Chapter 23: The Night Of The Carnival
Finally it was time for the interesting part of the day. I went to the hospital again almost half an hour before the sun went down. I had three bottles full of blood with me. They were nicely packed in my hand bag. When I entered the hospital room Caroline was getting ready. She was putting on her jewelries that time.
"Hey!" Caroline said when she saw me entering the room. I knew already what was going to happen but before I could warn Caroline, she put the locket on her neck. The same locket that Elena gave her a long time ago to save her from Damon. As expected the locket burned her skin right away. Caroline threw it away on the floor in vampire speed.
"It burned me." She complained sounding shocked. I picked up the piece of jewelry from the floor.
"Vervain Caroline, remember what I told you about it." I answered her simply while crossing my arms over my chest.
"Is it gonna happen every time I will come in contact with vervain?" asked Caroline with fear in her voice however I casually nodded. Before Caroline could get over that shock suddenly she started screaming. Her fangs came out of her gum forcefully. I noticed the nurse approaching the door hearing Caroline's screams. I blocked the door before the nurse could get inside.
"Is everything okay?" The nurse asked trying to look inside the room and found Caroline nicely sitting on the bed.
"Yeah, everything is fine." I told her with assured tone of voice. The black lady just nodded and walked away. I closed the door behind me and locked it right away.
"Gosh! I am starving Jacq" said Caroline holding her stomach. Sighing to myself I pulled out one bottle out of the bag and handed it over to Caroline.
"Here, drink this." Vampire Caroline kind of snatched it away from my hand and started drinking it.
"You should start getting ready. It's already dark outside." I said to Caroline while glancing outside through the window. Caroline nodded to that and after finishing the bottle she started getting dressed very fast. After she got ready I told her to compel the nurse on duty to release her formally from the hospital.
"Would I be able to do it? I mean compel her. I have never done that before." Caroline asked. She looked unsure of herself.
"You remember how Damon used to compel you?" I asked her and she nodded her head mechanically.
"He used to look really deep into my eyes and then speak" said Caroline more to herself than to me. I nodded to her.
"Well just do that, let's see if it works." I said and called the nurse inside the room. The moment the nurse stepped inside, Caroline forced her up against the wall. She focused in the nurse's eyes and told her to complete all the formalities and paper work and release her because she was good as new. She no longer need to stay in the hospital. The nurse repeated her words which proved that the compulsion worked.
"Well done Care." I said grinning at Caroline and giving her a thumbs up. She was proud of herself as well.
"I did it, oh my god. I can't believe I actually managed to succeed at the first attempt. It's brilliant." Caroline was grinning like a mad man. So after leaving her mom a message, we both walked out of the hospital. Caroline drove up to the Carnival. Once we reached the place Caroline looked around the set up carefully.
"It's not in a bad shape at all." She said observing around trying to find out mistakes. I rolled my eyes at that and shook my head in hopelessness. Caroline still needs to change a lot. First of all she needs to stop underestimating Bonnie and Elena in fashion sense and organizing skills. However I knew that's not gonna happen for a long time.
"Where is Matt?" asked Caroline out loud.
"Let's get used to of the crowd first before you go running into Matt's arms." I suggested and Caroline agreed without any argument. We walked up to where the kids were trying arm wrestling. I saw Tyler with another guy I didn't really know. We were standing at a distance however our view was clear.
"So, Tyler is your close friend, meaning he is not that bad" said Caroline while looking at him.
"Actually he is a good guy Care. You will know if you give him a chance too." I said and saw that Tyler won the shot with the guy. Then for the next round Mason entered to have a go with Tyler.
"Tyler seems very strong" commented Caroline and I smirked.
"Mason is stronger." I said to her without taking my eyes off of the duo. However suddenly my eyes fell on Stefan and Damon. They both were observing Mason closely. And apparently Caroline noticed that too.
"What's up with Stefan and Damon? They seem pretty interested in Mason" asked Caroline in wondering tone of voice. I nodded to her while sighing out heavily.
"Mason is currently their new obsession, well Damon's more than Stefan's." I informed and Caroline frowned in confusion.
"Why? What's the deal with Mason?" She asked with a frown of confusion on her face. Mason won the round as I expected and Stefan stepped in.
"I can't tell you that yet Care. Let's just say for me Mason is a good guy and for Damon and Stefan he is a mysterious bad guy. Now it's completely up to you which side you are on." I said shrugging my shoulders at her nonchalantly. Caroline looked at me with that strange looks in her eyes that she kept giving me since this morning.
