Chapter 13 - Another Night
Yuugi looks up to the stars, thinking about the times he had collapsed. He had never done that before and everyone acts like nothing had happened, but he knew it was completely bullshit. He feels like he's forgetting something very important, like he's missing a piece of his identity.
And what about that cat he saw? The white one had a wedding ring that was the same color as his amethyst eyes. He felt some sort of connection between him and himself. He walked over to his desk and pulled out a small ring. He's had that ring for a long time now. Yuugi couldn't remember where he had found it, but the gems were the same color as Yami's ruby eyes. Something like a wedding ring...
Yuugi was pulled from his thoughts when a knock sounded on his door. "Come in!" he called, hiding the ring in his back pocket. The brunette known as Sakura walked into the room.
"So, how are you this evening, Yuugi?" Sakura giggled. Something seemed to put her in a good mood. "I'm fine, thanks for asking, Sakura." Yuugi smiled back, taking a seat on his bed. Her laughter was positively contagious."How about you and Yami?" Sakura stopped for a moment, her blood running cold. "Oh, he's fine. Still searching for his... lover, let's say."
Yuugi felt bitter and jealousy twist at his heart that someone had Yami as their husband. There was no other way to consider the male as anything else due to the wedding ring. Which reminded him... "Sakura..."
"Yes, Yuugi?" she answered bubbily. The small teen walked over to the desk again and opened the drawer. Pulling out the ring, he inquired, "Who's his lover?" Sakura was taken back. "His lover?" she repeated nervously.
"Yeah. You're his sister. Don't you know who he or she is?" Yuugi asked, now curious about Sakura's hesitation. Clearly, she knew something, but wasn't willing to give up the information.
"I-I don't know." she said lamely, knowing Yuugi suspected something. "He did have a ring, though. One that was silver and - "
"Had tiny ruby gems on the sides?"
Sakura turned to look at the violet-eyed boy, her blood once again turning to ice when she saw him with the ring of Yami's husband.
"Where did you find that?"
"What's his name, Sakura? I need to know." Yuugi demanded. Sakura sighed, "His name is Rosu Amitos. He... he went missing a month after the wedding."
Yuugi thought about this for a moment. "He didn't go missing, did he?" Sakura furrowed her eyebrows. "He did." she insisted. "Something happened and, in the chaos, he suddenly vanishes. No one has seen or heard from him since." Sakura hated lying to the little one, but to her, there was no choice.
Amitos, as far as anyone was concerned, was dead.
"So, this is his ring?" Yuugi inquired.
"Was." Sakura hesitantly corrected. "Eveyone believes that he's dead. It's been sixteen years since his disappearance." The male had this constant nagging feeling that she wasn't telling him everything. He felt like scratching his left arm. Giving in to the urge, he pulled up the sleeve of his white shirt to scratch at it.
Sakura's hazel eyes shot open at the scar on Yuugi's arm. Burned onto his pale skin was a snake that went from his wrist to his elbow. It was the same mark that Amitos bore after...*Could it be...?* she wondered."Yuugi? How did you get that mark?" Yuugi stared at it. "This?" he asked. "I don't know, actually. I've had this for as long as I can remember."
Sakura watched the boy's usually bright violet eyes lose it's playful light and turned to a dark stare, his small fingers slightly twitching from being held in the same position for a little too long. She had a sneaking suspicion that Yuugi was Amitos.
Now that she thought about it, during the meeting with the Royals, he had some sort of blackout, saying things that she believed that he had no idea of.
*"Don't think I don't remember anything."*
Sakura mentally shuddered at the thought. Amitos knew about the prophecy, she feared, and he wants to fix it even though it hasn't yet started.
"Sakura? Something wrong?" Yuugi asked yet again. She blinked once, looking up to meet his eyes. Smiling, she giggled, "Of course! I'm fine!" She looked out to see the gray streaks of dawn lighting the sky outside the window. "I just felt like I had forgotten something. Nothing you need to worry about!" She turned from the window. "I should get going." Yuugi stared at her for a second, suspicion evident in his accusing violet eyes. She suppressed a shiver at the thought that Amitos was watching her for a reaction.
Yuugi returned the smile. "Alright, then!" he laughed. "I'll see you later, Sakura!" Sakura walked out of the room, shutting the door behind her. Yuugi flopped down on his bed, placing the ring on the nightstand beside him. He would ask Yami later if he knew anything about this 'Amitos' guy. *Who exactly was he?* Yuugi wondered as he stared at a tiny white light on the ceiling.
*Wait a minute.* he thought, sitting up to get a slightly better look at it. "I don't remember that being there."
Yuugi sat there, eyes wide in confusion as a small white light in the middle of the ceiling started to grow, getting brighter and brighter. "What's going on?!" Yuugi felt his entire body go numb, feeling completely overwhelmed by the light. Apparently, this 'light' had been waiting for him to ask that single question...
Sakura, on the other hand, was running to Yami's house. She had to tell Loki about this, about Yuugi, about Amitos, anything and everything. All throughout her sprint, only thought stood out than everything else in her mind.
Amitos is alive.
~A/N: Sorry if this seems short, but I had to completely redo this chapter and do the same to the next one. Yet another cliffhanger, I know, but I seriously screwed up somewhere and I am trying to fix it. Please, bear with me on this one. I'll try to clear up anything, I promise. Please Review! X3
Next Chapter:Memoires of a Lost Soul
Yami stared out of his bedroom window, waiting for Yuugi to come see him. Yuugi had called him saying it was important that he talked to him about something...
