Kikyko and InuYasha: Forgive me Kikyko

Chapter 15

"InuYasha," mother said to father. Kikyko slept in her arms. Sango and Miroku shuffled towards father.

Father looked down at Kikyko and then to all of us.

"Go, take the kids and go home..." he said to us. His voice was shaking. I could tell dad was scared, or angry... his tone gave it away.

"Dad come home with us," I said to him.

Father shifted to his feet. "InuYasha, you were not in your right mind, put it behind you and allow yourself to forget what happened," Miroku said to him touching his shoulder. Dad shrugged him off.

Sesshomaru had disappeared, I looked around for him to thank him for what he did. Mother held Kikyko in her arms and cradled her as Sango pulled out a blanket from her wrapped bag and draped it over Kikyko.

"Kagome, we should take her home, she needs to recover her strength," Sango said to mother. I looked to mom then to dad who looked like he was thinking, or in deep thought, I wasn't sure.

"Dad?" I said coming towards him. He shifted his eyes to me.

"Sister is okay, please don't be mad," I said to him.

"Miroku, take my family home..." father said to him. He didn't look at me, he just stared at his hands. I sighed deeply and dragged my feet towards everyone.

"So be it, but hear my words InuYasha, you were not in your state of mind, Kikyko will forgive you..." he said to him, as he tapped his staff to the ground. Mother sighed and turned away from father.

"Let's go Inuko," she said to me. I looked to dad and followed mom, Miroku and Sango.

Morning had shone through our small home, father hadn't returned yet. I wasn't even sure where he went, he was upset I could tell, he hurt Kikyko and I know father, he wouldn't accept what he had done.

"Momma," Kikyko's voice cracked as she opened her eyes.

"Kiki, I'm right here," mom said to her as she rubbed a cool cloth over her face.

I leaned over Kikyko, her eyes wandered to me.

"Where's papa?" she asked sitting up.

"He's not home yet sweetie, you need to rest. How about I make you and Inuko something yummy to eat," mom said changing the subject. Kikyko looked to me then to the door and shifted her kimono over her shoulders.

"Inuko..." she said her eyes affixed to the door.

"Yeah?" I said to her taking off my haori, I drapped it over her shoulders. She shifted her eyes to me.

"Why did papa hurt me?" she asked her hands rubbed her arms.

"This is why we can't take dad's Tetsusaiga Kiki...dad can't be parted from it, dad changes to a demon without it." I said to her.

She sighed deeply and diverted her eyes to the sheets.

"Hey Kiki," I said to her as mother shuffled around our small home looking for ingredients for the pot that was boiling.

"Yeah?" she said and looked at me.

"Let's go outside and play, mom put the sheets up on the line," I said to her and smiled. We always play this silly game and hide between the sheets when they hung on the line, mom hates it, because sometimes we'd pull the sheets off and wear them pretending to be demons.

She beamed a huge smile and pulled my haori off her shoulders handing it to me. She jumped to her feet and looked at me.

"Ahhh," she shouted and ran out the back door. I laughed and chased after her.

"What the... crazy kids," mother said watching us. I could tell Kikyko startled her, she shook her head and bent to her basket.

"Aaah demon," Kikyko shouted as she ran through the sheets, I pulled one down and put it over my head chasing her.

"I just did those," I heard mother's agitated voice. I was surprised she didn't run outside after us and yell at us.

"Ha ha, I'm going to get you," I mumbled through the sheets. Kikyko hid behind the water well and looked at me.

"Kagome," I heard father's voice in the house, I cocked my head to the side. I wasn't sure if it was him or not, I couldn't see through the sheets. But I knew Kikyko wasn't happy and I didn't want her to be scared of father. So I pretended not to notice.

"InuYasha, we were so worried," mother's voiced replied.

"Sorry, I needed some time to think..." he said to her. She ran to him and hugged him.

"Ew gross," I said sliding the sheet off my head.

"Why do they do that... that's so sick, couldn't they wait until we are old and out of the house,"I said to myself. Dad and mom were kissing again and I hated it.

"Here," he said to her handing her a flower.

"InuYasha," mom smiled and smelt it.

"Is she okay, Kikyko? Is she okay?" father asked holding mother close to him.

