An Authorial Afterword

(Not part of the story)

As you may have seen, I have difficulties with any story greater than 8 or so chapters. This is a limitation I am still struggling to overcome. I therefore include this sheet to make a few points.

Review note 1

The Supergirl/Superwoman issue. There are 2 reasons and I really should have made one of them clear. The Meta reason, Supergirl is a recognised character. I do not know of a canon Superwoman. In-story, syllables. Supergirl = 3 syllables. Superwoman = 4 syllables. In combat, taking the time to form an extra syllable can mean the difference between life and death. Shorter names are better in combat. My apologies for not explaining this, I tend to forget not everyone follows my... unique brand of logic.

Review Note 2

Time Skip. As above, the story was trying to escape from me. I had to wrap it up or I would not have been able to do anything other than leave it as a mess. Well, more of a mess than it is. If anyone wants to fix-fic the last few chapters, I would be fascinated to see the end result. As long as things like paragraphs are included. Solid blocks of text are not very readable without a serious caffeine boost.

Review Note 3

I identify more with Batman than Superman. In many of the Batman/Superman team-ups I've read, Superman has the general knowledge and superior memory, but Batman has the greater deductive skills and understanding of the... less savoury aspects of human behavious. Since this was set in Gotham and I had Bruce out studying hard from experts in the early chapters while Clark remained with Alfred and learned how to control (and conceal) his powers, I thought it was logical that Bruce would lead.

I did not mean to diminish Superman in any way, and I apologise for seeming to do so.

Review Note 4

The Superman/Supergirl costumes are based on the black jumpsuit that Superman wore in the animated film Superman:Doomsday. I always thought that hitting things without some kind of protection was silly, hence the gauntlets. The mask was because Clark is really well known in this AU. the belt and boots were to prevent the outfit looking ridiculously top-heavy. As for the capes... Superman and Supergirl have to have capes. My regret with those is not doing the memory-cloth-to-make-them-fold-away-at-high-speed thing that I had planned. After all, loose capes generate a lot of drag in atmosphere.

Hope these review notes help you understand where I was coming from and failing to go.

Thanks for reading.
