Hello, my lovely readers. It probably feels like forever since I've updated this story which is sad because this is the one place where I let go with my most insane plot lines and just try to have fun by torturing even my favorite characters. Here's Jeremy…

Chapter 4: Last Kiss Happens at Midnight

Sitting down on one of the couches in the Lockwood mansion, Jeremy Gilbert drummed his fingers on one of the arms. Ty was out. Who knew where? Jeremy figured trying to find a date for New Year's Eve since Caroline was a no go. She said she needed "me time." Whatever that meant. Personally, Jeremy did not understand why Tyler had even tried to ask Caroline out for the holiday but it wasn't his decision. Matt was out, too. It looked like he had met a girl at the Grill and things were going well.

Now, Jeremy was waiting for the hour to pass so that he could drive to Whitmore and pick Bonnie up for their romantic date. Well, Jeremy at least hoped it was romantic. He had taken some tips from Damon of all people because taking tips from Stefan just didn't seem like a good idea right now. Stefan had been single for over a year now and the last time someone mentioned anything to do with dating he went out and ate a biker. So, not something that was going to happen.

"Hello, Jeremy," Tyler called as he walked into the room and Jeremy turned to look at him. Jeremy blinked, not sure why exactly Tyler was at home.

"Hey, man. Didn't you go out like ten minutes ago with your date?" Jeremy asked his friend.

"Huh?" Tyler walked over and sat down on the couch. "No, I was just out to buy some booze. You know me. I like to drink. So, have you seen Caroline? I would love to talk to her."

Jeremy could only stare at Tyler. "Ty, you know she wants space to find herself or something. And what about that girl, Shelley, I thought that you guys were getting along," Jeremy shifted on the seat.

"Nah, I still love Caroline and totally want her back. And I don't care what I have to do to get her," Tyler said as his eyes began to glow with a feverish glint. "That's why I had to kill Stefan."

"What?" Jeremy shouted, jumping to his feet.

"Yeah, don't worry. Damon thinks that Stefan went to Europe for some of that 'me time.' Next week I plan a weekend trip with Liv and Luke to kill Klaus. Indestructible hybrid my ass. There has to be a way to kill his ass and I will find it. Hell, I don't care if I have to kill every guy on the planet to get Care back. She's the love of my life. LOVE," Tyler screamed, his fangs elongating. "You don't like Caroline, do you, Jer? Because I'll kill you, too. And Bonnie and Elena. Caroline is mine. Do you hear me, you stupid hunter freak?"

Moving backward, Jeremy held up both hands. "You know, Tyler, I think that you need therapy or yoga or something that does not involve interaction with others." As Tyler approached him, Jeremy picked up a heavy vase that was about fifty pounds. He hefted it and smashed it over Tyler's head. Unfortunately, the hybrid simply shook his head and kept coming. Jeremy picked up an ottoman and hit Tyler with it.

When Tyler just kept coming, Jeremy ran for the door. Yanking it open, Jeremy got into his Jeep right in time to be able to dodge Tyler. Getting into the vehicle, Jeremy pulled the door closed, shoving the key into the ignition, he moved his foot to the gas pedal. Looking up, Jeremy found Tyler in front of him. "Get out of the way, Ty!" Jeremy shouted. He knew the hybrid could hear him. The problem was that every instinct in him was telling him to run his friend over. Damned Hunter's instinct.

Just as Jeremy's feelings of the warm gooey friend nature began to get in the way of his desire to kill the evil bloodsucking fiend, Tyler decided to jump on the hood of the vehicle. "Damn it, Ty!" Jeremy shouted as he hit the gas pedal.

"If you want Care that's too bad because she's Mine!" Tyler screamed, punching his fist through the roof and reaching through the sheet of metal, attempting to get at Jeremy.

"Stop it," Jeremy yelled as a hand with scarily sharp fingernails swiped toward his face.

"I'll stop when you stop trying to be with my girlfriend. I'll kill you, Gilbert, and everyone you ever knew," Tyler shouted.

Jeremy slammed his foot on the break, causing Tyler to go flying off the hood of the vehicle. Getting out, Jeremy grabbed the axe that he kept in the back seat in case he ever had to kill Tyler or any other hybrids that came through town or a tree. "KLAUS!" Jeremy yelled angrily as he came to stand over the body of Tyler which had slammed into a tree. It looked like Tyler had a head injury from the way he was holding his head.

