AN: First of all thanks to my wonderful readers for the wonderful reviews. It makes me so happy that when ever I check my email site I have got couple of review alerts. And I get all excited to read them out immediately. Okay so I should tell you that this chapter is kind of rewrite of the show. So I will understand if you get bored with it till the end. But I had no other way to write it. And it was actually really hard for me to set up the events in this chapter. Anyways I am still hoping you would like it. Let's go with the story then...

Chapter 31: The Masquerade Ball

"So, I was nothing but a sacred goat" stated Mason. Anna was driving Mason's jeep as he and I were sitting at the back comfortably. I was explaining things to Mason that he had no idea about.

"Nope." I said confirming Mason. I gave him some time to digest everything I just told him. Subconsciously, I started fiddling with the bracelet on my hand. I had put the bracelet back on the minute we got into the jeep. By that time, we were quite far away from Mystic Falls. After a moment, Mason sighed out heavily to himself.

"I never trusted Katherine completely because I never understood her intentions for lifting off the curse. But I never thought she had planned this for me. Damon was right after all. I am just stupid to believe that a vampire was in love with me. A werewolf" said Mason and I sighed out at the mention of Damon's name. I couldn't even imagine how he is going to feel about me after this betrayal. Not anything good for sure.

"You are not stupid Mason, Katherine is just too smart" said Anna from the front. She was chipping in now and then in our conversation as well. Obviously she knew Katherine very well.

"I can't believe the whole Aztec curse is nothing but a bunch of fake myth" said Mason more to himself than to me. He was still absorbing everything that I had just told him about Katherine, the curse and Klaus as well. Yes I told Mason about Klaus. He had to know. Anna already knew everything about Klaus so it was okay to talk in front of her. But she was surprised at the fact that I knew so much as well considering I am just a human. Of course Anna asked me about how I learned of such secret things that no mortal should know about. I had made up a story. I told her that I came across a witch not long after I learned about the supernatural world and that she told me about Klaus and everything else that I knew of. Anna believed me very easily. When she asked me the name of the witch, I simply told Anna that I can't give her any name as I had promised the witch that I shall never call out on her to anyone else. After that Anna didn't ask me anything more about the witch and respected my secrecy thankfully. When I felt that Mason was mentally stable enough to take in more shocking information, I spoke up again.

"Mason, I need you to inform Katherine that the Salvatore brothers have the moonstone now." I said and Mason frowned confusedly at me just like I expected him to.

"What? Why?" asked Mason not believing his own ears that I actually asked him to do that.

"Because unless Katherine's gonna make a threat to the Salvatore's, they are not gonna put her down. And to make her threat them, we have to let her know that they're the ones holding the moonstone now." I explained to Mason and this time he nodded in understanding. He immediately pulled out his cell phone and dialed a number. Obviously he was calling Katherine. The call was received instantly.

"Mason, where are you? You should have been here hours ago" spoke up Katherine with noticeable anxiousness in her voice. As the call was on loud speaker, I could hear everything too.

"Katherine, do you love me?" Mason asked with intense tone of voice. It was no secret that the werewolf was hurt and it was crystal clear on his face. I felt bad for Mason and wondered what Damon would do, after getting hurt so badly by me. He must be very violent at this moment. And Stefan is probably trying to calm him down.

"What? What are you talking about Mason? Where is the moonstone?" asked Katherine getting straight to the business. She was impatient obviously.

"I really thought you loved me" said Mason not saying a word about the moonstone. Katherine sighed out a little and tried not to sound frustrated which she was without any doubt.

"Of course I do. I love you Mason." And there was the seductive voice of Katherine Pierce.

"Really? You do?" asked Mason with mocking wonderment in his voice. "Then how could you plan to give me up to Klaus to get slaughtered?" asked Mason with calm tone of voice. I really wish I could see Katherine's face that moment. It must have got very dark with shock and she must be looking hilarious as well. No sound came for sometime from the other side of the line. Yep Katherine was definitely shocked.

