Chapter 1 Season 1 Episode 1
Tim and Lucy pull up in the alley and see a man standing next to a car with the trunk open.
Lucy: That's our guy, Selby.
Tim: Call it in. Backup and airship.
Lucy: 7-Adam-19. Show us code 6 on BOLO suspect. Need backup and airship.
Tim and Lucy both open their doors. Tim stays behind his while Lucy attempts to close her door.
Tim: No, no, no, you stay here till we clear them from that car. LAPD, gentlemen. Step away from the car and show me your hands.
Selby: There a problem, officer?
Tim: There will be if you don't show me those hands. Now!
SELBY and his companion pull weapons out of the trunk of the car they're standing behind and open fire. Tim and Lucy return fire, and Tim is hit in his midsection. Lucy gets around to his side of the car and drags him back out of the direct line of fire.
Lucy: 7-Adam-19. Officer down. Shots fired. In the alley of Bellevue and Clinton. I repeat, officer down! Please send help right away!
Tim: Don't worry about me! Shoot back!
WHAT IF?

Tim: Officer Chen, are you okay? Officer Chen?
Lucy: I've been shot, no I'm not okay.
Tim: You stay here, I'm going after the shooters. Don't move, I called in for help.
Lucy: Seriously? I can't move even if I wanted to.
Tim stands up and leaves Lucy lying alone on the ground. He attempts to shoot the men but they start running away from him so he goes after him. He finds them and tackles them to the ground and then cuffs them. By the time he gets back to the alley where he had left Lucy she is no longer there. He gathers his stuff, goes back to the station, gets into his personal truck and heads off to the hospital.
Tim: Hi, I'm here for my boot
Nurse: Excuse me officer, this is not a shoe store.
Tim: My rookie, officer Chen she was brought in earlier from a gunshot wound
Nurse: Ah, yes of course, the officer. She was so worried about the perp, had to sedate her just to assess the injury.
Tim: How is she, will she be, okay?
Nurse: She will be.
Tim: Thank God, can I see her?
Nurse: As soon as she is moved to ICU, I will bring you to her room.
Tim had to wait for another 2 hours before they let him see Lucy. She looked so tiny and helpless hooked up to all the wires and machines and he didn't know what overcame him but he suddenly felt bad for putting her here. He hardly knew this woman and he all of a sudden got the sudden urge to want to get to know her.
Tim: How are you feeling officer Chen?
Lucy: I've been better, but all things considered, I really can't complain.
Tim: I'm really glad you didn't die today.
Lucy: Is the tough Officer Bradford getting soft on me because I've been shot?
Tim: No, I just have never had a rookie die on me on their first day and I didn't want you to be the first.
Lucy: Why thank you.
Tim: Rest up, take your time and I will see you when you're better
Lucy: Actually, I have requested a new training officer, I don't think this is going to work out between us.
Tim: What? Why?
Lucy: You really have to ask that? Look, sir, I have no doubt that you are an amazing cop and really good TO but on my first day you made me get out of the car and walk next to it while you drove, you yelled at me for being polite to people, you made me fight someone three times my size and you got me shot.
Tim: Ok, okay, the first 3 maybe, but I did not shoot you.
Lucy: No, but you might as well have
Tim: What is that supposed to mean?
Lucy: No disrespect sir, but after our run in with your wife your head was not all there. I don't know what happened between you two and it's not my business but you can't go around being the boss if you can't focus completely. And after today I just do not have the ability to trust that you will protect me at all times.
Tim: Officer Chen
Lucy: You told me not to tell anyone about your wife and I didn't, but that almost got me killed. I love this job sir, and I want more than anything to be the best cop I can be but to do that I need a training officer who will care about me and train me, not get me shot on my first day.
Tim: Look I'm really sorry about what happened today, and maybe you're right my head wasn't in the right place but I promise if you stick with me, I will make you the best damn cop the city will ever see.
Lucy: I don't know.
Tim: Just think about it.
Lucy: Okay.
