Chapter 12 - Interrogation
*Ra, my head is fucking killing me!* Bakura mentally groaned as both he and his lover Yami was dragged into the interrogation room by their wrists. Out of everything that was happening, he was more focused on the fact that he felt like he was having a headache from Hell and that Yami looked like he was just about ready to pass out.
Yami knew he was going to be interrogated first because of his attempt to free Bakura. However, thanks to the drug he brought with him, they should be out in no more than five to ten minutes tops. The former pharaoh felt like he was on fire and he felt like he was going to be horribly sick. Glancing over to the thief king, he wondered how the albino's body would handle this completely unknown substance. Usually, first-time users would cough up an alarming amount of blood...
"Take a seat, boy." one of the guards ordered, pulling up a chair for Yami to sit on. He appeared pale and shaky to everyone else. The guard stared at the teen. "Alright. We're going to ask you a series of questions and we want you to give us some answers. You caused a lot of trouble around here and we would like to know why."
Yami's POV
I sat patiently as they set me up for the polygraph. Let's see, this drug I concocted should trick the polygraph. Whether that was a good thing or a bad thing, it depends on what I say. If I'm not careful, then this could end badly. Worst-case scenario, me and Bakura are locked up for a while. But I have other methods of breaking us out of prison. I don't want to use them, but if that's what it takes...
"First question." the captain began. I was wondering when they would get on with it. "Who are you?" Obviously, this guy was new with interrogations. They start with your name. Then again, I've been under the radar for eight years. They have no record of my existence whatsoever. But who am I? Excellent question.
"A smart-ass with nothing left to lose?" I answered innocently. I hear Bakura bust out laughing. "Oh, wait, you're asking for my name, aren't you?" Another one of the guards was snickering in the corner behind me. I smile like I was caught stealing cookies out the cookie jar. It's great to know I haven't lost my sense of humor.
"Oh, great, a wise guy..." the man groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose in irritation. I decide to lead them on a little more.
"Oh, now, how could I pass that up?" I asked with this big grin on my face. One of the new guys ended up rolling on the ground with barely contained laughter. Glancing back, I notice Bakura is about to die from laughing so hard. Even from here, I could see the tears coming from his closed eyes.
"I'd watch what I say if I were you, kid." the captain warned. I was walking on a tightrope as it was and here I am pulling jokes out of fucking nowhere. However, if I am going to get both Bakura and I out of here, I need to actually answer their questions.
"My legal name is Yami Kuro." I answer honestly. I have at least twenty so aliases. I have a few enemies still lurking about and I don't want them to find me anytime soon.
"Your legal name?" he asked curiously. Ra, this man is gonna drive me nuts. "Yes, that's my legal name. Why?" I ask him, a bit irritated. He stares at me for a minute longer.
"Never mind. Age?"
"Twenty-one." That was complete and utter bullshit, but so long as it'll get me and Bakura out of here, what harm would a lie like this to do us?
But, no matter what I said, it would always come out as the truth, thanks to my homemade drugs. That is why I should really be careful of what I say so I don't contradict myself and risk me and Bakura's freedom.
I begin to think that the effects of the drugs had kicked in though because I was feeling rather dizzy. I glanced back at my thief king to see his brownish-red eyes nervously darting around the room. That means we have about, say, one minute until the both of us suddenly collapse.
The captain stared at me in confusion. "You're looking pretty pale, kid. Something you hiding from us?"
Did I really look that bad? I looked back at Bakura once just to see how he's taking this. Turns out I didn't need to because he begins coughing. Give him a second or two to get the blood out of his system.
As soon as I turn around, there was enough of the dark red substance to convince anyone that he was, in some way, horribly ill. The captain was demanding answers as to why this was happening. Something about him not dying yet.
After they told him that he was fine about half an hour ago, their words were lost on me. The last thing I could do is tell them why I was doing all of this. I didn't say I'd make it easy for them, though! So, as the last of my consciousness slipped into darkness, so did a small note I concealed in my sleeve. Hopefully, someone will notice it…
Normal
Yami swayed for a moment longer before dropping unconsciously to the concrete floor. It was a good thing someone was near or he most likely would have broken his neck.
"Sir?" the black-haired man asked after catching Yami. "What should we do? I mean, with neither of them responsive-"
"Just take them both to the infirmary, Tsubaru." The captain ordered, his subordinate's green eyes focused on him. "Check to see if they had been drugged at any point in time. If you find anything, you tell me immediately."
Acknowledging the command with a terse nod, Tsubaru picked the former pharaoh off of the ground and walked out of the room. Once he returned, the black-haired male saw his superior with a note. "I need you to keep an eye on this Kuro kid. You seem to know more about him then this country's government does."
"There wasn't a trace of him anywhere." Tsubaru repeated to him. "I made absolutely certain of it. Somehow, there isn't anyone who knows anything about him."
The captain turns his way and says, "The Kitamori girl should. She can find information on anyone." Handing him the note, he says, "Find her and give this to her as well once your done. Something tells me this has the reason for the only member of the Kuro family suddenly coming back on the radar."
~A/N: I understand this is probably not making any sense whatsoever to most of you in any way, shape, or form. You guys are probably going to hate me at the end of all of this. Please Review! X3
Next Chapter: Reliving the Past?
Tsubaru returned to the infirmary to see the teen standing in front of the window as it pours outside. Bakura asked him, "Yami? What are you doing up? Is something wrong?"
