to insure it's safe return to it's rightful owner."
Satella looked at him with defeated eyes but they also said something to him. 'Alright, I'll trust you.' was what they said and that put a smile on Virgil's face.
"That insignia is to be held by a royal candidate and if I went to the guards then I'd probably get disqualified from the election. That's why I asked you for help."
"All I can see is truth in those words." He smiled. "Lets get that insignia back."
"Alright!" She started running but stopped to turn around. "It's Emilia by the way."
"It's a pleasure to officially meet you, Emilia."
"Likewise."
So the two found themselves at an old bar. They heard that a blonde haired girl with red eyes often goes there so they'd go check it out. As the two entered, Virgil smelled blood in the air. It was pitch black and they couldn't see so they waited outside the entrance before Virgil spoke.
"I recognize that smell. Emilia, wait right out here." He pulls out his flashlight and turns it on.
"What is that?"
"It's called a flashlight, it projects light into a specific direction." He pulls out his gun. "This is my Glock 23 handgun, it's for protection."
He holds up his light and his weapon as he enters. After a few minutes, Emilia hears a ruckus and then two loud popping sounds with bright bursts of light followed by the sounds of Virgil grunting in pain. She enters then looks the right and sees the girl with blonde hair on the ground dead and an old man each with gash wounds in abdomen. She looks to the left and sees Virgil on the ground leaning back against the bar counter with a huge purple dagger in his lower left chest. She runs over to help him when she sees movement to her far right, a limping woman holder her lower bleeding stomach charging over to her with a similar dagger in her hand.
"LOOK OUT!" Virgil yells out.
Emilia hears another popping sound and sees another flash of light. When the light fades, she sees the woman who was about to attack her fall backwards with her face covered in her blood. She hits the ground and stops moving, she is dead. Virgil puts his gun down as his life begins to fade away.
Sayori, Scarlet, Lelouch I'm sorry. Live on with out me and don't grieve my death. He thinks to himself one last time as he takes his final breath.
He wakes up and finds himself back in the capital with Paul and Subaru next to him.
"You bit the dust too, huh?" Paul says.
"The fuck just happened?" Virgil asks.
"WHAT HAPPENED?! WHERE AM I?! I JUST RETURNED FROM A PLACE BEYOND SENRTY COMPREHENSION! WHAT IS MY EXISTENCE?!" Subaru panicked.
(A/N): Sorry for the late chapter. Just got a second job to help pay for some of the expenses so haven't been paying much attention to this like I should be doing. Don't worry I'm not gonna make a habit out of it… Maybe… TOOTLES!