"What?" Tyler/Klaus groaned.

"I should have known the minute you started talking about Caroline. The only guy that has ever been that into her has been Klaus. And you thought that you could get away with it. Man, how stupid do I look?" Jeremy shook his head.

"Jeremy, what are you talking about?" Tyler replied. "Of course, I've always been that obsessed with Caroline. I just did a better job of hiding it. I kept my sketches in a locker under my bed."

"You know what, Klaus. I never could stand you," Jeremy said before chopping Tyler/Klaus' head off.

"Good show, mate," a voice called from behind Jeremy, clapping both his hands. Jeremy whirled around to find Klaus standing behind him with his hands laced behind his back.

"Shit," Jeremy hissed and then looked down at Tyler. "Oh, my God. But you were in Tyler's body."

Klaus shook his head. "No, young Hunter. Tyler was always insane. Think of it as your good deed for a day. Now, let me show you mine," pulling Elena out from behind his back, Klaus smiled. "This is for my brother, Kol." Shoving his hand into Elena's chest, Klaus ripped her heart out and then he tossed it aside as Jeremy stared at Klaus in horror. "Your turn."

Before Jeremy could speak, Klaus sped in front of him and was staring into his eyes. "Don't worry. I'll make it quick." Jeremy screamed as Klaus yanked his ring off and tossed it aside. It went bouncing away. For some reason a toad bounced up and swallowed it. Jeremy was so fascinated by the toad that he did not listen to Klaus' epic speech that ended with the crying due to the loss of his brother. Jeremy finally paid attention when Klaus reached inside his chest cavity.

Squeezing his eyes shut, Jeremy waited for the pain to begin when Klaus withdrew his hand and began to scream. "Hey, jackass. Stay away from my boyfriend," Bonnie yelled as she stormed forward with the leaves blasting away like they were in the middle of a wind tunnel. As Bonnie's smile twisted, her hair began to stick out like Stefan's if he grew it out another two inches. All Jeremy could think about was taking her back to her dorm room and playing X-Box.

"Stop. I give up. I finally killed the doppleganger. That is enough for one season," Klaus mumbled, trying to crawl away but Bonnie spun in a slow circle in her ballet flats as an oddly fitting rendition of the music from Swan Lake played in the background.

"Get back here," Bonnie demanded. "Since all the other guys that Caroline would date are dead she needs you. It's New Year's and someone has to kiss her. Otherwise she won't shut the hell up all night and Jeremy complains when I fall asleep when we're playing X-Box."

"Tell me, Bennett witch, is X-Box code for something a lot more interesting and do you ever tape these events because there is man in New Orleans who might like to purchase that type of thing," Klaus proposed, forcing himself to his feet.

Bonnie simply gaped at Klaus as she yanked a hair brush out of her clutch and combed her hair. "I have no idea what you're talking about, you perv," she said while spreading toothpaste on a toothbrush and then spitting on Jeremy's shoes. Bonnie then began to pull her clothes off to Jeremy's horror as Klaus whipped out his phone and began to video tape the witch.

Bonnie did not pay any attention to Klaus while Jeremy pulled his shirt off because someone was holding up a sign and pointing to where it said, "Jeremy takes his shirt off." He bent down to cover Bonnie when Klaus began to yell at him.

"Get out of the way," Klaus ordered Jeremy. "You're making the value of this tape dwindle unless you want to take your pants off too," the Original Hybrid shouted, waving his arm about.

"Found it," Bonnie said. Blowing dirt off an ancient looking robe, Bonnie wrapped herself in it as Klaus sighed.

"Bloody worthless. Now, were we in agreement about the X-Box video because I'm about to be in the family way and I have no idea how much a possible exorcism for an infant might cost but I have heard that it is steep," Klaus was saying when Bonnie grabbed Jeremy by the shoulders.

"Jeremy, you have to listen to me," Bonnie began but she had forgotten to pull the robe closed and Jeremy's brain could not process the information.

Sighing, Bonnie picked up a tree branch and slapped Jeremy with it. Dropping to the forest floor, Jeremy placed a hand to the bloody gash. "Bonnie, what the hell!" he shouted as blood ran down the side of his face.

"They're coming, Jeremy. We need to go before they get here," Bonnie shouted, looking around in fear and then she gasped. "Oh, God. It's too late. Cover your eyes," she screamed in terror when out of the woods came Elena and Stefan.

