Kurt didn't see Blaine on New Year, even he desperately wanted to. They sent each other brief 'Happy New Year' texts, but other than that, they hadn't communicated at all.

Kurt hated knowing that he was leaving Blaine alone with his abusive father.

He hated feeling useless. Feeling like he couldn't do anything for the boy he loved.

It took a while, but Kurt decided that needed to be safe from all harm. Protected.

This included things that could jeopardize their relationship.

So he was starting with Sebastian Smythe.

He skipped school the first day back, and drove to Dalton instead, unsure of why he drove instead of running.

This was for Blaine. Them. As a couple. Together.

He was going to get Sebastian out of their life forever.

The building gave him a little nostalgia. Everything had been so much simpler a year ago.

Looking back on it now, he yearned for those times…

He stomped out of his car, pushing his thoughts to the back of his mind. Focusing on the matter at hand; Sebastian.

It didn't take him long to locate the boy. He was loud and obnoxious as ever, and Kurt could easily hear him with his super sensitive ears.

He followed the sound, which lead him to the warbler hall. He didn't think as he pushed open the doors, all heads turning to him.

Most of the guys who knew who he was smiled, but frowned when they saw Kurt's steely glare.

"As much as I love you guys, can you give me and Sebastian a minute? I have something to tell him."

Some nodded, and the others followed as they stood and slowly started filing past Kurt. Nick patted him on the shoulder and shot him glance that Kurt didn't have time to decipher.

Kurt turned on Sebastian the second the door shut.

"You need to stay away from me and Blaine." He was too far away for his compulsion to work just yet, but he kept stepping slowly closer.

"Are you going to make me? Blaine is too good for you, gay face."

"So what if Blaine's too good for me! You deserve him even less than I do!" He honestly has no idea why he let thought slip. He had tried so hard to keep that single thought hidden away, and now it fell through his lips to the one person he would never have wanted to find out.

"I'm not going to back off." Sebastian stepped closer also, and now they were almost nose to nose. Now was his best chance, while they were maintaining eye contact.

"Stay away from Blaine." Kurt said sternly, not blinking. Sebastian's eyes narrowed for a second, before he smirked.

"Bite me, Hummel."

"Don't tempt me." Kurt shot back, not thinking through his words. Sebastian raised an eyebrow, almost knowingly.

"I'm not backing off."

Kurt squinted. Didn't the compulsion work?

"Stay away from me and Blaine-"

"No." Sebastian grinned at Kurt as his faced turned confused. "Your mind games aren't going to work with me, Hummel." Kurt's jaw fell open, and Sebastian laughed loudly when his theories were confirmed. "When did you turn, Lady?"

Kurt was shocked, trying to take this information in. Sebastian knew about vampires… So did he have Vervain, or was he one himself?

"That's none of your business-"

"You know, you being this… thing, is extremely dangerous for Blaine."

Kurt's eyes narrowed, wondering what Sebastian was getting at, and not liking it one bit.

"You need to face the facts. Now you're a monster, I'm better for him."

"You'll never be worthy of Blaine. You'll rip his heart into pieces. He's too good for you." Kurt snapped, glaring at Sebastian.

"Better that than having you suck all the blood from him. You know he'll be dead then, right? And it'll be your fault."

Kurt had figured by now that Sebastian had Vervain. And that he was trying to manipulate him into giving up Blaine.

But maybe he was right…

"I will never hurt Blaine-"

"You can't guarantee that. You cannot guarantee Blaine's safety."

Kurt scowled, decided then and there to take the intimidation route and get off this subject.

"You may have Vervain in you, but that will not be able to stop me from breaking every bone in your body. Lay off of Blaine."

And then Kurt ran out, not wanted to face Sebastian any longer; afraid to give in and truly think Sebastian was right.

He couldn't let Sebastian win.

It was later on in the week. Apparently, the day Kurt missed was the day Mr Schue decided he wanted to propose to Miss Pillsbury.

And by the end of it, they were getting ready to be swimming in a pool while swimming.

