A quick look between Kurt and Matt and they both rushed to darkness, covered in shadow so Michael wouldn't see them. They couldn't risk him knowing, even if Kurt desperately wanted to grab Blaine and drag him away from Michael.

Blaine was left standing next to Kaiser, holding the purple flower, looking around confused until he saw his father come down the last few steps.

"What are you doing!" Blaine paled, his father sounded livid. Kurt frowned and carefully took out his phone, opening up the camera and zoomed in, recording what was going on. Why? He didn't know, but it felt right.

"I-uh…" Blaine stuttered, his eyes swivelling in his sockets, looking for an escape.

"I got an alarm the second you opened this door. What are you doing?" He was right in front Blaine, practically spitting in his face as he spoke.

"I wanted to-UGH." Michael had hit Blaine right in the face, sending him tumbling to the floor, holding his cheek in pain.

Kurt felt Matt gripping him, holding him back from running in and hitting Michael.

"You're just as useless as Cooper was."

Blaine coughed and spat at the floor, glaring up at his father as he spoke.

"Did you do this to Coop, too? Beat him every day?"

"No." He kicked Blaine in the stomach, causing the boy to grunt in pain.

"Why?"

"Because he ran away." Michael kneeled, whispering the words to Blaine, Kurt and Matt only just hearing because of them being Vampires. "He's the reason your mother… died. And he got away before I could punish him. Therefore leaving you in his place."

Blaine breathed in sharply, his eyes searching his fathers, finding the answers in them.

"She didn't die did she? You lied to me all along. That's why there wasn't a funeral. She's not dead."

"She's dead to me." Michael growled.

"She turned into a vampire didn't she? That's why you hate them. Because she turned and left you alone to look after two sons. And you blame Cooper because you obviously got him to try and stop her. He never tried to. Because he saw you for the asshole you truly are. Mom was better off that way-"

Blaine's voice had been gradually getting louder, growing from a whisper until he was shouting into his father's face. And then his father was beating him. Hitting and kicking at every inch of Blaine. Kurt winced along with Blaine, still being held back by Matt.

"Cooper is twice the man you are-" Blaine kept shouting out sentences, seeming to anger his father more. "I'm glad he got out of here- I'd rather it be me enduring your hits than him!"

"Fuck you Blaine! Get out of my house! NOW!" he stopped, picking Blaine up and pushing him towards the stairs, making him trip back over and hit the floor loudly.

"You're an asshole-" He said, standing up and brushing himself off lightly.

"GET OUT!"

Blaine scowled before turning and stalking up the stairs. Michael watched him leave, and then turned to Kaiser, who'd stayed silent for all of this.

"What was he here for?"

"I ain't telling you shit!" Kaiser spat back.

While Michael was distracted, Kurt and Matt took the opportunity to get out of there, running soundlessly away.

Once they were out, Blaine's car was already gone, so the rushed down the road and opened the doors while he was still driving, effectively scaring the shit out of him and making him swerve to the curb and stomping hard the brakes.

"FUCK! Why?" Blaine yelled as they got in, Kurt in the passenger seat and Matt in the back.

"We're not running all the way back to Lima." Kurt said. Blaine's face softened, but he remained angry as he started driving again, pulling the car back onto the road. "Plus, I'm making sure you don't hurt yourself."

"Then why don't you take the wheel?" Blaine said, his fists gripping the steering wheel tighter.

"Because you need to do stuff with your hands when you're angry, or sing an emotional song. You're going for the keeping your hands busy route. At least me and Matt would be able to get you out of here if you crash."

"So supportive." Blaine spat, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Oh shut up."

"Why should I?"

"Because you're not focusing on your fucking driving and you probably will end up crashing!"

Then silence fell upon them as Blaine gritted his teeth, unsure of how to answer that. Matt sat awkwardly in the back seat, feeling, unsurprisingly, like a third wheel.

"Why the fuck are you so moody?"

