For Lizzy, since Squib!Molly is your favorite.

Molly grabs ahold of the gnome before it can slip away. She spins it around and around until she's a bit dizzy herself before releasing it. It screeches as it goes over the low garden hedge. Pleased, Molly grabs for another one from the gnomes running around at her feet.

"This is where you got off to."

Startled, she turns quickly to see her dad approach. The gnome she's holding wiggles in her grip. She twirls again before sending it over the hedge like the ones before it.

Her dad picks up a gnome, spinning and tossing it over the hedge. They work quietly to de-gnome for her grandmother.

"Why aren't you with the others? It is your party after all."

Molly isn't surprised when he tries to talk. Annoyed, she picks up the next gnome with more force than necessary, causing it to yelp, before she spins and tosses it away.

"Is this about not receiving your letter?"

She freezes while trying to grab for the next gnome. She'll never forget how the last week has felt—each day, getting more and more disheartened as she realized that her letter would never come. There had been clues over the years, or a lack of them. When she finally looks at him, he's just studying her. "I just wanted to be like them. I wanted to go to Hogwarts and learn magic, but I'm just broken," she says frustrated, glancing up to look at him. "I'm sorry that I'm not the daughter you wanted."

She sees her dad's eyes flash in angrily, but he takes a deep breath. There's an urgency to his voice when he says, "Just because you don't have magic doesn't mean you're broken, sweetheart. I'm not any less proud of you than I am of Lucy. I love you exactly as you are, and being a Squib will never change that. You can do amazing things without magic; you just have to embrace it."

Tears well in her eyes. Before she can say anything, her dad pulls her into a tight hug. She sobs into his shirt, all the anger and frustration of never showing any signs of being magical start to drain out of her. Her dad whispers comforting words the entire time.

It takes a while, but her tears start to dry. She pulls back. "Thanks, Dad."

"It's what dads are for," he says, giving her a smile. He tucks a strand of her golden red hair behind her ear. "What do you say about getting inside for presents and ice cream?"

She gives him a small smile and nods.

The Burrow has been through several expansion over the years to accommodate the family; one of them had been to expand the living room so everyone could fit comfortably. Sounds of laughter and screeches of excitement washed over Molly when they entered.

Before they make their way into the living room, her dad summons a bowl and a spoon before serving a few scoops of strawberry ice cream that she loves. It's a simple gesture, but she smiles. She knows that they're going to see that she had been crying, but she's not embarrassed by the thought of it; she's sure that they all can tell what she was upset about it.

However, when she walks into the room, the noise dies off. She takes a seat on the middle of one of the sofas, making sure her purple dress is under her legs with one hand.

Her grandmother hands her the first present. She takes a bite of her ice cream before setting it to the side. She rips into the wrapping enthusiastically, her heart weighing lighter. She may not be a witch but she still has her family.

Maybe being different isn't so bad after all.
