Rose's eyes locked with Jack's as the lifeboat lowered. Tears started to fill her eyes. She could have sworn she had seen Jack develop tears in his eyes. She had never seen him cry. She never wanted to. Here they were, being separated once again. This time it might be forever. Never had she thought that this is what the night would become of. Rose watched the ship slowly sink as her boat paddled away. She cried to herself, worrying about Jack.
Jack wiped the tears from his eyes. He turned to see Cal with a smug on his face. "I'm guessing there's no arrangement, is there?" Jack asked. Cal scoffed and replied, "Not that you'll benefit from it much." With that, Cal drew his gun from his pocket and put it in Jack's side. "Now, if I were a smart man, I would jump in that water." Jack removed the gun from his side and ran. He quickly glided down the stairs as Cal fired a shot at him. The water splashed as shots were fired. Jack trudged through the water as fast as he could until he hit the first class dining hall.
Jack hid behind a table as he heard the water sloshing around, and a gun cocking. He poked his head to see that Lovejoy had followed him. He snuck around the table and behind Lovejoy as he pounced on him. Shots were being fired as Jack wrestled him to the ground and punched him continuously. He ran out of the dining hall and hid in a stairwell that led to the third class halls.
Behind him, Jack heard a little boy crying. He looked up the stairs as water rushed down. He couldn't let this little boy die. He ran toward the boy and picked him up. He watched as the doors to the third class dining hall began to shake. As Jack began to run away, a man came up to him, took the boy, and ran toward the doors. "Don't go that way!" he shouted. The doors gave out and burst open. Gallons upon gallons of water pushed Jack through the hall. He hit a gate, but was able to swim to a nearby staircase and climb up.
As he reached the top he saw a gate. He tried to shake it open, but it wouldn't budge. A steward came running pass. "Sir, please, you've gotta help me. The gate's locked." The steward turned around and looked at Jack. His hands shaked as he grabbed the keys from his belt. He dropped the keys as he put them in the keyhole. "I'm sorry. I've dropped them," he said and he ran up the stairs. Jack looked behind him to see the water rising up the stairs. He took a deep breath and plunged under the water. His hand rummaged around the look for the keys. He found them, grabbed them, and went to the surface. He scoured through the keys as he put them in the keyhole. He pushed one in and turned. The gate slid open and he rushed up the stairs to the smoke room.
Mr. Andrews stood and watched the clock on the mantle as Jack rushed through the room. "Jack," Mr. Andrews called after him. Jack stopped and stood before Andrews. Mr. Andrews grabbed his life vest and handed it to Jack. "Mr. Andrews, I-" Mr. Andrews interrupted Jack. "Take it, you need it more than me." Jack put on the life vest. They had a firm handshake and Jack ran up to the deck. He looked around to see that there were barely any lifeboats and he rushed to the place furthest to the water, the stern.
Jack climbed up the ship and held onto the railing tightly until he reached the peak. The stern fell back into the water and came back up. He quickly grabbed on and climbed up top. The stern slowly began to rise as he gripped the rail harder. As the stern reached its peak, he looked down to see Helga, the girl his friend, Fabrizio, had been seeing, hanging from the rail. He tried to help her but her hands slipped and she fell. Jack was devastated. Slowly, the ship began to sink. He knew that if he didn't jump at the right time, that the ship would pull him under. It got to the perfect moment and Jack took a deep breath and jumped.
The water hit him like a brick. He quickly began swimming up to try and get away from the suction of the ship. He reached the surface and looked for any debris to get onto. He found a wooden panel and climbed on top of it. He laid down on his back and looked up at the stars.
After a while, the water grew quieter. Suddenly, he heard a man shout, "Is anyone alive out there?" Jack tried to get on his knees and wave to get their attention, but it was too wobbly. He looked over to see an officer with a whistle in his mouth. He slid off of the panel and swam over to the man. He ripped it out of his mouth and blew as hard as he could. "Come about!" he heard the officer yell. A light shone on him as the boat paddled to him. The men reached to pull Jack out of the water and into the boat. They covered him in layers of blankets and Jack fell asleep as he looked at the stars.