"Maybe it's because I just had to watch your dad fucking beat the shit out of you and know I can't do anything about it because he could possibly kill me, especially in that room. And it doesn't fucking help that once you turn all your fucking emotions are heightened. So whatever you've felt before. All the pain, all the heartache, all the love, everything, imagine that fucking tripled. And tripled again and again."

Silence fell again, this time Blaine actually feeling sorry for blowing up at Kurt, but he remained quiet, only speaking after half an hour of driving in silence.

"I'm sorry." He whispered. "I'm being really insensitive and that makes me a sucky boyfr-"

"Don't even say that word. You know fully well why we can't be together now. But yes, you have been insensitive, but right now I'm finding it hard to accept your apology."

Blaine breathed out slowly, saddened by Kurt's words. He should have expected it to be honest. He knew how Kurt's mind worked; he should've known he wouldn't get him back that easily.

"Who's Cooper?" Kurt asked, glancing at Blaine.

"My brother." Blaine breathed out, knowing Kurt was about to angry for never telling him he even had a brother.

"You have a brother!" He could hear the anger in Kurt's voice, and decided to say something before he got angrier.

"Yes. And I never told you because I honestly thought I'd never speak to him again. He just up and left after my mom di… oh my god. She's alive." The car slowly came to stand still in the middle of the thankfully empty road.

"Can you please drive while you be happy about getting your mom back?" Kurt said bitterly, turning to look back out the window.

Blaine frowned at Kurt before doing as he said and started driving again.

"Why are so bitter about-"

"Just shut up and drive, Blaine."

Blaine frowned more, hearing the sadness in Kurt's voice, but doing as he asked.

Kurt let a stray tear roll down his cheek as he continued to gaze out of the window. He was trying to be a little happy for Blaine. But he couldn't when he knew that he'd never get his mother back. Because she's well and truly dead.

And he was never going to get her back.

He was jealous of Blaine…

"Thanks for the ride-"

"Not like you needed it." Blaine muttered. Matt's face fell. He murmured a good bye to both of them before getting out of the car and running to wherever he was sleeping now.

Kurt and Blaine remained parked outside Kurt's home, letting the silence engulf them.

"So… I guess I'll sleep in my car somewhere or something. It's not like I-"

"Don't be stupid. Get out. Now. You're staying here."

"But-"

"No. You're staying here. We have a spare room." And then Kurt jumped out of the car, looking through the open door expectantly until Blaine sighed and jumped out himself, both of them slamming their doors simultaneously.

"Go straight up. It's late and you've taken in a lot today. I'll get Finn to bring you some food up." He held the door open for Blaine and they stepped through. Blaine walked silently up the stairs as Kurt yelled for Finn while he strolled through into the kitchen and spotting his dad.

"Dad?" he turned from his sandwich, an eyebrow raised at Kurt. "Blaine's staying here for a while. I'm pretty sure this is enough of an explanation." He slid his phone across the island and it caught on the crack for a second before it made the whole way. It was open on the video Kurt took at Blaine's house, and he watched as his father pressed play and saw what was going on.

Then Finn came in, and, hearing noises and seeing Burt holding Kurt's phone, walked over and stood behind him, rubbing his bruised ribs lightly.

"Kurt, you gotta' do something about this!"

"You don't think I want to? I show that to the police and they'll find out about vampires. I would do something myself if Michael Anderson wasn't a vampire hunter and didn't already suspect me of being one! He could kill me in a second, dad!"

Burt frowned and dropped Kurt's phone onto the island.

"You could at least try-"

"Shut up Finn. You've made it clear lately that you'd prefer if I died than turning into what I am!" Finn scowled.

"At least we wouldn't have to deal with you being such a douchebag-"

"Oh wow, okay. Fuck you. Make some food for Blaine and take it up to him. I'm going to bed." Kurt turned and started to walk out, but stopped abruptly at the door and turned around to face Finn.

"And remember I can hear pretty much everything now, Finn. Even whispers."

And then he continued stalking out of the room.