"If Mason is a good guy for you then he is a good guy for me too." Caroline stated confidently. Wow she was really putting her trust completely into me. It was nice I guess. But an alien feeling for me.
"Good." I said to her feeling happy inwardly that I got her on my side. Right then Stefan just lost to Mason and people were clapping and cheering around them.
"How is this possible? Stefan is a vampire, how can he just lose to Mason? Was he just pretending?" Caroline was certainly getting smart eventually. Her asking all those questions was the proof of it. I shrugged my shoulders at her though.
"Maybe." I said and watched Damon and Stefan walking away from the crowd. Caroline cleared her throat to get my attention.
"Jacq, I did promise to stick with you but can I just go somewhere alone for only a moment. I have to deliver the message Katherine gave me." Caroline looked nervous to even ask me that. I irked my eye brows at her.
"And which Salvatore brother are you gonna deliver that message to?" I asked and Caroline hesitated a bit. "Um... maybe Damon." She said with unsure tone of voice. Probably thinking whether she was doing it right by telling me about it. To make her more tensed up about it, I put on a very serious look on my face and said-
"I will let you go but only if you promise me that you will kick his ass." I said and Caroline looked startled at first but then we both smirked at each other. Sort of evilly.
"With pleasure" saying that Caroline went after Damon. I hoped she would do more than what she did on the show. After what Damon did today with me, I would like some pay back even if through Caroline. And he needed to be punished for what he did to Jeremy as well. Meanwhile Caroline was gone I walked up to Tyler. Mason was still in the fight with another guy.
"Hey Tyler, you having fun?" I asked and Tyler rolled his eyes at me.
"Where the hell have you been? I was looking for you for hours" said Tyler while I saw Mason glancing at my way from his wrestling match. The guy he was fighting with that time seemed strong too and putting on a good fight for Mason. But he was no match.
"I am baby sitting Caroline tonight. She is still very weak." I said to Tyler and his eye brows shot up immediately.
"She is already out of the hospital?" inquired Tyler and I nodded my head.
"The doctors released her but she still needs taken care of." Tyler nodded to that but frowned in confusion to himself.
"But why are you taking care of her? Where is Matt?" asked Tyler wondering about it. I shrugged my shoulders to that.
"No idea man." Right then Mason came over to us finishing his wrestle.
"Hey Jacq, finally you are here. Tyler's been driving me crazy" blurted Mason and Tyler glared at him for saying that.
"I am sorry, I didn't get a chance to inform Tyler that I would come here late." I said and Mason nodded while looking at me with calculating eyes as if trying to figure me out. Caroline came up to us that time with a smirk on her lips. Tyler was quite surprised to see her looking so good.
"Hey Caroline, you are looking good as new. Are you okay now?" asked Tyler casually though he was actually concerned about her. And Caroline sensed it as well. She was a bit taken aback by Tyler's concern for her.
"Yeah, Tyler I am fine now. Thanks for asking" said Care and Tyler just nodded to that. Suddenly Mason was looking at Caroline with suspicious eyes. Something was off about Caroline and as a werewolf Mason noticed that right away.
"Tyler is she your friend too?" asked Mason with not so friendly tone of voice.
"Yeah, this is Caroline Forbes. She is the sheriff's daughter. And this is my uncle, Mason Lockwood." Caroline extended her hand to shake which Mason took hesitantly. Caroline was already trying to be on Mason's good side. I thought to myself noticing that.
"Nice to meet you" said Care with her sweet barbie smile. Mason smiled back forcefully.
"Nice to meet you too" said Mason however not so happily. Tyler was a little shocked to see Caroline being so friendly with his uncle. He asked me with his eyes and I just shrugged my shoulders saying that I have no idea what was happening.
"We should go now." I announced to which Tyler immediately protested.
"Come on Jacq, you just came. Hang out with us for a while." I wanted to stay but I couldn't obviously.
"Another time Tyler. Caroline should get home now and I have to go with her." I said and Caroline threw me a confusing glance but thankfully didn't say anything. Tyler nodded disappointingly but understood the situation.
"Okay, see you tomorrow then." Tyler and I shared a short hug. "Have fun you two." I said to Tyler and Mason. Then Caroline and I said good byes to them and walked away from there.
"We are not really going home now, are we?" asked Caroline really not wanting to go home. I shook my head to that.