"How do you know about Klaus?" It was the first question Katherine asked after overcoming her stunned state of mind. Her voice sounded kind of scared too. Mason sighed out heavily at the question. It further confirmed him that whatever I told him was absolutely true, each and every word.

"I am done with you Katherine. Find yourself a new wolf boy toy to sacrifice at the ritual. And I also know that it was you who compelled my friend to try and kill me. You made me trigger the curse. But I won't let you rip my heart out neither I will let you get me killed in a stupid ritual." Mason sounded downright hateful this time. Well it was obvious that he would hate Katherine forever after learning about her intentions with him. And seriously who could blame him for that. I definitely don't.

"Mason, please listen to me-" Katherine still tried to play cool but she was rudely cut off by Mason.

"The Salvatore brothers got your precious moonstone. Now it's them you have to kill in order to get it. They are the ones you truly love, don't you? It's truly fascinating knowing that you have to rip their hearts out to save your pathetic life" saying that Mason hung up the call.

"Bitch!" Mason hatefully muttered under his breath. I put my hand on his shoulder to console and comfort him. Mason looked really upset that moment. However when he looked up at me, his anger washed away a little.

"I am sorry. It's because of me, everything between you and Damon got ruined. He is going to be very mad at you for saving my like like this. I can never do enough to return you the favor" said Mason with genuine gratefulness in his voice. I took in a deep breath before speaking up again.

"I didn't do you any favor Mason." I said with soft tone of voice. We looked at each other. His eyes were shining with confusion, curiosity and thankfulness, altogether at that moment. It made me feel both happy and uncomfortable. Uncomfortable because I wasn't used to of people feeling grateful to me so genuinely. To change the topic, I said-

"I better warn Tyler about everything too. We wouldn't want him to get in trouble with Katherine" saying that I called Tyler right away. I told him to be careful and that Katherine would try to make him kill someone innocent because obviously now that Mason is out of her reach, Tyler is automatically her next choice of werewolf for the sacrifice. However, I didn't tell Mason yet that Tyler has already triggered the curse and he would turn next full moon. It's Tyler's place to tell, not mine. If he wants Mason to know about him then Tyler would tell him himself. I am sure as hell not getting in between that.

"I think it's best that you go back to Florida Mason. You will be safe there. Do you have any pack or something?" I asked and Mason nodded to that. Of course I knew about his pack in Florida but just like every other time, I had to stay oblivion to it. Mason sent a text to Carol about his sudden leave. He made an excuse that Carol wouldn't suspect a bit. After that Mason informed me about his pack.

"I have a pack of sixteen werewolves back in Florida. One of them is a really good friend of mine. Her name is Jules. But they knew nothing about my relation with Katherine. I was kind of betraying them" confessed Mason and I sighed out at that.

"They don't have to know Mason. What you had with Katherine it's over now? No need to create problems over something that isn't there anymore." I said to the werewolf and hoped that he understood me, and I think he did. Very soon, Anna pulled over the jeep in front of a house. I assumed that she and pearl must be living in there. Before we could get out, Anna suddenly let out a sigh of frustration.

"What's wrong Anna?" I asked her worriedly.

"It's Jeremy. He is continuously calling me" informed Anna and I shook my head to myself.

"Why do you think I had switched off my phone a long time ago." I said to Anna and we all got out of the jeep. As Mason, Anna and I approached the house, Pearl came out and stood at the door. She smiled at me brightly.

"Jacqueline, it's so nice to see you again" saying that Pearl surprised me by giving me a light hug. Harper was right behind her and he flashed me a bright smile too. I smiled back at him and felt happy to see both of them once again.

"Ms. Gilbert, it's always a pleasure to meet you" said Harper and I glared at him playfully.

"Ms. Gilbert? You're still stuck in the eighties Harper." I said and everyone laughed at that. I gave him a light hug as well.

"It's nice to see you too." I said as I let him go.