Kurt had gone to spend time at Damon's to avoid Blaine. He'd updated them on what he knew about Michael, and also about Kaiser. And then Damon had apparently left after to see if he could find out more, so Kurt spent all his time talking with the girls and Jeremy.

On Sunday night he went home with more blood bags and Vervain. He'd caught Blaine's eyes and immediately went to bed, trying not to cry.

He walked into school on Monday and regretting it the second he did so, and wished he could leave.

How could he have forgotten that Valentine's Day was this week?

He went through the day trying to ignore all the crappy decorations, but glee club was the worst and that was only lunch time. The second he went in everyone was being all lovey dovey and spared a few glares at him as he strode in, but the softened considerably once Blaine came in too. Finn had convinced him to come back somehow. Kurt didn't know what he'd said as he hadn't been near them when he done it.

Blaine looked depressed as he sat down besides Mike on the opposite side of the room to Kurt.

And then Mr Schue came in, a huge smile on his face.

"Hey guys! So today is Valentine's week and I was going to have you do singing telegrams to raise money for the bus to Regionals, but Sugar was kind enough to pay for that." There were a few cheers at that. "So… Instead I decided that we're going to dedicate this week to singing songs to the ones we love. Choose any song you want and to whomever you want."

"Mr Schue?" Surprisingly, it was Matt that put his hand up. "Can I start this week off?" Mr Schue nodded and Matt jumped up and stood in the middle of the room. "Well, it isn't exactly a love song, but it explains how I feel right now. I mean, there was something I could've done – Should've done – that I didn't do, which therefore leaded to a chain of events that's leaving at least two of you extremely unhappy and one of you physically hurt. And I resent that."

And then the music started up and when Kurt realized what song it was, he knew it was directed at him.

Step one you say we need to talk

He walks you say sit down it's just a talk

He smiles politely back at you

You stare politely right on through

Some sort of window to your right

As he goes left and you stay right

Between the lines of fear and blame

You begin to wonder why you came

This part was clearly to demonstrate Kurt breaking up with Blaine, but he forgot what the chorus was, at least until Matt sung it.

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend

Somewhere along in the bitterness

And I would have stayed up with you all night

Had I known how to save a life

He was clearly stating that he wish he'd done something that night with Kaiser. Wished he saved Kurt from this.

Kurt didn't notice but a stray tear fell and rolled down his cheek. Blaine did notice however, and tried to find the deeper meaning in the song.

Let him know that you know best

Cause after all you do know best

Try to slip past his defence

Without granting innocence

Lay down a list of what is wrong

The things you've told him all along

And pray to God he hears you

And pray to God he hears you

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend

Somewhere along in the bitterness

And I would have stayed up with you all night

Had I known how to save a life

Kurt knew he was crying now and he caught Blaine's eyes for a second before looking at the floor.

Matt turned slightly where he was standing, facing Blaine more now as the next verse was aimed at him.

As he begins to raise his voice

You lower yours and grant him one last choice

Drive until you lose the road

Or break with the ones you've followed

He will do one of two things

He will admit to everything

Or he'll say he's just not the same

And you'll begin to wonder why you came

Blaine frowned, unsure of what Matt meant by this. Maybe it was before he figured out that Kurt was vampire. But he couldn't be sure.

And then Matt repeated the chorus a few more times, turning back to his original position. And by the end, Kurt was full on sobbing into his hands.

"Kurt?"

He didn't know who spoke, and he didn't care. He stood, grabbing his bag and rushing from the room at human speed, refraining himself until he was out the room.

He didn't get very far.

He fell to the floor a few hallways away from the choir room, letting the sobs rack through him, shaking him to the core.

.

I swear the only fluffy thing in this fic was Chapter 11. The rest is just Angst…. ;)

But anyway, more songs in the next chapter. The one in this one was How to Save a Life by The Fray. I just really want to hug Blaine, you know?

Tell me what you thought and what you'd like to happen.

And I bet most of what you'd like to happen is going to go along the lines of 'GET KLAINE BACK TOGETHER'… ;)

Less Than Three! xx