Blaine was standing a little way off the group, gazing at them as they changed, and suddenly Mr Schue came up to see if he was okay, Kurt accidently listening in.

"Blaine, what's wrong? Are you and Kurt okay?"

"We're fine. There's just a little… tension between us. But… maybe the guys should wear tank tops as well as the shorts?"

Kurt looked over at him and frowned sadly at the way Blaine was holding himself, like it hurt…

He knew exactly why Blaine wanted to wear tank tops…

"Why?"

Kurt watched as Blaine stuttered, not having thought this through. Kurt sighed shoved past Finn lightly to get over to them.

"Blaine's right. It'll look more… stylish. Miss Pillsbury would appreciate it."

Blaine shot him a quick thank you look before letting his gaze fall to the floor. Mr Schue smiled and nodded before yelling at the rest of the boys to throw on red tank tops on too. Neither asked how Kurt had heard their conversation… thankfully.

Once they'd practiced several times and they'd finally performed for Miss Pillsbury, they were all waiting in the pool, watching as Mr Schue proposed. Blaine stood a little way off the group, clutching his sides and breathing heavier than the rest of them.

Kurt thought back to when Blaine was standing on the girls' arms and fell back into the water… It must have had some impact on his bruises.

He swam over, ignoring Rachel as she tried to tug him back. Blaine hadn't noticed him come over, so he flinched lightly when Kurt placed his arms around him softly.

"Are you okay?" he whispered, frowning at his boyfriend.

"I'm fine." He muttered back, but winced as he said it. "Thanks for… urm, convincing Mr Schue to let us wear something else. I'm not sure about Miss Pillsbury, but I sure as hell appreciated it.

Kurt saw something on his arm, like bite marks… not fresh, maybe a week or so old? They were scabbing over, and they looked… they looked like the marks that were on Santana's neck after he bit her…

His eyes widened in fear, wondering what happened to Blaine. And why hadn't Blaine mentioned this to him…

Was he still angry at Kurt?

Did Kurt need to show him he still there for him? Even if he didn't know what he was doing?

"I'll do anything for you Blaine." He brought Blaine closer to him, kissing him lightly on the head. He looked over at everyone else. They were all too busy focusing on the proposal. All except Matt, who was looking at them, hearing every word and smiling sadly.

"I love you." Kurt whispered into his hair, squeezing his eyes shut as Sebastian's words came back to haunt him. Again.

You being this… thing, is extremely dangerous to Blaine.

Now you're a monster, I'm better for him.

Better that than having you suck all the blood from him. You know he'll be dead then, right? And it'll be your fault.

"I love you, so much." He kissed his head again and held him close as everyone around them erupted into cheers.

He heard it as he was walking to his locker, the hallway empty. He knew they must be far away… The auditorium?

"-my first credit card to get this. It's not very big. But it's a promise. A promise to love you for the rest of my life."

Kurt was out the hallway and in the auditorium in a second flat. Dreading what was happening, and wanting to murder Finn if this was what he was thinking.

He saw Finn as he slowly knelt on one knee. Saw Rachel's expression.

"All you've got to do is say yes-"

"FINN!" Kurt yelled, finally walking in so they could see him.

"K-KURT!" Finn stumbled and fell flat on his face, knocking the stool Rachel was sitting on. Luckily she had jumped off the second she saw Finn falling.

"What're you doing!" He said pulling Finn up to his feet.

Finn stayed silent, looking down at his feet, so Kurt caught Rachel's eyes. She opened her mouth, but nothing came out…

"Look, you two are perfect for each other, yes. But that does not mean you have to get hitched the second you feel insecure. You're better than that Finn. You and Rachel, you have your whole lives ahead of you. Successful ones. You need to live that life, Finn. If not for you, then for me. I want you to become successful. I want you to be more. Get married when you're old enough, go through these things slowly. Because no matter what you do, you going to get these things, I'm not." He wiped a stray tear from his cheek, not wanting to think about this.

