You're never going to believe this, but I've finally finished the last chapter. WTF?! Apologies for any typos, I'm not the best at catching mistakes. I hope this isn't too cheesy for you, but if it is, I'm not sorry because I like cheesy endings.

...

Weeks passed. Celeste had grown fond of her spot at the end of the bed. She sat at her daddy's feet, often coloring, reading, drawing, and singing. She sang to her daddy constantly, especially when her mother rested her eyes at the bedside.

It was usually quiet in the room, even with the nurses going in and out as well as the phones continuously ringing at the nurse's station in the hall. It was by sheer luck that they heard Troy when he finally mumbled.

It was quiet at first, then he erupted with a choke, a moan. This jerked a dozing Sharpay wide awake, she quickly hovered over him.

"Troy? Troy?" she asked with hope.

He continued to moan like a ghost. "It's okay, Troy. Try again." Sharpay was elated that he was attempting to communicate, but there was a dormant frustration between both of them. It wasn't fair how much she wanted to understand him. After all these years, how much of Troy was still there?

"Do the blinking game, Mommy." Sharpay took a seat at Troy's side, while their daughter watched quietly behind.

Sharpay felt for Troy's hand and held it tight; motionless. The game question game as Celeste like to describe it, consisted of asking questions and answering in blinks, once for yes and twice for no. Doing this they came to know that he was very much aware of what was happening. To their surprise, he remembered. His name, his parents, his school, Sharpay, their daughter…

"Do you remember that we were in love?"

One blink.

"Do you remember that we were engaged?"

Troy's eyes blinked several times, and then he closed them altogether. Moments passed, his eyes opened again to meet hers and he blinked once. She squeezed his hand and let her guard down. In all of this, the scariest part was that she would have to do this alone. But that wasn't the case, ever. When Celeste was born, both families came around to support them. After the accident, Troy's mom and dad became Sharpay's mom and dad. It seemed that after all this time, anxiety was the only thing that could steal her away besides Troy's coma.

"Do you remember that we were in love?"

One blink.

"Do you still love me?"

One blink. A cold shiver ran down Sharpay's entire body and she grasped both of his hands, falling onto his chest and sobbing.

He hissed then, in short breaths. It sounded like a snake, a dying one.

"Sss…" he croaked. "Ss.." Sharpay shot up and apologized for collapsing onto him.

Celeste crawled closer towards her father on the bed, her eyes narrowing at the man.

"Don't worry, I'm calling the nurse," she said frantically pressing the nurse button on the bedside remote. She was so distracted by his vulnerability, that she couldn't see the strength that he had been gaining over the past few weeks.

"Sis…" her heart stopped when she heard the vowel in his speech.

"Sis," he spit out, to the little girl leaning over him and smiling. "Sissy," he breathed.

Looking at their daughter, she laughed and cried at the same time. All emotions were uncaged in a single second.

"Yes, Troy. This is Sissy. Isn't she beautiful? See how big she is?"

Celeste looked towards Sharpay for approval before moving forward, Sharpay nodded her head this time allowing Celeste to fully embrace her father for the first time.

When she carefully laid down on the man, her father, she felt him. Not the sleeping, quiet, daddy she always knew before. When she picked her head up from him, he was looking straight at her. Tears were forming in his eyes, and falling down his cheeks.

"I made him cry?" she looked up to Sharpay.

"No, Angel," Sharpay said equally as emotional as Troy. "You brought him back."

...

SEVEN YEARS LATER

...

Celeste sat with both of her grandpas in the waiting room. Uncle Ryan was on a flight back to Albuquerque from Long Island. She sat shaking with nerves, clicking her tongue and tapping her foot.

Minutes prior, her dad had walked back from the delivery room and announced that a new baby girl had been born. Her baby sister, and she couldn't be more nervous to meet her for the first time. Hopefully she wouldn't cry when she got to hold her. That wouldn't be a very good first impression. "Please like me…" she kept thinking as she waited hours and hours for her to come.

Now they were just waiting for the doctor to finish up with her mother.

Her grandfather Vance had fallen asleep in the chair throughout the morning, it was almost noon. Grandpa Jack was standing, stretching his legs and giving her googly-eyes every time she locked eyes with him. When it seemed that she couldn't take the suspense and anticipation any longer, her dad finally came back to get them. "Are you ready to meet your little sister, Sis?"