"Come on, let's get inside" said Pearl to everyone and we all walked inside the house. I planned on staying with Pearl and Anna until Katherine is locked up in the tomb. I can't go back to Mystic Falls as long as she is roaming around the town freely. Because knowing Katherine she must have already started investigating the matter of how Mason learned about Klaus. And the investigation, at one point would lead her straight to me. And that wouldn't be a good thing for me. Besides, going back home, trust me that's the last thing I wanted to do. To go back to Mystic Falls and face the wrath of my friends, family and Damon. As discussed by us earlier, Mason would leave for Florida tomorrow. Hopefully he will stay safe there with his pack. It's a pack of sixteen werewolves after all. Later that day, when I was well rested enough, I explained the whole situation to Pearl even though she knew everything from Anna from beforehand. She wanted to hear my explanation.

"Damon will be very angry at you for saving your werewolf friend from him. You took a great risk this time" stated Pearl the truest thing in this world and I had only one thing to say.

"I know but it was the right thing to do."

Third Person's POV

Back To Mystic Falls...

Damon was gulping down blood in rush to make the pain go away from his body. Stefan on the other hand was pacing in the room restlessly, giving Damon nothing but a nasty headache. They obviously got the moonstone but the Salvatore brothers were anything but happy. Damon still couldn't believe what happened with him. He never thought that Jacqueline Gilbert of all people would betray him like that. That she is gonna back stab him like that. The girl he loves so much. The girl he could die for. He also never thought that Jacqueline would ran off with a werewolf after deceiving him like that. To say that Damon was angry about what happened, would be the understatement of the century. He was furious, actually he was beyond enraged. Damon even considered killing her for betraying him like that. He certainly wouldn't take rest until he finds her out. He would hunt her down till the end. Jacqueline Gilbert doesn't know what she has coming for her. Yes, Damon will kill her but not so easily. He will make her suffer first, torture her slowly and painfully, make her beg for death but he wouldn't show her any mercy. Damon will destroy her first and kill not only her body but her soul as well. Or maybe he would just keep her alive and torture her until his boiling blood cools off. And that would happen after a very long time. The anger and rage that Damon was feeling that moment, it would take him more than a century to calm down properly. Damon could only imagine how would it feel to wrap his fingers around her tiny beating heart and feel the pumping of blood throughout her body. And while doing so, he would be looking into her fearful eyes. He wished to see pain on her face. The mere thought of it gave Damon immense pleasure.

"Damon!" Stefan's voice made Damon snap out of his thoughts, very gruesome thoughts.

"Why is your face changed?" Stefan asked worriedly.

Damon shook his head a little to straighten up this thoughts. He realized then what the hell he has been thinking and it shocked Damon very much. How could he think of doing those things to Jacqueline? Even though she did betray him but those thoughts were just too much monstrous. Even for Damon. But then again why those thoughts of inflicting such pain on her felt so satisfying and fascinating? Damon didn't even know when he started thinking like that. He was just trying to grasp the reality and actually believe that whatever happened really happened, for real and he wasn't dreaming things up. And then suddenly an image of Jacq and Mason kissing each other flashed through his mind. An image that his mind built up itself out of nowhere. And then snap, Damon started thinking about ways to painfully rip apart Jacqueline into pieces. Damon also realized that, it wasn't exactly him but the vampire inside him who was thinking that way. If that even made any sense. The vampire was angry at Jacq because of the betrayal and wanted to hurt her badly. Damon didn't know why but whenever it comes to Jacqueline, he and the vampire side of him become individual selves. And most of the time, he has no control over that side. The monstrous vampire side. It was definitely not normal. He should have started solving this mystery by now. And he would do it, as soon as they get rid of Katherine and find out Jacqueline.

"Damon, are you alright?" asked Stefan with worried tone of voice. His voice was dripping out concern for his brother. If Stefan said he is worried about Damon then that would be an understatement for sure.