"Tyler wouldn't have let us walk away if I hadn't said that." I said and Caroline nodded however after a moment she smirked too.
"Can you teach me that too?" asked Caroline and I frowned at her confusedly. "What?"
"Lying so smoothly." I breathed out a laugh.
"Stick with me, you might learn that too."
Third Person's POV
Damon, Stefan and Elena, the three of them had occupied an empty classroom for a very important meeting. While Elena stood frozen, Damon was sitting on the table calmly and Stefan was pacing worriedly.
"Game on" repeated Stefan. "I mean what does that even mean?" asked Stefan more to himself than to the other two.
"It means she is playing dirty and she wants us to know" replied Damon with chilled tone of voice.
"But why Caroline?" asked Elena still not getting over the shock. "Ah, I don't know." Damon groaned out.
"Caroline must be completely out of her mind right now. She has no idea what's happening to her right now" said Stefan getting completely restless realizing that.
"Oh I think she does" said Damon smoothly. "All my compulsions from the past started wearing off the minute she got into transition." Stefan noticed Damon's shirt.
"What happened right there?" asked Stefan pointing at the hole in the shirt right over Damon's heart. Damon glared at space while remembering the event.
"Don't ask" growled Damon already thinking of various ways to kill the blondie. Stefan sighed out heavily.
"We have to find her" said Stefan.
"Yep and kill her. I would like to have the pleasure of doing it myself" said Damon and Elena gaped at him with disbelieve in her eyes.
"You are not gonna kill Caroline." She stated strongly. Damon scoffed at her while Stefan wrapped an arm around Elena to comfort her.
"She knows what we are. She is an official liability. We have to get rid of her." Damon stated simply. Stefan looked at his brother disbelievingly.
"Damon, absolutely not." Damon rolled his eyes at them.
"Need I remind you of a tragic little story of a girl named Viki Donovan" said Damon as if narrating a story. Stefan and Elena both remembered that story very vividly.
"Yeah, Caroline of all people, will not make it as a vampire. Her mother is a vampire hunter." Damon was really getting bored with all the convincing stuffs.
"Come on guys, we all know how the story ends. So lets just flip to the last chapter and-" Elena cut him off immediately.
"It's not an option Damon." He widen his eyes at her.
"No?" Stefan was however very silent and in deep thinking. Damon obviously noticed that. "Your silence is deafening Stefan?" Before Damon could speak more Stefan cursed out loud.
"Shit!" He started pacing again confusing both Damon and Elena.
"What's wrong with you?" asked Damon wondering what happened to his brother all on a sudden. Stefan looked at Damon with worry in his eyes.
"Why do you think Jacq took blood bags from us this morning?" Damon's eyes widened while Elena confusedly asked-
"What? What are you guys talking about?"
"No, you don't think she took them for Caroline" said Damon fearing the worst already.
"That's exactly what I think. Oh my god! Caroline is a new born vampire. She could kill Jacq in a blink." Before Elena knew what was going on both Stefan and Damon ran out of the room in vampire speed.
Jacqueline's POV
Caroline and I were walking around the carnival. We spotted Matt at a stall and as I thought would happen, Caroline threw herself in his open arms.
"I will be around." I said loud enough for Caroline to hear only. She nodded to me silently. I couldn't walk much further when Jeremy found me and it seemed that he was looking for me.
"Hey Jacq, I was just thinking about calling you" said Jeremy and I frowned in confusion.
"Why?"
"Anna wants to talk to you. I told her about Katherine." I nodded and Jeremy already started dialing her number.
"Hey, Anna, Jacq's here. Talk to her." He handed over the phone to me.
"Hi Anna." I said to her.
"Jacq, is it true? Katherine is in Mystic Falls now?" asked Anna worriedly and I sighed out heavily to that.
"Yes, Anna it's true. Stefan and Damon already encountered her couple of times. She even attacked Uncle John and tried to kill him. And she even turned Caroline." I heard Anna gasp over the phone and Jeremy's eyes went wide immediately.
"Oh my god!" came from Anna,
"Does your mom know yet?" I asked Anna about Pearl. I didn't want pearl to be vengeful and come after Katherine.
"No, she doesn't" said Anna. Making me sigh in relief.
"Good. Don't tell her about it. I doubt they are still best friends. And I don't want your mom coming after Katherine now. She is being quite dangerous and she could kill both of you." I hoped Anna would understand.
"I was thinking the same thing. I don't want mother to face Katherine either" said Anna on her own and I thanked her in my mind for the understanding.
