It didn't take long for Kurt's quiet sniffles to become loud sobs, making all of New Directions uneasy. It was rare to see Kurt cry since he had met Blaine, and if he did, it was over something serious and worth crying about. The scene they just witnessed, however, made no sense to them.

"Kurt? What did Sebastian mean about you and Matt?" Mercedes was the one who spoke, breaking the silence and stepping forwards, breaking the semi-circle around the three boys.

That set off the rest of them, shooting a dozen questions a second. The only silent ones out of all of them were Finn, Matt and Blaine.

They quietened once they realized that Kurt wasn't going to answer any of them.

He felt a warm hand on his shoulder and he let his eyes flick upwards, catching the familiar hazel ones as the other boy knelt beside him, and then back down to the ground.

"Kurt?" His voice was soft, quiet, almost a whisper. "I don't understand…?"

Kurt knew he wanted answers. Answers he wasn't ready to give. Answers he didn't want to give because he was afraid of what the consequences may be.

"I can't…" Kurt's voice cracked, and he sniffled once more as he wiped his face free of tears.

"Please Kurt. I'm tired of all the lies, all the things you refuse to tell me. Stop right now, and just explain. Please." Blaine was begging with Kurt. And Kurt was sure that if he looked up at him, Blaine would have silent tears rolling down his cheeks. His would be wide and filled with concern. His mouth open slightly as he searched for the right words.

Kurt couldn't look up at that face.

"I'm sorry Blaine." Kurt whispered, his eyes squeezing shut tightly.

"Why are you apol-?"

"Sebastian was right." He said, he voice cracking again.

"What!" Blaine sounded even more confused.

"You don't deserve me, Blaine.

"You don't deserve me, Blaine. You deserve some better. Someone… normal. Not me. Not a monster."

"Kurt?" Kurt hated the way Blaine's voice sounded so broken. He hated it more because he was the reason why. "What are you talking about?"

"I'm sorry Blaine. But it's better for you this way." Kurt stood, Blaine following his lead and grabbing his arm.

"What's better what way?" He asked, his voice begging for Kurt to look at him. "What are trying to say, Kurt?"

Kurt knew Blaine was crying now, because of his quiet sobs, that he wouldn't be able hear had he not been a vampire, came out with each broken whisper.

"It's better if we…" Kurt faltered. He never thought he would say these words. Not to Blaine. Not today. But he squeezed his eyes tighter as he breathed out the words. "-If we break up."

Kurt's voice cracked a final time and tears were now flooding down his face.

He pulled away from Blaine's grasp, needing to get out of there.

He started to walk away slowly, forcing himself not to run away at top speed.

He was just in ear shot as he heard Blaine break out in a broken whisper.

"Kurt."

"Dude! What is your problem?"

Kurt had managed to pretend he was okay. Like nothing was bothering him. Like he wasn't hurting. Like his heart wasn't torn to pieces.

He had been sitting silently besides his father, ignoring whatever game was on the TV, when Finn came barging in, red faced and furious.

"What now, Finn?" Kurt said nonchalantly, not moving his eyes away from his knees. His dad muted the TV, confused.

"Why did you break up with Blaine? He's fucking heartbroken, Kurt! I had to drive him to make sure he'd be okay-"

"The last place for Blaine to be okay is his home…" Kurt said quietly, still not looking up or letting his anger out. He kept it bottled up inside, scared he might hurt someone.

"What!"

After a short silence where Kurt didn't mutter a thing, Finn continued. Shouting, yelling. It didn't take long before Kurt's anger became too much.

He jumped up and caught Finn's eyes for a second before pushing him down. Hard.

Finn stumbled and hit the wall, his face crumpling up in pain.

"Kurt-!" Kurt ignored his dad as he walked closer to Finn, shouting.

"I broke up with Blaine for the same reason I stopped you from proposing to Rachel last week in the auditorium. Every single one of you have your whole lives ahead of you! I have nothing! I can't stand looking at Blaine and knowing he can live his life. I'm dragging him down.

"Have you also thought about how dangerous I am to him! I could kill him at any second. It doesn't matter whether he drinks Vervain or not! I could break his neck in under a second. I'm not going to risk Blaine's life because I'm a monster."

Kurt was fuming, his cold glare never leaving Finn. His dad stood dumbstruck at his dad, knowing better than to stop Kurt in his fury. He had been reluctant to do so even before Kurt have turned…

Finn shoved off from the wall, wincing slightly in pain as he did so.

"That doesn't mean you should give up on someone you love Kurt. Why don't you just tell him!"

"Because he could be terrified. He could run away. I'd never get to see him again! Besides, he's better off without me!"

They stood, continuously glaring and Kurt trying the hardest not to let go of his anger.

"Finn? You proposed to Rachel?"

Finn spluttered, his glare hardening, and spoke without looking away from Kurt.

"I was going to but-"

"Go to your room." Burt said calmly. "We'll talk about this when your mother gets home."

Finn's eyes flicked over to Burt for second, his glare never faltering, before he spun around and stomped off to his room, muttering things about the two of them that Kurt wasn't going to repeat.

"Now you," Burt turned to Kurt, who didn't look back. "Kurt, look at me." It took a minute, but he finally did as he asked, turning to face his father. "Did you break up with Blaine?"

Kurt took a shaky breath and closed his eyes, and then nodded.

He heard movement and opened his eyes to see Burt had opened his arms, inviting him in. Kurt sniffled before launching himself into his arms, finally letting himself cry.

His sobs broke through the quiet house, only slightly muffled by Burt's chest. He cried and cried, gripping onto his dad like a lifeline.