"I am fine." Damon snapped at Stefan. He didn't need anyone to worry about him. So what? The girl he is in love with, betrayed him, horribly. Nothing that never happened to him before. Katherine did the same thing with him. If Damon got through that then he is very capable of getting through this now, on his own. Stefan shook his head to himself. Damon was obviously anything but fine and Stefan knew that very well.

"I don't understand why would she leave Mystic Falls with Mason?" asked Stefan out loud. Damon thought about asking her the same thing. And it would be his first question Damon would ask when he's gonna find her out.

"I don't know Stefan and I certainly don't care. But I will let you ask her that before I kill her and her werewolf lover" said Damon in a 'care a damn' tone of voice. Stefan scoffed in his mind knowing Damon could never kill Jacqueline, no matter how pissed off or mad he gets at her.

"We need to find her" stated Stefan ignoring what Damon just said. Right that moment Jeremy entered the house.

"Anna isn't picking up my calls" informed Jeremy anxiously. He was worried and above all confused about what was going on suddenly and what the hell his little sister is up to. And why is Anna helping her in this, whatever it is?

"Woo shocking" said Damon smugly that made Stefan roll his eyes at him.

"I should have known she is up to something when she behaved so weirdly this morning. She must have a reason behind doing this but what?" Jeremy said that more to himself than to the two vampires in the room.

"Of course your sister has a reason. She is in love with Mason Lockwood." After saying that Damon felt his mouth becoming bitter and his cold blood started boiling even more in his veins. Jeremy scoffed at the comment but glared at Damon angrily.

"Jacq is not in love with Mason Lockwood. This is not a time for jealousy issues Damon. We need to find her soon. She could be in danger" said Jeremy. Damon glared at the Gilbert son right away. Stefan on the other hand put his hands on Jeremy's shoulders to calm him down.

"Jeremy we know that we have to find Jacq and bring her back to Mystic Falls. But we don't know where she is right now or where to look for her? So, do you have any idea where she could be or who could know anything about her whereabouts?" asked Stefan with serious tone of voice. Jeremy thought for a moment before he spoke up.

"Tyler!" He said out loud. "Tyler would know where she is." The three of them looked at each other.

"Great let's go then" quipped in Damon while standing up to his feet. But suddenly a voice spoke up that put a stop in their possible mission of interrogating Tyler.

"No, Tyler doesn't know where she is" said Caroline as she entered the room with Elena. She obviously heard them talking from far away and knew what was going on. Stefan, Damon and Jeremy, the three of them looked confusedly at her.

"Tyler was at the Grill earlier and I was there too, to meet Matt and have a little talk with him." Caroline started explaining but Damon rolled his eyes at her teen drama.

"Just get to the point Blondie." He snapped at her rudely which kind of made her jump but Caroline continued anyway.

"Jacq called Tyler while I was still there. I focused on their conversation and from their talk I gathered that Jacq was telling Tyler that he needs to be very careful now because Katherine would want to trigger his curse by making him kill someone innocent as she has lost Mason. It seemed that Mason is not with Katherine anymore and she needs another werewolf for god and Jacq knows what?" Caroline obviously didn't tell anyone that Tyler has already triggered the curse and she is even planning to help him not kill anyone else.

"How come that proves that he doesn't know where Jacq is?" asked Damon bitterly. Mason is not with Katherine anymore. Does it mean that he is with Jacqueline now? Damon was feeling frustratingly enraged all on a sudden.

"When Tyler asked Jacq where she is? Jacq said and I quote, 'It's better for you not to know where I am'. Clearly she doesn't want to be found" said Caroline confidently. Everyone was back to the beginning of this problem again.

"She even left Jenna a message saying that she would be out of town for a couple of days visiting a friend" spoke up Elena for the first time during this conversation. Jenna had given Elena the message when she was leaving the house to come to the boarding house. Jenna was perfectly safe this time since no one has compelled her to stab herself with a kitchen knife while slicing breads. Because this time it wasn't Damon who provoked Katherine but Mason. Katherine had no reason to do that little trick to threat the Salvatore brothers. And as for Jenna, she is happily making dinner with Alaric back at the Gilbert house. Not having a clue how her fate is altered by a certain girl's interference.