"I thought with Uncle John gone from here, you can finally come back to Mystic Falls but it seems that you have to wait a little longer now." I said to Anna with apologizing tone of voice.
"I understand Jacq. Besides, it's not that bad. I am always connected to Jeremy" said Anna trying to make the best out of this messed up situation. I smiled hearing that.
"That I noticed. Okay Anna I have to go now. Bye." I said and heard Anna saying-
"Bye." After that I hung up and handed over the phone back to Jeremy. He still looked pretty shocked.
"When did Caroline turn into a vampire?" He asked not believing his own ears.
"Katherine killed her while she still had Damon's blood in her system. Thus she turned." I said not sounding so sorry about it. Thankfully Jeremy didn't notice the lack of emotions in me. However he looked angry suddenly.
"And you are telling me this now." I rolled my eyes at that.
"Come on I would have told you earlier if I could have, you know that." I looked back at Caroline. She was hugging Matt and her face was threatening to change.
"I have to go." I said to Jeremy and started walking towards Caroline ignoring Jeremy's calls. Caroline was about to sink her teeth into Matt's neck.
"Care!" I yelled out loud enough that Matt pulled away from her and looked at me. Caroline's face was normal again but she was struggling which was quite visible to me.
"We have to go." I said and she nodded without wasting a moment. We both left a confused Matt behind us. Caroline and I walked away from the crowd as fast as possible. By the time we got away from the crowd, Caroline began to sob lightly.
"I can't believe, I actually thought about biting Matt. I was about to... What is wrong with me?" She wrapped her arms around herself while she cried.
"You are a new born vampire Care. I think you are doing pretty good." I said but she didn't hear that and suddenly Caroline's head snapped at somewhere. I followed her eyes and found the guy named Carter. He was sitting on the platform and cleaning the blood of his wound. Damon did the experiment already I thought to myself. I quickly pulled out another bottle of blood and handed it to Caroline. She started drinking it quickly. Carter turned towards us and saw Caroline drinking blood and her vampire face was out.
"What the hell?" He shouted out loud. Both of us realized what happened. I didn't need to say anything and Caroline compelled the guy to forget what he saw and sent him away from there. She hopped on the platform and kept drinking the rest of the blood. I got myself a soft drinks and joined her as well. She looked worried and sad.
"Why are you sad Care?" I asked and she sighed out heavily.
"You were right Jacq. I shouldn't have come here. I would have killed Matt if you weren't there. I am sorry for not listening to you. I would never do that again." I wrapped an arm around her shoulders to comfort her.
"It's okay. Nothing bad happened right. We are already through the worst moment." I said knowing she would be draining Carter right now if I didn't exist here. It felt good that I could change that and saved a life tonight.
"Which also reminds me, did you kick Damon's ass like I asked you to?" I asked changing the topic. Caroline grinned happily this time.
"Oh that I did." I was impressed.
"Details please." I asked.
"Well first of all I confronted him about his past behaviors with me. Then gave him Katherine's message. When he tried to stop me from leaving I pushed him so hard he went flying across the room" said Caroline however I wasn't pleased.
"That's it?" I asked disappointed. Caroline however shook her head.
"After that, I broke his arms. But he healed quickly and attacked back at me. I found a sharp stick made of steel. I remembered you said only wood stakes could kill a vampire if driven through the heart. So, as it was a steel stick, and wasn't a wooden one I drove it through his heart." Finished Caroline and I choked on my drink hearing that.
"What? You really did that?" I asked not believing my ears. Caroline nodded her head vehemently confirming it. I kind of felt worried this time.
"Are you sure it wasn't made of wood?" I asked with concern in my voice. Caroline nodded again. Confirming it positive.
"He didn't turn grey and he was trying to pull it out when I walked away from him" explained the baby vampire. I really didn't expect that. Not that I am complaining or anything. Damon deserved that after killing Jeremy over a stupid reason.
"He is definitely going to kill you now." I voiced my thought out loud. It was inevitable this time. "But don't worry I won't let that happen." Caroline didn't seem scared at all hearing that Damon is going to come after her. And she just nodded without any worries. Woah the girl is really trusting me with her life now.
"Speak of the devil." Caroline said in a sing song tone of voice. I looked up to see both Damon and Stefan coming towards us. We hopped off the platform and stood straight to welcome them.
"Get behind me will ya." I said to Caroline and she did that.
