Kurt's head hurt. It felt like his dying. And there was a burn in his throat. He couldn't tell whether he was hungry or thirsty. He didn't even know where he was. He opened his eyes slowly and all he saw was a brick wall not too far away from him. He sat up, realizing he'd been sleeping on the ground. He blinked, He felt extremely hungry and he didn't know where he was.
He scanned the alley way he sat in. It was dark and he didn't know how he got here. The last thing he remembers is getting a text from Matt-
"Kurt?" He spun his head round. Matt was sitting a little further down the alley. At the sight of him, Kurt remembered what had happened. The man. The monster. His hand flew to his mouth, remembering the taste of the blood. He then realized he was shaking.
"W-what happened, Matt?" Matt shifted closer to him, only centimeters away from him now.
"I'm so sorry, Kurt. He forced me to do it. I don't know why. I'm so sorry." Matt sounded sincere, but he didn't answer Kurt's question.
"What did he do to me, Matt?" Kurt was crying now. Tears flowing freely down his cheeks.
"He turned you. God, i'm so so-"
"What do you mean? Turned?" Kurt asked, looking Matt in eyes.
"He turned you into a vampire Kurt." Kurt stared at him, disbelief clear in his eyes. Then suddenly Matt's eyes grew red and the veins around them turn dark and prominent. He then opened his mouth, fangs in clear view. Kurt felt fear in him by the time Matt had gone back to normal. "It's true Kurt. He did the same to me. That's why I left after Sophomore year. He dragged me around the country and he recently brought me back here. He still had my old phone and was going through the contacts asking me who each one was. I got defensive when he mentioned you. Because i knew how much crap you went through and i didn't want to make it worse. He sent that text. God i'm so fucking sorry, Kurt."
"Vampire?" Kurt asked shakily. he was hoping this was some sort of sick joke. But deep down he knew this was actually happening.
"Yea-"
"What's going on here?" both boys jumped. There was a guy standing right next to them that wasn't there before. He had dark hair and was wearing a leather jacket.
"Damon, what're you doing?" A girls voice came from down the alley.
"I found some kids." Came they guys reply. Kurt ignored the exchange, still shaking madly. Vampire?
"Leave." Matt's voice sounded demanding. The man names Damon actually laughed.
"Don't try to compulse me, kid. I can kill you in seconds." he sneered.
"Vampire or Vervain?" Matt growled, showing his fangs. Kurt flinched at his voice. This was all terrifying to him.
"Vampire. What's up with him?" He asked, pointing at Kurt.
"Transitioning." Matt replied. Kurt had no idea what they were saying. Vervain? Transitioning?
"Well have you fed him yet?" Matt shook his head and Damon tutted. Just then a girl walked up to them, obviously having just ran to them.
"What's going on?" She asked.
"Vampires. Take him," He pointed to Matt. "back to the house. I'll take the other one and meet back with you. Get a few rings and start up some of your voodoo magic shit for them. Don't say anything to Stefan until I get back."
"Why?"
"Don't question what I do, I have my reasons. Now just take him." The girl sighed and looked expectantly at Matt. He looked cautious but stood anyway. She motioned for him to follow her, but he stopped and looked at Kurt. "Don't worry about him. I'll help him through his transition." Matt glanced at Damon before nodding. He then proceeded to follow the girl down and out the alley.
When they were gone, Kurt looked up to Damon. He looked dark and intimidating. Kurt realized he was still shaking.
"What's your name, kid?" Kurt just stared at him. Damon made an annoyed sound and knelt to look Kurt in the face. "I'm trying to help. Now, what's your name?"
"K-Kurt." He stuttered. Not removing his gaze from Damon. He was still freaking out, but Damon said he'd help. Kurt didn't feel like he could trust anyone right now, but he desperately wanted help. What was happening to him? Please say this was a crazy dream.
"Kurt, do you know what happened to you?" Kurt nodded, finally tearing his eyes away from Damon's and looking down. The memory terrified him. "Do you think you could tell me?" Kurt shook his head. He was scared of the memory itself, he did not want a recap. Damon sighed. "Come on," He said while placing a hand on Kurt's shoulder, making him flinch. "We need to get you fed." Kurt's eyes grew wide and his head snapped up. Fed? As in blood? From people?
"I'm not killing anyone." Kurt growled. The thought terrified him. He didn't want to be a murderer. He didn't want to be a monster.
"You don't have to kill to feed. I'm going to show you how you can control yourself. But if you don't from a human, your transition will fail and you will die." The words came out harsh, Kurt felt like Damon didn't really care. "So, you either feed, or you die. Your choice." He then stood and started slowly walking away. Kurt didn't want this, but he didn't want to die either.
"Wait. Please help me." Kurt was crying.
