Hello, my lovely readers. I did something here I rarely do—I re-wrote the chapter because when I wrote the first one, I was in a really awful mood and The Hollow plot did not help that fact. I hope you like this one better. On with the show…

Chapter 12: Out of Body, Out of My Mind

Spell. Davina Claire needed a powerful spell to defeat the likes of Klaus Mikaelson. He was the worst of them. If only she could just look through her room and a spell that could be used to defeat him would appear. Glaring at her stupid attic room—where stupid Marcel kept her—Davina waited for something to happen.

And as if someone heard her wishes, a spell began to appear on a blank canvas she'd meant to draw a picture of a threat to stupid Marcel on. Not that he was stupid. She really loved him. If only he'd let her go out and play with kids her own age, instead of keeping her in this attic with creepy, daggered Elijah Mikaelson, who she could swear kept looking at her from his closed coffin.

Shivering, Davina refused to look over her shoulder at Elijah's coffin—more than about a hundred times in the space of ten seconds. Well, he wouldn't stop her. She would use this spell to defeat Klaus and to send Rebekah away.

"Would you slow down?" Davina demanded, glaring at the spell which came whizzing along the canvas before disappearing.

"Sorry," a male voice huffed.

"Who's there?" Davina demanded, whirling around to see the ghostly shape of a younger-looking Elijah. Although Davina thought he was kind of hot, she decided that she should throw him across the room. Narrowing her eyes, Davina willed the newcomer across the room, just like his rude sister.

However, the man, who looked+somewhatlike Elijah—minus the stuffy suits—did not move an inch. Instead, he offered Davina a slow grin. "Come, now, darling, you must have known that would not work on a ghost."

"It's worth a try," Davina said, her guard dropping for a moment, and she offered the ghost Mikaelson a smile. "So, which one are you?"

"The intelligent, handsome one," he retorted with another grin. Man, this guy made her grin like an idiot, and she thought she might be drooling, just a tiny bit. Stupid teenage hormones.

Collecting herself, and behaving wiser than her years—or so she hoped—Davina turned stiffly toward the canvas. "Can you send the spell again?"

The man came over. "I can do you one better," he breathed into her ear and Davina shivered when he placed a hand on her shoulder. Wind rushed through the room, and Davina just knew Elijah was sitting up in his coffin, about to run out the door. Rolling her eyes, she closed them tight and allowed her new partner-in-crime to take the wheel of her mind.

"Thank you, Davina Claire," he whispered, and she saw him looking at an old book before a woman entered the hut.

"Kol, do not snoop in my grimiore," she told him, shaking her head with a smile.

"Sorry, mother," Kol replied with an impish grin before the seven-year-old version of Davina's ghost crush ripped out the page and darted out of the hut.

"Do you see the spell?" Kol inquired.

"Yes," Davina nodded, smiling.

Opening her eyes, Davina turned, and hugged Kol. She noted that Elijah had run off. Marcel might be pissed off if he came up here and found Elijah gone. But Davina didn't care. All she cared about was that she had a spell to end Klaus with. "Thank you, Kol."
"Thank me when this is all over," Kol replied, kissing her on the cheek and disappearing.

Some part of Davina knew that Kol probably wanted something in return, but she was too excited about preforming her new spell. Moving around her room, she grabbed a bowl, some herbs and poured some of her own blood into a bowl. That should be all she needed. What the hell, she might only need her blood to perform this spell. Most spells only needed blood, or for someone to die, or some weird thing, found on the other side of the world, or the ash of an ancient dead person, no big deal.

Sitting on her bed, Davina began to chant in Latin, backward. It always made more sense to say the spell in reverse once, in French twice, and in Romanian a third time, just for luck.

When she had finished, Davina opened her eyes and smiled. She felt much better, and she was sure that Klaus must be dead by now.

Sighing, Davina decided to take a walk outside. She jumped off the side of her bed and walked down into the church. Father Kieran was sweeping the floor. "Hello, Davina," he greeted her with a nod.

"Hello, Father," Davina replied, waving and practically skipped out of the church.