Jenna was okay with Jacq going out of town. But Elena on the other hand, was worried as hell and confused as well about what Jacqueline was doing. She hated not knowing what her little sister is up to all the time. But for some bizarre unknown reasons Elena can't control Jacq at all. And it sometimes irritates her to no limit. It was no secret that Jacq loves to get in trouble and attracts danger all the time. And Elena can do nothing to stop her. It was frustrating for her as a responsible big sister. After all Jacqueline is her sister and Elena wants her safe, and certainly out of all the supernatural troubles. But Elena is completely helpless when it comes to Jacq like everyone else. And nowadays even Jeremy is getting out of her control as well. Why can't they both see and realize that she cares about them and wants nothing more than just to keep them safe.

"That friend is none other than Anna. Jeremy should know where she lives" said Damon and looked expectantly at Jeremy but he shook his head.

"I don't know where Anna is staying right now" was Jeremy's regretful answer. Damon rolled his eyes at him without any hesitation.

"Come on you chat with your chick the entire day. How come you not know?" Damon was seriously getting pissed off with all these teen dramas.

"She and her mom, they change places a lot. I don't know where they are, I honestly don't" said Jeremy truthfully but Damon rolled his eyes at him anyway. Certainly he was not pleased with the response he got. That moment, Stefan looked at Caroline. And with a brooding face, he asked-

"Jacq told Tyler that Katherine needs a werewolf, but why?" He questioned more to himself than to her.

"Probably to lift off the moon curse" replied Jeremy instantly while feeling smart about it.

"But why Katherine wants to break the curse? It doesn't make any sense at all. Obviously she lied to Mason about it that she wants to break it for him. But what could be her ultimate motive behind it." Stefan said feeling frustrated with Katherine's games. By then he really got into the puzzle and wanted to solve it more than anything else.

"Why don't you ask her when the bitch decides to spend some time with you again? I am sure she loves you so much that she will tell you everything if you ask her with a bit of love and affection" saying that Damon smirked at his brother and obviously Stefan glared at him heatedly. Elena couldn't take it any more and decided to change the current subject.

"Tell me, how come Jacq found out that Damon is going to kill Mason? Did anyone tell her anything? It's clear that she was ready to save Mason." When Elena voiced her question it crossed everyone's mind instantly.

"Actually I was wondering the same thing" said Stefan truthfully.

"How come she knew about it? And I don't think anyone talked to her about that either." Stefan voiced his opinion that made Jeremy laugh bitterly.

"Do you honestly want an answer to that? When she doesn't know everything? And the way she was behaving this morning, she couldn't even look at Damon without glaring at him and it seemed like she hated vampires at that moment. Jacq must have guessed that sooner or later, Damon would try to kill Mason and she was prepared for that already. And maybe that's why she asked Tyler to give him the moonstone, so that Mason would leave town soon and go back to Florida. And I noticed her stalking Mason the whole time at the charity. She must have saw you kidnapping him." Finished Jeremy his part of explanation. Everyone was silent for a moment. Then suddenly something caught Damon's attention.

"Did you say Florida?" He asked out loud to which Jeremy nodded but was clueless about it.

"Yeah, Mason lives in Florida, why?" Jeremy asked but then realization hit him and he wondered.

"Do you think Jacq is going to Florida with Mason?"

"Only one way to find out" said Damon more to himself than to others.

Not long after that both Damon and Stefan were getting ready to leave for Florida the next day early in the morning. They are gonna catch a flight and fly straight to Florida. They have planned to invade Mason's house first. Stefan didn't want to leave Elena without any strong protection while Katherine is still in town. But Stefan couldn't let Damon go alone either. If Damon really finds out Jacq in Florida then god knows what he would do to her. Stefan didn't want Damon to do something that would certainly make him regret later. Besides, Caroline said that she would stay around Elena as much as possible. It gave Stefan a little relief but still he was worried. Damon knew his brother didn't want to leave Elena and was worried about her safety while he is gone. So Damon tried to change Stefan's mind plenty of times before their departure.