"She's okay InuYasha, she doesn't understand your transformation like we do, she was very worried about you this morning," mother said to him.

"I'm so sorry Kagome, I wasn't...I would've never hurt her, or you... or Inuko," he said to her.

Mother hugged him.

"She needs to know that InuYasha..." mother said to father. I lifted an eyebrow and sighed deeply.

"Again ew," I said to myself. Why do they do that stuff!?

"INUKO," Kikyko shouted at me.

"Ah, what?" she startled me. I looked at her, she was beaming a huge smile.

"What is it?" I said to her holding a hand to my chest.

"Tomorrows my birthday," she reminded me.

"Well yeah I know that,"I said to her rubbing my head.

I saw her eyes divert to the door. I turned my head and looked.

"Papa?" she said looking at him.

Dad leaned against the house looking at us. I didn't even notice him there.

"PAPA," Kikyko's shouted, she dropped her sheets and ran to him. I smiled as he picked her up and threw her in to the air.

"Mom's going to be mad that you messed up the sheets again," he said to her. She giggled and nuzzeled dad. I sighed deeply and bent down picking up the sheets.

"How about we go for a walk?" dad said to her, she beamed a huge smile and nodded.

"Inuko want to join us?" father asked me putting Kikyko down.

"Nope,"I said picking up the sheets.

"Fine then clean up those sheets before your mother gets mad at you for pulling them down,"father said to me as Kikyko ran around me.

"Ah, Kiki,"I said as she threw a sheet to the air. I sighed deeply. She's really stupid!

"BYE INUKO,"she shouted at me running through the house.

"She's so crazy..." I said noticing father disappear after her.

"Kagome," I heard dad say in the house. I shifted my feet to the door to listen.

"I'm taking Kikyko out for a while," he said to her. Mother bent down to Kiki who was jumping up in down in excitement. "She is crazy, excited over nothing... wow,"I said and wrapped the sheets over my arms.

"Have fun," mom said to her and patted her head.

"Mom,"I said coming through the door with the sheets.

"Bye Inuko,"dad said to me as he followed after Kikyko.

"AAAHHHHHHHHH, DAD... HELP!" I shouted.

"Hahaha, momma smothered Inuko again,"Kikyko laughed looking at the house.

Dad held his hand out to Kikyko, she reached her hand out.

"Where are we going papa?" she asked as she hummed lifting her kimono with one hand so she wouldn't trip.

"I thought we'd go for a walk then, and maybe have a talk," he said to her. She looked up at him and beamed. Kikyko hummed to herself as she and father walked through the village. The entire village was out and about, everyone was bustling and working.

Some farmers saw Kikyko and father and waved at them from the rice fields. Kikyko laughed and waved.

"Papa what are rice fields?" she asked. Father looked at her and sighed shaking his head.

"Kikyko hi," Hakura and Kira said to her. They were out with Sango and their brothers, while Miroku was working.

"InuYasha, everything okay?" Sango asked cautiously.

"Hey Sango, yeah sorry if I worried everyone," he said as he diverted his eyes to the girls chattering.

"Hi Kikyko," Sango bent down to her.

"Hi," she smiled and shook her hands with Koji's.

"We were just heading to your home InuYasha," Sango said to him as the girls chatted.

"Kagome and Inuko are home, I thought I'd take Kikyko for a walk," he said to her. Sango seemed very cautious of father and very concerned. She smiled and nodded.

"Come on girls," she said to the twins.

"BYE KIKI," both girls shouted as they walked around her.

"Papa?" Kikyko said as they walked through the merchant shops, she leaned in towards a shop where a man was mixing cotton on a stick.

"Yeah?" dad replied to her.

"I want some of that," she said stretching on her toes to see what the man was doing.

Father picked her up so she could see.

"AAAH, that looks so yummy... what is it?" she said watching the man work.

"Hahha, this is called cotton candy on a stick... neh child, would you care to try?" he said pulling a piece and handing it to her.

"YEAH," she shouted shoving the cotton in her mouth.

Father shook his head and smiled.

"Papa I want one," she beamed again. The man laughed as father paid for the candy.

"Yay," she said excited pulling the cotton off the stick.