"Get up." Kurt obeyed and stood, feeling slightly dizzy. "Run to the end of the alley." Damon said tiredly. Kurt shot him a questioning look. Why was Damon telling him to do this? "Do it." Kurt sighed, this seemed pretty pointless, but he did it anyway. But it happened so quickly. it must of been under a second to get him the end of the alley.
"How-?" Then Kurt remembered what he was being told he was. It as kind of exhilarating.
"Follow me, and keep up." Damon was suddenly speeding past him, and without thinking about it Kurt followed him with ease. Kurt was fast. Really fast. Damon came to a stop in an empty road, making Kurt halt too. "Let me clear a few things up for you. I don't want to do this, but if Stefan finds out i just left you to die, he'd kill me. Or he'd be really pissed with me. Either way, I'm doing this so he doesn't get mad. And so that he doesn't manipulate you to go feeding on baby animals." Kurt didn't know what sounded more horrible. Killing people or poor defenseless animals. "When you feed, you're stronger than when you don't. You should avoid sharp objects that people aim at your heart. And Vervain, that stuff is a pain in the ass.
"Also, You can get people to do stuff for you. By looking into their eyes and commanding them to do something." That would explain some of what happened to Kurt. The man who had told to be quiet, had told him to stand still, had told him to drink his blood. "That's called compulsion. It can be stopped if that person had Vervain on their person. Also, it's practically impossible to drink someone's blood if they have it in their system. I'll get Bonnie to get some of it for you in case you want to supply the people close to you with it, so you can't compulse them or drink their blood." Kurt nodded. he didn't want to do that. What if he accidentally bit from someone? His dad? Finn? Rachel? Blaine?
Blaine.
What would Blaine say about this? He couldn't tell him. Blaine would think he's a freak and run away. He just couldn't let him know. But he would feel guilty all the time. They had always been completely honest with each other. Even before they started dating. He couldn't keep something this big from him.
"There's someone now." Kurt turned, and true to his word, a woman was slowly making her way down they road. Kurt was shaking, he didn't want to do this. Damon shook his head and sped towards the girl. He bit quickly into her neck and she let out a scream. Kurt stepped back when Damon pulled away from her. "Kurt get over here." Kurt shook his head. He couldn't do it. He couldn't drink someone's blood! He heard Damon quietly tutting from where he stood, figuring that sensitive hearing was part of this whole vampire thing, and then suddenly they were both besides him. Kurt smell the girls blood. He couldn't stop himself now.
He leaped forwards in a flash and was on the girls neck and drinking from her. He didn't realize when his fangs came out because he was busy with his blood lust. Her blood tasted amazing. It filled him up and made him feel stronger.
"Stop, Kurt." He heard Damon whispering to his ear. Kurt couldn't. Wouldn't. It was too good.
The girl was suddenly ripped from his hold as Damon pulled him off of her. Kurt suddenly realized what he did and raised a hand to his mouth. He was shaking again.
"Kurt, I want you to bite into your wrist and feed her your blood." Kurt shook his head, remembering that was what happened to him, and that was how he turned into... this. "Kurt, it will not turn her. It will heal her." Kurt eyed Damon and figured he was telling the truth. He did as Damon asked and lifted his wrist to his mouth warily. He still was one hundred percent convinced, but he had to do something. The girl was bleeding uncontrollably. When he'd bite into his wrist he lifted to her mouth, she tried to push him away and then he remembered what the man had did to him to get him to drink. He turned her so he could look into her eyes to tell her to drink, and that was the first time he saw her face properly. He froze.
"S-Santana?" Her eyes widened even more.
"You know each other?" Kurt nodded. He just DRANK Santana's blood.
"Kurt? What are you?" Kurt was shaking again, he couldn't tell her.
"Kurt. Compulse her. Heal her, and then make her forget. She doesn't have to remember this." Kurt nodded shakily.
"Santana, I want you to drink my blood, it'll heal you, okay?" She nodded and Kurt moved his bleeding wrist back to her mouth and she began to lick it.
"You're too nice." Kurt ignored Damon, focusing on Santana. He pulled his wrist away and could actually see her healing.
"Santana, I am so, so sorry. I never wanted to be like this-"
"Just cut to it. We have places to be."
"Kurt, I'm scared." Kurt's eyes widened. This was a rare moment for Santana. She's been a bit nicer since she came out, but, her being vulnerable was definitely new.
"Santana, forget everything that happened tonight. Turn around and just forget. I'm sorry i had to this." She just nodded, her eyes blanked for a second and in that time, Damon grabbed Kurt and pulled him, running. He finally let go when they were in front of a house in the middle of nowhere. He walked towards the door, opened it and walked in. Kurt went to follow, but when he tried to get through the doorway an invisible force field type thing stopped him.
"Damon?" Damon turned, saw him and laughed.