"I told you, you don't have to come" said Damon for the umpteenth time. Stefan looked at him with raised eye brows.

"Actually I do" saying that like previous times, Stefan went to his bedroom to get some things packed. It was not like they were packing clothes or regular stuffs but they had no idea how long it's going to take for them to find Jacq and for that reason alone the Salvatore brothers really needed to pack a few blood bags for the long trip ahead. And it certainly wasn't an easy job to carry blood bags with them when they are going by flight. So, anyhow they were busy packing. And just right then Caroline entered the boarding house in a rush.

"Why are you here Blondie?" asked Damon with clear irritation in his voice. Stefan was still inside his bedroom.

"I have a message from Katherine" answered Caroline straight away and shocked Damon a bit by that.

One and a half hour later, Bonnie entered the boarding house with her Gilmore in hand. Damon's plan to go to Florida and search for Jacqueline postponed for the sudden change of circumstances. Stefan wouldn't leave Mystic Falls when Katherine is threatening to kill everyone in the town starting with Elena. And he stopped Damon from leaving as well. Their plan was to kill Katherine first and get rid of her for good, tonight at the Masquerade ball and then go look for Jacqueline.

"What's going on?" asked Bonnie when she noticed Alaric and Damon checking out weapons.

"We are going to kill Katherine." Jeremy answered her question as he passed by her. She looked at Jeremy as if he was crazy.

"I can explain" pipped in Stefan watching Bonnie's reaction.

"Please" said Bonnie as she really wasn't getting what they were really planning to do. Stefan thought for a moment then said-

"We are going to kill Katherine." What else Stefan could possibly say to explain that.

While everyone was busy plotting a murder, Elena had no idea about Katherine's recent threats and demands. Hence she wasn't even a part in the grand killing plan. Stefan wanted to keep Elena as far away as possible from the whole chaos. It would be too dangerous for Elena to be around anywhere near Katherine. Specially when they are planning to kill that psychotic bitch. Elena too was staying away from Stefan as she and Stefan were still pretending to fight each other. It made everything easy for Stefan. Elena hanged out with Matt instead and kept worrying about where her reckless sister went off to. Elena didn't really like staying away from Stefan but it was for keeping everyone safe. Because if Katherine is really keeping an eye on her which Elena was sure of happening, then it would be very dangerous interacting with Stefan in anyway for her and for everyone else she loves. On the other hand, Matt really wanted to talk to Elena about everything he knew about vampires and werewolves. But he was compelled not to say anything therefore he couldn't do so. He also forgave Elena for not telling him anything about Viki's death. Matt was simply incapable of being mad at Elena. And he was still confused about Caroline. They hardly talk and it was really awkward between them. Matt didn't think he could really form a romantic relation with Caroline anymore. But he wanted to remain her friend for sure.

Early in the evening Alaric kept Elena and Jenna house arrested without them knowing about it. And everyone else went to the party. The plan was in motion already. Tyler was packed with stuffs too that he could use to knock out anyone who would come at him out of nowhere and attack him. Suddenly Caroline barged in the room he was in.

"Tyler!" She exclaimed loudly.

"Caroline, thank god you are here. Jacq told me that Katherine has compelled some people around here to attack me tonight" informed Tyler and Caroline nodded to that.

"I know. I will help you" said Caroline. But then Tyler took one look at Caroline and he knew something is up immediately.

"What's going on Caroline?" asked Tyler with curiosity. Caroline took in a deep breath before blurting out.

"We are going to kill Katherine tonight." Tyler was shocked to hear that. He did not expect that for sure. Caroline gave him the detail as shortly as possible.

"I am gonna inform Jacq about it." Caroline frowned at Tyler as he said that.

"You know where she is?" asked Caroline but Tyler shook his head to that.

"No, but I know a way to contact her" said Tyler to which Caroline rolled her eyes.

