The old lady looked at me attentively, her skin was dark and it contrasted with her mercury eyes.
"Daddy why awe we hee?" I asked Dad who was clutching my hand like would never let go.
He knelt before me and kissed my forehead. "I love you Summer, I didn't have a choice"
I frowned"What awe yu tawking awbout Dad?"
I had fallen asleep while he was reading me a story and then, when I woke up, we were in a beautiful forest, where the colors were bright and vivid. I didn't understand why Dad was so worried. The lady didn't seem bad...
"Who is she?" I pointed to the lady that was now sitting on the grass.
"She is a friend, she won't harm you, okay?" He turned to her "okay?"
Her voice reached me like a melodic tune coming from a piano. "I won't do her any harm Robin Goddfellow. I just want to assure my survival"
"Mother Earth, she's my only daughter. Please, just..."
Her face hardened. "No, we made a deal, faery."
Daddy nodded soberly and hugged me one more time.
The strange lady motioned for me to sit beside her, and I did.
"What's your name, child?"
"Summer"
She smiled sweetly and put her hand on my heart.
"Summer, even though your appearance will be a human one, from now on, your heart will always remain fey. Your blood is the Earth's blood, its roots and yours are entwined. If something happens to me, you'll be the one to bring life to the world again. Now, go child, we shall se again soon"