"Sorry." He then turned and yelled into the house. "ELENA!" They waited for a second before a pretty brunette appeared from a doorway.
"Yes?" Damon simply pointed at Kurt. Elena's expression softened and she smiled at Kurt before turning back to Damon with her eyebrows raised.
"He was with the other one. I assume Bonnie is back with him? The car was out there." Elena sighed.
"Yes, but why were you later than them? Bonnie didn't give me an explanation."
"He needed a little help with... transitioning. He was a little stubborn at first, and then he realized he knew the girl he fed off and nearly killed. I had to force him off her." Kurt frowned. Had he really nearly killed her? Elena offered a sad smile.
"Come on in." she said sweetly. Kurt felt the barrier disappear and he walked in. "Sorry, vampires can't enter someone's house unless they have permission. Even though technically this is Stefan's and Damon's, the lease is in my name so i control if vampires can come in or not." Kurt nodded, understanding. Did this mean he wouldn't be able to enter his own home? Elena held out her hand and Kurt looked at it wearily. She noticed his hesitance and dropped it. "Come on, Bonnie will fix you up with a ring." Kurt shot her a questioning look. "The ring will allow you to go out during the day without burning up." Kurt's eyes widened. He could burn up the sun? He nodded and followed her through the house. She led him to a room that was designed exquisitely and he knew it must of been expensive. In the room sat the girl he'd seen with Damon, a blonde girl, a brown haired boy, and Matt.
"Kurt!" Matt jumped up and ran at him, catching him in a hug. "God i'm so sorry this happened to you."
"Matt. Forget it." Kurt said. Yes he hated what happened, but he wasn't going to blame Matt for that. Sure it was partly his fault, but he had been trying to protect Kurt, so he just wanted to forget it. "What's done is done. Just leave it." Matt pulled away from Kurt, disbelief on his face.
"But-"
"No." Kurt said sternly. He didn't want to even go there right now.
"Kurt?" He looked away from Matt and to the girl he'd met earlier, nodding in acknowledgement that he heard her and he was listening. "I'm Bonnie. And this is Caroline and Jeremy. I'm sorry for what happened to you, and I think you'd like to continue with life as normally as you can?" Kurt nodded, not really believing that was even possible. "Come sit down." Kurt did as she asked and sat opposite her. "Now I can't make the rings without sunlight, so you'll have to wait till morning. But," How did Kurt know there was going to be catch? "The witch that casts the spell on the ring has the power to de-spell it. You do anything to hurt anyone and i'll get rid of it."
"I would never-"
"You're a vampire, Kurt. Vampire's have urges. And sometimes you won't be able to control yourself. Take what you did tonight for example. Caroline hear you, Damon and Elena talking. Apparently you nearly killed someone you know." Kurt looked down, ashamed.
"Who?" Matt's voice came from where he stood, still having not moved fro where he had embraced Kurt. Kurt didn't look at him as he spoke.
"Santana..."
"You fed from Santana?" he asked, shocked.
"I didn't mean to! I didn't even know it was her until Damon asked me compulse her! I didn't even want to! He made me." Kurt felt tears falling down his cheeks.
"Kurt, calm down. Santana's a bitch anywa-"
"SHE DIDN'T DESERVE THAT THOUGH! I COULD'VE KILLED HER MATT!" Kurt felt really angry. He shouldn't really be getting this angry over this. He suddenly felt his fangs coming out like when he fed from Santana. Caroline suddenly surged forwards and grabbed him.
"Calm down.. It's okay. You didn't kill her." Kurt felt himself calm as she talked to him slowly. He felt his fangs go back. "I guess Damon hasn't told you all your emotions heightened? It can be a pain in the ass at the beginning." Kurt nodded, figuring he was just going to be more of a sarcastic bitch than before.
"I'm tired." Kurt muttered. Caroline shot him a smile and stood, offering her and out. He felt like he could trust her and took it. She started pulling him from the room, followed by Matt and Elena. Caroline showed him to a spacious room and they left him to sleep. Matt was going to a separate bedroom and Kurt thought he was acting entirely too comfortable around them.
He collapsed on the bed, extremely tired with the overload of information and fell asleep in seconds.
Kurt woke in a strange room. He was confused until he remembered what happened.
He was vampire.
And suddenly he was crying. He didn't want to be like this. He wanted to be normal. To be human. And completely oblivious of the existence of vampires. He didn't want to drink people's blood. He didn't wan-
"Kurt?" He looked at the now open door. Bonnie stood there with Caroline. A large book was in the former's hand. He gave them a weak smile and dried away his tears. They came in, Bonnie standing at the end of the bed, and Caroline sitting on the side of it.
