Chapter 1 Welcome to Signal:

Signal Academy. First day of school.

Ruby Rose just wanted to be a normal girl. She wanted to do everything she could to fit in. She first had troubles with this when she got an almost perfect score on her Signal entrance exam. She had troubles for a second time when they were called to their first assembly. She was sitting in the auditorium, which was currently full of all the new students that were accepted to Signal that year.

The students were being called up randomly to pick roommates. As more and more of her classmates picked each other and left to explore their rooms, she was one of the last students sitting in the room. There were only 5 of them left. Great, that meant that one of them would probably be sent home.

As one of the last five students walked up to the front, they started to pick their roommates. One by one, all of the remaining students were picked and walked to the front, that is, except for Ruby.

As she was about to leave, a teacher signaled for her to come up to the stage. She walked up to the stage and looked up at the teacher. He smiled down at her and held out his hand

"Ms. Rose, I've heard so much about you."

She shook his hand, feeling a bit shy "Y-You have..?"

He started walking, motioning for her to follow "Only good things, I promise. Your test scores are better than most of your classmates I've heard."

She looked around, it seemed they had entered a different area of the school while walking.

"Where are we?"

The Teacher smiled and opened a door, revealing a room with two bunk beds "This is going to be your dorm"

Ruby walked in, taking in the scenery "But if I have a room that must mean I have roommates, right?"

The teacher smiled "You're very perceptive Ms. Rose. They will be here soon" With that he turned on his heels and walked out of the room, shutting the door behind him

Ruby climbed up onto the top bunk of the bed to her left and sighed. Eventually there was a knock on the door, and she jumped up to answer the door, excited to see her new friends. She was disappointed when it was just her luggage being brought up by one of the older kids who had already settled in and volunteered to help. She took her luggage and began putting her stuff in the drawers by her bed. After she finished this, she climbed back into her bed to take a well deserved nap.