Outside she noted that no one looked happier than they did before. In fact, Davina saw a few people running down the streets, screaming. Suddenly Klaus appeared at the end of the street. "YOU!" he thundered at Davina, lifting a finger and pointing it at her. "I'm going to kill you, little witch!" he thundered.

"You're supposed to be dead!" Davina shouted back, striding toward him. She knew she could end him. Stupid vampire-wolf thing. Stomping toward him, she intended on sending him flying into the Mississippi.

Klaus stopped a foot from her, sizing her up. "You don't look all that scary to me."

"Neither do you," Davina spat back. In fact, Davina wondered why she had wasted a perfectly good spell on the likes of this so-called "major" villain. Davina had seen scarier Halloween pumpkins than Klaus Mikaelson. He looked like her high school science teacher, minus the pocket protector.

Eying each other, Klaus and Davina circled around each other. She almost felt like she should be looking for a high tower and about to draw her weapon, when something began to feel very, very wrong.

"Do you feel that?" Klaus demanded, dropping to his knees as Davina shook her head because five other Klaus were all asking the same question.

"Feel what?" Davina retorted and then she dropped to the ground.

When she opened her eyes, Davina sat up and stared into her own eyes. "What the hell?" she cried.

"My sentiments exactly," Klaus snapped, folding his arms over his chest and sighing. "It was bad enough being a teenager the first time. I do not wish to be a teen girl," her own mouth told her.

"Klaus?" Davina demanded, narrowing (whose eyes?)

Klaus nodded her head. "Yes. Who in the bloody hell did this to us?"

"Um," Davina felt thoughtful before she growled out. "Kol."

"Kol?" Klaus shouted, getting to Davina's feet and glaring down the road. "I will find him and kill him."

"You can't. He's already dead," Davina snapped.

"Well, then I'll use your powers to bring him back. And then I will kill him," Klaus growled, striding down the road.

Davina forced herself to Klaus' feet. "You can't expose me to the witches. They'll kill me. I mean you." She shook her head, feeling confused.

"So, what am I to do?" Klaus demanded.

"Go back to your room," Davina pointed at the attic.

"I do not think so," Klaus shook Davina's head.

Gritting her borrowed teeth, Davina grabbed her body and sped them up to the attic and shoved Klaus down on the bed. "Just draw something and wait for Marcel and act normal."

"Easy for you to say," Klaus snapped and rubbed Davina's arms. "That hurt. What the hell?" He got to his feet and moved to the canvas before looking around the room. "I think I have that paint set at home."

"How nice for you," Davina snapped. "I have to figure out how to fix this."

"Why don't you do that," Klaus snapped.

Klaus' phone rang and Davina removed it. "Rebekah?" she said, looking at Klaus.

"No, it's Josh. How did I get stuck in your sister's body?" an unfamiliar voice demanded.

"Who's Josh?" Davina asked Klaus.

"A minion," Klaus replied. "Do you have some blood for me to work with?"

Davina nodded at the bowl she'd used before. "Why don't you come over?"

"Fine. Hayley's coming with me," Josh said, sounding stressed.

Soon the attic that should have so very few people in it, had way too many people in it. "So, tell me, who is who again?" Davina asked, sitting down on her bed, beside Klaus, who had decided to change her dress about five times before settling on a summery one, which did not look "too cheap."

Marcel held up his hand and began to gurgle at them. "Okay. So, that's the unborn tri-brid baby?" Davina looked to the others for an answer before Marcel sat down on the floor and began to wail.

"There, there," Father Kieran said, patting Marcel's head as he attempted to get Father Kieran to pick him up.

"Elijah, just hold him. I mean her. Is it a her?" Klaus looked disgusted, depressed, confused, and then went over to pat Marcel on the head while glaring at "Hayley," who was actually Elijah, for right now.

"And Hayley is where?" Davina looked around them.

"Over here," Father Kieran held up his hand, or her hand? Oh, boy.

"Which means Marcel is?" Davina waited for it, when a man with black hair came into the room and glowered at them. "That would be me. Sorry. I'm wearing Damon Salvatore's face."