She couldn't even speak, all she could mutter was, "Mmm hmm." Her footsteps were light as she walked past the double doors into the delivery room hallway. They stopped at a cracked door, halfway down the hall. Her father pushed the door open and immediately she saw both of her grandmothers and her mother sitting up in bed. There was a little bundle in her mother's arms. Even from the doorway, she could see her little face.

"Sit down," her father said guiding her to a sofa chair in the corner. Her mother's eyes followed the bundle as she handed it to Troy, who was making his way towards Celeste. When he placed the bundle into her arms, she almost couldn't breathe.

"This is Carina," he whispered kissing her forehead.

"My baby," Celeste sighed with all the love she could feel in her heart. As she tuned out the other conversations that occured in the room, her eyes loomed in on her baby's. "You're my baby," she said softly. She was frozen in time, there weren't enough words to describe how happy she was.

The moment came when her dad asked if someone else could hold the baby, but she didn't hear him. She was truly mesmerized by this new life in front of her. She wanted to be a big sister her whole life, she'd waited 12 long years for this moment.

"Don't worry, the world's not such a bad place when you've got someone looking out for you. And that's my job. So I promise, I won't let you down."

"Celeste," her mom called from across the room, "share." The young girl looked up sadly and handed the baby to her Grandpa Jack. She went to her mother's side, "Don't worry. We get to take her home with us." And they both smiled.

Celeste sighed, "Did it hurt?"

Sharpay laughed, "Not as bad as when I had you. Plus, I had your dad and both of your grandmas with me this time." Celeste remembered hearing her birth story when she was ten. It didn't really make sense to her at the time, but being a little older now, she sort of understood what her mom said about picking her up for the first time and just knowing that they were meant to be. That's how she felt about Carina.

"I love you, Mom." She wrapped her arms around Sharpay until her dad asked if she wanted to take a picture with the new baby. He took lots of pictures, Celeste with Carina, Celeste, Carina, and Sharpay. Both grandparents with both grandkids. By the time the nurse came to take the baby back to the nursery, they must've accumulated a hundred pictures. Celeste was a tad annoyed that they took babies so soon from their families, but her dad assured her it was for the baby's health. That settled Celeste.

Celeste was in school when they took Carina home the next day. But the minute she walked through the door, she was flying around the house trying to find where they stashed the baby. Her father warned her to be quiet. She found her sister sleeping in the nursery, her mother passed out in the recliner next to it.

When Troy caught up, he found her standing by the crib. As if she could sense his presence, she whispered, "I won't wake her, I just want to watch her sleep."

He took this opportunity to wake his stirring wife and help her to their bedroom. She fell back asleep quickly, completely exhausted from the last nine months. When he returned to the nursery, Celeste hadn't moved. "Don't you have homework?" he whispered. "I can do it later," she responded very quietly.

Troy put his hand on her shoulder, not expecting her to wrap her arms around him. This is exactly what she did, "I love you, Daddy." It sounded like she was about to cry. "Hey…" he said bending down even though she wasn't a little kid anymore. He brushed a tear away with his thumb, "What's wrong?"

She shook her head, "Nothing. I'm just so happy."

He picked her up like he did when she was younger, "You're my little princess."

Just then he felt a soft hand on his shoulder. "You're supposed to be asleep," he told Sharpay. "Believe me, I'm going right back to bed. Just haven't seen my big baby much the past few days."

He put Celeste back down on the ground and she embraced her mom, who still smelled like the hospital. It didn't matter, no hospital smell could erase what she was in the arms of her mother, in the arms of her father: safe. She knew comfort and love. Carina would know this feeling too. "We're so lucky," said Celeste. "Very," her parents said at the exact same time. And no truer words had ever been spoken.

...

I know that ending was short and cheesy AF but I started working on this story six years ago. Started revamping it three years ago, worked three jobs, got two degree's in the process so excuse me for taking forever LMAO. I'm sorry if it wasn't long enough, but sometimes you don't need a long and drawn out ending. Sometimes it's better to just cut straight to the good stuff. That, and you all have waited long enough for Troy and Sharpay to get their happy ending. I'm happy that they did.