"I need to talk to her. She has to come back. Everyone is worried sick about her" ranted Caroline and Tyler simply nodded his head while he dialed a number. But before anyone picked up the call Caroline got a massage on her cell phone from Jeremy saying-

"Your turn."

"Oops, I have to leave Tyler. But I will come back later to talk to her" said Caroline and Tyler nodded to that. Vampire barbie left to go to the others and help them execute the plan of killing Katherine. While Tyler spoke on the phone with Jacqueline. He informed her of everything. On the other hand, Elena already tricked Ric and got out of the house as soon as she realized that something fishy was going on. Elena came to the party looking for everyone. She demanded an explanation from Jeremy and Bonnie because they were the ones Elena came across first. Meanwhile Katherine attacked Caroline and demanded answers from her. She pushed Caroline up against a wall and threatened to chock her to death.

"What Damon and Stefan are up to?" Katherine asked the young vampire with strong tone of voice and used force as well. Not long after that moment, Caroline led Katherine and successfully trapped her in the spelled room with Damon and Stefan inside. Caroline thanked Jacq in her mind. She never thought she could fool Katherine above all people but staying around Jacq made her good in acting department. Otherwise it would be an impossible job for Caroline to pull off that trick. Caroline went back to Tyler as her work with Katherine was done. When she found Tyler, Caroline saw him injecting Matt with something that was slowly numbing him. However Tyler failed to notice that Sarah was approaching him from behind with a knife in her hand to kill him. Caroline quickly stepped in and knocked Sarah out as well.

"Is someone else coming at you?" asked Caroline to which Tyler shook his head.

"I can't believe that bitch compelled Matt" spat out Caroline hatefully as she looked at Matt with pity in her eyes.

"Where is she now?" inquired Tyler about Katherine.

"Probably having a really good time with Stefan and Damon" answered Caroline and Tyler understood what that meant. However the scenario was completely opposite of what Tyler and Caroline were thinking about. No one could touch Katherine as she was connected to Elena. Whatever happened to her, it happened to Elena as well. Both Stefan and Damon were helpless in that case. They actually had to keep Katherine from hurting herself. Bonnie was desperately looking for the other witch she met earlier, throughout the mansion. Bonnie would force that witch to break the spell between Katherine and Elena and un-link them as soon as possible. Meanwhile Katherine kept antagonizing both Damon and Stefan as none of them could kill her now or even hurt her for that matter. She was really having fun with them.

"What do you want with this moonstone Katherine?" asked Stefan god knows how many times. Katherine only shrugged her shoulders at him nonchalantly.

"Does it matter? I want it and I will have it." Was Katherine's straight reply. But Stefan wasn't satisfied with the answer, so he pushed a bit more.

"You know the whole Mason thing had me a bit confused. He was your boy toy right" asked Stefan that made Katherine frown at him with confusion.

"How do you know about Mason?" asked Katherine, she really had no idea that the Salvatore brothers already knew that she was dealing with Mason.

"I actually tried to kill him more than once. But unfortunately failed every time." Informed Damon while a low growl escaped his chest as he remembered the whole betrayal once again. Stefan spoke up to get his attention back to the present. But Katherine noticed Damon's behavior anyway and wondered what happened with Mason and the Salvatore brothers. She was still confused about how come Mason learned about Klaus. Only a few knew about him, very few.

"Why a werewolf Katherine? The moonstone could destroy a curse that will help them destroy all the vampires. So, what's in that for you?" asked Stefan with serious tone of voice but Damon couldn't help but speak up that moment.

"I just wanna say, sorry about your pet wolf. I guess he isn't with you anymore as I know that he ran away from Mystic Falls. You should have kept him on a tighter leash" said Damon and Katherine turned around to face him.

"Thanks for the advise Damon. But don't worry he is not the only wolf in town. I will get another one. But I would like to know what happened with Mason over night that he ran away from Mystic Falls? You said you tried to kill him. Who saved him? Because it certainly wasn't me." Katherine was sure that whoever saved Mason told him about Klaus and she would really like to know about that person who knows about the one and only Klaus.