"Who?" Davina sighed, shaking her head. "Just tell me one of you is Kol! So, we can fix this!" She just wanted to get back to her own body.

"That would be me," A blonde girl said, holding up a hand.

"And you are?" Davina demanded.

"Caroline!" Klaus leapt to his feet and moved toward the girl's body.

"Not Caroline," Kol snapped. "Your brother, Kol. Lucky me, I picked the right body to be in."

Klaus looked disgusted. "If you are in Caroline's body, who is in yours?"

"I'm still dead and bloody ash," Kol complained. "So, no one is in my bloody body."

"Where is Caroline?" Klaus snapped.

"Over here," another voice called and everyone turned to see a blonde girl who Davina thought might be Father Kieran's niece. "Thankfully, it's like nothing's changed. Only my eyes are green, I'm human and I have a low-paying job. I miss being a vampire. Can someone turn me?"

"NO!" Elijah cried.

"Camille?" Hayley cried back, looking worried.

"Yeah." Cami shrugged. "I kind of like the idea of finding out how I'll be treated as a man, but I'm not in love with the being-a-man-part."

Kol let out a laugh before everyone turned to glare at him.

"Shut up, Kol!" Everyone yelled at Kol.

"Davina and Kol, you will find a way to switch us back," Klaus snarled, and, again, Davina could not deal with her own face contracting into a Klaus expression—not that she knew what Klaus expressions were before—but she was a quick study.

"And what are the rest of us supposed to be doing in the meantime?" Hayley demanded, glaring at Klaus.

Klaus huffed, glaring back with a look like it was obvious. "You, stay put. Take care of that," Klaus waved Davina's hand in disgust at the unborn baby's spirit lodged inside the body of his over a hundred-year-old, adopted male child who had begun to suck his thumb and rock back and forth. Rolling his eyes, Klaus continued. "And Elijah, be a dear and do what you do best-protect my heir. I will return shortly."

Davina felt the desire to find a camera or to begin sketching everyone in their current state. However, as much as she hated to admit it, Klaus was right. They needed to reverse the spell, before someone got hurt. But he was wrong about something else.

Klaus began to march Davina's body out of the room when Davina sped in front of him and grabbed him by the arms. "You're not going anywhere," she snarled. And, oh, she felt Klaus' fangs pop out and she could smell her own blood pumping through her veins. Damn. She was hungry. Would it be wrong to bite herself? Yes! Very wrong. Stupid hybrid instincts. "You can't leave. The witches are after me."

"Get out of my way!" Klaus shouted back. He raised a hand and Davina let out a cry and flew into the hallway. That wasn't fair, having her own powers used against her.

Klaus grinned. "I do believe that I won't mind having these new powers after all. Take care of my body while I'm gone," he called over Davina's shoulder.

Struggling to her borrowed feet, Davina growled. "You're not leaving this church!" she shouted after Klaus. He was not going to get her killed and pop back into his own body. And if she had to kick her own ass, so be it.

"D, chill," a hand came down on her shoulder and Davina turned to face Marcel in the unfamiliar body of a hot vamp.

"No, Marcel. Klaus is going to get me killed!" Davina cried.

Marcel sighed. "He's Klaus. He'll figure out how to not get you killed. Okay. He's probably going out there to kind Rebekah. If it will make you feel better, I'll tag along, make sure he doesn't do anything Klaus-like." Marcel offered her a smile and Davina sighed.

"Be careful," Davina said, placing a hand on Marcel's arm.

Nodding, Marcel disappeared and Davina was left with a pregnant Elijah who kept giving unborn tri-brid-stuck in a vamp's body dubious looks. Hayley had ditched Father's Kieran's collar and sat down, touching her flat, borrowed stomach every once in awhile before frowning.

"Tell us you can think of a way to fix this?" Hayley cried, looking at Davina who turned to Kol.

"Kol?" Davina realized that Kol was missing. "Damn it, Kol!" Continuing to search the room with her new, enhanced eye sight, Davina realized that Kol was nowhere to be seen.

Letting out a long sigh, Davina turned to those who remained in the attic. "Look, I'm going to go look for Kol. He helped me make this mess. And he's going to help me fix it."