"Kurt, it's okay to cry. I did that a lot when I first turned. It's scary and i was alone for most of it. You'll be okay." Kurt smiled lightly. "Now, you might want to sit at the top of you bed for this." she said while holding out a ring for him. He eyed before taking it. It was pretty but definitely old. He the shifted a little up the bed so he was sitting and leaning against the headboard.
"Put the ring on the bed." Bonnie said while walking to the window. He threw to the bed, it landed in the middle and Bonnie opened the curtains slightly and let a small strip of light fall over the ring. She moved back to the end of the bed, looked at the book and then closed her eyes. After a few seconds she opened them and picked up the ring and threw it back to him. "It's done."
"What? Nothing happened." Kurt was questioning her sanity in his head. Maybe she wasn't a so called 'witch'.
"Just put it on, Kurt." Caroline murmured from the side of the bed. He did as she asked and slipped it onto his finger. Bonnie walked back over to the curtains and flung them open so the light hit Kurt and...
Nothing.
He assumed they were right and the ring did work, seeing as he had never actually been out in the sun since he was a vampire. Then he asked them something he really wanted.
"When can i go home?" Bonnie sighed and Caroline frowned.
"You've only just became a vampire, Kurt. Your blood lust could take over you at any second. It might be safer for you to stay here until you can control yourself..."
"No, Caroline, please. I'll do what Damon said and make them drink Vervain and stuff. Please. My family must be so worried about me and Blaine-" and Kurt suddenly burst into tears again. What was he going to do about Blaine?
"Who's Blaine?" Caroline asked.
"M-my boyfriend. Please, He'll go crazy when he realizes he doesn't know where i am. Please, i just want to go home!" Caroline frowned.
"I'll be right back." She said and then she was gone out the door in a flash. Bonnie smiled at him.
"Tell me about Blaine." She said and sat on the end of the bed. Kurt gave her a weak smile, at least he knew they weren't homophobic.
"He's amazing. He has these warm hazel eyes and he's just such a nice, caring person. I don't know what I'd do without him." Bonnie smiled. There was a silence between them, which was broken by Caroline walking back in holding a bag of blood and another guy and Damon following. Caroline threw the baggie at him and he caught it.
"Drink it." Kurt grimaced but ripped the top off. When the smell reached his nose he felt himself reacting to the blood lust and lifted the bag to his lips quickly and began drinking it dry. When it was empty he placed it on the bed before looking up to Damon and the other guy.
"I'm Stefan." The guy said. "Caroline told me you want to go home. I'd be all for it, but you were only turned yesterday. It could be dangerous for you and the people you love." Stefan seemed like a nice guy. He and Damon were both also pretty hot.
"Please. Damon said something about Vervain, i'll give that to them, just please let me go home. Please." Caroling shot the two boys a look. Stefan sighed and Damon smiled.
"The quicker he go's back, the quicker we can leave. We are still on the run Stefan, who know's when Klaus will find us? Just give him some stuff and we'll make sure him and the other guy will not do anything stupid." Stefan shook his head at Damon's blunt tone before turning to Bonnie.
"Bonnie, can you get a few flasks filled with Vervain, and see if Elena has anymore of the Vervain jewelry? Caroline go get some more blood baggies. I'll lay down a few rules for him. And Damon, we are not leaving yet. We need to make sure they'll be okay on their own. Klaus won't find us for a while. We left a fake trail, it'll be a while until he figures it out." He then sat on Kurt's bed as Bonnie and Caroline left the room, just as Matt walked in.
"Now, i'm not comfortable with you going back to your family already. So i'm going to lay down some ground rules for their safety, okay?" Kurt nodded. "When you get back, i want you to compulse your family to think you was there the whole time. And then tell them they need to add Vervain to whatever they drink in the morning. Then it'll be running through their system all day and you won't be able to drink their blood. Then with the jewelry, give them to all of your friends, whether they are close or not. If they refuse to wear it, compluse them. And after that you won't be able to compulse them anymore, okay." Kurt nodded again. "I also want you take around a few blood banks wherever you go. So if you ever feel blood lust, get away from everyone and drink it. That way you won't hurt anyone. Also, when blood lust takes over, your eyes go red and your veins around them show, and your fangs appear. Avoid letting people see that at all costs. It also tends to appear when you get angry, and your emotions are heightened so you'll need to be careful. I also need you not show people you can do stuff you couldn't do before, such as your speed, your strength, anything like that. Follow these rules and you'll be okay." Kurt nodded again, taking everything in and taking it all seriously.
"I'm going back to McKinley too." Kurt looked at Matt. "I've been a vamp for a while now, i know the basics and my blood lust isn't as bad as yours, Kurt. I miss New Directions and i'll just compulse Figgins to let me back in with fake paper work. I'll watch out for you there." Kurt nodded.
"And finally," Kurt turned back to Stefan. "Give me your address so I can send Caroline or Elena to check on you tonight. Make sure things run smoothly."
