Chapter 17 - Disappearing Act
Bakura's POV
How the bloody Hell did I let this happen?! What the Hell is he doing?! I swear, whatever it is, it's probably going to get him killed! I know that it's a little petty to sit here, but acting on my own could end badly.
"Bakura," someone calls, getting my attention. Looks like I better take care of this before I lose my mind completely.
Normal POV
The white-haired thief approaches one of the officers, answering a ton of useless questions that Bakura obviously didn't have the answers to. Yami had just escaped the house and left no trace as to where he was going. It's hard to piece anything together when the only thing that was taken was a gun that he took from him earlier. There are probably two or three possibilities that he could think of that would involve a weapon of any kind and none of them seemed to be pleasant.
The questions continued to buzz inside his head. Where could have the reincarnated pharaoh had gone? He's being hunted and he's out there wandering on his own. There's no telling where he could be!
Bakura growled quietly to himself. All of these men are useless! Is this really how they get things done? It's taking too much of his time. He needs to find Yami now!
"Bakura?" began the spiky-haired blonde approaching him. "I found something from your missing boyfriend. Here."
The albino turned to take the small note that Malik had found. Looking around, he unfolded the sheet of paper and read it silently.
"Bakura," it started. "I'm sorry to have left without warning, but I am not going to sit around until this guy finds me. Instead, I'm going to hunt him down and take my revenge. I don't care what any of you say, but nothing will change my mind."
Bakura's crimson eyes widen in horror. All of this was just for revenge?! He's not one to talk, but experience says that taking revenge on someone is not going to satisfy anyone. On a couple of occasions, that's how he ended up in prison. He had to go find him.
But how was he going to slip the guards? There certainly were enough to keep him under strict house arrest if they got in his way. Even with Malik's help, there were just too many.
He glances at the window. Yami got out that way and wasn't detected. Then again, no one was watching him to make sure he didn't leave the house in any case.
Once another officer leaves him with more questions than answers, he practically screams in frustration. No one pays him any mind since he just lost someone who was close to him. Bakura simply sighs and looks around.
*Say, where did Malik go?* he wonders curiously. Now his best friend ditches him? What gives?! He couldn't take it anymore!
"Oh, that's it!" he shouts in anger. He begins walking towards the window, opening it once he draws near. "If you guys are going to be useless," Bakura started, climbing out the window as he did so. "Then I'll find him myself!"
He slides out the window before anyone could stop him and he bolts for the park. He wasn't sure how fast they were, but there certainly was no way he was going to be locked up until Yami was found, consequences be damned!
A little while later, he had approached the park, noticing how few people were wandering around outside. None of them, however, was the person he was looking for.
"Where are you, pharaoh?" he quietly mumbles, looking around. Where could he have gone?
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed that Dartz, someone who he and Yami had come across the other day, begin to wander into the forest. Bakura figured that, since Dartz had found them before, he might be able to lead him to his lover.
Carefully, he began to stalk his target, following him into the darkness of the woods. Yami had to be here somewhere. There was no telling what he would do in his current state.
He followed him turn for turn, through thorns and tree limbs. However, after following him for nearly five minutes, he had lost sight of the green-haired male. "Damn," the albino growled, looking around the area. "Where did he go?"
Bakura spent some time wandering around aimlessly before hearing indistinct chatter. One voice full of fear, another was cold as ice.
The only thing Bakura hears of the conversation before he sees for himself was the sound of a gun being loaded and Yami's monotone voice echoing the words, "Now you're going to give me answers or I'm going to start picking each of you off like flies. Which one of you wants to start?"
~A/N: Agh, so sorry, but I have been stressing pretty badly over my school life this year. Just so you all know now, there are three chapters left for this story, so there is a poll somewhere on my profile (not sure where they put it) if you guys want a sequel. I'm trying to improve my writing style and this story is one of my first ones, so I'm sorry if this isn't any good! Please Review! X3
Next Chapter:Persuasion
"Yami, please," said Bakura. "I know I shouldn't be one to talk, but revenge won't solve anything. Just hand over the gun before someone gets hurt."