"Hey guys, enjoying the carnival." I greeted them but both of them were in front of us in a blink of an eye. Damon was with an angry face and Stefan was with a brooding face.
"What the hell do you think you are doing?" Damon shout at me.
"Step away from Caroline Jacq, she could hurt you" said Stefan which really made me roll my eyes at him.
"Hey spare me the dramatics guys. I have spent hours in the morning and the entire evening with her. I think I can handle myself around her well enough." I informed them. Stefan calmed down a bit hearing that but Damon didn't.
"She could have killed you." He hissed at me. I raised my eye brows at him.
"Do I look dead to you?" I asked nicely. Damon sighed out in frustration. Then took a deep breath to calm himself down enough so that he could talk properly. He extended his hand towards me.
"Please just step away from her." I looked at his hand for a moment then shook my head.
"No, you will kill her if I step away." Damon dropped his hand and growled angrily.
"I will kill her anyway. Now walk away like a good girl or I will force you to do it." Damon threatened me with a low dangerous tone of voice. My eyes flickered to Stefan who looked unsure of what to do. I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Really but how? Because Stefan won't let you hurt me. And you want to kill Caroline, go ahead and try. I will make sure that happens over my dead body." Caroline gasped from behind me. Because any one could tell I wasn't just kidding. Damon clenched his jaws and glared at me for a while then turned away from us. He looked enough frustrated and focused on controlling himself. Stefan spoke up this time.
"Jacq, I know you handled her so far but she doesn't know how to control her hunger yet. She is dangerous right now." Stefan said pleadingly to me and wanted me to step away from Caroline. I nodded to what Stefan said and agreed with him.
"I know Stefan. That's why you have to train her. Teach her how to control her hunger and feed. No one is better than you for this job. Would you do that?" I asked hopefully and Stefan nodded his head.
"Of course I will. I will help her." He walked over to us. "Come here." He asked to Caroline. She looked at me. I just nodded my head. Telling her to trust Stefan. Then she walked up to Stefan and away from me. Damon visibly relaxed and so did Stefan. He cupped Caroline's face with both of his hands.
"I will take care of you okay. I won't let anything happen to you. Do you trust me?" Caroline nodded without a second thought this time. Since she had my consent.
"If Jacq trusts you, so do I" said Caroline and she hugged Stefan. He also wrapped his arms around her and patted her back to console her as she started crying by then. Maybe she got overwhelmed by emotions. I looked at Damon who had a sour expression on his face. Not happy with the situation at all. He looked at me and narrowed his eyes.
"Why the hell didn't you tell us right away when you found out Caroline turned into a vampire?" asked Damon angrily.
"What? Don't you like surprises?" I asked shrugging my shoulders nonchalantly at Damon. He glared at me openly.
"Whatever bad happens for not letting me kill Caroline, it's on you." Damon said with anger in his voice but I rolled my eyes at him.
"Come on Damon, can't you think something positive for once in your life." He glared at me for that but not that heatedly this time.
"She staked me tonight, there is nothing positive about it" complained Damon and I scoffed at him.
"Well, you deserved it. After what you did to her when you first came here in Mystic Falls, staking you was the least kind of pay back." Damon widened his eyes at me as I said that.
"If you have forgotten, may I remind you that I gave her my blood to save her human life" said Damon trying to defend himself for being guilty. I shrugged my shoulders at that.
"And that's why it wasn't a wooden stake that she drove through your heart. She knows it would have killed you." I stared at Damon with a calm expression while he glared at me with a hard look on his face. Suddenly Elena's voice reached us. Bonnie was with her too. They looked between the four of us.
"What's going on? Will anyone please tell me what the hell is happening?" Elena yelled out in frustration. She must be feeling bad that everyone was just skipping her. After all she loves to be the center of attention of everyone. It was written all over her face that she yearns for the world to revolve around her. Bonnie however was looking hatefully at Caroline at that moment. Stefan explained things to her while Caroline walked over to Bonnie and tried to hug her. But Bonnie just stepped away from her. It hurt Caroline very much but she remained calm.
"You are really a vampire now" said Bonnie with venomous tone of voice. She was still trying to convince herself that it was just a big sick joke. Caroline looked pleadingly at her.
"Please Bonnie I am still me, I am still Caroline, I am still your other best friend." Caroline said desperately trying to make Bonnie understand her. But Bonnie shook her head. Why was Bonnie acting like this? Caroline didn't kill anyone this time.
"No, not now, you are gonna kill people too. You will never be the same Caroline again" said Bonnie bitterly. Caroline shook her head vehemently.
