Hermione let out a gasp as she ran down the hall lugging her heavy knapsack behind her. Some classmates had stolen some of her stuff and she was late to class because of it. Late to her DADA class. Hopefully Professor Umbridge wouldn't be to mad, she had yet to do anything that deserved punishment, she might let her off the hook.

"Professor Umbridge-" She started, combing her fingers through her hair.

"Ms. Granger you are late. Detention!" Umbridge cut her off.

"B-bb-but, I've never been late before surely you could let this in incident-"

"Ms. Granger are you suggesting I provide you special treatment?" Umbridge said placing her hands on her hands on her hips.

"No ma'am I just thought since-"

"Since what."

"Nothing Professor Umbridge."
Hermione answered, lowering her eyes to the ground, fiddling her hands.

"Exactly, now take your seat."

"Wait! Professor you never told me where my detention is or what time." Hermione protested.

"Sit!"

Hermione pushed open the door to an abandon classroom, she had spent the night looking for where Umbridge was. She had tried Umvridges own classroom, the astronomy tower, the library and other various locations. She opened the door to reveal Umbridge sitting at a desk working on something.

"You're late."

Hermione felt her mouth open in shock, as anger being bubbling indie her, "You never told me where to meet. It's not my fault."

"Don't you dare raise your voice at me you wretched little mudblood."
Umbridge snapped standing up and slamming her hands on her desk.

Hermione reeled back as if slapped, eyes open in shock. "How dare you she began-"

"No! How dare you! I am your subordinate, both as a professor and as a pureblood, now sit so we can get on with your detention."

Hermione hesitated slightly before sitting down after all Umbridge was her professor at least for now.

"Now you will write until I tell you stop. You will write as a mudblood I must obey my superiors." Umbridge said handing her a quill.

Hermione eyed it warily, it was unlike anything she had ever seen before. And what Umbridge wanted her to write was a complete insult to her person. As soon as she got out of here she'd be complaining to the ministry.

She snatched the quill from her and began writing as quickly as she could before filling a burning sensation on her hand. She flipped over and found to her horror the words she had been writing on the parchment being engraved into her hand. She looked up at Umbridge only to see her staring back at her a smirk on her face.

Hermione stood up quickly her chair falling down behind her before stomping up to Umbridge.

"This is barbaric!" She shouted, waving the quill.

"No less then what a filthy mudblood such as yourself deserves."

"You are a vile excuse for a human being. I'm going to tell the headmaster."

"Go you won't have any proof."

"Proof." Hermione screeched, sticking out her hand, "How's this for proof."

"Show him, but be warned if you leave I'll extend your detention and this." Umbridge said pointing to her hand, "Will be the least of your problems."

Hermione frowned throwing the pen at her, ignoring Umbridges shock gasp and stuttering and making her way to the door.

Umbridge merely smirked, and began packing up her stuff she had another detention to attend to.

"What do you mean you don't see anything!" Hermione shrieked, sticking out her hand "Its right in front of you."

"Ms. Granger, please calm down. I'm sorry but I don't see anything that proves your accusations against Professor Umbridge."

Hermione blinked Umbridge's words replaying in her mind, 'Go you won't have any proof.'

"Well what if you read my mind, I'm sure you can do it, or give me veritaserum, or something." Hermione said.

"I'm sorry all of those suggestions can't be used on minors without sufficient evidence." Dumbledore sighed.

Hermione nodded leaving his office as she stared at her still bleeding hand feeling angry tears threatening to escape. How could Umbridge do something so horrible. She was worse than...

"Malfoy!" She shouted seeing his crumbled body on the floor. "What happened."

Malfoy mumbled something unintelligible before turning over and sitting up clutching his head.

"Malfoy who did this too you." She said, eyes rapidly looking over his injuries.

"Umbridge."

"What! We can't let this go unpunished, I can-"

"Don't bother, there's no proof."

"Again with this no proof. What is with that."

"She made a spell or a charm or something so people who haven't been punished by her can't see the punishments."

"That's cruel and unusual."

"Isn't it. Why are you being so nice to me anyway. Why do you care." Draco asked standing up and giving her a hand.

Hermione blinked not expecting that, grabbing his hand. "I just no one deserves this and you're not that bad."

"Really, well last time we met, I recall I was a disgusting abomination. And I don't care what you have to say, I love him and I've never been happier."

Hermione flushed shame running through her veins. "I didn't mean it, I was just, I mean, you and Harry were it just happened out of no where!" She exploded, "I'm his best friend and no offense but he's always hated you he use to complain to me about how much of a pain you were. Then all of a sudden you were dating, and it just it wasn't logical. I run on logic and it didn't make sense and it went as against everything I knew and it JUST DIDNT MAKE SENSE!"

"Granger you're bleeding." Malfoy said, throwing her off.

Hermione looked down at her newly carved hand and found that the wound has reopened.

"Did Umbridge do this to you?"

"Yeah, I didn't realize, I never knew all those students I sent to detention as prefect."

"Granger it doesn't matter what's done is done and you didn't do it in purpose."

"I know, but I-" she was cut off when Malfoy slumped forward nearly passing out. "Oh I'm so sorry, here I am rambling while you need help, but I can't take you to Madame Pomfrey."

"I'll be fine." He said before finally slumping over.

"Draco!" A voice shouted.

Hermione turned to see Harry running towards them followed by Ron and some girl she didn't reconigze.

"What happened, I swear Hermione if you did this-" Harry said storming up to her.

"I didn't I swear, I found him like this." Hermione said holding her hand up in defense.

"It was probably Umbridge." Ron muttered.

"Is he going to be okay?" Hermione asked, biting her lower lip worryingly.

"Why do you care last time I saw you, you didn't exactly agree with my life's choices." Harry snapped.

"Harry, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it I just didn't know how to deal with it..." Hermione trailed off as she noticed Harry wasn't listening to her. She looked and saw him gently taking care of Draco and smiled. They truly did love each other, it was obvious on the way Draco spoke about his love for Harry, and the way Harry was so concerned about Draco.

"We should take him to the room of requirement." Ron spoke.

"What about her." The girl Hermione didn't recognize said pointing in her direction.

"Her, is standing here." Hermione frowned.

"Right now I don't care. He needs help." Harry said.

"Come on let's go." The girl said, helping Harry pick up Draco, and she briefly noticed, the scarring on both their hands.

Hermione watched them walk away and began following before Ron stepped in front of her, glaring.

"Don't you dare think about hurting them or revealing the location of our room." He warned, before turning away and catching up to that girl grasping her hand in his.

Hermione frowned crossing her arms, but felt she couldn't argue with him not after how she acted. She still felt her insides twist when she saw Ron hold the girls hand and sighed to herself, slowly walking after them, hoping they had a wrap for her hand.