"Kurt, you know gay people can marry in New York-"

"I'm not just speaking about marriage, Rachel. This is more than that. Finn knows why I can never have these things. And why it hurts so much to see him throwing it all away to get married in high school. Because I can't do that. Not anymore."

And then Kurt started to walk away, closing his eyes as he tried to stop the tears. He hoped he'd knocked some sense into them, he left them, to think. Revaluate their options. Especially Finn.

He came into school next Monday, wondering why the fuck everyone was singing Michael Jackson.

But he didn't question it, because Blaine was smiling again.

Then it all snowballed though. There was an argument in the Lima Bean with Sebastian, who thankfully hadn't brought up Kurt's vampirism. And then the Warbler's performance and the agreement to meet each other in the empty parking lot. That night.

Kurt wasn't particularly thrilled to be there, but performing all together was fun, and Blaine's singing voice was amazing…

And then he saw it, Sebastian holding a slushee. And then Blaine about to jump in his way. At the very last second Kurt pushed Blaine away, maybe a little too roughly, and letting the slushee hit who it was intended for. Even if it didn't hurt him much.

"You asshole, Sebastian!" Sebastian smirked and stepped closer, silently challenging Kurt. "Stop trying to get us to break up! It's nevergoing to happen!"

"Well it should!"

"But it's not."

Blaine picked himself up off the cold floor, his brow furrowing in confusion. Kurt wasn't saying they should be together, only that they weren't breaking up…

"Admit it. You know I'm better for him."

"You will never be worthy of Blaine. No one will."

"At least I won't hurt him in the way you will."

Sebastian's smirk hadn't left his face; he knew exactly what he was doing.

"STOP IT!" Kurt yelled, pushing his as hard as he could, knocking him flat on his back and hearing him yell out in pain.

"You bitch." He muttered, his eyes squeezed shut and spitting on to the floor.

"Kurt? I'm confused-"

"Oh Blaine. He's trying so hard not to admit that he doesn't deserve you. That he's going to hurt you." Sebastian slowly started to stand, holding himself oddly so his back didn't hurt. "Face it, Hummel. You're going to k-"

Kurt pushed him, harder, watching him as he fell back once more, and was about to pounce on top of him to repeatedly punch his face, but he was being held back.

Matt.

Sebastian groaned in pain, picking himself up slowly. The two respective groups watching the four of them; having created an almost circle around them.

Sebastian's eyes flicked up to see Kurt straining against Matt's hold, realization coming to him quickly.

"Oh, so there are two of you. How many more of you fucking monsters are crawling around Lima?" Sebastian spat, his face slightly contorted in pain as he tried to keep a straight, smirky face on.

"Get out of here. You've said enough." Matt spoke from where he was still restraining Kurt. He seemed to be calm. Kurt had sent him a few texts explaining who Sebastian was and what he knew about vampires.

But he wasn't afraid of what Sebastian could say in front of the others.

"Stay out of this-"

"I could easily let Kurt go and gladly help him smash your face in. Leave."

Sebastian scowled, glaring at the vampires.

"Think about what I've said, Hummel." He spat, before turning and walking past the Warblers, yelling at them to follow as he left.

The second the last warbler blazer was out of sight Matt let Kurt go, only to watch him fall to his knees, sniffling.

.

So I tried so hard to make this chapter longer, but it ended up being mostly dialogue. I'm trying though. It also feels a little rushed to me. But you tell me?

If you guys are wondering about Blaine's personal feelings about Vampires, he is currently undecided. He's terrified of the thought that a creature that could kill him lives in his house, but that just doesn't feel new to him.

I can assure you, I'll definitely bring up his feelings in later chapters. Explain them in fuller detail.

ALSO, what do you think will happen next! I like hearing your theories.:)

AND I FINALLY WROTE THE SEBASTIAN/KURT CONFRONTATION.

I was only sort of gagging to write it because I knew it would create a sufficient subplot. Plus, I just wanted Seb to say 'Bite Me Hummel.' ;)

Also, I have barely scratched the surface of the mainplot :D which means I have no clue how long this story is going to be!:D

Less Than Three! XX