"No Bonnie I haven't killed anyone since I turned and I won't do it, ever. Please don't hate me just because I am a vampire now." Caroline tried to hold her hand but Bonnie stepped away again shaking her head.
"I can't do this." She said with venom in her voice again. After that Caroline ran away from there crying, Stefan followed her in vampire speed. That left Damon, Elena, Bonnie and me. I knew I should have stayed out of their friendship business but I couldn't stop myself.
"I know it's not my place to say anything but just to let you know Bonnie that Caroline was very happy to find out that you are a witch. She didn't think, you are a freak or something. She also forgave you for keeping her in the dark when you told Elena everything. And it's really sad that you can't accept her as a friend anymore just because she is a vampire now. But I would say that you are just making this an excuse to turn your back on her when she needs you the most, so that you wouldn't have to be there for her and share her pain and sufferings." Bonnie was staring at me with an unreadable expression as I said that to her.
"Jacq enough, how can you say that to her?" scolded Elena but I ignored her.
"You know what, the way I see it, you are the one who got dirt on hands Bonnie. You helped uncle John kill all those tomb vampires, not to mention Damon and Stefan could have died too, where Caroline haven't put a scratch on anyone yet. You hate her? Then you should hate yourself more" saying that I walked away from there leaving a guilty looking Bonnie behind to find Caroline and Stefan. I hoped it knocked some heavy sense into the vampire hating witch. I found Stefan and Caroline very quickly. He was still consoling her. Later Stefan dropped me home and said he will drop Caroline to her home as well. I left her under Stefan's care and walked inside the house.
Later that night, I got into bed. But suddenly, I got a call from Tyler. He told me what happened with his uncle and what he did. He was curious and wanted to find out more about Mason. Tyler also told me about the moonstone that Mason was looking for earlier in the evening. And that he was searching for it himself at the time. I knew Tyler would find it soon. It was about time the moonstone will come into everyone's attention. I have to switch the real one with my fake one the first change I get. I have been keeping the fake one with me for months now. Hanging up on Tyler I got out of my bed and walked over to my wardrobe drawer. I opened the top one and removed some clothes and there it was, the fake look alike moonstone. I was still surprised the I came across one so similar looking as if twins. I suddenly felt a presence in my room, Damon. I just knew it was him. I closed the drawer slowly, for avoiding any suspension and turned around to face him.
"Damon, what are you doing here?" He was standing right in front of me with a smirk that graced his lips most of the time. I wondered if he smirks even when he is sleeping.
"Your brother went to the boarding house to kill me" said Damon and I remembered that happening from the show.
"But apparently he didn't kill you." I said because Damon wouldn't be here if Jeremy had really killed him. Suddenly Damon stepped closer to me. I had my back pressed against the wardrobe. He came over and put his hands on the end edge of the furniture on both of my sides, trapping me within him. But he wasn't touching me and kept distance between us.
"I never thought you would stood up for blondie even against witchy." Damon said casually but I could tell he was quite serious.
"I stand up for the right person. Bonnie shouldn't have acted that way with Caroline." I said without any regret for what I did. Damon shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly.
"Still it's hard to believe you reacted to witchy that way or even reacted that way. I never saw you like that before, and we have our fair share of arguments" said Damon and this time I shrugged my shoulders and said-
"I can explode too you know." Damon smirked at that.
"Well it certainly knocked some sense into Judgy. She is going to apologize to Blondie tomorrow. Congratulations!" Damon said smugly making me roll my eyes at him.
"Thanks. I am going to bed now" saying that I got out of his cage and walked over to my bed, turning the lamp light off, I sank in the comfortable warmth of my bed. I thought Damon would just leave but suddenly a weight crashed on the bed beside me. I sat up and turned the light on again and found Damon lying on the bed beside me. He had his eyes closed but smirking anyway. I frowned at him confusingly.
"What are you doing?" I inquired. Damon opened his eyes to look at me.
"It's my turn to stay over at your house and keep everyone safe. So, I am gonna crash over here. good night." Damon turned away from me and pretended to fall asleep immediately. I shook my head in both hopelessness and helplessness. I didn't have any energy to fight with Damon that time. Therefore turning off the light again I lay down, increasing as much distance as possible from him in the limited space of my bed. But when I fell asleep I snuggled up closer to Damon and he too wrapped his arms around me. We stayed like that the entire night. And we both enjoyed a peaceful sleep.