"Papa, want some?" she asked holding her half eaten stick to the air. Father bent down to her and rubbed her head.

"You eat it," he said to her. She smiled and took a large piece of cotton off the stick and shoved it into her mouth.

"Hahaha, take it easy there kid," he said to her.

"When your done, how about we go for a run," dad said to her again watching her as she pulled the rest of the cotton off the stick.

"OKAY," she mumbled. He smiled as they walked out of the village towards the woods.

"I'm done," she said holding up the stick.

Dad smiled and picked her up. She loved going for a run with father, he would put her on his back and just run with her. She would laugh and giggle as father ran out of the village and through the forest.

"Yay," she shouted throwing her hands to the air.

Father slowed his pace when the bone eaters well came in to his view.

"Papa, why did you stop?" Kikyko asked looking to the well. He bent down to let Kikyko jump off his back.

"I thought we'd have a little talk," he said to her.

"Wow a well," she said walking towards it.

"Wow," she said leaning over the well.

"Woah there," father said grabbing her.

"Awwww,I wanted to look in..." she said.

"No Kiki, I don't want you to fall in. Why don't you come sit with me," he said to her picking her up. He leapt to a tree and pulled her to his lap.

"Wooowww, we are so high up," she said looking to the sky.

"Kiki?" father said to her.

She turned her head and looked at him.

"Do you understand why taking Tetsusaiga is dangerous?" father asked her rubbing her head.

"I'm sorry papa, are you mad at me?" she asked, her eyes filled with tears.

Father pulled her close to him.

"I'm not mad, but... Kiki I hurt you, I could have done worse, if it wasn't for your mother stopping me..." father said rubbing her head.

She touched her arms where father had grabbed her.

"I was scared papa, you did not know me... I was scared," she said rubbing her arms.

"I'm so sorry Kikyko, you and Inuko are so special to me... I don't know what I would have done if... " he said nuzzeling her. She grabbed on to father's haori.

"Please next time we tell you not to touch our weapons... don't," he said to her hugging her.

"I'm sorry papa, Kiki did this... I make you into a demon," she mumbled her words.

Father sighed deeply.

"I'm the one who's sorry... just next time... please listen to us,"he said touching her face.

"You do understand that the Tetsusaiga controls my powers," he said to her rubbing her face. She looked at him curious.

"Promise next time Kiki, you won't touch the Tetsusaiga," he said to her. She held out her pinky. He looked at her and chuckled locking his pinky with hers.

"I promise papa," She nodded and looked to the sky.

"The sky is orange," she said noticing the sun slowly disappear.

Father jumped down from the tree, and put Kikyko on the grass.

"LOOK LOOK," she shouted pointing to the white butterflies that filled the sky, when the sun sets white butterflies fly out of the grass and fill the air.

"Aaahhh ahahh," she would shout and giggle. She ran through the grass chasing the butterflies trying to catch them.

Father watched Kikyko play and jump through the butterflies as the sky fell into a vibrent color.

"There's so many," she shouted and extended her arms out trying to catch them.

"Kiki, come on lets head home," he said to her shfiting to his feet.

"Awe, why?" she tapped her hands on her kimono.

"The whole day is gone...it'll be dark soo," he said to her crossing his arms.

"Awe," she said disappointed, she sighed and shuffled her feet through the grass.

He reached for her hand.

"Mom, dad and Kiki arn't home yet," I said rubbing my head with a towel.

"I'm sure everythings just fine Inuko, they are probably on their way back now as we speak," mother said. I think she was trying to comfort me. I mean dad nearly killed Kikyko last night and that really scared me. I was so worried about her I didn't want her to leave today. But dad seemed like he was back to his old self, at least I hoped so.

"They're home," I said sniffing the air. I smelt Kikyko's sent outside. Mother shifted to her feet and put the white sheets down.

She went outside to greet them. I followed her and leaned near the door, to listen.

"Hey," father said to her. Kikyko had fallen asleep on his back.

"Here I'll take her," she said pulling her off his back.

"Everything okay?" she asked father as he patted her head.

"Yeah, everythings okay!" he said to her. He hugged mother and gave her a kiss.

"Ew,"I said and lifted an eyebrow.

"Why do they do that stuff..." I said to myself thinking.