He hated himself for what he did tonight. He loved Blaine. He didn't want to be apart from him.

But Kurt was dangerous to those close to him. He couldn't risk hurting Blaine like that.

It was for Blaine's own good.

Kurt stumbled into glee club the next day, ignoring the cold, hard glares that most of the glee club shot at him, and sat silently besides Matt, the only one who cold truly understand what he was going through.

"Guys I have some bad news." Mr Schue said as he strode into the choir room, a sad look upon his face. "Blaine quit glee."

Kurt's head snapped up. Glee was one of Blaine's favourite parts of the day. He had never wanted him to quit something that made him happy…

"I was hop-"

"This is your fault, Hummel!" Kurt closed his eyes as more accusations were sent his way, Santana's and Puck's by far the loudest.

When Kurt remained silent, trying to ignore them all, Santana grew irritated by his lack of reaction. So she decided to try a different route.

"You know, I'm surprised Blaine didn't break up with you first! You're so much of a girl that-"

Kurt's eyes flashed open and he jumped up, turning his glare on her and was about to leap forwards and do god-knows-what when Matt was holding him back, causing Santana to raise an eyebrow.

"Why is Matt always restraining you? Since when were you two so close anyway?"

Kurt strained against Matt's grip, pulling hard to get away. That's when Finn stood up.

"Yeah, Kurt!" he spoke in a knowing voice. He knew exactly what he was doing. "Why are you two friends?"

"SHUT UP FINN!" Kurt yelled, his anger turning on him. "You're just mad at me because I told dad that you tried to propose to Rachel!"

There were collective gasps around the group.

"You had no right to tell them-"

"You shouldn't have tried anyway!"

"God, Kurt! Ever since you fucking tu-"

That was when Kurt finally pulled out of Matt's grip. He was angrier now because Finn was seconds away from telling everyone about him.

He was over there quickly, not thinking about his speed, and pushed Finn, harder than he had last night, knocking the wind from him and sending him tumbling into the chair behind him.

"Don't you dare, Finn Hudson." Kurt growled out, seconds away from vamping out.

"WHAT?" Finn yelled, picking himself up, even though he looked like he was in pain. "They're going to find out sooner or later-"

"No, Finn. If they find out…" Kurt shook his head, at a complete loss for words.

"What, Kurt? What would you do?"

Silence.

"What are they going to do Kurt?"

"There's a lot they can do."

"Face it, you're just scared. You need to man up and roll with the punches. Life's a bitch, sure, but you got to take it."

Kurt's anger was growing with each word Finn said. And, upon impulse, he grabbed Finn by his shirt and threw him across him room, sending him crashing into the wall.

"I've manned up Finn. I've rolled with the punches. I have taken what life's given, and look where all of that got me. I'm worse off now than I was before I met Blaine. He's better off without me! And if you dare tell anyone about me, or Matt for that matter, I'll throw you harder next time."

And with that, Kurt left the room, grumbling obscenities as he left. He made his way to an empty room and locked the door behind him, only vaguely listening in to the conversation he left.

They went on from how stupid he was, to begging Matt to tell them what was going on, to-

Kurt shot up. He couldn't have hurt him that bad could he?

"Ribs…. R-really hurt." There was a groan of pain soon after.

Kurt had seriously hurt Finn.

"He asked for it-"

"Kurt Elizabeth Hummel!" His father's voice rose, obviously not caring about being in a hospital. "You had no right to hurt Finn like that! Whether he provoked you or not! You're lucky he hasn't broken anything!"

Kurt huffed, crossing his arms and rolling his eyes.

"Now, you are grounded for the next two weeks. Which means no phone, no internet access, no shopping trips, no allowance, and you have to keep apologizing to Finn."

"I'd like to see you try to stop from doing any of those." Kurt said, uncrossing his arms and stepping closer to Burt, going in as slightly intimidating. "Or make me say sorry to him."

His dads glare hardened.

"Just because of what you are now does not stop me from being your father. You will do as I tell you-"

"What I am? So now I'm a thing? You know what? Forget it. It's not like all my dreams have been thrown down the drain. It's not like I've had to separate myself from the person I love. It's not like I'm dangerous to everyone."

"Kurt-"

"Just… leave it be."

And then Kurt trudged away, forcing the tears not to fall.

It happened about a week or so after the break up.

Kurt was idly sitting in a cooking class, twirling a knife in his hands, staring up at wall clock, bored.

A girl about two rows in front was fixated on cutting up some vegetables. She, however, was a tad on the ditsy side, and was useless with a knife.

Kurt's eyes started to scan the room, stopping on her every so often. On the fourth time around, the knife slipped in her fingers, effectively slicing the palm of her left hand, the blood gushing out.

Kurt stared. He slowly began to realize he'd been starving himself. Not letting himself drink.

This had been going on since the breakup.

And the sight was enough to make him snap.

He stood, slowly stepping closer to the girl… what was her name again? Penny? Poppy?

Like it mattered.

Her and her partner looked up as he neared their table, the teacher ignoring him as she rushed over to look at the girl's hand.

When the teacher blocked his view, that's when he remembered where he was.

He needed to get out. And fast.

He ran from the room, speeding along the second he was out. Rushing into the bathroom, smiling slightly as he realized he had somehow remembered his bag.

He pulled out the blood bug, tearing the top off.

He stared for a second; inhaling deeply and the letting the scent fill him.

And then he lurched forwards, biting down hard on the flimsy bag as he sucked and drunk the contents.

He'd drank it dry quickly, still thirsty for more.

He pulled out the second, and last, bag, doing the same.

Only this time, when he was about halfway through, the door swung open, revealing none other than Blaine Anderson.