"Oh, my God. I thought you guys were dead," Jeremy exclaimed in relief.

"No, that was the seventh doppleganger," Elena explained brightly.

"Yeah, I felt really bad about Tyler killing mine," Stefan added. "But I had to go across town to get milk."

"I'm just so glad that you're both still alive," Jeremy said when Bonnie began to chant and then Elena and Stefan turned to her with glowing red eyes.

"Join us, Bonnie," Elena and Stefan said with wide grins that made Jeremy a little frightened. But he had had to deal with Silas so that there was not much that scared him.

"Hello, Jeremy," a voice called from behind Jeremy and Jeremy turned to find Silas behind him. "Don't you want to join us?"

"What?" Jeremy gasped as Silas continued to grin as his own eyes turned red. "What do you mean 'join you?'

"Join us," a group chanted as not only dopplegangers of Stefan and Elena appeared but Damon, Caroline, Matt, Tyler, Klaus, Rebekah, Kol, Elijah, the brother that Jeremy could never remember the name of and their mailman came pouring into the woods.

"Aaaagh," Jeremy screamed in terror. He had died and come back to life. Had to deal with dead vampire/ghost girlfriends. There was the whole dead parents, dead aunt, dead sister and dead father figure/mentor. But nothing could compare to the horror of being asked to become a doppleganger. "No. You can do anything to me that you want. Just not that!"

"Anything?" Klaus asked, pulling out his phone again and aiming it at Jeremy. "Did I mention that Caroline and I had sex against that tree you're leaning against?" Jeremy screamed and moved. "Yes, and that one, too. And that one. Oh, yes, that one to your left is a remarkably sturdy one."

"Help me," Jeremy screamed and then Bonnie was there, pulling him away from the doppplegangers that were reaching for him. They ran through the woods as fast as they could while the dopplegangers chased them.

"Jeremy, I thought Hunter's had super abilities but you run like a girl," Bonnie shouted. Jeremy turned to glare at his girlfriend who was riding a broomstick and wearing green makeup for some reason. "I'll get you and your little dog too, my pretty," Bonnie announced and then began to cackle when she slammed into a tree.

Feeling guilty, Jeremy continued to run without Bonnie by his side. Then he felt exhaustion setting in and he fell to his knees. "Jeremy," a familiar voice croaked and Jeremy looked over to see Katherine making her way toward him. She looked pale and sickly. "Jeremy, please help me," she called, making her way closer to Jeremy.

Jeremy did not want to be anywhere near anymore dopplegangers, most especially Katherine. "You're supposed to be dead."

Katherine smirked back at him. "You know that I don't play by the rules. I convinced the guy, because of course it would be a guy, to let me out on good behavior. Now, I need help. Where's Bonnie?"

"She's," Jeremy looked behind him and felt another guilty twinge. "She's looking for Caroline. They wanted to match their accessories."

"Sure," Katherine said as she moved toward Jeremy. "You know there is a rumor that you like vampire/ghosts, is that true?" Jeremy could not think of anything to say in return when Katherine grabbed him by the shirt collar. "Let's pretend it's midnight."

"No," Jeremy protested. "That would be like kissing my sister."

"Oh, get over it," Katherine snapped and kissed Jeremy who began to gag. When she was done, Katherine sighed while Jeremy crumpled to the ground. "You know the deal about how I could get out the dark world was that I had to send the spirit of a young Hunter there. And you know my motto: If it comes down to you and me I will always choose me."

Jeremy looked up when he entered the dark world and gasped. There was that brother of Klaus' that he could not remember the name of. "What's your name again?" he asked of the man who nodded at him.

"Finn," the man said. "But please keep it down. Mother is speaking and she hates it when others interrupt her speeches."

Jeremy stopped talking to listen to Esther lecture them on proper cleaning of graveyards, to always say "please and thank you to elders" before and after a sacrifice and to remember that their number one target when they got to New Orleans was Klaus. She held up a picture of Mickey Mouse to show them who the target looked like. "Any questions?" Esther asked and no one replied. "Good. Then we will return on October 2, 2014. Have a good day and remember to scrub behind your ears." Now, Jeremy knew he was in hell.

Okay, so that's the chapter. I hope to update sometime before the premiere of TVD. Elijah's up next. Please, let me know who should be up next and remember that you can pick anyone who has not already been mocked (tortured).