"Why don't you tell us first about what do you want to do with the moonstone?" said Stefan, negotiating answers. As much as Katherine wanted to know the person's name, she couldn't really tell Stefan about the moonstone's real story now, could she? Those things weren't meant for them to know about.

"How about we play charade?" said Katherine changing the topic deliberately that frustrated Stefan to no limit. Meanwhile Bonnie finally found the other witch named Lucy. Bonnie was forcing her to lift off the spell she put on Elena. But Lucy bargained with her. She wanted the moonstone first. Then at one point when Bonnie touched her she felt that she could trust Lucy.

"You feel that?" asked Lucy as lights flickered on and off suddenly.

"You can trust me." Bonnie couldn't deny the feeling of trust as it was so strong.

"Give me the moonstone and I will help you" said Lucy and after considering a bit, Bonnie handed over the moonstone to her. However when Lucy took the white stone in her hand she looked at it confusingly.

"Why does this moonstone feel so ordinary? Did you notice that? As if there is no magic in it" said Lucy and Bonnie nodded because she had felt that too.

"I felt that too. Maybe it's a different kind of magic" suggested Bonnie but Lucy frowned at that. What kind of magic it could be that wouldn't response to a witch's call?

"Is this really the moonstone? You are not faking it, are you?" asked Lucy straight away but Bonnie shook her head.

"This is the real moonstone. This is what we have got." Bonnie said confidently. Lucy could see that Bonnie was telling her the truth. She nodded to herself. Even though Lucy had a feeling that the moonstone is fake but it didn't matter to her. Katherine won't sense it and she would be free from her debt by giving it to her. Lucy instantly lifted off the spell from Elena and went to see Katherine in the spelled room. Katherine looked relieved to see the witch and more importantly to see the moonstone in her hand. Stefan had figured out many things meanwhile about the connection between Katherine and the moonstone. But he was still very far away from the real truth that Mason learned about or Katherine knew about. Katherine was still wondering about how Mason learned those things about Klaus and more importantly from who? Who could know so much and so accurately about the sacrifice?

"The spell on this room has been broken. You are free to leave" informed Lucy. Katherine took a last look at Stefan before walking up to the witch.

"Thank god" said Katherine with a smirk on her lips.

"When I hand this over, my debt to you is over" said Lucy with strong tone of voice. Katherine smiled at her sweetly and said-

"Done."

"I owe you nothing." Lucy repeated that annoyed the vampire instantly.

"I said done." Katherine couldn't wait to have the stone in her hand.

"Give it!"

"I wouldn't do that." Damon said but Lucy ignored Damon and gave Katherine the moonstone. Just as Katherine wrapped her fingers around the stone she started to suffocate and shake.

"You should have told me that another witch was involved" said Lucy with bitter tone of voice. Damon and Stefan looked both shocked and confused as Katherine fell on the ground slowly.

After Katherine was down and Elena still stayed safe because the spell on her was not there anymore. Stefan immediately ran to her to have her in his arms. Katherine was finally out of their lives for good. They can finally stop their pretend fight and be normal again. All the threats from Katherine were gone because Damon was happily putting her where she should have been for hundred and sixty four years. In the tomb. Because the Salvatore brothers decided that death would be too easy for Katherine Pierce after everything she did to them and others as well. The five hundred years old vampire escaped instant death but she was sentenced to life time imprisonment instead. Everyone was thinking that all their problems are solved now. And they are gonna live happily ever after. Well not Damon though. He still has to find Jacqueline and confront her. But what Damon and everyone else didn't know that finding Jacq is going to be the least of their problems. What was coming for them was something much more problematic and obviously dangerous. Because Elena got kidnapped from the parking lot just like it happened in the episode 'Masquerade'. And it was only a matter of time now before the originals are going to get involved in their lives. And then all hell will break loose on them.
