Chapter 18: Who Am I and What Have I Become?

By the time Yuugi and Yami had begun their fight, Taki was already on her way with Kaiba in tow, once again sane. They were met with a shower of fireballs and shining arrows upon the rooftop of the Kaiba Corp building.

Kaiba looks at Yuugi and Yami, somewhat surprised at what this week turned out to be and still bewildered with this surreal reality.

Yuugi, on the other hand, was more focused on keeping his husband in check. Last thing that was needed was the entire city getting destroyed.

Taki, eager to jump into battle, creates an ivory javelin and rushes at Yami. Yuugi notices and, not wanting his husband to be harmed in any way, ends up getting in her way.

Even if he was partially insane, Yami still recognizes him enough to push him out of the way. Then, with a twisted grin, he throws a fireball at the brunette female. Upon impact, she's thrown backward and collides with the ground with her shoulder suffering a major burn.

As she's spitting curses at him in her native tongue, Yuugi was busy trying to get inside his head, trying to reel him in enough to help him. What he discovers wasn't a pretty sight.

Everything in his mind was in complete chaos and disorder. This demon that Yami has inside of him was toying with him, a parasite demon who's nearly taken control of their host.

As soon as he realizes this, Yami's mental barriers react and sent him out his mind and flying into the concrete.

Yuugi groans, the pain settling in his back and head as he sat up. Opening his violet eyes, he saw his husband on his knees in tears, whispering to himself as if begging the demon that was inside his body to spare him.

"Yami...?"

Yami choked out his words, desperately fighting the demon inside his head. "Amiti- No, Yuugi." His husband looks up at him with teary crimson eyes. "Please... help me."

With a scream, he collapses onto the ground, cursing the monster inside of him to the heavens. When he falls silent, Yuugi watches in horror as his twin sits up, his limbs not even moving as he does so.

"Yami? Yami, are you okay?" A chill runs down his spine as his possessed husband turns his head towards him and opens his eyes. His beautiful crimson eyes had turned gold.

Then with a somewhat distorted voice, he says, "Well, that took longer than I thought." Yami pushes himself to his feet and looks around the rooftop.

Taki was still trying to recover from her injuries, Kaiba was analyzing everything like he was, and Yuugi was staring at him in horror.

A sadistic grin forms on his face. He always did like the look of fear from his prey before he kills them. The only thing standing in his way was his host. While the monster has basically taken over his body, his will to protect his husband was strong. There was no way to attack him without getting harmed in the process.

"So," the smaller twin begins to say. "Which parasite are you? Molocus? Nephyr? Gilzhad?"

"Daemion," Yami's parasite answers. "I recognize you from somewhere. We've met before, haven't we?"

He nods. "Anuthia, sixteen years ago, a few months after me and Loki's wedding."

"That's right," Daemion chuckles. "You were able to escape because of the girl. Is that her over there?"

"Wrong twin, you ignorant prick," Taki spits at him. The parasite demon simply raises an eyebrow. "What, didn't you know that Sakura has a twin?"

"Oh, I was aware," he says with a slight growl. "I just didn't expect you to be so foul-tempered. What did I do to deserve such an attitude from a peasant demon?"

Taki glares at him, pushing herself to her feet with her shoulder still smoking from the burn. "First off," she growls. "I'm not a "peasant" demon. I happen to be related to Sakura through blood. She's my twin sister through and through. Should she die, I'd be the next in line for the throne."

The irate female picks up her javelin from the ground, the flames of rage sparking in her hazel eyes. "Second off, I'm pissed off at you because you freaking set me on fire!" As soon as she finished speaking, she throws her weapon at Daemion, who dodges it with ease.

"Well, I suppose I can't blame you too much for that then," he chuckles after the weapon embeds itself into the door to the staircase.

Taki rushes at him, her feet catching fire, before taking a swing at him. Daemion, using Yami's physical prowess, was able to keep up with her strikes.

The difference between Sakura and Taki was that Taki is a master of the Fire element and Sakura is a master over Water. Therefore, when they use their respective element, it's stronger than warriors with other elements. However, the drawback is that if they use an element that counters their own, it's much weaker than all the other elements.

Since Taki was currently using fire, her strongest element, each strike he counters still left him with some burns on his arms and legs despite his best efforts.

Daemion couldn't risk too much damage with his host's body, so he uses his shadow as a sort of barrier, forcing her away so he has time to recover.

He looks around the rooftop, only to notice that both Yuugi and Kaiba were missing. But where-

"Looking for me?" Kaiba's voice echoes from behind him, startling the parasite. As he turns, he watches as Kaiba punches him in the face, sending him straight to floor.

Yuugi, on the other hand, was watching from by the staircase. There had to be a way to get inside his head so that the fight would be inside him rather than out here in the open. People could get hurt or killed if this continues.

"You got a plan yet?" a familiar voice echoes in his head. Sakura?

"Not yet, still trying," he replies. "Think you can help Kaiba keep him occupied?"

The silence was a bit unsettling, but he was relieved when she and her lover appeared before him. That is, until he saw the albino behind them.

"Um, what's Ryou doing here?"

"Who's the kid?" the demon inquires, not remembering when the albino got here. Ryou takes the new powers he obtained and makes a bow and arrow. "I'm a man who's going to help put you down, demon."