Without another word, Davina headed out of the room—not before she heard Hayley say "It may be Davina in Klaus' body, but it sounds a lot like Klaus, in Klaus' body."

"Yes it does," Elijah had surmised and Davina rolled her eyes. She would show them. She was smarter than Klaus. She would fix this new drama, then she would find way to defeat him. All she had to do was to place him inside the body of an enemy that they needed to get rid of.

Davina did not have to go far to find Kol. He was at Rousseau's, having a drink and flirting with a college girl. "Excuse me, love. I need to have word with my… Caroline." Davina said, offering the college girl a smirk which apparently had enough of an underlying threat to it that the girl grabbed her purse and made for the door.

"Hey!" Kol cried, pushing his empty shot glass toward the bartender and nodding. "You just scared off my dinner. You might not be Nik, but you act a bit like him. Not what I look for in a bird."

"A bird?" Davina glared daggers into Kol. If only she had one. Nope. That wouldn't work on him. Sighing, she decided to go for one better. When Kol's new drink hit the bar, Davina grabbed it and tossed it back. She found she liked the feeling it gave her and held up a finger for another.

"Now that is more like it," Kol waited for the bartender to catch Caroline's eye.

Soon Davina and Kol were on top of the bar, dancing around, without a care in the world. The other patrons were encouraging them and Davina wondered if maybe she could tolerate being in Klaus' body for a bit longer.

Taking Davina by the hand, Kol hopped down off the bar and Davina followed suit. "You know the one thing I never did, in all of my life?" Kol inquired, grinning at Davina.

"Um?" Davina hummed, feeling happy.

"Had sex as a woman. Of course, we'll need to pop you into the body of a man that does not have my brother's face. Because my turn-offs include being sober, Mystic Falls, and all of its inhabitants and trying to have relations with people who look like my family.

Davina let out a giggle. "You're right. So, we can reverse engineer the spell, and get me back into my own body, but place Klaus in someone else's body. Preferably one of the witches who is trying to kill me. That way, we can kill Klaus."

Kol paused for a second. "Kill? My brother? Maim. Torment. Torture. Kill? Love, you didn't think I would honestly kill my own flesh and blood, did you? Other than Finn. But no one would miss him."

Davina glared at Kol. "You want to return to the land of the living?" Kol nodded. "Well, than you can help me kill Klaus, or you can stay on The Other Side, forever." Turning Klaus' back on Kol, Davina stomped away. She would figure out how to take care of Klaus without Kol.

Striding through the quarter, Davina became aware of being stalked by someone who was chanting. "Are you kidding me?" Davina snapped. She stopped and whirled on Klaus' heel to find Monique.

"Monique!" Davina cried out. "Oh, my God! How did you come back?" In her excitement, Davina did not think about the possibility of Monique's being anyone other than who she thought was.

"I…" Monique paused before smiling in a way that made Davina feel kind of creeped out but she decided to ignore her instincts. "Your spell. It brought me back," she said brightly. "Now, come. We must go find mother. I mean, our friends."

Davina took a step back. Something about what Monique just said did not sound right. "Okay. I think I should go…somewhere else." Without her powers, she did not know if she really stood a chance against her friend.

"You're not going anywhere," Monique growled and Davina let out a scream when Monique raised her hand and Davina fell to Klaus' knees.

"Leave her alone!" Kol shouted and Davina caught sight of him just before Monique turned to him.

"You should mind your own business, brother!" Monique cried out. Now, Davina knew who Monique was.

"Finn!" Davina and Kol shouted at the same time as Kol sank to Caroline's knees.

Finn looked from one of them to the other. "You know why no one liked me? Because I was never allowed to be funny, or have a girlfriend."

"You had Sage?" Kol ground out.

"Yeah?" Finn shouted back. "I had Sage. Does five minutes count? We could have had real potential. I could have had a real story arc. But, no, I couldn't have any real screen time. It's all Klaus this. And Klaus that. What is Klaus doing? Who is Klaus going to do? I could have had my own show. I could have been evil, and smart, and funny. I never got a chance!" Finn's tantrum gave Davina just enough time to stand up and speed over to snap Monique's neck.

