Chapter 12 - Meeting the Matchmaker

Kaiba and Ryou were lying in bed embracing one another. The brunette, however, kept wondering about that note that was stuck to his office door after the Yuugi-tachi's visit the other day. Who were these people and were they a potential threat to him? How do they know so much?

Once his albino lover fell into a deep slumber, Kaiba stood to his feet and walked over to the window. He looked at the clock for a moment to see that it was precisely midnight. Returning his gaze to the open window, Kaiba glanced up to see that a shooting star appeared in the sky and looked about for anyone that seemed to be strange. That is, if you count the male who seemed to have a fetish for dressing up as some white cat/human jester as one of them.

However, despite the odd choice of outfit, Kaiba was intrigued by this man. Whatever he is…

Without thinking, he found himself grabbing his house key and walking out the door. He attempted to hide himself from this… half-breed, but the cat quickly took off in the opposite direction.

Chasing after him, Kaiba avoided the civilians that happened to be in his way. This boy had stopped every so often to see if Kaiba was still following him, as if he knew he had a tail.

Eventually, Kaiba was led to some random tree. "What the hell?" he frowned, taking his time looking for the male that seemed to disappear.

"Looking for someone, Kaiba Seto?"

The brunette glanced sharply up to one of the higher branches to see him leaning against the tree. "Then again, I know what you came here for."

"Don't give me that bullshit!" Kaiba growled. "Who are you?!"

"Keiro Loki." he called down, tilting his head and popping the tendons in his neck. "Sakura's been waiting all night for you."

Quickly looking around again, Kaiba asks, "Well, where the hell is this bitch?" Loki laughs from the tree.

"Well, someone's in a bad mood!"

"Shut up, furball!" the brunette shouts. Loki abruptly stops laughing, but his grin was still there. "Was it something I said?" When Kaiba looked at him in confusion, he glances to the stars. "And here I thought you weren't as much of a fool as I took you for."

"You're one to talk." Kaiba smirks. Loki's piercing blue eyes looked himself over for moment. Shrugging, he conceded, "Touché, mon ami."

"Look, just tell me where Sakura is." Kaiba sighed. "I'm in a bit of a hurry." Loki laughed, "Well, if you want to see her, you'll have to follow me!"

Before the brunette could say another word, this half-breed jester quickly scaled the tree and gestured him to follow. Kaiba watched him in disbelief. *This guy is seriously expecting me to follow him? What good will climbing a tree do?*

*"Well, if you would stop being so difficult, maybe you'll find out!"*

Kaiba looked around in search of the voice, even though he knew that no one else was around. *"Are you coming or aren't you?"* the voice demanded.

"Where are you?! Show yourself!" he shouted.

"I thought you were coming, Kaiba." Loki called, seeming a little disappointed. "And she went through so much trouble of trying to get your attention." He sat on the branch waiting for him.

"Yeah, but I don't see how climbing a tree is going to do anything!" Kaiba shouted back.

"Well, if you would stop being so difficult, maybe you'll find out!"

Those words caused Kaiba to snap his cold gaze toward him. *What?!* he thought, not even bothering to hide his surprise.

Loki's smirk was beginning to worry him. *"There's no need to be afraid of me, Kaiba."* the voice laughed. *"However, I think it's in our best interest that we hurry. Sakura's patience is wearing thin."

"Yeah, so is mine!" Kaiba growled.

Loki rolled his eyes in irritation. "Oh, for the love of-" He hops off the branch he's on and walks towards him. "This is going to get us nowhere."

Kaiba started to feel dizzy. *What the hell…?*

"I didn't want to do this," Loki started, raising a hand (or… paw?). "But you're not really giving me a choice in the matter." With a snap of his fingers, the brunette suddenly fell to his knees as the black started to cover his sight.

Kaiba woke in a small room with the jester by his side. "Oh, you're awake!" Loki sighed in relief. "I thought I-" Kaiba suddenly gets up and heads for the door. "Where do you think you're going?!" Loki demanded, grabbing his wrist.

"To find Sakura. I want to have a word with her." Kaiba answered. "Now let go of me."

Loki's sharp blue eyes narrowed. He says firmly, "I don't think you're well enough to go wandering around." Kaiba glared at him.

"You will release me at once, furball. You don't want to mess with me." he hissed. Loki reeled in shock, looking rather offended. The usually playful expression he had rapidly turned dark and the rage that was growing seemed to have lit some spark of fire in the jester's eyes.

"No one speaks to me like that and lives." Loki growls, his claws sliding slowly into view. Kaiba wasn't so sure this was a form of cosplay anymore.

"Loki! Stop threatening the guest!" a woman called from the doorway. How quickly Kaiba turned was a slight surprise to the brunette. Loki seemed to have backed away slowly. "S-Sakura."

The brunette smiled. "It's nice to see you again, Kaiba." Kaiba looked back at her, thinking, *But that's Frost Luna! What is she doing here?!*

"I'm sure you have plenty of questions to ask me." she said. "So, what's first on your list?"

~A/N: Sorry to do this to you guys. I have gotten a ton of questions as to why it was suggested that Kaiba needed help in his relationship with Ryou.

So I'm just going to tell you this now: He doesn't. It was just a way for Sakura to get his attention. He was pissed that she said that to him and wanted to more or less confront her about it.

As for the cliffhanger, that was my way of saying I screwed up somewhere as I was writing and it will take me a while to fix it. I have a tendency of changing a bunch of things while I am typing.

In any case, Please Review! X3

Next Chapter:Another Night

Yuugi sat there, eyes wide in confusion as a small white light in the middle of the ceiling started to grow, getting brighter and brighter. "What's going on?!"