"I don't think anyone would have tuned in for that show," Kol said, eyeing Finn-que's limp body.

Finn's eyes popped open. "You never know what networks will air, do you?"

"Oh, shut up!" Klaus came striding down the street and snapped Monique's head off her body.

"Did you have to do that?" Davina demanded.

"No. It was fun," Klaus snapped. "That is why I had my own show. Because murders with whimsy means high ratings, or so I've heard. Enough about me. Let's get you back to your proper body, so I can end you spectacularly."

Davina nodded and they returned to the attic. They had brought more displaced supernatural creatures who wanted to be back in their own bodies.

Davina and Kol spent the next forty-eight hours returning everyone back to who they should be.

"Right. That should be everyone," Kol said, dusting his hands off.

"Ahem," Klaus looked at Kol who looked down.

"Oh, yes, you'd like me to return Caroline back to her own body, yes?" Kol smirked at Klaus.

Klaus nodded. "Yes. Brother, and be quick about it. I have people to threaten."

Kol looked at Davina. "Right then, as you wish."

Klaus watched them closely. "Do not try anything stupid, Kol," he snarled.

"Wouldn't think of it," Kol retorted.

"Oh, thank God," Caroline Forbes gasped, looking down at her own body.

Davina looked at Klaus. "We will see you again, I trust?" He smirked at Caroline who smirked back before she disappeared.

"Kol?" Davina whispered when Caroline was gone.

"Yes, love," Klaus' lips moved but the look on his face was all Kol.

Davina threw her arms around him. "Where did you send him?"

"To that last place he'd ever want to be," Kol told her before kissing her lightly. "I promise I will be back. Right now I must make my appearances. Mustn't allow others to become suspicious, now can we?"

"No," Davina shook her head, taking a step back. She'd gotten rid of Klaus and had helped Kol come back. Things could not be better.

~0~

Three years later, Davina and Kol had decided to go on a trip together. Elijah and Hayley seemed shocked to find them growing closer over the years. At first they had to keep up the ruse of hating each other, but in the end, they pretended that Klaus had fallen for the witch. And Elijah and Hayley could not judge them considering their shocking pairing.

Everyone was happy.

Almost everyone.

On a walk through the streets of Paris, they encountered a pissed off Caroline Forbes. "Klaus would not stop stalking me for some high school girl!" she shouted at Kol.

"You were a high school girl," Kol argued.

Caroline growled at them. "You're going to get what you both deserve," she warned them.

"Good-bye, Caroline," Kol said, taking Davina's hand and they walked away.

The next day, Davina woke up to find a strange man in their hotel room. "Who the hell are you?" she demanded. "Kol?"

"Kol can't help you, witch," the man snarled at her. Then he held up a stake. "I have already sent him back to say hello to Niklaus in hell."

Davina shrieked and tried to use her powers but they were useless. Something prevented her from using them. Manacles. Someone had slapped a pair of manacles on her. The man stalked toward her with the stake. "I'm not a vampire!" Davina cried out.

"Aren't you?" the man replied and Davina found that she could feel fangs beginning to stick out in her mouth. "What the hell?" she cried out. Then the man staked her.

Waking up, Davina groaned. "Am I dead, again? Does this storyline never get old?"

Davina began to walk down the streets of Paris when she encountered Kol. "Kol!"

Kol turned and moved to her, scooping her up in his arms. "Hello, Davina darling."

"Where is Klaus?" Davina demanded.

"Oh, he's made a deal with Katherine Pierce. Apparently they signed on for an on-line series together. Go figure." Kol brushed her hair back from her face. "I missed you, love."

"A man killed me, and I don't know who he is," Davina said.

"Father. He's always killing, or trying to kill someone. Family. Family friends. Family pets. It's all the same to him. Enough about him. Let's begin talking to the networks about our own spin-off. I am sure that fans would like to see a wedding, babies and what kind of trouble we can get into," Kol suggested. "What do you think?"

"I'm in," Davina replied. "Although I would like a raise. And a bigger part. How about a fruit basket…"
